Dear Rachel,
How are things going at home? Everything's great here. I've met a girl named Katie. I guess you could say she's become my "partner in crime". That book was great! Thanks.
I was wondering, your mum invited us for Christmas and I was wondering if we would be able to go. It's been awhile since I've seen her and I love having the houselves wait on you hand and foot. It's rather fun.
But if we already have plans I completely understand.
Love always, Brooke

Brooke,
I'm glad school is going so well for you and it's great that you've found a friend to suit you.
We won't be going to my mother's house. We'll be staying at home, as I might be called to Switzerland. If we go then we'll be able to ski the Swiss Alps! Won't that be fun?
I've enclosed some money for you, so use it wherever. Wink, wink.
Love, Rachel

Dear Rachel,
Thanks for the money. Don't worry, I'll put it to good use.
If we can't stay at your mum's then can we at least just go over there for a visit or something. I would really like to see her, as I haven't in such a long time.
The Swiss Alps would be really fun though.
Love Always, Brooke

Brooke,
We are not, I repeat, not going to my mother's house.
The only reason we went before was because we had to. Trust me, I wouldn't have gone had it have been my choice. There are just some things that you wouldn't understand.
Now, please don't bother me about it anymore.

Brooke,
Change of plans. We are going to my mother's for Christmas Eve dinner.
When you get off the train take a cab to Diagon Alley. Pick out some dress robes and anything else you would like to wear with them on Christmas Eve. I've enclosed money with this specifically for that purpose.
I won't be there when you get home.
