Diagon Alley had been attacked. Dana frowned thoughtfully staring at her right thumb. She had managed to avoid getting hurt in most of the damage being done. But she had broken her thumb. And gotten a stiff neck, but the neck was he least of her problems right now. If Death Eaters attacked Diagon then England’s security was at very low… And giants had been in the attack as well. This did not tell good about the local ministry. Rubbing the scar on her thumb Dana thought. Her thumb had been healed with two sips of Skele-Go. Madam Pomfrey had wanted to get rid of the small scar as well, but Dana had argued. She wanted this scar. As a reminder of what had happened today. It would turn into a barely noticeable white line practically between her thumb and index finger. It wouldn’t start interfering with wearing rings or writing. But it would be always there to remind Dana of today.
She felt rather well actually. Her neck was still sore, but that didn’t hinder Dana. But this was one time where her family came to play. Her being the grand-daughter of the Minister of Magic in France – the local diplomats had insisted that she would stay at Hogwarts hospital wing. They were going to have trouble with France anyway with letting their so-called ‘first daughter’ get wounded, so they tried their best to get into good grades in Dana’s eyes. Dana knew what their thoughts behind this were – perhaps Dana would speak for England to Julien, her grandfather and the Minister of France. Make some things a bit easier for England.
Dana hadn’t argued too much. She could help here if she was needed and she got time to think about previous events. Voldemort was obviously gaining power. Would… Could Dana retreat to France where she would be safe and leave her friends here? Friends and innocent kids who were too young to even understand everything that was going on? Yet, children had gotten hurt too… But what could Dana do that grown Aurors couldn’t? Try to keep spirits among students high? Sighing Dana rubbed her face. She would have to think and think hard over this matter.

Kris looked up curiously as an owl tapped onto the window. Who would be sending letters at this time of day? Dropping his book on the couch Kris stood and took the letter form the owl. Reading the content Kris felt his anger flare up quickly. A careless brush of his hand a vase next to him flew against the wall shattering into little pieces. Not that Kris cared much. There had been an attack at the Diagon? That part didn’t bother Kris much either. The only little detail that infuriated him was the fact that Dana had been hurt.
Showing the letter into the back pocket of his black jeans Kris grabbed a handful of floo powder. Not caring that he was wearing black Adidas sneakers, a pair of black jeans and a black T-shirt – clothes he usually didn’t wear in public. Pushing his wand into his back-pocket Kris threw the floo-powder into the fireplace stating “Hogwarts Hospital Wing” clearly. To let the parents of wounded students to come quicker they had opened Hogwarts for Floo system. Really useful. Kris wasn’t a parent exactly, but he was going to go over and see what was wrong with Dana.
Stepping out of the fire-place at Hogwarts a few moments later Kris smirked. He hadn’t wanted to come back here with these circumstances. A quick look over the Hospital wing and Kris noticed the bed Dana was in. Stomping towards it with a dark scowl on his face Kris looked at Dana. She seemed completely fine except for a small scar she was rubbing on her thumb. Feeling a bit of relief flooding into him Kris also felt fury growing inside him at the same time. Looking at the scar as he sat down onto the edge of Dana’s bed Kris looked up at his cousin with a frown: “What on earth possessed you to go and get hurt in the Diagon?” Knowing the pointlessness of these words Kris glared and asked with an icy tone instead: “What happened? And how did you get hurt?”

With the curtains around her bed half-drawn back Dana watched with only half a mind. People – even some professors – were bustling around. Madam Pomfrey must have a lot of work today. Even with the mediwizards and witches over to help. St. Mungos must be absolutely packed as well, when they sent Hogwarts students here. Looking up upon instinct basically Dana gave a hesitant smile at her cousin. Kris was obviously furious. His face was absolutely blank and emotionless but Dana knew him good enough to see the rage behind that mask.
Kris took a seat on the edge of her bed looking at the scar on her thumb for a moment. Smiling at his question Dana shifted herself and gave Kris a hug: “Death Eaters I guess. And giants. They attacked Diagon and just started to send rocks and curses out towards whoever got into the way. I got off easy with the thumb and my neck is stiff, but people got hurt! There were children there, Kris. They were just kids!” Dana didn’t continue instead just burying her face onto Kris’s shoulder finally feeling the terror of what had happened enveloping her. Death, wounds, insults, hexes – those things Dana might even understand. But when there were small children getting hurt – now that turned Dana’s anger on. Luckily Kris seemed to understand and just let Dana calm down. He didn’t offer useless words of comfort, that didn’t help.
Finally feeling calm enough again Dana leaned against a pillow again smiling tiredly at Kris as a way of saying thanks. Looking up Dana detached a letter and a package of chocolate frogs from an owls leg smiling as she read Sapphire’s get well card and note that had came with it. Placing them on her bedside cupboard Dana took out one of the chocolate frogs biting the head off. “Kris, could you do me a favour? I want to know what caused all of this. Using your heirloom ring as well as Julien’s name you might get some more info about the attack than I have. Please?” Dana said with a smile as Kris nodded and stood strolling out of the Hospital Wing with a scowl still visible on his face.

Kris had barely had time to sit down and ask what had happened before Dana engulfed him into a big hug. Pressing her face into his shoulder she told him about the attack as much as she knew about it. It was most certainly anywhere near the amount of information Kris wanted. But for now he just let Dana hold onto his shoulders while rubbing her back comfortingly. Knowing that Dana didn’t need it, Kris didn’t even bother to offer any comforting words.
Finally Dana retreated and curled up against her pillow once again while offering her a shaky smile. Kris eyed her short jean-skirt calmly noticing a tear in the material. Dana wouldn’t be happy when she discovered the tear, considering that it was one of her favorite skirts. She most certainly wouldn’t be happy with her white blouse being dirty now as well. Kris wondered briefly what had happened to her shoes considering the fact that Dana was just wearing a pair of thick white socks now. And she most certainly had had shoes – that where no where in sight – when she went out in the morning.
Dana asked Kris to get more information and Kris smirked in response. He was going to do it anyway, but since Dana asked it now, then he would go and get the information now. “I’ll go and see what I can do. Perhaps take a quick tour with the thestrals later – I’ll be back here for you later, so don’t leave without me,” Kris told Dana and leaving her eating a chocolate frog left the hospital wing to go and see what was going on. This attack was going to be a very serious blow to the Ministry of Magic in England.

" Put me down! Put me down! I said, put me down!" Cassandra yelled at the mediwizards who were trying to bring her safely into the Hospital Wing. Cassandra wanted to badly rush back to the fray and defend her friends, but before she knew it, a pair of ministry wizards had scooped her up. She was carried away kicking and screaming. Unfortunatley, kicking and screaming was about the only thing she could do with a sprained knee and a broken ankle.
The mediwizards quickly divested themselves of Cassandra and sped out the door to carry in more of the injured. A healer quickly came to her, and began to assess her injuries. " Well, Miss Blackfire, you were very lucky. Scrapes compared to most." Ignoring her tense look, the mediwizard began to feel up and down her broken foot. " It's a pretty bad fracture. Best you stay here overnight."
Cass nearly jumped out of the bed. "Overnight?! I can't stay here overnight! They are getting away!" The mediwizard tapped his wand against her chest and Cassandra released an, " Oh!" Cassandra automatically went lax as she felt a calming sensation encompass her body. She immediately quit fighting, and allowed to let the healer do his work.

As Kris left the hospital wing Dana draw the curtains around her bed closed. She didn’t need all of this right now. All she needed was to sit back and think through what she could do to help. Today, later in the war, struggle. Whatever this was. People were moving in and out of the hospital wing continuously with a couple of screams from time to time. She would prefer to stay away from the real fight if possible, but she would stand to help her friends and kids. And herself naturally. Dana inspected her nail-polish rather absent-mindedly making a mental note to fix it again later. Yup, she could fight should the need arise. But she could probably do more to help the aurors with money and aid if she bothered her grandfather and the ministry. Everybody should sick to what they were good at. And as much as aurors and someone willing to fight was needed – someone had to make sure aurors had food, clothes, money and equipment as well. An army doesn’t march on an empty stomach no matter how much patriotism it has.
Some idiot in the hospital wing yelled at the mediwizard. “They are getting away!” was a shout that reached Dana’s ears making her frown. Raising to her knees Dana pulled the curtain around her bed back snapping at who ever that idiot yelling it was: “Would you shut up and let the healers do their work? And the bloody aurors don’t you need you to get into their way at the Diagon. There’s bloody nothing you can do to help, you’d just be a nuisance!” Her eyes finally settling onto the girl who had been screaming Dana arched an eye-brow towards Cass.
“Oh, it’s you, Cass. Not too badly hurt I see, which is good. But I still stick to my words – you’d only be a bloody nuisance for the aurors in the Diagon right now,” Dana offered in a calm tone. She wasn’t going to apologize for her words, even when they might have sounded harsh. She had meant every single word she said and they were true as well. A Hogwarts student barely out of 3rd year. What could Cass do? She wouldn’t be a match for any left behind Death Eater and mediwizards knew their work too. Everybody should stick to what they were good at. And right now the smartest thing to was to settle back and think while professionals did their work.
Some photographer pointed her camera towards Dana making her sneer towards him. “Take the picture and my grandfather has you sued, out of work for good and paying me all of your money for the next 5 years in addition to the pleasure of me hexing you and blaming it on the fact you disturbed my shocked mental world after a traumatizing occurrence,” Dana threatened with a hiss probably looking like a true Slytherin. The photographer lowered his camera and stared back at Dana as some other guy dragged him away: “Come one, she will do it. She has just as explosive temper as Meredith Graas.” The photographers left leaving Dana sneering at their back. After a life-time of experience of how to be high-class she could handle people like that. But they were a nuisance. But they came with the family relations. Rubbing the small scar at her right thumb that had been broken Dana settled back against the head-board of her bed with a thoughtful scowl.

How did it all go so wrong? Ed remembered he had been in Diagon Alley, showing Dana the bookshop that he worked at. Dana had gone off to look at some of the shelves and Ed absentmindedly started to sift through some books that he was organizing. Suddenly there came a loud Boom sound from outside. The building shook and dust came falling down from the ceiling. "What was that?" Ed asked out loud and began to walk toward the stairs. Ed was half way up the stair when another earth shaking quake hit the little building and it gave. Ed let out a small yell as the stairs collapsed and Ed toppled out of sight and into a sea of wood.
Ed fell heavily on his shoulder and heard a distinct Snap! and pain raced across his shoulder and down his body. His yell was cut short as a extremely heavy beam fell down on top of him and landed square across his back. Ed felt the muscles in his back twisting awkwardly and than more wood came down and buried him alive and the world went dark. Ed foggily remembered opening his eyes just as a large beam was dragged off him. The building didn't collapse completely. Just a few pieces of the roof had caved in, but than everything went dark again.
The darkness was inviting. Ed drifted through it nonchalantly. His body was at piece and relaxed. Suddenly his back twisted without warning sending wrenching pains through his body. Ed was dragged out of the darkness and awoke in a hospital bed. Ed grimaced and cried out in pain slightly until his back spasm finally went away, for now. Now that he was awake Ed looked around. He easily recognized Hogwart's hospital wing. Ed notice the bed next to him was occupied by Dana. "Dana? Hey. Are you alright?" Dana was talking to someone else. Ed looked at the girl who she was talking to. She looked familiar but Ed didn't recognize her.

Someone addressed her from her other side and Dana glanced over. Ed has finally came to his senses appearantly. He had been out of it for a long time. “Hey, Ed,” Dana uncurled her legs once again before throwing them off her bed and stepping next to Ed’s bed as she handed him his glasses that had been laying on his bed-side table. Without a doubt he would start missing them as he always was wearing glasses when Dana had seen him. “yes, I’m fine. I didn’t get hurt very badly either-way,” Dana told Ed as she raised her thumb, “Broke my thumb, but it’s already healed. And a stiff neck. Not the most pleasurable feeling, but I got away easy compared to some others.”
Dana retreated to her bed and threw both Ed and Cass a chocolate frog before popping a grape into her mouth. Her grand-parents had had a huge fruit-dish delivered to her already. “Chocolate is supposed to help. You looked rather bad thought? What’s with you? And the same question to you Cass,” Dana stated loudly curling up on her own bed once again and looking at both sides of her in turn, “If you want fruits just come and help yourselves. Or shout and I’ll hand you some.”

Cass craned her head up to look at her surroundings. The people that had been transported to the Hospital wing was staggering. Everyone where she turned, there was another person laying in some sort of agony. Cass watched as the young mediwizard examined her swollen foot and grimaced. " Ugh, this is pretty bad. Where were you anyway when this happened?" Cass sighed. " Um, Ginny Weasley and I were in her brother's shop playing with Pygmy Puffs. I was going to buy one and the the explosion happened. Cute little guy. He probably did make it." Cass looked distraught about the sudden death of her new pet. She had literally just picked him out and was about to pay for him when the building began to shake.
Cass gratefully took the purple liquid the mediwizard had given her for pain, and he continued about his work setting her foot comfortably. " It's going to be a while, Ms. Blackfire. We've run out of some of the essential potions needed for this type of break. The Hospital Wing here just isn't ready for this many patients. Madam Pomfrey is working on a fresh batch, and as soon as it is done I will bring it." The mediwizard bustled off to go and help other patients.
Cass turned her head towards Dana and noticed the boy on the other side of her. Smiling as best she could under the circumstances. " Who's your friend, Dana? I don't think we've been introduced. I'm Cass by the way." She directed the last sentence towards the boy that lay on Dana's other side.
Propping herself up on her elbow, she she grimaced a bit as her foot gave a throb. " So, what were you doing in Diagon? I was actually going to buy one of those cute Pygmy Puffs in the Weasley's shop, and then suddenly, - BOOM," Cass imitated the sound that had emminated through the street. " Didn't really see that coming did we? I mean, they had gumption enough to attack a street filled with people. Makes me wonder how they did it though."
Continuing on with her banter, Cass detailed her supposed injuries. " Oh chocolate! Throwing me some will you! Anyways, the mediwizard thinks I broke my foot, and I know there is something wrong with me knee. My mother will freak out I know. Remember the attack at the end of the school year? Well, my mother was livid that I was hurt. It was a minor injury. Look at my poor cousin. Broken ribs and a punctured lung."

Ed gratefully reached out for his glasses that Dana was holding out. As he reached though his shoulder gave a sudden cry of pain and he grimaced. He looked and noticed fro the first time that his shoulder was in a sling. He than changed hands and grabbed the glasses with the other hand and placed them on his head. Ed smirked as he listened to Dana tell of her injuries. "Looks like you got better off than me. Looks like my shoulder is broken and I keep getting back spasms." He sighed and layed down on the bed. Ed felt the chocolate frog land on his chest and he picked it up and opened it and ate it. "Ah, thanks. I feel better already."
Just than another voice joined in and Ed turned his head and saw a young girl on the other side of Dana. The girl introduced herself as Cass and than told the story of what happened to her. "Nice to meet you. My name is Edward. Me and Dana where in Diagon Alley together. I was showing her the book shop I work at. I heard explosions and as I tried to climb up the stairs the building collapsed." He layed down and than groaned. "Oh no! I hope Mr. and Mrs. Hardy are alright. Plus I've also lost my weekday job now. I hope I can afford my school equipment."
