Kelsey, who was sitting in a dark corner in the very back so that no one had noticed her, started to, carefully, sliced five unther petals. Sap started to come from the petals. Kelset tilted her small bowl with the petals and drained the unther sap into a small glass vial.
Kelsey then added the sap to her boiling liquid and waited as it turned black. she smiled triumphantly and wauted for more instructions.

Severus looked in disgust as most students were showing pathetic potions. Waving his wand he put the final set of instructions on the board for all.
Put out your flame and slowly stir for 5 minutes then allow the potion to cool. Once the surface has hardened your potion is read. Fill a cup with your potion, then empty the rest into a large potion flask.
“When you are finished, you will test your own potion on yourself. Drink your cup, mind you that if your potion is not the right color, I’d strongly suggest you drink it and then have two people escort you to the hospital wing. Worthless potions will be remade tonight, and you will stay until it is done correctly! Those few of you who actually manage to survive your potion with little ill effects shall bring me your potion flask clearly marked with your name on it. Then get out!”<br> Snape then crossed his arms and eyed the students waiting for them to sample their potions.

Kelsey stared at the Potions master for a second. He was acting quite irrational as nothing really big had happened yet... she sighed and read the board once again.
she turned off the flame and started to stir her potion. It cooled as she did so for five minutesm just as the Potion Master had said. She let it cool for a little whil e longer after it had hardened. Then, after checking the board, she put some into a small cup and the rest she poured into a flask. She looked down at the liquid in the cup, suddenly thinking twice about this whole thing. she stared at the black liquid and she felt her stomache clench. She did not want to do this. But she lifted the cup to her lips and drank the foul tasting potion.

Snape watched the class and the first to test their potion was a Hufflepuff girl. Walking over to the girl after she had drank her cup Snape looked at her. Her face was turning a bit red, looking more closey at her eyes, the whites of her eyes were turning slightly pink. "Ms. Maddison, you did not grind the grindy weeds into a fine enough powder, hence the reason you are now blushed." Snape then took out his wand and pointed it at the girl "finite efficax fons" a soft glow emitted from the wand and engulfed the girl for a brief moment returning her face and eyes to their normal color. "A decent attempt at a potion though I doubt Madam Pomfrey will make it her first choice. Take 5 points for your effort, clean up your things then you may leave."
Snape then returned to the front of the class and waited for the next student.

Jordan looked up at the board and smiled. Though she did not get along well with Snape, the one thing Jordan knew was potions. She read the handwriting and looked down at her ingredients.
"Ok." She muttered quietly so Snape wouldnt hear her. She made sure he didnt hear her and then went back to her potions. She picked up the first salt pepper and started to grind. She ground for about 3 minutes and then felt the powder with her fingers. Not fine enough, so she continued to grind. When it looked fine she sifted it and smiled, continuing to the next one. She ground all the peppers to a fine powder and then sprinkled it into her potion. She then stirred her potion slowly as Snape had instructed and watched it simmer. She continued to stir until the once clear murky brown potion turned into a deep pruple. She smiled tirumphantly and sat back in her seat. She then grabbed her potion phial and drank the deep purple liquid. She then put a stopper in the phial and walked up to the front to hand to Professor Snape.

Kelsey felt embarassed for not getting her potion right. She sighed and cleaned up her mess with a slight blush in her cheeks. She did, however, feel glad that her efforts were rewarded and five points for Hufflepuff. She smiled then realizing that her houses five more points ahead! she finished cleaning her things and wrote her name, clearly (so that she was not scolded for) on the flask containing her potion and went up to the front of the classroom where Snape stood. She then felt slightly confused.
"Um, professor, since my potion was not quite right, do i still turn it in?" she asked politly and slightly quiet as she didn't want to seem rude or sarcastic. She was just confused as the Potion's Master always made her slightly nervous.

Her fear of Professor Snape along with the fact she was very good and staying quiet and following directions meant that she was actually rather good at Potions. In truth, it wasn't a natural talent, she just did her potion's very slowly and carefully so she rairly made a mistake.
Once her cutting was done, she placed then into her cauldron, and let it boil, trying to follow the directions perfectly. Looking up at the board again, she saw that it now said to grind salt peppers and sprinkle it in. She did this while she waited for her potion to turn orange.
Once it did, she sprinkled in the salt peppers she had ground into a fine powder and lowered the heat until it simmered. She was thankful at this point that she always use to help her mom cook back in her muggle world. If it weren't for that, she would have been lost in potions.
After a while, the potion started to turn purple. "Thank Merlin" she whispered under her breath, thoughs he still wans't sure she had put in enough salt peppers.
She then looked up and tried to see what Professor Snape was doing. He seemed to be talking to a student and seeing who else was done. She nodded slightly, trying to tell her self it was now or never. She then filled a cup with her potion, and then put the rest in a flask she had already marked with her name. She then took a deep breath and drank what she had poured into her cup, looking over to find Snape right after she did.

Ivy added her carefully chopped ash roots to the cauldron and allowed it to simmer. It turned out a sort of reddish-orange. Fairly bright. 'Hmm,' she murmured unhappily. She wasn't sure about this potion at all.
Cautiously, Ivy ground her salt peppers until they were a very fine powder. She'd taken rather a long time about it. Some of the other students were already finishing. And managing to get out of this place.
Ivy added the salt peppers, stirring. The potion did turn purple. At first she was worried that it wasn't going dark, but after enough time it went a sort of dark violet colour. Ivy hoped that was right. She wasn't sure if she had overdone it.
Ivy had heard Professor Snape say they had to drink it. She wasn't sure that was such a good idea in her case. How was she supposed to be sure she wasn't going to get really ill from this? She was sure it would be against the Muggle health and safety rules. They did have some benefits, she decided, dreading what she had to do.
Ivy looked to Nokomis, but she was in the act of drinking her potion and didn't return the glance. Ivy filled her flask, hoping she was going to be allright to hand it in by the time she'd drunken her potion, put her name on it, and then filled a cup. Her hands shaking slightly, and her head full of misgivings about what she was about to do, Ivy tipped to cup back and drank the potion, which she soon found was rather vile tasting. She hoped that didn't mean something bad.
Ivy looked over to Professor Snape, who she hoped would be coming this way soon. She wasn't feeling any ill effects at the moment though, so that was a good sign. Did these things take effect immediately?

Kiyla sighed as she poured her ash roots into the water and let it simmer. She smiled to herself as she saw it turn to an orange color. She was good at Potions though not the best. She looked up at the board and nodded to herself.
She began to ground her salt peppers and it took longer than she thought but she wanted to get it perfect so she didn't mind really. She sprinkled some the powder in her cauldern and stirred it slowly letting it simmer. When she thought she had stirred good enough she looked into her cauldren.
Not a deep purple but still purple, She thought with a satifified smirk. She poured herself a cup with the potion then put the rest in her flask. She wrote her name in it then looked into her cup grimly.
"Bottoms up." She said to Payton as she lifted the cup to her lips to drink it.
I am so going to have to brush my teeth after this. She thought to herself. She wanted to spit it out but decided against it and swallowed it.

Brett had been in the corner. Next to Kelsey. He didn't talk, nor look at her. He was busy.Grabbing the grindy weeds he choppped them into chunks, and then as the Professor had instructed, he ground them into a fine powder. He made sure they were fine enough, considering he didn't want to blush like Kelsey had and then added that to the potion. He turned the flame to low and watched it, making sure it stayed that way. He then stirred it until it was a deep gray, hoping he was doing it correctly. He then sliced his unther petals and watched as the sap began to emerge. He sighed and then titlted the leaf into a funnel, causing the sap to poor into a glass vial. He then poured the sap into the potion and stirred the potion over a high flame. It started to a very deep black. He nodded, poured some into a small cup and then the remaining into an empty vial, put a stopper in it and took the dirnk from the cup.

Sapphire walked down to Potions feeling slightly apprehensive about what they would be doing today, but not unduly worried. She was quite good at Potions, although it was always much more pleasant to have a friendly teacher. She took a seat in the middle of the classroom, on her own, filled her cauldron with fresh water and waited for the class to begin.
She listened carefully as Snape gave them instructions for the potion. It didn't do to get the slightest thing wrong; it could have catastrophic effects for your potion.
Sapphire chopped her grindy weeds efficiently but also carefully, and then took a pestle and mortar with which to grind them. She lit a flame under her cauldron, and then added the powder to the water. She wondered what purpose the water served in the potion; whether it was a main component or whether it was just to liquify it.
She stirred as she heated the potion, and was glad to find that the potion in time turned grey. She continued stirring a little longer, and it turned a little darker. It wasn't really dark, but it was dark enough, she thought, although she couldn't be sure.
Biting her lip, she sliced the unther petals, and as the sap began to ooze out she drained it into a vial. She looked at the result with satisfaction and added the contents of the vial to the rest of her potion. She turned the flame to high and waited. Eventually the potion turned a deep black. Sapphire looked at it in relief as she had just heard Professor Snape say they would have to drink it. Maybe it wouldn't kill her, at any rate.
She turned off the flame and started to stir, her arm aching. Once she had stirred for five minutes, she waited for the potion to cool. After a while the surface hardened and Sapphire looked at the potion, pleased. She filled a cup with the potion, wondering about how wise it was to actually drink the thing, and then took a large potion flask and filled it. That nearly emptied her cauldron.
Sapphire looked over to Professor Snape. She hoped he would come soon after she'd drunk this thing. She looked at the black liquid inside the cup and, without further ado, drunk it.
