The potions classroom was in the castle dungeon, two flights down from the Great Hall. Row after row of desks sat with cauldrons and measuring tools waiting for the students' arrival. The room itself was dark with no windows providing sunlight and only a handful of candles illuminating the room. The blackboard contained two sets of instructions, the first being "Fill your cauldrons with fresh water." The second instruction being written in larger writing, "Sit down and be quiet!" The clock in the classroom slowly ticked as the hour of class drew closer.
Severus Snape sat in his office a few doors away from the potions classroom savoring the last few seconds of silence before he would be subjected to the stupidity of the masses that populated the castle.

Jordan entered the dungeon, out of breath, pig tails in a mess and lips chapped. She licked her lips and set her things down in a middle table. She undid her first pigtail and then redid it, then repeated the procedure with her other piece of hair. When she was finished she smiled to herself and sat down,
"Sit down be quiet. Okay. Fill cauldron with fresh water. Hmm." She read to herself as she pulled out her wand. She swished it over the cauldron and water appeared.
"Humph." She said to herself as she sat down in her seat once more. She stared blankly at the board waiting, for class to start.

Kiyla hurried to Potions praying that she wouldn't be late. She crept in quietly to see she wasn't and quickly took a seat in on of teh corners.
She put her things down and looked up at the board. "Fill your cauldrons with fresh water. Sit down and be quiet!" She mumbled the instructions to herself.
She sighed and followed the directions and remained silent waiting for the class hour to start and then end.

Potions. It was the class that every non-slyterin student dreaded. Being a Hufflepuff, he stepped into the classroom with a rather large feeling of dread. He saw a small cluster of Hufflepuffs gathered off to one side and he started to head in that direction. He wished that Dillion would hace left with him instead of insisting on sleeping in and going to a late breakfast....one of these days he was sure his twin could get in over his head.
He saw what he thought seemed to be like the forming of the Hufflepuff quidditch team--he had only seen them once when they had come back from the a pratice, but they seemed to be a familiar looking grou of girls. He noticed that one of them had an empty seat beside her, and a few steps closer and he noticed that it was Kiyla--a girl he had met outside one night.
"Saving it for anyone?" he asked, pointing to the seat beside her

Kamron looked up at the clock just in time. He had a habit of being almost late for his classes, but Potions was not the class to be almost late for. He had cut it a little too close a few times, and that had placed him on Professor Snape’s list of students to watch. Decided that he better get on his way, he gathered up the books he had spread around the desk in the library and dropped them into his bag before heading off down the hall.
As she stepped inside the always dark and dank potions class room and saw that quite a few students had already gathered there. He immediately ran through a mental list of everyone--as his obsession with psychology made him very aware of everyone's name and basic social behavior. He then found a seat close to the front, and after following the boards instructions of filling his cauldron with water, he sat down and waiting to begin.

She hated potions. She had an undying fear of Professor Snape--and instead of looking more manageable her second year, he looked only more terrifying.
She hurried into class and was happy to see Ivy already there. She tried not to be too early for Potions, as sitting there alone didn't make Professor Snape look any better. She walked over to the table Ivy was at and sad down, giving her friend a weak smile as she it into her lip, lookind up at the board, so she could follow the instructions there.

Kiyla looked blankly at the board as she finished filling her bowl. She was lost in her own thoughts when someone blocked her view. She lazily looked up to see Payton, the boy she had meet before.
"Nope. Not unless you wanted it to be." Kiyla said coming back to her senses and smiling at Payton. She made sure her things were out of the way and went back to staring off into space, but this time she had different thoughts.

He dropped his bag on the floor and too his seat, looking up and quickly scanning the board for the things he had to do. He smiled slightly at what Professor Snape had written, no wonder people didn't like his class.
He used his wand to fill his cauldron before looking over at Kiyla again and smiled, resisting the urge to ask her if she was day dreaming.

((I'm confused... I think my last post must have been deleted when Potions got split into two... Oh well.))
Ivy walked down to the dungeons alone, the weekly sense of forboding growing in her. Potions was hardly her strongest subject and the fact she had to do it with the constant fear of Professor Snape breathing down her neck only served to make it her most hated subject of the week.
She entered the classroom cautiously, trying not to make any noise so as not to draw attention to herself. She glanced around in horror. She was one of the first ones there. She didn't want to take a seat too near to the front, but she was hardly going to head straight for the back seats either.
Ivy could feel Professor Snape's eyes on her back. 'Oh no,' she thought, 'what have I done now?' She hurriedly set her stuff down on a nearby desk, dropping her quill. Why did she have to be clumsy when it mattered? she wondered, bending down to pick it up, hoping that Professor Snape wasn't watching her every move.
She turned to look at the board. 'Fill your cauldrons with fresh water' and 'Sit down and be quiet' were the two instructions provided there. Ivy filled her cauldron as efficiently and unnoticably as possible, luckily without any mishaps, and then sat down at her desk nervously, hoping she wasn't going to do anything wrong that lesson.
The class slowly began to fill up. Ivy felt relief as she knew Professor Snape's attention might be slightly more divided. Eventually Nokomis arrived, sitting next to her. Ivy returned her smile without making a noise. She really didn't want to get on the wrong side of Professor Snape any more than the average student was.

He didn't stress over getting to class early as the other students did. He was very fond of sleeping in, and even Snape wasn't going to get in the way of that.
The clock on the wall ticked to exaclty time for class just after he stepped inside the class room, a bright grin on his face. Not even Snape could bring him down when he had a series of pranks on his mind.
He noticed that Jordan was here, and that Payton was sitting next to a girl. Well, if his normally potion's resourse was busy, he would jsut have to use another. He sat down in the seat beside Jordan, moving in rather exagerated, not to meantion loud ways.

Jordan looked to her right.
"oy! Hey!" She said as she smiled at Dillion. She closed her notebook and turned to see her friend. Dillion and her were exactly like each other. Troublemakers and pranksters, they loved a good laugh and they were great masterminds when it came to making up something to do. She wondered what he had on his mind right then.

The clock now showed one minute until the class was to begin. Standing up, Severus Snape pocketed his wand and walked out of his office into the dungeon corridor. A few feet away he saw tardy students rushing into class. With a sneer on his face, Severus walked over to the doorway and entered the room. Grabbing the door with his hand he slammed it shut creating a thunderous boom that was to silence any would be talkers.
Walking up to the front of the room he spotted the two Dillon twins in the room. Stopping suddenly he turned to face the nearest one, “5 points from Hufflepuff. You two no doubt did something juvenile in my absence and thus need punishment. And if you so much as think about goofing off I will have you polishing every plate in the great hall daily until the end of the term!”
Severus then walked to the front of the classroom and surveyed most the students with utter contempt. “As Halloween is approaching some genius decided it would be a good idea to have a ball and numerous sweets for you to gorge yourselves on. I disagreed to the idea as did Madam Pomfrey as this is not a place for gluttony and dressing up in ridiculous costumes." Snape paused for a moment to eye the students once more. “In any event, Madam Pomfrey expects a great many of you to eat yourself sick so she has asked that we brew her some healing potions so she will have ample in stock, as well as other healing potions she’ll need.” Snape then took out his wand and pointed it at the board and writing appeared. “Beginners, you will be working on simple upset stomach cures, your first steps are on the board.”
Beginners
1. Dice two ash roots into small ½ inch cubes and place into cauldron 2. Boil cauldron allowing roots to simmer, stir potion vigorously until the potions turns a bright orange
“OWL students, you have shown some skill in potions, you will be working on potions to cure a common cold.
OWLS
1. Chop grindy weeds into small chunks then ground them into a fine powder 2. Add gridy weed powder to water and slowly heat over a low flame 3. Stir occasionally until potions turned dark grey
“NEWTS, you’ve managed to show competency enough to be allowed in my NEWTS class. You will be working on a new potion that Madam Pomfey says will prevent you from getting colds and the flu.
NEWTS
1. Crush lilac petals into a powder 2. Chop kingbelery vines into small bits 3. Boil your potions over a high flame 4. Carefully add lilac powder while stirring constantly 5. Add kingbelery bites one by one, stir vigorously after he bit is added. When potion turns white stop stirring.
“I suggest you all get started now and follow the directions carefully because you will taste test your own potion before you leave today. The ingredients you need are in the back cabinets, now get to work and be QUIET!”
Jordan's jaw dropped. What the?! She sighed loudly and rolled her eyes, stacking her books on top of each other loudly and shoving them aside. Then a thought sprang upon her. She smiled wickedly and shoved all her books, her cauldron, and anything else of hers on the floor.
"Oops." She said innocently. She then looked down at her books, then at Snape. That was stupid, what motivated her to do that, oh yeah, BOREDOM!

Severus heard a loud crashing sound, looking up he found books and a cauldron on the floor! Narrowing his eyes on the girl he glared at her. Walking over to her desk he looked at her books that were on the floor. "Miss Cortes, the floor is NOT a trash can throw your books away somewhere else, clean it up right now. And since you don't see the value in a good cauldron, you will report to Professor Frostner after class. I believe the house elves need their linens laundered, they'll be quite appreciative of you once you wash all their burlap sacks by hand. Oh, and if I'm not mistaken you just made the Hufflepuff team, if you even think about another accident you can bloody well forget flying around on your little broom. 10 Points from Hufflepuff!"
Snape then walked around the room eying the rest of the students with contempt. "Anyone else care to play around in class?" He asked as he crossed his arms and leaned against the wall.

Jordan galred at Snape as he walked away then turned to Dillion.
"Its not like I dont have to clean their sacks anyway. I do it for help." She whispered under her breath. But the thought of losing flying now that was something she was frightened of.

She cringed at the professor's harsh words, and she bit her lip to try and give herslef someting else to think about. She was terrified of the potions professor.
She let her gaze drop down her cauldron, and she gathered up her ash root and started to cut it, trying to make sure that every cube was the right size.

Ivy looked at Nokomis in horror as Professor Snape began docking points indiscriminantly, and in some cases entorely unfairly. She just hoped he didn't take points off her for being incompetent. She knew it wasn't beyond him.
Ivy took her ash roots, her hands shaking. 'Stop shaking, please stop shaking', she willed them. It didn't really work. She started to dice them, taking care to make them the right size. Not all of them were exactly cube shaped, she thought regretfully, continuing in worry.

Kiyla jumped as Snape closed teh door loudly causing her to awake from her daydream. She looked over at Payton who looked like he was about to ask her something but he decided against it. Kiyla listened as the Professor gave instructions and Kiyla got up to get ash roots.
When she was walking to get seat after getting them Snape was growling at Jordon. Kiyla quickly got back into her seat and grabbed her knife. She quickly yet quietly cut her cubes ignoring the voices and sounds of chopping around her.

Five points? And for once he had entered potions class with the best of behaviors in mind...true, he had managed to set a bunch of sparks loose on Snape's robe the last class of his fifth year...just to top off his list of innocent pranks for the year.
He rolled his eyes and shrugged, it wouldn't be the first time he lost points. He then glanced over at Dillion, who never missed a beat at point deductions--though if he knew his brother, he would do something much more deserving by the end of class. He wondered if Snape would ever figure out which one of them ever actually did the prank. It always seemed that to their potions Professor, the two lost house points as a pair.
He glanced over at Kiyla and gave her a crooked 'oh well' smile before starting in on his ingrediants.

Snape stood at the front watching the pathetic attempts by most the students, most of the potions would have to be thrown out. Pointing his wand at the board he put up the next set of instructions. "Your instructions are on the board, i suggest you all follow them! Otherwise most of you will be here doing your potions again tonight and you will stay until they have been done correctly!"

NEWTS
6. Slice five finnwelle berries and remove the seed from each 7. Add finnwelle berries to your potion 8. Add ½ a liter of salt water 9. Stir potion vigorously until it turns a bright green
