Where's my candy!?

Kim rubbed the red hair dye into her hair and threw the bottle down onto her bed. While dye spilt out upon her quilt she feverishly rubbed the dye into her hair. Then looking at the instructions she ran down out of the dormitory towards the bathroom where she rinsed her hair out in the sink. Standing up she found the sink was now a bright pink color, “ooh that’s not supposed to be pink” Kim said as she looked at the sink in confusion. Shaking her head she dried her hair and then looked at it in the mirror, her normal light brown hair was gone and instead there was a bright red hair. “Yay!” Kim said triumphantly as she ran back to her dormitory and began to put on the rest of her costume. Pulling on the little top, the skirt then the socks. When both socks were on Kim carefully tucked two small plastic bags into her socks then tied her shoes, stood up and grabbed two poms poms then ran out of the dormitory and out of the common room.

In less than a minute Kim was dashing down the steps on her way to the Great Hall. When she reached the balcony she peered over and found that Nokomis was not yet there, she was supposed to meet Nokomis downstairs by the Great Hall entrance near the benches and the statues. Skipping down the steps towards her destination Kim began to quietly sing to herself, “ooh I’m an average girl and I can save the world you can’t stop me, I’m Kim Posssss-eeeee-ble….” When she reached the bottom the steps she walked over to the bench and took a seat. Bending down she removed one of the bags from her sock and opened it up, she remembered this time to bring bags for all the trick or treat candy that you could get at the Halloween feast! Swinging her bag around she tried to get it to open up fully whilst she continued to sing “there is nothing I can’t do, when there is danger.. and you know I’m on my way if you just call me.. or beep me… cause everything’s gonna be alright… yea call me I can save the day….” When the bag was fully open Kim set it down and looked around for the nearest candy dish, there had to be on around somewhere, and where was Nokomis anyway? Kim wasn’t going to wait here forever, she knew, she just knew that there were probably tons and tons of candy just inside the Great Hall…<br>

She had spent her afternoon with Ivy, Kiyla and Jordan trying to get ready for the ball. She had decided to go as a cat. It was the costume she wore for Halloween the year before, so it was easy for her to put together. She just found some black clothes that she brought, and Ivy helped her make a tail. Then Jordan and Kiyla did her make up. When she was finally ready, she could hardly wait to get downstairs and meet Kim.

She almost skipped down the stairs to the great hall. She was with her friends though, and that alwas made her feel better. Once they reached the hall thought, the seperated, Kiyla and Jordan both off to find the Moore twins that were their dates, and she needed to find Kim.

Of course, Kim never was hard to find. She could hear her sining all the way from the stairs. She remember the tune too. It was from a TW show she use to watch durring the summer. It made her laugh, it was so fitting for her friend.

"Kim!"
She called, now trotting her way throught he crowd towards her friend.

Kim had to wait only a short time before Nokomis came down dressed like a cat. “ooh nice costume!” Kim said as she got up and held onto her candy bag. “Come on lets go inside, I want to get some candy before they’re all gone.” As Kim ran into the Great Hall she saw several other people already there, though she was a bit disappointed in the fact that no one gave her candy as she came in. Looking around though she did quickly find some tables full of stuff free for the taking! Opening up her bag she walked to the nearest table and began to stuff handfuls of candy and chocolate into her bag before it was full. At which time she pulled her other bag out and began to fill that one up too. “Here hold this” she said as she handed a bag to Nokomis and used both hands to stuff her other bag.

Once finished and happy with her stash of candy, Kim looked around. There was a dance floor, but she didn’t really want to dance. There was a desert table too, she kind of wanted to eat her candy though not get desserts, but she supposed she could very well get some dessert anyway. “Hm, what do you want to do now?” Kim asked as she looked around for an empty table and walked over to it.

She grabbed the bag that Kim had pushed at her and held it in silence as her friend shoveled more candly into the other bag. She looked down at the pile of candy in the one that she was holding. Kim sure did like candy.

She then looked up at Kim again, and almost laughed, the fourth year was so enthusiastic about everything, even candy.

She followed Kim over to the empty table and saw down. She had grabed a handful of candy while she was waiting for her friend to finishing filling her bag, and now she unwrapped a piece.

"I don't know....what do you want to do?"
She never was any good at coming up with ideas.

"Huh" Kim said as she grabbed a plate and made her way over to a desert table loaded with cakes and pies. "Right" she continued to Nokomis not really paying any attention to what she was saying as she instead focused her energy on the house elf in front of her. "Whats that?" Kim said as she pointed to a lemon cake, and son followed up with inquiries about the blueberry pie, apple danishes and then puddings. Each question was promptly answered by the house elf as Kim nodded slightly and tried to take it all in but for the most part she wasn't really paying attention. "I want that one" Kim said as she pointed to the lemon cake and held out her plate.

Upon receiving her plate she walked back to a table and sat down. Abandoning her new piece of cake in an instnat Kim grabbed a treat bah and opened it up. Inside she found a deck of playing cards with pumpkins on them. "ooooh!" Kim said as she unwrapped the cards and shuffled them. "Want to see a magic trick?" Kim said as she dealt out 21 cards face down and didn't wait for Nokomis to answer. "OK, pick a card.... oh .. hey... wait.." Kim said as she turned over all the cards face up. "OK, sorry, you have to see the cards to pick one OK you pick one... wait, don't tell me though, OK? oK.. you pick a card..." Kim then waited for Nokomis. Instead Kim took back her plate and began to poke it with her fork until a few small chunks and began to stuff her mouth as she watched some older students on the dance floor.

She was still carrying Kim's second candy bag as her friend moved to the table with the baked deserts. She knew that in a way Kim had almost forgotten her. Kim was always thinking about her stomack, and right now it was smelling cake.

After her friend got her lemon cake, she asked for blueberry pie, which was her favorite desert. She heard the house elf say that it was one of their coices when Kim ran through the long list of deserts, so she didn't even have to ask. She sighed a breath of relief at that. She hated having to ask people things, it always made her embarased.

She then followed after him again, trying to balance her pie and Kim's candy. Once they reached the table she sat down and sighed again, tryign to get herself to relax. Crowds like this always made her tense up, at least she wa here with Kim, and nothing seemed to brother Kim.

Then Kim started witht he cards and her magic trick. Every time she opened her mouth to make a comment about the trick, Kim said something else. That was until Kim started eating her cake and her attention went to the crowd. She scanned the cards and finally decided the 7 of clubs was her card. There were seven plays on a quidditch team, and she always liked clubs because her mom always refered to it as puppy feet instead.

"Do I just think of the card?"
She asked Kim, wondering if her friend had forgotten about the magic trick all together.

Kim looked up from her cake when Nokomis said she had a question. "oh um yea you just look at the card and memorize it ok? OK.. so, what column is your card in, 1, 2 or 3?" Kim shoved her cake away and looked intently at the cards. "Hey do you like Hogsmeade? I mean have you ever gone there before you know like not from school since you are too young to go yet but like maybe on vacation you got to go once before maybe? Like I used to go all the time before I came to Hogwarts because my mum would always like to go get groceries at the store in Hogsmeade because the grocery stores by our house were always so crowded and like people were always busy and pushing and stuff and then like the people who worked there were really dumb and they had to stop like every two minutes to ask for price checks and they couldn't just open the book that they have at their tables and look because all the prices are on those books I know because I saw one and it had all the prices for everything in the store. Did you know that they charge more for oranges in the winter than they do in the summer? I didn't know why but when I saw the book it had oranges and it had like five different prices for the oranges and stuff I didn't look at banannas because I wasn't supposed to have seen the book because the woman at the register saw me and she closed the book and took it away but I didnt' take it out she had left it there so I just looked at it I wasn't going to steal it or anything but she took it away. So thats why my mum goes to Diagon Alley a lot too because its not as crowded. Well it's crowded there too but like not as crowded as the grocery store or the mall do you have malls where you live? I like the mall near my house it's got this big giant thing that you can climb on and if you get all the way to the top you get a prize, I've never made it to the top I always slip and fall about half way up but it's ok because they have those ropes that they put on your and then you fall down and then the ropes catch you and keep you from falling and hurting yourself."

Kim then paused and looked at the cards, "so where is your card what column huh? 1, 2 or 3?"

She was about to say what column when Kim started off about shopping and Hogesmead, so she fell silent again and listened to her friend, struggling, as always, to keep up with her speeding thoughts. She had opened her mouth to reply about half way though, but Kim never missed a beat, so she waited until her friend repeated the origional question to answer.

"Coloum 3"

She replied quickly before she started to answer something else, trying not to give too much of a brek or Kim would start talking again.

"And have never been to Hogesmead. I was raised muggle, and I'm too young to have gone for school"

Kim shook her head at Nokomis "You have to go to Hogsmeade you have to it's super fun there because there aren't parents there. Well there are parents there but they aren't your parents so you can do more stuff and then the professors that go there don't really want to be bothered by you so they let you do what you want as long as you are not doing something thats really really bad you know?" Kim said as she took the 3rd column and put the cards back into the deck and re shuffled the 1st and 2nd columns some more.

"Like last year I went to Hogsmeade but I wasn't supposed to but then someone showed me how to get there and it was pretty cool because we got to go through a tree and then we got to slide down a slide and it was dark but they had a lot of pillows and then I was screaming all the way down I think it's by the lake but I could go find her and ask her to show me where it is again but it's really fun and it's an easy way to get there you just have to promise that you won't go showing everyone in school where it is so that no everyone can go there that way because we're not supposed to be there all the time, you know once in a while is OK but if they see you there all the time then they think you're doing something and then they have to start like following you and then they can find the way back then that won't be good because they'll close it down and then we'll have to find a new way to get there. I don't tell everyone how to get there though it's a secret you know so you can't tell people either because then it won't be much of a secret so you have to keep it a secret." Kim then set down the cards into 4 rows, "OK which row is your card in now?"

She tired to keep with with Kim as she talked about a way to get to Hogsmead, but by the time her friend was done, she though her head was spinning and all she could remember was something about how there was a slide with pillows and she couldn't tell anyone.

She then looked down at the cards again, and pointed to the second row before looking up at her friend.

"I don't tell anyone, I promise. It sounds fun though....I can't wait until I'm old enough to go to Hogsmead"

Kim looked down at the 2 rows of cards she still had in her hand and looked at Nokomis. "What?" She asked as she looked at her cards then pulled out a 7 of Hearts. "Is this your card? Oh no wait.. no not that one" she said as she shoved the card into the deck and took the Ace of Spades and looked at it. "THIS ONE!" she said triumphantly and she curiously looked at the card that she had taken from the deck. For a while Kim sat quiet as she looked at the cards and tried to remember what she was supposed to do, for her trick to work she needed to have 3 rows of cards but there were only 2 rows, where did the last row go? The last row was where Nokomis' card was but it was gone!? "Hey where did those other cards go?" Kim asked a she put the Ace back in the deck and looked on the seat for the cards. "Oh well thats a good card trick its like really cool, the first time I saw it was when Valerie showed it to me when I was in my first year and someone told her to do it to see if it could make me quiet because they all thought I was making too much noise in the Common Room that night but I really wasn't!! They were playing exploding snaps or something I don't know what all I know is that it was making lots and lots of noise. So anyway Valerie showed me the trick and I was like Oooooh Cooooooool!!! When she first showed it to me I thought that it was like real magic you know like the kind that magicians do!! Do you know what a magician is? That is what muggles call wizards but they call them magicians too something they say they can do magic but most of their stuff is just trickery and like fooling someone but it's still really cool. Well so then when Valerie did it I was all cooooooool!!! And then I made her do it again and I tried to find out what she was doing but I couldn't figure it out so I thought she was using a real magic trick because I couldn't figure it out! Isn't that cool!?"

Kim then shoved her cards back into the little box and returned her attention to her cakes that she had neglected for the past few moments. "While she was taking a bite she heard Nokomis promise to not tell anyone. "Oh thats good because they this is a secret and I'm not supposed to tell anymore and they wouldn't tell me either but I promised I wouldn't tell anyone! So if I tell you then you can't tell anyone well it's not really a secret it's more of something that not everyone is supposed to know. A secret is more like someone is hiding something that they don't want other people to know about like if you cheat on a test and you are trying to hide it and so it's a secret so you wouldn't tell people anyway if it was a secret so I don't think that this is a really true secret you know? More like something that not everyone should know about, so anyway do you want to go to Hogsmeade with me sometime? It's quite fun there I know where all the good shops and since I'm small and you are small too we can squeeze through the crowds if there are any and we can get into the shops and get our stuff and pay and then leave before the crowds get too big because I don't like crowds. But you have to be careful though too because if you are small like we are people don't see you and then this one time, at Hogsmeade this big wizard was walking in the aisle and he stopped and I stopped behind him and I tried to go around him but he backed up and he stepped on me and he didn't even see me and I fell to the ground and he looked down at me and said like "ooh little girl where are your parents?" and I was like hey I'm not that little I'm 13! And he called me a liar and said that little girls shouldn't lie it's not lady like or something and then my mom came over and she was like Kim come over here now! Leave that man alone and I was like mooooom he stepped on me!!! But mom didn't listen to me, does your mom listen to you?" Kim then grabbed her butterbeer and gulped down several sips, for some reason she was quite thirsty.
