Mary left her room and went exploring the castle. It was nice and empty because most people were still unpacking in their rooms. It was nice and warm inside despite all the snow that could be seen outside the window. There was no doubt about it, it was a beautiful castle.
Mary turned the corner of one of the vast hallways and noticed someone coming toward her. She brushed her strawberry blond hair out of her eyes to get a better view of who it was. She then smiled as she realised it was Jasmine Anderson. “Hey” she said, “finished unpacking already?”
Jasmine was in her room with Morgan unpacking all the stuff that fit in her shoulder bag. She took out her favorite pare of pajamas and folded them up neatly and put it in her side of the room. This took at least ten minutes for her to do and she let her orange and white kitten lose from her tiny little basket. Jasmine laughed as the Lilly tried to jump on her bed but feel slightly. She walked over towards her cat and picked her up and helped her on her bed. "Now you be good and try not to get into trouble." Jasmine told her kitten and petting her lightly on the head. Jasmine turned around at Morgan and smiled, "I am goanna go out and explore a bit I will try to be in before curfew." Jasmine said putting on her warmest fleece sweat shirt and walked out of the room leaving Morgan to unpack. She knew that she would find something to do that would entertain herself.
As Jasmine walked around the castle she stopped and admired its beauty. She had read about the castle in a book because she wonted to know the history on it. Jasmine continued to walk around and admired its beauty. As she turned the corner she noticed her friend Mary Evans a third year Slytherin which she had met in Diagon Ally. Jasmine smiled warmly at the girl and walked over towards her casually. When she was face to face with Mary she smiled, "Hey Mary wont to explore the castle with me I just finished my unpacking?" Jasmine said hoping that the younger girl will say yes.

“Sounds great” Mary said. “Have you ever been to Switzerland before?” she asked as the girls continued down the hallway. Mary then stopped to admire the view out of one of the vast windows. ‘Looks bloody cold out’ she thought to herself, she was glad she had thought to wear a fuzzy warm blue sweater and a pair of black jeans that had been enchanted to always keep her the perfect temperature.
“So, where to?” Mary asked, snapping out of her trance. All of a sudden she realised how hungry she was. “Want to go find some food?”
Jasmine was relieved that the girl said yes to explore with her. As they walked down the long hallways filled with partitas of people fighting or greeting them as they walked by. Jasmine nodded her head at the girl as she asked if she has ever been to Switzerland, "No I haven’t so it’s a real treat for my to come here." Jasmine said also looking out the window. It was snowing lightly and the wind was as harsh as ever. Goosebumps went up Jasmine spine as she thought about how cold it would be outside. "I wonder how cold it will be when we go down the moutains."Jasmine said turning her attention to Mary. She looked really hungry to her and they should head to the entrance where they might have the feast. "Sounds good follow me I think the entrance hall is the way." Jasmine said turning right and walking down the brightly lit hallway.
As they walked down the hallways all Jasmine could hear was the sound of her boots echoing off the walls. This didn’t look right to Jasmine and she started to feel a little uneasy. Maybe they went the wrong way? Jasmine continued to walk down the hallway still not making a sound. She was concentrating on where everything was. As they reached some big wooden oak doors Jasmine opened them lightly and she sighed with relief as they made it to the entrance hall. It was really busy with everyone talking in groups of people. Jasmine smiled and walked over towards a table where some food was. She took some chips and started to munch on them. Jasmine than looked around for some goblets of buterbear. She found them and filled them up with a pitcher that lay right in front of her. She took the two goblets and handed it to Mary with a cheerful smile. "So..... What do you won’t to talk about?" Jasmine said looking a slight confused.

Mary was glad that Jasmine knew where the entrance hall was, with her sense of direction Mary would have been wandering around for hours. Then with her luck she would find it just as the plates finished clearing. "I don't really like cold, so I hope it will be ok. I think I packed enough warm clothes though so I should be fine. I have never been a big winter fan; when I told my mom where we were going she thought I had lost my mind." Mary said with a laugh.
The hallway was extremely quiet and Jasmine looked a little worried so Mary decided not to talk as they made their way through, lest she get them lost. To Mary's relief Jasmine found the feast and they were able to eat.The hall was quite crowded and their was a buzz in the air, everyone was excited to be there. Mary was munching on some snacks when Jasmine handed her a goblet of butterbeer. "So..... What do you won’t to talk about?", Jasmine asked her.
"Well ... I don't really know. Oh, you mentioned to me before that you had horses. What is it like living around so many animals like that? I bet its fun; my mother would only ever allow an owl, and that was only because its practical." Mary said rolling her eyes.

Jasmine smiled at the girl and sat down at a near by table. She than took out her wand and concurred herself a cup of hot chocolate with wiped cream and marshmallows. "Owe I love hot chocolates its good to get warm when it’s so cold out. It’s also great to drink after you ski down the mountains." Jasmine said taking a sip of the steaming hot chocolate.
She than put it back down on the table and wiped her mouth and noticed that Mary had asked her about life on a farm with tons of horses. "Its great you are always busy and it’s just lovely to go riding. Maybe you should come over sometime we have a guest bed room and I am going to be able to do magic outside of school next year and I can make more bed rooms if I wont to invite more friends." Jasmine said taking another sip of her hot chocolate. She didn’t feel like drinking the cold butterbear. Jasmine than noticed that the girl’s mother was very strict and she was lucky to have Lena as an adopted mother. Lena always let Jasmine do what she wonted but Jasmine never took advantage on that.
"Our farm has allot of good trails and we have two out door rings and one hug indoor ring. I mostly event with my horse and I can jump up to 4ft on him but I never wont to go higher because I don’t wont to pressure Midnight. Owe how I miss him dearly I cared for him since he was a foal. His mother abounded him and the owner didn’t know what to do so she abounded the foal also but luckily Lena found him. She tried to feed him through a bottle because he needs the fluids but he wouldn’t take the bottle and it seemed like he wonted to die. I couldn’t stand that he wonted to die so I spent many summer nights in his stall and he finally took the bottle from me." Jasmine said as he eyes lit up as she thought about her horse and how much she missed him.

Jersey stood in her room carefully unpacking and then folding her things. She placed all of her shirts, pants, pajamas, and her under garements nicely in serpate piles. She made sure that they were perfect, and then 1 pile at a time began placing them into her drwars. Once she finished she sighed and closed the open drwar that she had just placed her pajamas in.
Jersey walked back over to her bed and let out her little kitten Moo. Moo went straight to Jersey, rubbing her body agaisnt Jersey's legs. She smiled, picked up the cat and began to stroke her behind her ears. As she did a sudden urge to explore the castle came over her. She gave Moo once last stroke on the back, and then gently placed the cat on the floor.
Jersey opened up the door and walked at a slow pace out of her room. She hoped that she would find someone to talk to, because she was starting to feel quite lonely. Jersey began to tug on her lavender sweater as she continued through the halls. Her shirt had kept rising over her pants line, making her stomach visible. It was not that Jersey didn't like her stomache, in fact she loved it, but Jersey was not that type of girl. She become frusterated with her shirt as she made her last attempt to pull it down before she gave up. She instead walked with her hands hugging her stomach area. Once she had finished worrying about her shirt she began to notice all of the beautiful artwork hanging around the castle. It was absolutely gorgeous. She smiled at everything around her, stopping to pause every once and awhile for a better look.
At Jersey's last pause she noticed she had walked a long way from her room and she didn't exactly know how to get back. Jersey began to worry, but then noticed a younger Slytherian sitting at a table. Jersey had noticed that she was accompanied by another girl. She had reconized the girl as a ravenclaw, but she had never talked to her before. The Ravenclaw girl looked about her age, but maybe a year younger.
Jersey contemplated whether or not she should join the girls, and then her lonliness kicked in. In Jersey's eyes the girls looked like they were having a good time, and she started walking over to the girl with her hands placed in her back pockets of her lightly colored jeans.
She approached the girls with a pleasant smile. "Hey there, mind if I join you?" Jersey pulled up a seat next to the Slytherian girl and gave them both really nice smiles. At this point Jersey didn't exactly care what anyone thought of her hanging out with a Ravenclaw. She was here to have a good time and this is how she wanted it to be.

Jasmine took another sip of her hot chocolate she was enjoying her time with Mary. She never knew when she was so at ease talking to a person she had just met. She than took out her wand and concurred Mary a cup of hot chocolate as well with wiped cream and marshmallows like Jasmines was. "Here you go I am sure you don’t won’t to drink that cold Butterbear either." Jasmine said smiling at the girl and taking out her book she kept in her shoulder bag. The shoulder bag was in Ravenclaw colors and Jasmine just got it this summer. She lived in a not so rich family so she always had to save up her money she got for teaching lessons.
As Jasmine opened up her book and started to read she noticed that another girl also joined their table and sat down next to Mary. Jasmine looked up at the girl and noticed that she was also a Slytherin the impatient one that was talk back to Processor Sport. Jasmine frowned at the girl and wondered if she really was a mean as she was rude. "My names Jasmine Anderson fifth year Ravenclaw how do you do." Jasmine said smiling warmly at the girl. She than soon returned to her book and let the two girls talk.

After introducing herself to the 2 girls she had looked at the Ravenclaw named Jasmine and felt as if Jasmine did not want to be bothered by Jersey. This annoyed quite a bit. She could have been totally misreading the situation but that was the way she felt. Jersey tried to let the anger pass and she tried to be nice, for her mother and father had always said to be nice to everyone. Jersey knew that she had not always been very nice to people, but it was just that when people approached her it would be at a bad time, or when she was in a terrible mood. Now that Jersey had been in a good mood she wanted to talk.
Jersey sat back in her chair and let out a loud belch and laughed, feeling a tad embarassed. "I'm sorry, I was just drinking some butterbeer earlier." She chuckled again as she thought of her burp and how loud it had been. Her and her sister would constantly have burping contests to see who could burp the loudest. Jersey was usually the winner and her sister would consist on calling her half man.
Jersey looked to the Ravenclaw who had been reading. She smiled. "You read a lot? I, myself, love reading. It's something I would do at home a lot when I was upset at my grandmother. The book would automatically take me somewhere else, and I love that feeling!"

Mary listened while Jasmine talked about her horse. It was quite a cute story about how Jasmine got the horse to drink, but it was very sad at the beginning; and even though she knew how happy it ended up the thought of a poor abandoned horse refusing to eat did make her feel a little sad. Jasmine made her a cup of hot chocolate mentioning that Mary may not want to drink the cold butterbeer either. Mary accepted it gratefully as Jasmine took out a book. Mary was about to take out a book of her own when Jersey Scott, a sixth year Mary only knew by seeing her in the common room, sat down beside her. Mary smiled back and replied "Not in the slightest" when Jersey asked if they would mind her joining. As she was saying this though she saw a flicker of a frown cross Jasmine's face and wondered if there was any reason she did not like Jersey, a suspicion only strengthened by the fact that Jasmine then returned to her book immediately after introductions. 'Oh well, I am going to make my own opinions about people, I mean maybe she just doesn't like the fact that she is in Slytherin.'
Jersey then mentioned how much she likes reading, that got Mary out of her own thoughts and blabbing. "I know exactly what you mean, reading is like an escape. Everything that is bothering me just doesn't matter when I have a good book. Funny enough I brought about six books on this trip with me, not that I think I will need an escape; but just in case. What's your favourite kind of book?"

Jersey looked at Mary and began to ramble. "To me, this place is like a dream come true, the exact escape that I have been needing for the past 13 years of my life. I feel like I'm dreaming, with the way everything has been going for the past week or 2. It couldn't get any better." That took a lot out of Jersey. She hoped that she had not made Mary bored with her rambling. "Well to tell you the truth, I am a sucker for the romantic books, I have quite a sensitive side to me." Jersey gave Mary a quick smile. "I also like the really gory books as well. I have such a great imagination and those books do me well." Jersey laughed. "What about you Mary, what kind of books are you interested in?"

Jersey seemed very nice to Mary; she hadn’t the slightest idea what Jasmine could have a problem with, she made a mental note to ask about it later. “This place is gorgeous, I couldn’t have imagined anything nicer really. I didn’t know how to describe it, but your right its like walking through a dream. But is there anything else special you were referring to?” Mary asked Jersey with a hint of teasing, a hint or curiosity, and a hint of playfulness in her voice.
“Personally, I have loved historical fiction novels lately; it’s like a new perspective on time periods and event you already know. As well some have very interesting theories about things that are not properly explained; like King Arthur, when you read a novel about him it gives you that thought that he could be real. You know? But I also love muggle fantasy, its hilarious how wrong some of them get things. Then others I swear live in our world and sell the truth to those who don’t know any better.” Mary replied, she could go on about the books she had read, authors, genres, … forever.

Jersey listened as Mary spoke about her love of books. Jersey was glad to had met another Slytherian who was interested in books that she could talk about. Jersey had many friends in Slytherian, but none that she talked about books with, just mostly friends who she complained about stuff with and talked about people.
"So true," Jersey began. "Historical fiction is rather interesting. I, myself, have never read King Arthur, but I absolutely understand where you are coming from. As for muggle fantasys, ha."Jersey began to chuckle. "Their so crazily written, but don't get me wrong, their incrediblely interesting to read." Jersey's chuckling died down, and she looked at Jasmine. Jersey at that point could care less whether or not Jasmine liked her. Jersey immediately thought that she should not care if a Ravenclaw girl likes her or not. Jersey sighed and began to twirl her already curly hair. Jersey decided to bring up a new conversation with Mary. "So, Mary, tell me a little about yourself?"

“A little about myself…” Mary mused, “Well I really don’t know. It really depends on what part of my life you would like to know about … Childhood … I grew up in Evans Manor with my parents constantly telling me to ‘make the right friends’ ‘always remember your position’ and ‘don’t be the one to disgrace the Evans name’” Mary said with not a little resentment. Then continued, “ Favourites … music would be rock and alternative grunge and things … pastimes would be reading, writing, and chatting I suppose … movies would be war movies I suppose well except of coarse historical fiction” she said with a bit of a laugh. “ I really don’t know what to say. What do you want to know? And what about you?”

Jersey listened as Mary began to her a little about herself, smiling at all the appropriate places in her talk. As she rounded up what she had to say about herself, Jersey began to talk. "Wow, it seems like we have a lot in common. Rock and alternative are my favorite music genres, you will never find me listening to anything else."Jersey smiled. "As for the movies, well I've seen a few war movies, and they were excellent, but their not exactly my favorite type. Mine would be any horror movie or comedy." Jersey's smiled faded as she remembered that the girl had asked her about what her life was like, Jersey had wished she had a wonderful life, but instead she was stuck with an evil good for nothing grandmother.
Jersey began her life story, "Well, my mother and father died when me and my sister were younger. They left us all of thier fortunes, and gave us to our grandmother. Our grandmother is beyond evil. She would make me and my sister constantly wait on her hand and foot, and if we used our magic she would lock us up in our room with no food and drink for a week. As we got older, and she got older, things got worse, me and my sister learned to stick up for ourselves, which got us in deeper than before. Now that I've been going to school, things have been okay. My sister and me and going to be living together now, and life is shaping up. I'm not one to dwell on the past so I'm starting over, and I figured this trip would do me well."
Jersey had trusted the girl that she would not say anything to anyone. She didn't want everyone to know how miserable things were for her, Jersey just wanted to make other people miserable, making up for all horrible years she's had. Jersey looked at the girl and put her head down, embarrassed at what she had told her.

Mary was unsure as to how to respond to Jersey's story. She was touched by not only the story, but also the fact that Jersey had trusted her enough to share it. Mary did not know how many other people knew about what Jersey had just told her, but she knew it was not something she would be sharing with just anyone were it herself. She hadn't the slightest idea what to say that would not sound condescending, but she decided to focus on the bright side and hoped Jersey did not get offended. "Well, although it may have made things worse at the time, its good that you guys learnt to stand up for yourselves. Many people in similar situations never learn how and it makes it worse in the long run because they never leave or escape the cause of their suffering. You are now almost of age to take your inheritance as well arn't you? How old is your sister? I wish I had a sister, I'm an only child. So when you or your sister, who ever is older, comes of age you guys will get the money right? And be able to live as you wish?"
When she had began speaking Mary saw Jersey drop her head looking embarrassed. Mary assumed she had guessed right, not too many people must know Jersey's story. She then gave Jersey a bright smile, hoping to maybe release some of Jersey's anxiety. "I think this trip will do us all a lot of good. Many of the people I have spoken to here came at least partially to make new friends; myself included."
