It was the day after everyone had arrived at Weinig Zug. Elizabeth was in her room writing in her journal as usual when she suddenly realized that she was on the feild trip to have fun, not just sitting around writing. Elizabeth stood up and walked to the door. She made her way through the noisy corridors, where kids were running all over the place. now where can I find a place to talk and maybe run into my friends? Elizabeth wondered as she passed door after door.
She finally came to the lounge and wandered in to the room. It was warm and cozy. There were a few kids from Hogwarts sitting around talking so it wasn't very crowded. Elizabeth spotted a chair in the corner and sat down. Now that she was there she didn't have anything to do. There was no one to talk to. I wish I would have brought a book Elizabeth decided to sit there for a few minutes to see if her friends would perhaps stumble onto this room, but if not she would explore the castle by herself.

Mary woke up that morning to the sun streaming through the window onto her face. She found this extremely odd, as a matter of fact, she had never experienced that before. The Slytherin dungeon did not have windows, and at home her curtains were so thick no light could get through when they were closed. as weird as it was, she found the light morning sun comforting. Knowing she would never get back to sleep with that much light in the room Mary got out of bed. She quietly dressed, so as not to wake her roommate, in a warm green sweater, blue jeans charmed to keep your legs dry & warm regardless of the cold or snow outside, & her signature boots, this pair a rich chocolate brown that matched her purse with thin four inch heels. While pulling a brush through her hair she checked that everything she needed was in her purse, including her jacket and skies shrunk. Picking up her purse she left the room; but as soon as she was out she realised that she did not know where she was going.
As she wandered the halls aimlessly she finally decided to head to the lounge. As she peeked into the room she noticed a few people sitting around, some talking and some reading. She then spotted a girl sitting in the corner by herself looking bored. "Hey" she said, "I'm Mary Evans." She then took a seat next to the girl and offered her hand. "Mind if I join you?"

Elizabeth looked up as a girl introduced herself and sat down. "Hi Mary, I'm Elizabeth. Sure you can join me." Elizabeth smiled at Mary and pulled her hair behind her ears. "So . . . do you like it here?" Elizabeth couldn't really say that she did. She hadn't been skiing yet, not one of her friends had talked to her yet, so all she did the whole time the day before was sitting in her room writing in her journal and reading.
Elizabeth stared into the fire wondering why she ever signed up to go on this field trip. Oh yeah! I remember! it's because Katie and Justin and Brooke were going. But not one of them had even said hi to me!!! And the other reason was because I wanted to meet new people, and that's what I'm doing right now Elizabeth thought that her second reason was worth staying here, but she had no choice either way. And there she was talking to someone that she had never talked to before. Elizabeth smiled again at the thought.

Kat limped into the lounge at Weinig Zug. She had just had a snow-boarding class and she had fallen quite nicely. The trainer had told her that she would be spotting a blue hip and leg for about a week, but nothing too drastic. And the limping would subside soon.
Kat noticed a fellow first year and a girl – probably a third year sitting in the lounge and decided to join them. Kat sat into a huge armchair next to them and winced slightly as her hurt hip came into contact with the armchair.
“Uh, hi,” Kat smiled at the other girls and rubbed her hip gingerly, ”Mind if I join you two? This armchair looked really inviting. And if it’s not too much to ask a little conversation would be great also. I’m Kat.”

The girl said that it would be fine for Mary to join her. “I love it here.” Mary responded “The surroundings are beautiful, everyone’s in a great mood and very nice, and we are free to do whatever we want. I think I am in heaven.” Mary said with a giggle.
Just then Kat entered the room and asked to join them. “Of course you can join us Kat. But you know your worrying me a bit, if my skiing instructor is limping how am I going to be after the lesson?” Mary asked with a laugh. “Are you ok though? Do you need me to get you something?”

Kat laughed at Mary’s comment.
“Nah, I’m fine. I will be more than able to teach you skiing. Just let me give you one piece of advice,” Kat leaned forward with a very serious face and made sure she had Mary’s attention before continuing, “Never do a somersault with a snowboard, if it’s your first time on one. It hurts!”
Kat leaned back and couldn’t contain her laughter anymore: “I accidentally discovered it the hard way. I will be fine though – my hip is just a little sore and I’ll support a bruise for some time, but nothing that will stop me from skiing, as I was told. And I don’t ask for stunts to be pulled off in my lessons.”
“Got it teach, no stunts.” Mary said with a smile giving Kat a mock salute. “Its good to hear you’re ok though. My gosh am I in a good mood.” She then conjured herself an English toffee cappuccino, after going to Tim Horton’s on a trip to Canada Mary had to learn how to make them. “Would anyone like a sip?” she asked. “If you like it then I can make you one.”
“How has your trip gone so far?” she asked the girls.

Mary and Elizabeth had not been talking very long at all when another girl came up to them, introduced herself, and asked if she could join. Mary answered and told Kat that she could. Elizabeth noticed that the girl was holding on to her hip. As Mary and Kat talked, Elizabeth found out that Kat had an accident while snowboarding. "Ouch that sounds like it hurt. By the way I'm Elizabeth, nice to meet you Kat." said Elizabeth as she leaned back in her chair.
"Your giving ski lessons! That sounds like fun." Elizabeth comented. Mary gave her a sip of her cappuccino "I would like the reccipe for this stuff, it tastes really good! Can I have a cup?"
Elizabeth thought about the question. What had she done on her trip so far? "Well, all I did yeterday was sit in my room and read and wright in my journal. I also went outside and built a snowman by myself. I have no idea where my so called friends are. So talking to you guys has been the only fun I've had for the whole trip so far. But I enjoy Talking to you."

Mary was happy when Elizabeth said that she liked the cappuccino. “Well I don’t know the recipe, like in a muggle way, but the charm is to flip your wand like this and say ‘toffee cap’.” Mary showed Elizabeth while conjuring her and Kat each one. “Sounds like the most fun trip in the world” Mary said sarcastically. “I enjoy talking to you too. And hey its only two days into it, not too late to have some fun.”

Kat accepted the cup of cappuccino gratefully and closed her eyes with pleasure after tasting it.
“This is better than great!” Kat commented and frowned slightly as Elizabeth said she had been alone and not having much fun yet. Kat hated it, when your friends didn’t stick around.
“You know Mary is right – it’s still only two days into the trip. Enough time to have fun,” Kat agreed and smiled at Elizabeth, ”Besides you have us to keep you company now! And as for the skiing lessons – I’m not the best on skis, but I can show others a little if they want.”
Kat took another sip of the cappuccino and smiled contently: “I’m really looking forward to the party tomorrow though – I heard there is a skating rank near it – I love skating. Took classes for a couple of years before Hogwarts for a fact. And sleigh-riding – I haven’t seen my horse – Winddancer – in months! Anyway – any plans for the rest of the trip, you guys?”
Mary was glad that both girls liked the cappuccinos, and that Kat agreed with her about Elizabeth having fun. “I say we should go out skiing, the three of us later; Kats right, you have us now.” Mary said grinning at Elizabeth.
“Yes, the party will be a lot of fun I think. I do like skating; I may not be great at it but its fun none the less. We did a little bit of skating at finishing school, my teacher said it was to learn grace, and I think I did pretty well. I mean I could not have sucked to bad because the race for top of the class was really close but I still won.” Mary said, proud remembering the day she had been informed she had beat all the pompous snobs in her class who believed they were the absolute be all to end all.
“I don’t really have any plans though. I have kind of been doing this trip as a one day at a time type thing. This way everything is spur of the moment and exciting. Plus because I have no real preset plans I have time to just go and do things with new people and I don’t have to rearrange my schedule.” Mary said with a smile.

“You were the best of your class? Wow, that’s great!” Kat smiled and let the warmth of the lounge and the drink and the company of friends overtake her body, “I love skating. Standing on two think blades and going as fast as the wind – it’s amazing!”
“And I completely agree with Mary – I don’t plan anything here either. More fun when you can do everything on the spur of the moment,” Kat smiled and stretched, ”So I’m in for anything you two want to do.”
