Cassandra plopped down in one of the overstuffed chairs in front of the fire in her new Quidditch robes.
What made you think you could play Quidditch? One of the roughest sports to ever be conceived in all of mankind? Beside that, a Beater. You can't even beat eggs let alon a Bludger. This is what was going through her head every moment since Harry told her the news.
" Congrat, Cassandra. Your the new Gryffindor Beater."
She went and had the uniform tailored today, and went and bought the necessary padding needed to keep her safe. She even bought her first broom. You couldn't play Quidditch on a school broom after all. The Nimbus 2000 layed still wrapped in its packaging at her feet. It wasn't top of the line, but it would get the job done. The arm guards, knee pads, and everything else laid in a bag at her feet. She even bought a copy of Quidditch through the ages. She still couldn't believe all this.
But, as she turned to look at the mirror to her right, and saw herself in her Quidditch robes, it all came plunging back to her in rapid succession. The months of practicing, sneaking brooms from the shed at night so she could learn to fly better, and of course, having her cousin Jacob send baseballs at her face all summer to see if she could hit them.
She continued to stare at herself, and she finally exclaimed out loud, " Why did I ever think I could do this?"

Kari walked to where Cass was sitting.
"Do what?" she asked. "Play Quidditch? Believe me, there are plenty of people who are absolute rubbish at quidditch. Take me, for example. Put me on a broom and I'm likely to break at least one bone in my body." Kari smiled.
"You're definitely better than me."

Cass laughed and had a smile on her face. " It's not that Karissa. I'm not really the sportsman type. For some reason, I just got possessed to try out for the Quidditch team. The advertisements have been up for weeks. I don't know whether I was good enough, or lucky enough to get the spot."
She pulled up the sleeve on her arm where a deep, dark welt had appeared. " See, my first bruise from the game. I guess I should be happy. Can you believe the fame I'm going to get from this."

"Well, my dad played quidditch when he was in school here at Hogwarts, and he always told me that it was hard. But your the beater, so at least you'll be able to knock the bludgers away." Kari remembered when her dad tried to teach her quidditch.
"When I first learned, I fell face first off my broom in my backyard and broke my arm. What you've got on your arm is nothing compared to how bad I got it. Anyway, you'll be great. I'm sure of it. I kinda have a gut feeling." Kari smiled and sat down.
"Quidditch is hard and brutal, but it used to be a lot worse. They used to bewitch rocks to chase you when the game first started up, and getting whacked in the head with a rock ain't much fun. The bludgers are a lot safer, the worst you can get from a blow to the head with them is a concussion." Kari looked at the bruise.
"Well, that's easy to heal." Kari tapped it and muttered a spell. "Helaus."
"Voila." she said, as the bruise dissapeared. "It's a trick my mom taught me over the holidays."

Bee looked up. She was sitting by the window staring out at the forrest. Just staring. A reckless urge came to her mind but she had better plans. Quietly, she got up and put down her charms book. Charms was her favorite class. Bee took one last glance out the window and then put on her shoes. They were all muddy and nasty looking. Her friends told her constantly to clean them but she never did. She loved her shoes the way they were and plus.....her mother had given them to her. Tears came to Bees' eyes but she wiped them away quickly. Bee got up and and looked around. Two girls were talking on the other side of the room. Bee decided to ask if they would like to come with her. "Hi!" Bridget said. "Would you two like to take a walk with me or is this a bad time?" Bee thought for a second, guessing that the girls would turn down her offer. So she said "Sorry if I interrupted or anything and if you dont want to you dont need to come."
I hope it's ok that I joined!

Cass smiled at the new arrival. " Yeah. Sure. I'm Cassandra. Cass for short, if you like." She stood up and looked around the room. " I can't sit anymore," she muttered.
She arched her back and straightened back up. She pulled the robe of and threw it in the chair. " Sorry, I was getting a bit hot in this. So, your new, aren't you? I haven't seen you around."

Katrina bounced into the gryffindor common room holding a stack of books about quidditch.
it took me ages to find these books. she thought. but it's a relief to have finally found them.
She was about to go up to the girls dorm when something gold and yellow caught her eye. She turned around and saw a fellow Gryffindor holding a quidditch robe. Without thinking, she sprinted up the girls dorm to put down the books. When she went back downstairs, she jumped over to them and introduced herself.
"Hi. Nice to meet you guys. My name's Katrina but you can call me Kat. "
Thinking she had interupted something important, she added, "sorry if i've interupted something important. I can go back upstairs if you want, i still have some books to read."

Bee smiled at Cass. Wow Bee thought. She just said she would. Maybe I could get to know her better though by just sitting here. Bee laughed when she heard Cass ask her if she was new. "I guess you could say that," Bee said in a friendly tone. "Well, to be truthful...I am not the greatest at talking to people I dont know very well. So maybe that's why you havent seen me around much." Bee thought for a second and then added. "Actually, I am usually outside alot and-" Bee never finished her sentence because of a girl that introduced herself to be Kat. When Kat said that she was sorry if she interrupted anything, Bee smiled at her. Kat reminded Bee of herself. "I dont think you interrupted anything," Bee said kindly.

Lavender flaunced blissfully into the gryffindor common-room. She had finished all her homework in the library tonight and all she had left to do was a little study, but that could wait. She felt looser, lighter than usual in her light frame. Her two low blonde pigtails bounced merrily and she found herself a seat in a comfy scarlette winged armchair; placing her shoulder bag down on the floor next to her as she did so. It seemed she ahd com into the middle of a conversation again. Just like she had earlier in Madam Puddifoot's tea shop. She gazed around at the group of younger students a recognised two of them, "Hi there Bee!" Lavender said happily. She had met Bridget in the Leaky cauldron not long ago and she was very friendly.
The other girl Lavender ecognised was the girl from the tea shop. She had on her lap a set of Gryffindor quidditch robes. So this was Cassie the newest gryffindor player, "Hey there! Cass right?" Lavender said holding a hand out and opening a bottle of butterbear she had got from her bag. She was liked to sneak down to the kitchens and visit her house elfe friends and they always insisted she take somthing with she. She was lucky to get away with just one bottle of butterbear instead of a royal banquet. They loved to give away food and did so at any opportunity. They house elves were kind souls and that was why Lavender loved them so much. She had decided to join with hermione in her S.P.E.W. club and remembered she must Catch up with the her clever housemate. Lavender agreed with the principal of hermione's idea, however mundane the gir'l mind was. Lavender took a sip of butterbeer and relaxed more into her chair. Allowing the smooth taste of the butterscotch to consume her she was beginning to weary, but she wanted to remain in the commonroom for a while and she was happy to be sharing the happy company as these girls, age difference aside

Bee looked up at the new arrival when she heard her name. It was Lavender, a girl she had met in the Leaky Couldron.
"Hey Lavender!" She said in a friendly tone. " What have you been doing lately?" She saw Lavender pull a butterbeer out of her bag. Bee guessed she had been in the kitchens or maybe to Hogsmeade. Bee never liked to go to the kitchens. Whenever she went there, she always felt bad for the house elfs. It just made her feel......bad. She knew Dumbledore wasn't really enslaving them; he was treating them better than other owners did.
Bee looked around the room. Now, there was Kari, Cass, Lavender and Kat all together. Bee usually wasn't in a big group of people. She was usually talking to one, two or three people at the most. She enjoyed talking to them all. Quidditch was one of Bee's favorites to watch. She was even thinking about trying out. She looked at Lavender, waiting for a response.

"not a lot actually..." Lavender said quietly, gazing into the large fireplace, "Just doing homeworrk. What about you?" Lavender took another sip of her butterbeer and felt more tired. Studying for exams was exhausting and tireing. Lavender was definitely prapared for her exams the way she had been studying. She had a feeling she would do best in Divination as it was her favourite subject, but she wasn't too bad at charms either. The other subjects were ok too. She just had to work on her care of magical creatures which she found difficult. She loved the animals, but with her small frame and gentle nature she was very intimidated by the monsters Hagrid seemed to present to the class.
Resting her head on the back of her chair Lavender spoke again. This time directed at nobody in particular, "So have you guys been studying for your exams?"

Katrina's brain sprang into action when the girl named Lavender asked no one in particular whether they had been studying for the exams. Really? What HAVE I been studying? All I did was trying to find books about quidditch, quidditch and quidditch. Wait, you did study potions right? "Well, I've only studied Potion. I heard from other girls that Proffesor Snape asks really hard questions, right? I hope their wrong! Potions and studying are my weaknesses! Argh! What shall I do? Anyway, enough about me. What about you guys?"
