"Oo oo oo oo!" Vanessa sang quietly in pain. She was hopping around her dormitory while holding her toe which she had banged against her trunk when she was trying to get some oreos and peanut butter out of it. Although it was a muggle treat Vanessa really did love the taste of it. Biting her tongue so she wouldn't shriek, Vanessa kneeled down next to her trunk and lifted the lid. The smell of home floated to her nostrils and memories flashed before her eyes. Aryeh. Taylor. Matthew. The Sunflowers. She missed them all. As she sifted through the things, pressed fall leaves, balls of seeds, and books. She finally came to her buried peanut butter and oreos. She closed the lid, grabbed her shawl, and made her way down stairs. The fire was dying out and there was a house elf steadily watching it die, "It's alright, I'll be down here. Could you please put on another log?" Vanessa asked with a smile. The House elf nodded and put another log on then left the common room.
She opened the jar of peanut butter and the package of oreos. The smell welcoming to her nose. She untwisted the oreos and dipped them in the peanut butter. Then stuck them in her mouth. Chewing thoughtfully. It was her midnight snack. Her mother would always wake up at 12 and then Vanessa would wak up and go to the kitchen to find her mother with a package of oreos and a jar of peanut butter. She missed those days. It was the nights she mourned her mother most was the nights she ate her peanut butter and oreos, "Oh, Mama. Why'd you have to die?" She whispered into the night after finishing another oreo. Vanessa wasn't aware of someone else in the common room so she continued to talk, "You left me unaware of the world, Mama. Did you not think I would live as well? Oh, Mama. Papa."
