Linda had been sitting on that sofa for what seemed ages, with her head stuck deeply in a book of fairytales rather than one of her texts. She sighed fairly content, there was nothing more that could happen to make this moment it's most perfect. She was almost in disbelief over the amount of occurences that had been going right during the past week.
Her mum had mailed her and told her business was booming with her boutique, her father was well.. her father but he seemed more or less content with things. Even Lainey, her younger sister had been doing awfully well in school.
All of this was going right.. so why did she have a constant nag in the pit of her stomach that for all appearances would indicate something wasn't right? She shook her head, thinking maybe she should begin to speak with others more rather than always being lost in a book or some other activity around Hogwarts... if only to have something to take her mind off the uncomfortable feeling that had settled within her.

Thomas had been having a boring day and with nothing better to do he turned his frog purple. The frog had gotten used to being different colors over the years so really didn't mind. Thomas kept changing the colors over and over again with his wand and his frog must have finally gotten sick of not being green so it ran off. Thomas laughed as he chased his now pink frog from his bed down to the common room. It was usually empty today in the common room for this time of day.
He had no idea were to look for Frogger so he starts looking under chairs. He saw his frog hop onto a girls book. He jumped after him when the frog jumped and he caught it. "You little devil." He said laughing "Ok fine you want green you got green." He mumbled some word and taps his want to his frog and it returned to its normal color. The frog happily hopped back up the stair case.
He looked down to see the girl that was reading the book. "Sorry about that I guess he doesn't like being pink." He said with his big smile. He had seen this girl before but never talked to her. "I’m Thomas by the way."

She had been quietly continuing to read when out of no where a rather cold blob of pink had pounced atop of her book. Another blur of colors came after it and soon what she had come to recognize as a toad was the proper color and the boy had introduced himself.
She laughed. "I'm Linda," she said cheerfully and began to examine the frog from afar. "He's quite the feisty little thing isn't he? Have you tried two colors at once, I'm sure it would be a fascinating expirement." She said breathlessly and attempted to give the little frog a pat on it's head, welcoming the interruption from her reading.
She had seen this Thomas fellow in a few of her classes before, but hadn't yet spoken to him--she had probably been drowning in another book.

He thought about it a little. "I have tried it but I never got it right, I was able to make him change colors at random but I had to stop that when he started to glow in the dark.” He laughed thinking about his glow in the dark frog when people were trying to sleep. "He’s more loyal then a dog sometime." He smiled. "No matter what spells I do to him he always comes back." He stopped for a second think how that may have sounded. "Nothing dangerous just simply fun spells."
He walked over to the other end of the sofa and looked over at Linda. "Mind if I sit down? He said hoping she would say yes, because he needed something better to do the pick on his frog.

"Yeah sure go on ahead, I don't own the couch," she crinkled her nose slightly. "Not that I'd be much interested either, there's something about ghastly gold colored flowers all over it that I find a bit less than pleasing..." she trailed off and settled herself into the couch as she had been before.
"I have two pets myself, cat and an owl. My cat's quite the snob I'm afraid. Mum wouldn't have ever let me get a frog though," she shrugged and laughed, "Already had enough trouble getting used to the owl--I'm a muggle-born."
She began to flip through the pages of her book distractedly, sometimes she only read the thing for the pictures--it really did have some wonderful illustrations. She frowned as she remembered something not so pleasant. "Have you started on your Potions essay yet? I have to say that man really must lighten up..." she gathered herself in preparation of her imitation of Snape, "You're all idiots! Except you, Mr. Slytherin. THERE'S NO HOPE!" she rolled her eyes heavily, "On and on he goes.."
She realized she was probably speaking more than the boy cared for, but as soon as she started to talk she couldn't help but have word after word tumble after it.

He sat down and smiled as she talked, he enjoyed listening to her talk. He was right it was much better then picking on his frog. She was right the sofa was pretty ugly. Then she talked about her pets and being a muggle-born. "I’m also Muggle-born; my family didn't know where to find an owl at first so I got Frogger and if I had a choice now I would pick Frogger anytime." He said with his normal smile on. Then he lost his smile when she talked about snape and his essay. "Well I have the essay all planned out. You see I’m going to wait till the last two days and then write the essay. The only words on it will be."
Then he cleared his throat and talked in a serious voice. "Dear Professor Snape, I was unable to finish your essay because I’m not a slytherin and wouldn't get a good grade on it anyway." He smiled and looked over at Linda. "So how does it sound so far? It's not done yet I’m thinking about adding more." He laughed Thinking about if he really did that.

She giggled. "It sounds like you'd have a good week's detention with that one," she sighed, "I suppose he would deserve it though." Her ears had perked up at the mention that he was a muggle-born as well.
"You too? How'd your parents take the news at first?" she thought back to when her own parents had first discovered that little fact about their dear Linda. "Mine figured it finally explained everything," she crinkled her brow in thought. "Although I'm not quite sure if they meant that in a good or bad way."

"My family well lets see. My dad and mom were fine with it, they were actually really proud. I have two older sisters that were both really jealous of me. One got over it the other...well didn't." He said with a said tone in his voice. He remembers how she hates him now and calls him a freak. "I hope one day she will get over it." He said trying to sound happy. "I'm sure it's a good then when they said that." He said trying to get his mind off his sister.
Then he thought about detention. "I’ll be fine in detention if I have someone to spend it with." He smiled then laughed. "You willing to clean the floors and school medals with me?" He was still laughing meaning it as a joke.

"People just say things to compensate for things they don't have," she said matter of factly, "Maybe she just felt pushed aside." She shrugged, she never did always think about the words coming out of her mouth--but at least she gave the best that she could offer. "In any case, they all come round soon enough."
She wrinkled her nose a bit, amused. "I don't know Tommy--mind if I call you Tommy? Thomas seems so terribly formal. But scrubbing floors and school medals? Sure.. if there was a pile of Honeyduke's finest waiting for me at the end of it all," she ended with a lopsided smile.
Sighing, she pulled at a strand of her hair distractedly, she always had a distracted aura about her--even when she didn't mean to. The surroundings of the room were increasingly becoming more suffocating and she thought she might want to go out for a walk in a bit.

He just smiled and laughed. "Sure I don't mind, my mom always used to call me that anyway.” She only called him Tommy when she didn't want his dad to come because they shared the same name.” I don't think there will be any Honeyduke's finest at the end. You do get to spend a few hours with Filch and me. Also you can't forget the great visits from Peeves." He smiled, and then he thought to himself "Peeves sure was an annoying person I mean ghost."
Thomas looked out the window and it was another fine day and he was going to go outside to the lake till his frog ran away from him. Thomas could also tell she was a little distracted so he thought outside would be a great place to talk. "You want to go outside; I was going to go till Frogger ran off.” He said smiling about his frog

She nodded fervently with a sigh of relief. "Outside sounds wonderful, how about the lake? I've heard tons of stories about that giant squid in the lake.. but I can't say I've ever seen it," she gave a sort of thoughtful look before standing up and leaving her book strewn across the couch.
"Well, let's get to it Tommy!"
[Mwuaha. You get to start thread at the lake. ;D]
