The feast was delighful and sorting went rather well--much to his enjoyment. But now, it was time to go back to the heart of Ravenclaw. He wode his way through the crowd, still trying to watch all the other students. He fount there social behavior so intreging!
Soon, he found himself stepping inside the Raven common room, flowing wiht the crowd he hadn't even needed to say the password.
The room was not to busy yet, many of the students hanging back to chat with friends from other houses. He though, was almost suprised to find himself longing to be back on Ravenclaw grounds.
He paused for a moment, looking around the room, taking in the familiar sight of the couches, desks, and fire place. Even the bulliten board looked the same--and he loved it for that.

Katta slipped through the crowds, seemingly unnoticed. She and Rhys had caught up on the goings on of the summer, and he had given her a hug. The first since last June. Rhys. Oh, how she loved knowing him. He was the only one who listened to silence with her. He was well liked, a joker of a sort. She gave him most of the ideas, the background, and the theory, and he carried it off, being the bold Gryffindor he was.
She smiled to herself and entered the Ravenclaw Common Room, having had enough of silence for three months to last her.... the rest of the year. She saw Kamron as she entered, and approached him in her usual manner. Silently.
"How was your holiday?" she asked after a moments hesitation. She absentmindedly touched her scar, then waited for a reply.

He glanced over at her and gave her a soft smile. She had not managed to get close to hardly anyone while he was at Hogwarts--but Katta he seemed to get along with. He had watched her as a first year--as he always did, trying to understand the sociological behavior of the young students, and then he had helped her around and told her about which teachers to watch out for. Then, their mild friendship had progressed the last year as they had studied together. They seemed to have that in common--both perfectly comfortable to have their noses stuck in a book and never say a word, then, when they did, it alwayts seemed to flow into the sielnce.
"Rather enjoyable" He replied, actually turning to face her. He decided that he had done enough studing the behavior of others for one night, now it was time to give another his attention.
"Father and I traveled to America for a few weeks, and it was the most extrodinary experiance."
With another soft smile he changed the topic to her "How was yours?"

Katta thought for a moment.
"I cant say it wasnt eventful..." she began. "Father... was seldom there so I got loads of work done... Reading on Animagi, amongst other things," she stopped for a beat, and then abruptly changed the subject.
Her thoughts wandered to their sudden friendship. He had shown her around, heped her out of the sinking stair once or twice, and generally been a good friend to her. One out of few of that sort. There was Rhys, and Kamron, and... Hmm...
'What is America like?" she asked, interestedly. "I had a penfriend there once... But he stopped writing." She absently played with a lock of her hair, watching the flames dance in the fireplace. She smiled, happy to be home.

"Yes, I can see an American doing that. They don't always seem the most pleasant of people. Though they are fascinating. Perhaps I will go to a college there and observe their social behavior"
It was nearly common knowledge by now that Kamon was obsessed with psychology and sociology. He spent a great deal of his time just watching the other students and seeing how they behaved. Perhaps that was what first attracted him to Katta--she was different. Of course, she had become more than just a subject....
He watched her for a moment looking at her actions and trying to read her mood before he turned away and looked at the fire as well.
"Feels good to be back doesn't it?"

Katta nodded, smiling for a reason no one but she knew.
"Indeed it does, Kamron. Everything is so... free here. I thought I would fly apart had I been forced to stay at home any longer with..." Thinking she had said too much, she abruptly changed the subject.
"Are there any sociology classed you are taking outside of your normal studies?" she asked. "I mean, honestly, I dont want you to have to go to America and forget about all of us back here. What would we all do without you trying to analyze us all of the time?" She giggled. "Sorry," she said after a moment. "I didnt mean any offense..."

He laughed at her comment. It did seem that life was rather revolved around his intrests in the social behavior of others.
"The world as we know it would not longer exist" He shook his head slightly, still laughing softly at her comment. He wondered how many people really would miss him if he moved to America.
"You woudln't have t worry though. I wouldn't forget you. I would have to send you long letters with my findings."
He grinned at it, knowing that he truthfully would write her letters discussing be strange behavior of his findings.
"Or you could come and visit me and see everything first hand."

Katta nodded, not making eye contact. Her eyes seemed transfixed upon a portrait of rowena Ravenclaw, who was smiling down upon them, seemingly listening to every word they said.
"That would be a nice break," she said. "I mean, with all the terror here, I imagine that sociology and psychology have terribly different topics to think of..."
After a moment, she smiled. "If you werent here, life would be complete and utter chaos. What would happen if I werent here? If I ran away, what would you do?" Katta smiled teasingly, although it was a quite honest question.

He laughed softly, acting as if he was thinking before grinning at her. He took her question as a joke, thought he wondered if there was a truthful suspicion behind it...maybe she wanted to know what he would do if she ran away...what would he do if she was gone?
"I don't think I could go on" he commented, smiling as if the question was still light and joking.
He then stepped closer making his face look more serious
"How about you never leave so I never have to find out"
Hsi second comment was meant to be a bit more serious--thoguth he wondered if she would still take it as a joke. He didn't know what he would do if she left, and he honestly never wanted to find out. Now that the words were said, it seemed strange even to think of going to America and not having her there to study with....to read with...just to pass time with.

Katta smiled, accepting his first reply as a joke. Then, as he moved closer and his face grew stern, her eyes widened.
"Okay," she said feebly. "I... wont..." she said, and turned away, once more studying the portrait of Rowena Ravenclaw.
Of course she hadnt been joking. She had thought of that option, running away into the Forbidden Forest and never coming out, but then again, she wasnt safe there. Then, she wasnt safe a home either, so that cancelled itself. Well, if it came to it she coould goto America, or Austrailia, or even she could go back Scotland where Mum's family lived... As she was contemplating the why and wherefores, she realized once more she had been staring off into space.
"I'm sorry, Kamron," she said, tearing her eyes away from the portrait and looking at him. "I dont know why I said that. Of course I wont do that." A smile crossed her face, masking the still lingering doubts she had about her options.
"What do you have, class-wise, tomorrow?" Katta asked, once more changing the subject. This was becoming rather a habit for her.

He eyed her for a moment, as if he was suspicous, but he smiled at her--more of a gentle, reasuring smile. He knew that life was hard for her, that home made things dificult, that school seemed like home but she was too shy to make a lot of friends. But he was here, and he always would be.
"If things get bad, just tell me. Don't run away" He told her, absolutly serious about the offer. He wasn't going to let one of his only good friends at Hogwwarts leave now. Of course she had attempted to change the subject before he stated it, but he wanted it said.
He then looked away. The students who had been sitting on the couch by the fire had moved.
"Do you want to sit down?"

Katta looked at the fire, the ground, the bulletin board- anywhere but at him. Obviously he was catching on that she didnt talk about home. He couldnt know, could he? That her father was a Death Eater, an alcoholic, and a beater in the other sense. He couldnt know. Not even Rhys knew. No one knew. Maybe Dumbledore knew. Of course, Dumbledore knew everything... Then what he had asked sunk in, and she realized that now would be the time to tell him, tell someone, get it out, free herself... And...
She shook her head, still avoiding any contact with him.
"I think I better... go and see if Frodo is around here... Thanks" she mumbled, and turned away, thinking of her cat, and what she would do tomrrow when she had the coversation to repeat to herself over and over, pointing out her mistakes, her strong points... Katta reached up and ran her fingertip across the scar, where a lone tear had come to rest after it had leaked out of her eye. She brushed it away impatiently, and thought of her next move.

He had caught on thatshe was avoding him, avoiding the topic. That was what lead him to believe that things wer enot right at home. Every time the topic came up all she wanted was to avoid it.
"I'm sure Frodo is fine" he replied, grabbing her hand and heading towards the couch. They didn't ahve to talk about her family, or her father, or about her running away, but he wasn't going to let her get off that easily.
"Now you wanted to know about tomorrow? I have Anchient Runes"
Finally reaching the couch, he sat down on the edge closest tot he fire, which was burning strongly. While the days were still warm, it cooled off a great deal at night.

Katta allowed herself to be led and sat down upon the couch. She stared at the fire, then clsed her eyes, and when she reopened them, he had replied to her question of several minutes earlier.
"Ancient Runes? Do you like that?" she asked, curiously. "Rhys takes it and he hates it more than several things he wouldnt name..." she said, smiling. She liked discussing Hogwarts with anyone really. Her life had been so devoid of conversation these past three months that she was tempted to speak to the Muggles- a stalwart contrast to her shy nature.
Katta looked at him, waiting for a response, wishing this year would go well, and hoping her father would die.

He smiled at the question. He loved the more advanced classes here. His favorite would have beenssometing based around psychology if they had one to offer, but since they did not, he was left with Runes to be among his favorites.
"I find it immensly enjoyable. But then I ahve always found the ancient use of language and symbols extrodinarily fascinating. How they must have thought to develop them, and how they used them to improve their every day social behavior..."
Infatuated with his own intrests, he would have talked about it forever, but he wanted her to talk too. He knew that there were a lot of things that she didn't tell him, and if he got her to talk about anything, herpas some day she would feel more comfortable telling hime everything.
"What class do you have?"

Katta sighed. "Same as last year," she said looking at her hands, which her forming fists and then relaxing, over and over.
"The standards, as you know, and then Care of Magical Creatures, Divination, and History of Magic and Mythology." She looked once more at her watch.
"You know, Kamron, I really better go get to bed," she said, looking around the now deserted Common Room. "I, uh, promised my father I'd... write and tell him I got here alright..." She muttered under her breath 'like he cares' but prayed Kamron hadnt heard it. She smiled, leaned over and hugged him, and then stood up, scooped Frodo into her arms (he had been hiding behind the couch) and darted down the passage to the Girl's Dormitories.

He nodded as she listed off her classes--yes, the usual, but she would enjoy them, and that was good.
He sighed slightly as she said that she should go. He She always did seem to keep their conversations short--he figured that he should be use to it by know, but he always kept thinking that one of these days she would tell him. He did not push the issue though, instead he returned the hug, and smiled at Frodo when she picked him up.
"Why don't we meet for breakfast in the morning" he said, as she neared the door to her girls dormitory.

Katta nodded.
"Sounds lovely," she said, smilignat him and muttering the password into the Girls Dormitories.
Once inside, she sat upon her bed, panting slightly, as if she had just run a marathon. Torn between the truth and the lie she was living, she fell into a fully clothed and fitful sleep, with Frodo curled, purring next to her.

He stayed ont he couthc, thinking for some time. Yes, she was his friend, but that did not stop his brain, which was so devioted to psychology and social behavior from trying to sort things out about her in his mind. Of cousre he drew no real new conclusions. He had pieced together that things were not great with her father, but she seemed to be on the verge of telling him the truth--yet she never got there.
He sighed slightly, finally getting up and walking to the boys dormatories and to his room. It was rather late, and he always got up early go to the library before breakfast, and he could not loose track of time tomorrow like he normally did, if he was to meet Katta.
