Mary laid on her bed with her eyes closed and headphones on. Through them she listened to ‘Du Hast’ from Ramstain, a muggle band, blasting from a WWW radio she had adjusted. Mary felt great as the song ended, she loved that band. Mary did not understand a word of German but she couldnt help but love Ramstain and wonder just what she was saying when she sung along. As another song came on Mary clicked off the radio; she didn’t want to be cooped up in the room anymore.
Mary walked down into the drafty common room and shivered. Many places in her house were of course decorated much like the Slytherin common room so Mary was used to it; but that doesn’t make it comfortable. The only place Mary ever really felt comfortable was in front of the fire. Seeing as the room was near empty there were plenty of seats around. The room was not totally empty though Mary observed. She saw her friend Jersey had taken her favourite seat near the fire.
Mary creept as silently as she could up behind Jersey. When she had reached Jersey Mary began pulling on little strands of Jersey’s hair for a second before jumping up screaming "boo!" Mary laughed as she ploped down into the chair beside her friend. "What cha up to?" Mary asked in the most annoying way she could muster.

Jersey walked through the crowded halls of the castle. She was annoyed at the sight of kids having fun. "Bloody smiles of kids who don't even deserve to be here." Jersey muttered angrily to herself as she made her way down towards the Slytherian common room. Jersey had been having a rather bad day, and when she was havinh a bad day she made sure everyone knew. Going back to classes, wasn't Jersey's idea of a good time. Still grumbling and muttering she walked to the entrance of the common room, grumbled "Salazar" and then walked at a fast pace with her arms swinging angrily at both of her sides.
Jersey looked around the room noticing a quite crowded occupancy surrounding, and then felt a cold draft fly past her. Feeling shivers through out, she made her way to a seat near the fire, the only place where no one else seemed to be. Plunging onto the chair she brushed her strawberry colored hair back from her face and sighed, staring deeply into the blazing fire.
A deep stare came over her, but was interrupted suddenly by the fact that someone had been pulling tiny strands from her hair. She felt a chill rise up her spine as she felt anger arise. 'Who could possibly be bothering me?' she angrily to herself. But before she could turn around, the person screamed "Boo!" and made Jersey's heart practically stop. She jumped sky high and realized who it had been, as the girl ploped into the chair beside her.
Jersey looked at Mary and punched her hard on the arm, "Mary, you scared the bloody hell out of me!" she said sitting back down and then laughing at the situation. "But, I must say, that was definately a job well done." Jersey said, placing her hand on her heart, to make sure it was still beating.
"Eh, not much." Jersey said in response to Mary's question. "Just hanging out, trying to get away from everyone, not that I mind your presence." Jersey said smiling warmly at her friend. "I had kind of a bad day, you know the first day back from a lovely break, isn't exaclty the best." she said as she sat back and brought legs up on the chair. She placed her knees towards her head, and layed her head down on them in the direction of Mary. "And you, you have a good first day back?" she said adjusting her comfortability.

Mary giggled as Jersey jumped ten feet high. “Sorry” she responded when Jersey said she had been scared out of her wits. Mary was disappointed when Jersey said that she wanted to get away from everybody but felt better when told Jersey didn’t mind her. Mary knew if Jersey had a problem with her presence she would know it. Jersey then complained about it being the first day back and asked Mary about her day.
“Well it has not been too eventful. Just slept in and missed breakfast, went to class, came back here and listened to music. My dad got me a wizard radio but had it enchanted behind my mother’s back to play muggle music as well because he knows I like it. Sweetest thing he has ever done for me.” She said with a smile. Mary remembered the mischievous grin on her father’s face when he told her what he had done. Mary did not know of any other case where her father had gone against her mother. That radio had more value to her than she knew it was really worth.
“Got much homework then?” Mary asked; think of the mountain she was ignoring on the chest in front of her bed. “As if the teachers don’t make us think too much in class they force us to focus on their frivolous subjects in our free time as well.” Mary said rolling her eyes.

Jersey listened as Mary talked about her day, and about her wizard radio, that her mom enchated to play muggle music. "Really awesome." Jersey said as Mary finished up her talk on that. "I've always wanted wizard radio." Jersey said with a bit of envy. "But I never thought about getting one for some reason." Jersey shrugged and sat back. "My sister, though, talked about sending me a muggle portable CD player for christmas, but I have yet to hear from her." Jersey said with a sort of sigh.
Looking at the fire now, Mary asked if Jersey has a lot of homework. Jersey laughed at Mary's comment about the teachers, "So true, it's like they think we don't have a life outside of school work, but anyways, I to summarize a section on werewolves or something or another in Defense Agasint the Dark Arts and I think I have more, but I can't remember." Jersey said with a chuckle. "You Mar, you got a lot?" jersey asked in response to her asking Jersey.

Mary grinned as Jersey said her radio was ‘awesome’. “You should come listen sometime. My roommates don’t really appreciate it when I play it without headphones. But with a sixth year in the room they wouldn’t dare complain.” Mary said with a laugh at the thought of bothering her roommates like that and them being powerless to say anything about it. “The only problem with having a muggle CD player here is that you would have to figure out how to get it to run off magic. That may be a bother. Beyond that it would be very neat.” Mary responded when Jersey mentioned that her sister might be sending her one.
Jersey answered that she had a lot of homework but did not know exactly what she had to do. When asked if she had much Mary’s head began to swim with the thought of the mountain she had. “Oh I have a fair bit. I would much rather be here though.” She said smiling at Jersey.
