The wind swirled through Aden’s hair as he soared up in the air. He had just been at the Quidditch pitch doing a bit of training. He had just placed the box of balls back into Madam Hooch’s office. Now he was just doing a few laps around the castle. He looked down at the speck of people moving around underneath of him. He couldn’t help but frown as he knew that more than half of those specks were half-bloods, or worse. He couldn’t help but think back to his first year. When the chamber of secrets had been opened and muggle borns all over the school were being attacked. It seemed like it would work, but unfortunately, the hero Potter arose and managed to stop Slytherin’s heir. Aden had to wonder how he had done it. Potter probably didn’t even do it? Probably stole the story from someone else just like that bumbling fool Lockheart.
Aden found a open window along the top floors of the castle and flew into it. He landed and slung the broom over his shoulder. Looking around he easily recognized where he was. From here he could make it to the Slytherin common room in about 5 minuets. He moved down the corridor and moved up to a painting. With a quick look around he pushed on the painting and it flipped back to reveal a passage. He slipped into it and closed the passage again. Pulling out his wand. “Lumos.” The dark passage filled with light from the tip of his wand. He moved down this passage, having to duck slightly so that his head wouldn’t bump into the ceiling.
He came to a fork in the passage and without a hint of hesitation he moved down the left side of the fork and continued on his way. He came upon many forks and side passages but he knew exactly where he was going. Finally, it looked like he reached a dead end. He moved right up to the wall and slid it slight to the side. He looked through the crack and saw the coast was clear. He opened the slab and stepped out, shutting the passage again. He now stood in the hall leading to the great hall. Any idiot could get to the common room from here. It didn’t take him long to be standing in front of the suit of armor. “Salazar” He said and the suit moved out of his way. He stepped into the common room to find it nearly abandoned
He frowned as he noticed the couch closest to the fireplace was occupied by a pair of first years. He moved over to the couch and eyed them for a moment. They noticed him and looked up at him, curiosity in their eyes. “It would be a very good idea for you to move.” He simply told them in a even tone. One of the first years was about to protest, but with one glance at the look in Aden’s eyes cause all courage to flee the boy. The first years clamored off the couch and ran to get other seats. Aden took his seat on the couch, putting his feet up and his back onto the headrest. He sighed and shut his eyes.

Mary sat in the corner of the common room with a book in front of her face. It seemed like ages she had been working on that one chapter. Regardless Mary flipped the page and her green eyes scanned letter after letter enthralled in the world of fantasy that the author had created. When she finished the chapter Mary placed her book down on a nearby table and looked around the common room. The entrance way opened up and in walked a fifth year Mary knew by site as Aden; Dawn’s brother. That and the fact that most girls, herself included, found him exceedingly cute was all Mary knew of him though and she watched as he approached a couch near the fire. A smirk crept onto her face as he caused two first years to flee giving him the couch to himself.
I had always been an opinion of Mary’s that being shy was overrated and as such she decided to join him; whether he wanted company or not. Replacing her book in her purse Mary walked over to the couch and climbed over the back to sit next to Aden. Only problem was his feet were up and so she was now hovering inches above his legs. “Now that wasn’t very nice; causing the first years to leave like that. What if they were having an important meeting?” She said to him with a smirk and her voice dripping with sarcasm before continuing. “And you had best move your legs or I will not hesitate to sit on them.”
Aden felt the warmth of the fire. Just than he felt the couch shake a little as if someone was climbing on it. He opened his eyes and saw a girl hovering a few inches above his legs. He looked at her, Strawberry blond hair, looked to be a third year. It took him a moment but he recognized her. Mary, he believed was her name. Of the Evans family if he was not mistaken. A well known and respected family in the wizarding world. He had never talked to her himself, but he had seen her hang around Dawn a bit.
She commented on his actions with the first year and he smirked at her. “Now now, why should I be worried whether it was nice or not. I at least gave them the choice to leave of their own free will. And besides, first years having a meeting, now that just isn’t allowed. Everyone knows you cant have meeting until at least your second year” He remarked. He glanced down at his legs and than back at her. “Was that an order?” He asked, amusement in his voice. It was this amusement that actually made him move his legs and allow her a seat on the couch.

“You know that rule had completely slipped my mind… How could I forget what an annoyance it was when I was an ickle firstie…” Mary commented sarcastically as she slipped down the last few inches to move into the seat he had made for her. She was thoroughly amused that he had given in so easily and even more when he asked if it had been an order. Smirking at him she couldn’t help but let the words escape her lips… “I don't need to order; you just did it. Some of us…” she said eying him meaningfully “must order. While others, like me, need merely give suggestions and they are carried out.”
She had to admit, Mary was amused to no end with this boy at the moment. Her sarcastic retorts may have seemed cruel had they belong to any other house but as is… Aden was a big boy, a Slytherin, and older than Mary… if he couldn’t take and return cutting remarks he deserved to bleed. Mary knew he would be able to take them in stride though, by reputation and his behaviour so far. With this in mind Mary kept her gaze on Aden with her eyebrow raised, awaiting some remark meant to kill and humiliate her.

“Yes, many people allow that rule to slip their minds. So it falls upon me to have to make sure the firsties stick to the rules.” This discussion made him think back to his first years at Hogwarts. During his first year, no body had messed with him. Not only did he have a older sister who was very skilled and had a large reputation. He also had one of the most power family names behind him. So even during his first years people had given him a wide berth. Not that he required the protection of his sister or his name. If needed he could handle himself just fine, but the name did come in handy in bringing about swift endings to many difficult conflicts. Being a master of sarcasm himself he could easily detect the tone of her voice. A hint of a smile started to show on his face. “Yes, but giving orders is so much more fun, and you get a greater satisfaction from it.”
Aden studied Mary. It was rare for even 5th years to just randomly approach Aden and start a easy conversation. Now this 3rd year had simply just climbed right next to him and had basically told him to move his legs. Although she had said it in a clearly playful tone, it was still a very brave thing to do. Aden couldn’t help but be amused by this girl. He tapped a finger against his white teeth. “Evans.” He said, pausing for a moment. “That is your family name if I’m not mistaken, correct?”

“That must be dreadfully exhausting; keeping all those first years in line. I wonder… is it possible to have a life outside that then?” she asked with a smirk. She then scoffed as he said that you get a greater satisfaction from giving orders than from having influence; can you imagine? “You apparently have never had anybody listen to one of your “suggestions” then. There is no greater feeling than knowing you can get whatever you want from a person with the mere implication that you may like it. Plus its just so amusing to see people jump around like overly excited dogs simply because you mention that you like something.”
Mary raised an eyebrow at Aden as he inquired about her family name; to look at her was to know she was an Evans. So his implication that he was uncertain she began to wonder what he was playing at. “Yes Mister McGrogan; an Evans born, breed, and raised. Any particular reason for such an inquiry?” she asked him brow still cocked to show her bemusement.

"Oh yes, it's dreadfully hard work, but, someone has to do it. And who better for the job than the best?" He brought his arms back and slouched them over the back of the couch and put his feet up on the table infront of him. "Yes, but with giving suggestions theres always the chance that they refuse, and than it gets ugly because you allowed them to have free will."
He sat quietly as she confirmed that she was a Evans. There wasnt a particular reason for the question. The Evans were a powerfull and well known Family, but they werent the only ones. There was a tone of them out there. Thanks to his fathers connections Aden knew everyone. Although having to memorize the members of each family was a tough chore. So he did require confirmation every now and than.
He gave her a shake of his head. "Nah, nothing to severe. I had thought you were an Evans, just wanted to confirm to myself who I was talking to." He laughed slightly. "Mr. McGrogan, I believe that title goes to my father. Master McGrogan will work, but I'll also accept Aden."

“Refuse… why would they do that? It’s never happened to me at least.” Mary said with a playful smirk. She chuckled as Aden told her to either call him Master or Aden; he so deserved a pet name… but what? There was doll which she used for everyone… honey which was used for many as well… sweet heart, ‘haven’t used that one in awhile’ she thought. “Well Sweet Heart, now you know who it is you are conversing with do you have anything in particular you care to discuss? Or is the topic up to me considering I was the one to approach you?” She asked with the same gleam in her eye; Mary was definitely in the mood to play.

"Well, than you must be gifted, not a single refusal yet? Well, I too share that same record." He said, amuesment glowing in his eyes. He could see she was thinking up something, but what he wondered?
When she spoke again it wasnt hard for Aden to catch the name she called him.Sweet heart? He rolled it around in his head for a moment and smiled inwardly. If we are going to be using pet names. Two can play it that way.
He looked at her and decided to make her think. He would play the role of a responder for now. "Well darling, I do suppose the topic choice is up to you. You did initiate this conversation."

“Gifted doesn’t begin to explain it” Mary said with a smirk and humour in her tone. “I got you to move your legs did I not? And I certainly hope you don't follow every request made of you… I mean doing all that you are asked and making sure no first years congregate… You would have no time to sit down now would you?”
Just as she dreaded Aden put the responsibility of a conversation topic on her. She has been the one to elicit the conversation though so it was only fair… She rolled it over in her mind… what was a safe topic for ‘Sweet Heart’ that would lead to neither a row, being there all night, or a dead conversation. “Read much, Sweetie?” she asked with a smirk. If he said no she could go on about books to bother him, if he said yes she could go on about books period. Whether he dreads allowing her to pick the topic or no Mary would be able to enjoy this topic; and isn’t that all that mattered?
