OOC: I really can't think of two separate things to post about. I hope you two don't mind sharing.
IC: Elle had just gotten home by floo powder, when her sister, Katie, started to talk non-stop.
"Hi Elle!" she squeaked, "I missed you! Where'd you go? Why'd you stay so long? Did you get in trouble? What's your school like? How come you get to go to a special school? Is it for stupid people? I don't think it is, but then why do you get to go there and I don't? How was your school year?"
Elle hugged her sister wearily, and then went upstairs to put her suitcases and her owl up in her room. She hoped this would give her sister a hint to leave her alone for awhile. She had to talk to her parents, who were completely clueless about the devastating attack at Diagon Alley, and thus they allowed her to continue her stay at Hogsmeade.
Even though Elle thought she had made it painstakingly obvious, her eight-year-old sister just didn't seem to get it. She continued her long trail of questions, and followed Elle up to her room.
"Hey um Katie?" Elle asked, "Will you PLEASE leave me alone for a second I need to talk to mom and dad."
"Okay," Katie said, and happily set off.
Elle entered her parents' room, and they all exchanged hugs.
"We're so glad you're home," her mom said.
"Hey um, I hafta talk to you guys about something, and I don't think you know about it yet," Elle said, and then proceeded in telling them about the Diagon Alley attack.
When she finished, her dad simply said, "Okay, well from now on you're not allowed to stay anywhere by yourself after the school year had ended, do you understand? And you should've sent us and owl however that works and told us earlier."
"Yes sir," Elle said, "I'm sorry I didn't tell you before. I just didn't want to worry you guys."
Her mom spoke, "Alright Elle, we'll let you go unpack now. And maybe go call Ashlie or Lauren and go hang out with them for awhile. You haven't seen them for ages, I'm sure they're wondering where you are."
As Elle strode out the door, she noticed that her sister had been waiting outside, and continued on with her relentless questions.
Finally, Elle had gotten fed up, "Katie, I'll answer your questions later. First let me unpack and then go find some of my muggle--I mean, my home friends."
But this didn't seem to stop Katie, who just continued on with, "What's a muggle? Am I a muggle?..."
Giving up on the unpacking, Elle sidestepped to avoid Katie, and walked out of her house, to see if she could find some of her friends. She knew Katie wasn't allowed out of the house by herself, and was glad she was finally rid of her annoying sister.
She went every single one of her friend's houses who lived in her community, but they all seemed to be away. Elle sighed, and chose to walk a mile to a nearby magical community, to see if any of her Hogwarts friends were available.
She walked down the sidewalk. So different from the little dirt roads in Hogsmeade, Elle thought. After walking for quite awhile, she finally arrived at her destination. Noticing that she hadn't gotten much exercise lately, and that she was wearing her sneakers, Elle quickly pulled her hair up into a ponytail with an elastic around her wrist, and decided to jog the neighborhood before finding her friends. Her tank top and shorts were the perfect outfit for exercise, although she did admit that the sweltering sun would soon make her very thirsty. Oh well, she thought, I can just pop in one of my friend's houses and get a glass of water in a sec.
