It was a sunny day, the birds were chirping, children were out playing, and couples were strolling hand in hand along gardens and parks. It disgusted Kori. Made her mouth feel like it was thick and dry, and all she wanted to do was gag. As the limosine rolled lazily by all the happy people, happy muggles, Kori's temptation overwhelmed her and she peered out the window. Her sunglasses strategically covering her eyes so they showed to no one what she was thinking, and her face an emotionless canvas. The limo continued to drive, swerving around corners, and jerking around cars that had stalled out and stopped in the middle of the road. Kori sighed with relunctance and pulled her head back into the limo, rolled up the window, and sank down into her seat. Her father sat across from her, chattering away on the cell phone. For a pureblooded wizard he liked muggle devices. When Kori tried to say something, he simply held up his forefinger telling her one minute, and she sighed again, sinking even lower in her seat. Finally, Arvid clicked off his phone and smiled at his daughter, as if he actually loved her, "Almost there." He told her, in the kindest voice possible, which was no where near kind.
The limo turned a sharp right, and it lurched Kori towards the window, banging her head against the glass. She winced and rubbed her head, already feeling the bump which was starting to form beneath her blonde hair. Arvid chuckled slightly but, from the deadly glare his daughter sent him, the chuckle resided to a small smile on the corner of his lips. Kori was his daughter, and by her attitude he knew it. She had her mother's fiesty side and sharp tongue. Along with those traits, she also recieved her father's urge to rebel against adult figures. Physical looks wise, she recieved her mother's eyes and lips. She recieved her father's hair and nose. She despised how much she looked like her parent's and sometimes imagined she looked different. Even thought about magically altering her appearance from time to time, but never really did it. Afraid it would make her look even more hideous then she already was. There were times she wished she could wear a mask like the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera. Hide herself from the world, become no one in the shadows. She knew how impossible that was though, and she left it at that.
The limo pulled into the driveway of the Manor, the big golden gates swung open to reveal a large driveway. There was a fountain in the middle, which was spurting water from the lips of a naked angel with wings. The water fell into a basin below which was rimmed with little devils, though at first glance one would think they were sheep. A closer look would reveal the truth. There was a semi-circle gravel drive that went around the fountain, and that is where the car drove to now. It stopped infront of the house. The Manor was large, covered about 18 sections (one half a township), it was 6 stories and had a very extravagant garden. The door was a heavy oak with ancient carvings on it, a silver knob and knocker in the shape of a dragon. The windows were full length, and were covered by dark curtains, crimson red ones. The porch which led to the door was held up by corinthian pillars, and on it sat a table and a set of day couches and chairs. The door of the limosine swung open and Kori stepped out, her heels clicking on the gravel and getting stuck in the rocks. She sighed, letting the dust settle around her foot, and then made her way up to the door.
She wore a pink dress suit that was made of some fabric that looked course but, wasn't. It was actually quite soft. White high heels that were only an inch off the ground. On her head was perched a pink sun hat and she had a pearl necklace on. Kori always felt so formal when she returned home. Then again, this time was different, her grandparent's were here. She would need to watch what she said around them, about Slytherin. Needed to hold her tongue about talking outside of her house. Though she could tell them about talking with Dawn McGrogan, they would definitely enjoy that little story. Lost in her thoughts, she wasn't even aware of her father's harsh hand on her shoulder, until he spoke; "Inside, m'dear." Kori rushed off, but his hand never left her shoulder. Her eyes squinted shut and she breathed in deeply, wishing he wouldn't touch her. Kori reached the door, and pushed it open with grace. Then she lifted her right foot, and stepped inside, waiting her hell.
