Maddie walked a long the foreign streets of Rome. Yes, Rome. She had finally convinced her parents to let her travel someplace for the summer. She had a far off grandmother that lived there, and luckily, she spoke some English. Maddie had thought it was a good idea, traveling here, but now she was starting to have seconds thoughts. She had absolutely no idea what these people were saying! She had picked up a little bit of their language from her grandmother, but not enough to actually talk to someone with it. She looked down at her stomach, once she heard it start to grumble. She was obviously starting to get hungry. So, she figured that she should stop at some nearby restaurant. She soon found a small one, that looked rather nice inside. She figured it would do. She walked in, and noticed that mostly everybody else inside was very dressed up, and Maddie was looked rather out of place. She shrugged, and waited to be seated anyway. Luckily, the waiter spoke a bit of English. "Umm... ice water." she said, as clearly as she could. The waiter nodded his head and went off. ((Sorry it's so short! I haven't had very much inspiration lately. ))

((Don't worry about it. I have short-term inspiration most of the time. )) Padme smirked down at her friend from the neighbor-hood, Alex. He was thirteen years old and much taller than Padme, which did make her angry at points, but he was still one of her best-friends around. He didn't go to Hogwarts. Instead, he went to Durmstrang. Padme had wanted to go to that school, but instead she got accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Her mother had been ecstatic but her step-father, Cameron, had blown up. Alex grinned at Padme while draping an arm around her shoulder. "Where to now?" he asked her with a raised eyebrow. Padme huffed out a sigh and snorted. "Do you honestly think I now where I'm going?" she asked slowly, her eyes roving around the courtyard in Rome that they were standing in. Tessa, her mother, had let her come to Rome for only one day, and they had rented a hotel room and everything. The only small problem was that the Romans didn't speak English. Well, okay, it was a big problem. Padme was glad that she had brought Alex along. His black messy hair hung in his eyes which made the appearance that he looked like a slob, but he really wasn't. He let his arm fall to his side as the smell of food wafted toward them. Alex had a keen noise and was a huge eater, so when he smelled food, he was usually there. All in all, he grabbed Padme's arm and towed her over to the restaurant, the foreign food smelling rather tasty. Alex licked his lips as Padme rolled her eyes and wrenched her arm away from his grasp. Once seated, Padme felt a feeling of being watched. She turned to see who it was and saw some older people gazing at them curiously. She glared at them. Padme was known to give glares that could kill, and as proof of this, the two turned away hastily. Turning back to her smirking companion, Padme leaned back in her chair leisurely, letting her feet move through the air. She gave a small smile in Alex's direction. He returned it and leaned back in his chair in imitation of Padme. She gave him a stern look which only made Alex laugh and topple to the ground, his chair thudding away on the floor only to stop near a girl about his age. Alex got up and Padme was happy to see that he looked rather embarrassed. "That's what you get." she hissed at him as she walked over to get his chair. Stooping, she grabbed it and looked at the girl. She seemed to be American.... "English?" Padme asked her eyes narrowed as she stared the girl down.

The waiter soon brought her water, and said something that Maddie figured was something like, "What would you like to order?" or something along the lines. Maddie shrugged and picked up the menu to look at it for a few short minutes. She decided, and looked up at the man, while holding up the menu, and pointing to a picture some kind of chicken salad, that looked rather tasty at the moment. The man nodded, and took the menu, as he joted it down on a small notepad. She normally woudln't be this nice to a muggle like that, but she really had no other way of comunitcating with them, so, she figured this would work just fine.
She took a few sips of her water, and looked up as she heard a loud 'thump' next to her. She looked down, to see a boy that looked somewhere around her age, sitting on the floor, as though he had fallen down. She also noticed a girl that looked much younger than herself, near the boy, so she figured that the two were together. Shortly after the boy had fallen from his chair, the girl asked her, 'English?'. It wasn't a very long question or sentence or really anything, but she still understood it. Well, although Maddie would rather be alone, she still was sort of glad that she had found someone that was English as well. "Yes." she replied casually. "And who might you be?" she drawled yet again.

Padme smirked at the girl, her eyes boring into the other's. "Your worst nightmare." Padme said with only a hint of sarcasm in her voice. "And you are?" She loved doing this, mking herself known among people in her own unique way. Except for most her way was the wrong way. She didn't care, however. It was her thoughts and her's only. She didn't care much for other's opinions. Still smirking, Padme turned and realized the Alex had already grabbed the chair and returned it to the table. He was now hastening over to where Padme and this girl was standing. She gave him the smirk before turning it back to the girl. Alex stopped at Padme's side, turning his attention from the girl to Padme, making Padme's head hurt. She gave him the meanest glare she could muster and sent it at him. He seemed oblivious to it.
"I'm Alex." Alex told the girl. "Who're you?" he tentatively gave her a smile and Padme could tell that he was afraid that the girl would be just as mean as Padme. This brought a genuine smile to Padme's lips as she turned her amused expression in the girl's direction. "You can ignore him if you wish. He is insignificant to what we were talking about." Alex turned crimson at Padme's words but said nothing. Padme waited to see what the girl would say, keen to find out what the girl was like and pin-point her weak spots.

The girl introduced herself as 'Your worse nightmare', and Maddie raised her eyebrows and replied, "Oh really?" Then, the younger girl asked who she was. "Madison Kenacheak." she replied coldly. "Fourth year Slytherin, back at Hogwarts. You go there by any chance?" she asked, with a hint of sarcasm in her voice as well. The boy, that looked a bit older than the girl, introduced himself as Alex, and asked Maddie was. Maddie simply raised her eyebrows, and smirked slightly. She didn't really feel like introducing herself twice, actually I'm pretty sure that nobody would like to, so Maddie simply gave the two, a half smirk, and half glare. The boy, Alex, actually looked rather shaggy, with his hair, and Maddie detested people like that, so she already didn't like that boy much. She also smirked at the boy's attempt to smile at her, probably trying to be friends or stay on her good side, or what not, but Maddie simply did not care. Then the girl told her to ignore the boy, and Maddie replied, "That's fine, I will." The girl was starring her down, and Maddie was not going to take this from a girl that was much younger than her, so she continued her smirk and raised eyebrows expression. ((I'm terribly sorry for the shortness yet again. Lately, when I try to post, I usually draw a blank at what more to write. ))

Padme smirked at the girl openly as she asked if she went to Hogwarts. "Why yes, I do. Or, I'm gong to anyway." Padme glared at the girl to tell her that age mattered not. She was still smirking slightly at Madison, as she called herself, said that she would ignore Alex. Padme let a casual smile flitter around her lips only to have it replaced by the trade-mark smirk. Alex looked rather dumb-founded and Padme was about to mention how she detested his attitude when he regained composure and walked away back to the table with his nose in the air. Padme raised an eyebrow at his back before looking back at Madison.
"So, what brings you here? Family vacation or what not?" Padme asked trying to take the sneer out of her voice. It appeared there however, as it normally did. Padme wondered silently if there was ever a stopping to it. Deciding that she didn't care much about it anyway, Padme turned her face back to Maddie, awaiting her reply.

The girl said that she was going to Hogwarts. 'Oh, I younger one. Well, there's no doubt that I can already see that she would be a great Slytherin...' The girl then asked what brought her here. "Vacation, yes. Family, no." she replied simply. "I came here to get away from my family actually. I'm staying with some grandparent that I've never met beofre, no matter, I spend my days here outside of the houses anyway." she said, looking up to see the waiter come back with her food, and took her empty glass, to go refill it.
Maddie looked down at her salad. She raised her eyebrows, as she took a bit of it. Well, it most certainly wasn't the best, but it was good enough she supposed. The waiter returned with her water, and Maddie's gaze turned back up, to the younger girl. "So, how about you? What brings you here?" she asked, in her normal tone. She figured that the girl and her little friend were on vacation as well, but she still thought it the best thing to say, since she normally didn't converse with younger years so freely.

Padme raised an eyebrow at Madison's words. How would someone go on vacation without family? She pondered but then she said that she was going to a grandparent that she never met before. Padme snorted, blinked a few times before opening her mouth to speak. "You're staying with a grandparent you've never ever met before?" Padme scoffed, clearly surprised. "That's strange, isn't it?" Padme stopped, deciding not to dig any farther. She was going to ask how come she was trying to get away from her family, but she decided that it wasn't any of her business and frankly she didn't care. She watched as Madison took a bite of her salad as though testing what it would take like. Padme slipped into the seat across from Madison for she was getting tired of standing. "Is it any good?" Padme asked without much interest, her question indicating the salad.
"Oh, me? I was just trying to get away from my step-dad. Alex thought of Rome where a few of my older cousins live. So, that's where we're attempting to go anyway. The smell of food lurked that animal over here." Padme gave a small laugh at her own words for they were very true. She scrutinized Madison for a moment. She looked to be about Jack's age... "Do you know my brother, Jack? He's a Slytherin fourth year now."

The girl asked her if Maddie thought it strange to be staying with a granparent that she's never met before. Maddie shrugged and replied, "I suppose so. I actually think that it might be a great grandparent or something. My mother traveled here with me, dropped me off, and simply went back home. Anyway, I suppose I don't find it very strange, actually. I don't know most of my relitives, since they mostly live somewhere else." she finished simply.
The girl took a seat in the booth oppisite Maddie, and asked if the salad was any good. Maddie shrugged and replied, "I suppose." The girl then asked if Maddie knew her brother, Jack. "Yes," replied Maddie. "I know a Jack, Jack Rendel. Oh, so you must be Padme, hmm?" she asked, relizing who the 'Your worst nightmare' girl was.

Padme listened to Maddie while fidgeting around in her seat. It was usually a sign of boredom but this time it was because Madison was talking about something that Padme couldn't relate to. She shrugged off the feeling in an annoyed way, her time too precious to waste. Leaning back, she was delighted to find that the booth was rather cushiony. Ever since she was little, she liked fluffy things and this booth was one of them. Resting her head on it, she looked at Madison with large eyes. "I guess it wouldn't be that bad. I don't know most of my relatives either, but it's not because they live in a different place...." Padme shrugged again, not even caring when Madison said the salad as a 'suppose so.' She sat up straighter when Madison mentioned Jack.
"Oh, he talks about me?" Padme said while looking rather flattered. She liked to pretend. Raising an eyebrow at Madison she nodded curtly. "Yep. I'm Padme Rendel. I only just met Jack like a month ago...I think." she thought back to the first time she had met her brother. He had been with Mack too. Padme felt a smirk coming on as she thought over Mack. She hadn't seen her for over a month and that was far too long. Even Dix she hadn't seen. She wondered what they had been up to lately. Hopefully something better than Padme. She returned her thoughts to Madison quickly. "I suppose you know Mack too, right? I mean, if you know Jack than surely you must know Mackenzie. They're best friends and they always seem to be together." Padme finally let the smirk catch up to her mouth; she had a feeling that Mack and Jack were much more than friends. It was just too bad they wouldn't admit it. She paused, waiting to see if Madison had caught any sense in her words. After waiting for a moment or two, she spoke again. "You are in Slytherin, correct? A fourth year, I presume? Fifth perhaps?"

The girl, that Maddie had just figured out was Padme, seemed a bit flattered when Maddie had relized who she was, and asked if Jack talked about her. "Yeah, a few times." she replied, not really paying much attention to the girl at the moment, as she took a couple more dainty bites from her salad. Maddie turned up to Padme, however, when she heard her mention something about Mack. "Yes, I know her. Another friend of mine." she replied yet again. She actually hadn't seen Mack in a while, and she began wondering what she was up to. Probably doing something much better than Maddie, and hopefully having a better summer than Maddie was having.
When Padme said that Mack and Jack were best friends, and smirked, Maddie raised her eybrows and a playful smirk adorned her face. "Maybe a bit more than friends from what I know, hmm?" she mused casually. Padme then spoke again, asking if Maddie was a Slytherin fourth year, or fifth year. Maddie had already told the girl, and at this, the girl started to get a bit on her nerves. "Yes," she replied, a bit impatienlly. "Slytherin fourth year. So, is that the house that you are hoping to be sorted into? Because, I seriosuly doubt that you would be sorted into any other house." she mused, actually giving the girl some what of a comment.
