“Madam? Madam please wake up. You’re mother… she calls. Get up please madam.” The little houseelf squeaked – petrified. She knew there would be hell to pay for waking Adalia when she felt it was still time to sleep – but it was better than dealing with the Mistress if Adalia failed to show in a timely manner. She once more dared to reach up her small hand to shake Adalia’s little shoulder, as she lay in bed seemingly unaware. Unfortunately that was not the case, she found out as a hand reached up and gripped her wrist twisting painfully. Adalia sat up and glared at the houseelf releasing the poor creature after one more cruel twist. “Madam your mother summons you down the stairs. Big news she says. You will want to be there now. Please Madam go to her. In the small dining hall.” The elf said before bowing so low her nose looked to be crushed against the lush white carpeting of Adalia’s bedroom.
Grumbling the small girl pushed aside the pink silk sheets and made a mental note of which elf would be the next volunteer when she is practicing her spell work. A cruel smirk came to her face as she categorized the spells she would test on the unfortunate creature sent to rouse her so early in the day.
She trudged toward her closet purposely taking as much time as possible – she was at nobody’s beck and call – and that included her mother. Why in blue blazes her mother would dare summon her at such a gods forsaken hour anyways was beyond her. What possible news could not wait a few more hours while Adalia got her beauty rest? Whatever the reason she was hopelessly awake now and might as well go down to appease her mother – though she was in no rush.
She changed out of her pink silk pyjamas that went with her room and into a pair of black jeans and a white spaghetti strap top. After exactly one hundred strokes her hair was brush and she pushed the silky smooth black strands off her shoulders. ‘Thump, thump, thump’ Adalia skipped angrily down the stair making as much noise as possible before making her way to the small family dining room.
Her mother’s face was aglow when Adalia entered the room and she handed her a sealed cream envelope with the Hogwarts seal on the back. Adalia raised her eyebrow at stared at her mother as if she were nutters. “And what is the big news? Surely you did not have me awoken for a silly little letter we have been expecting my entire life? Because we all know this flimsy little thing could have waited until this afternoon right? It is no reason to pull me from my blissful dreams. So what is the big news?” Adalia asked sarcastically – knowing full well this is the whole reason she had been wrenched from sleep so soon.
“I'm sorry Dear I just… I was so happy. I assumed you would want to know right away… You can go back to bed if you like… I really am terribly sorry Princess.” Gabrielle St John was quick to apologize. Adalia felt a smirk of satisfaction tug at the corners of her lips but she decided to keep her face apathetic for now.
“No point – I'm up. Might as well begin my school shopping now. I will be back later in the evening.” She said in a dry tone before walking off toward the hall. “Have a driver waiting out front for me in ten minutes and breakfast waiting in the car.” She called over her shoulder to the houseelves she knew were standing nearby – just out of sight like any good servant.
