Elizabeth woke up in the middle of the night to the sounds of crying, but when she lifted her head and opened her eyes the crying stopped. "Katie!!! Katie!!! I'm coming no one's going to hurt you!!!" Elizabeth got out of bed, ran downstairs, and opened the door. It was dark and raining. She started to run accross her front yard and out onto the street when she heard her mother - Karen calling her. She ignored it. "Katie!!! Katie!!!" she called yet again. She dropped to her knees and began to cry when Karen put her arms around her child and held her close. Elizabeth felt her mother's arms wrapped around her. "mum Where's Katie? Where is she?" Elizabeth demanded to know. "Come inside out of the cold, and you can tell me all about it. Come on" Elizabeth followed her mother back inside and sat down on a stool in the Kitchen.

"Now tell me why you were out there" said Karen when she had given Elizabeth a blanket and some Hot Chocolate. "mum, it was horrible, just horrible! . . . I had a dream about Katie, about her - her. . . she was getting beaten." Elizabeth started to cry as the dream came back to her. "shhh . . . It's okay, your going to be fine. Who was hitting Katie?" Karen asked in a soothing voice. Elizabeth lookd up and looked into her mum's eyes, she took a deep breath and began. "It was a man . . . I think it was her father. . . he had - he had a look of hatred and fire in his eyes, and yet those eyes were icy cold, a dark blackness. . . It was awful, he just kept hitting her and hitting her over and over again." Elizabeth hung her head and looked down at the floor. "Well, at least it wasn't real." Karen said finally. "But it was real!!! How do you think Katie got into a coma!!!!? Her father was abusive!!" Elizabeth looked up angirly at her mother, who seemed to have no idea. "I'm sorry hunney, I didn't know that is what happened. Why don't you go back to bed, we'll discuss this in the morning." Elizabeth went up the stiairs and flopped down onto her bed. She didn't want to go to sleep, but her mind got the best of her and she slept soundly for the rest of the night.

"Time to wake up, your friends will be herein an hour." Elizabeth sat up and stared wide eyed at her mother. "Are you joking!? They can't come here, I was on a no talking basis!!!" Elizabeth yelled. She jumped out of bed and put on jeans and a sweatshirt. "Katie's coming, she woke up right after you left the hospital, I just got a phone call" said Karen with a smile and went out of Elizabeth's room with a twinkle in her eyes. "YAH!!! KATIE'S COMING!! HIP HIP HURRAY!!!" yelled Elizabeth excidely. Elizabeth ran down stairs and started to help her mother get snacks and drinks ready for her friends that would soon be arriving.

Jordan looked in the full length mirror at her reflection. Blue jeans, a care bear t-shirt that said "Love Me Tender" on it, black arm warmers, blue chuck taylors, and a headband in her newly cut short hair. She shook her head and took out the headband before turning off her bedroom light, grabbing her small shoulderbag, and racing downstairs to the kitchen. Chris was sitting behind a newspaper, eating toast, and reading about the stocks, while Rosa cooked behind the stove making delicous waffles. Jordan smiled and dipped her finger in the waffle batter not caring about the scolding she got from Rosa.

"Katie up yet?" She asked as she sat down on the barstool and leaned across the black tile of the island counter that stood in the sea of the white glass floors. Rosa turned around, put her hands on the end of the counter behind her, and smiled warmly at Jordan. Rosa had gone back to living at the Cortes residence after the hospital incident, this made Jordan very happy, but what kept her mood rather sour was that Patricia was still living with them also. Rosa had insisted on staying, Pat insisted on staying, so they both stayed. Leaving Chris in quite a predicament, it was quite amusing at times.

"Not yet, no. Would you like a waffle? You seemed to enjoy the batter." Rosa answered with a sly smile as if she knew Jordan couldn't resist. But, Jordan smiled slyly back and shook her head no, rejecting the offer of lucious warm and fluffy waffles. Rosa's face turned into a frown and she crossed her arms as if she was angry at Jordan for rejecting her waffles.

"And what, may I ask you, is wrong with my waffles?" Rosa raised an eyebrow at her and continued to stir the batter and add blueberries. Jordan shruged and hopped off the bar stool. The truth was, there really wasn't anything wrong with her waffles. They were actually quite delicious. But, Jordan had to be somewhere at the moment, and she would've liked to wait for Katie but, she needed all the sleep she could get at the moment. Jordan was still bewildered that they let her out of the hospital that soon after her waking up from a coma.

"I'm off. Tell Katie I'll see her at Elizabeth's and that I'm sorry I left without her. And don't let her walk there, you drive her, okay Chris?" Jordan asked with a tone that said, screw this up and you're dead. He merely nodded from behind his newspaper and continued to read what now seemed to be the sports page. Jordan angrily, but gently put the page down and looked at her brother.

"Okay! I got it! Tell her you'll see her at Liz's and your sorry. Drive her don't let her walk. Okay, message remembered. Shoo now." Chris exclaimed with a smile as he straightened the paper and went back to reading. Jordan smiled, said goodbye to Rosa and left the glass house. Picking up her pace a bit, Jordan started to run to Elizabeth's house, her feet slapping against the hard cement that was wet from the earlier nights rain. Jordan had some apologizing to do to Elizabeth, this she was strictly aware of, and she was hoping by getting to Elizabeth's early, she could do just that. She reached a house, stepped up to the front porch and knocked, holding her breath in anticipation.

Katie woke up with a groan in her warm covers. Her green eyes lay acorss the full length miroor across her room which she was standing in front of. She pulled on her faded out jean pants with fake diamonds on the side and a long sheleved scarlet shirt with the word "Pride" on it. Her hair was put up into a high pony tail and she looked what you might say pretty. Katie sighed and looked at her bed at the matches that lay under it. Her eyes looked hurt and she looked at her fingers that were burned.

She than turned her head at the sound of her door being knocked on and open up. Chris came into the room and she looked at him with a frighten look on her face. "Jordan just left and are you ready becuase I am driving you to your friends house." Chris said to her in a calm voice. Katie sighed and grabbed her long black Jacket and put it on and walked out of the room and up the sairs and outside to the car.

Katie open the door to the sliver car and sat down and put her seltbealt on and looked out the window. She didnt feel like going to the party and would rather sit in her room and either read or try not to burn herself. Only Jordan knew her "Problem" and Katie couldnt stop now. No got it she saw the horrors of her past that she tired to hard to forget. A tear went down Katie check as the car pulled up into to a drive way. Katie took a deep breathe and walked out of the car and up to the door where she saw Jordan and tired to smile. "Hey" Katie said and went to her sister side and waited for Liz to open the door.

Elizabeth was putting up decorations in the kitchen when the door bell rang. "I'll get it!" called her litrtle sister Michelle. "Oh no you won't! They are my friends so I will answer the door!" Elizabeth dropped the banner she was putting up and let it crumble onto the floor. She ran to the door and pushed her sister out of the way. "MUM!!!" cried Michelle and Micellle ran to the Living room crying for thier mother. "That's what you deserve!" Elizabeth called to her sister. She put her smoothed her hair out with her hand and opened the door.

"Jordan, Katie, please come in." Elizabeth beconed the two girls inside. "I'm so happy you could both come! And I'm very glad that you are okay Katie, I was worried about you." Her dream came back to her from the night before and she shuddered at the thought. "come into the kichen and sit down on the stools over there." Elizabeth pointed to the stools in the middle of the room surrounding a table. "I'll get drinks and snacks. What would you guys like?" asked Elizabeth as she walked over to a small table which contained large varieties of snacks and bevrages. "I hope you guys like all the decorations, I put them all up myself" said Elizabeth looking around at the balloons and banners that she had put up. "I'm sorry that I'm rambling on and on, It's just it seems like I havn't seen you guys in ages." Elizabeth said turning around and smiling at the two girls.

Justin Lionheart woke-up and sort of stumbled out of bed. He tripped and fell flat on his back. He slapped his face and said aloud " Oh yeah tha's a great way to start the day." He heard a knock at his door and Justin said " Who is it?" He did'nt really want this to be who he thought itr wolud be and suddenly the door opened and he was right ,it was his brothers ,girlfriends .sister. What was worse ,he was in his boxers and he jumped up straight back under his covers. He loked t the girls and gave her a look that said 'What in the world are you thinking?'. He then said " Uhh hi I'm Justin and you are?" He had'nt met either of the girls even tough they had been staying with him and his brother for about two weeks now. She told him that his brother had told her to wake him up ,but Justin just said " Is he stupid ,did'nt he think I'd wake up sometime ,I mean I do have a party to go to." The girl siad "Well anyways my name is Eva." Justin"Said nice to meet you Eva ,can I get dressed now?" She said sure and still stood there ,so Justin said " I meant dress in private." She closed the door and Justin said let out an audible sigh and began to get dressed. He then stepped out his room fully dressed and walked over to the fireplace. He grabbed a pinchful of floo powder and said " The Leaky Cauldron." He felt the familiar sensation of traveling by floo powder and stepped out in the Leaky Cauldron. He made sure he still had his wand , then walked out and grabbed a cab.

The cab drove him to Elizabeth's house and he got out. He walked up to the door and rang the doorbell.

Jordan swept her bangs out of her brown eyes and followed Elizabeth into her house. She smiled and looked around curiously and nodded her approval. Not like she was judging Liz's house or anything, she just liked the look of it. With one more look around the house, Jordan smiled and turned to Katie.

"Hey, I have to say something. What you said at the hospital-" Jordan began, she lowered her head and closed her eyes. She hated admitting being wrong. But, she knew it was the right thing to do and Jordan always did what she thought was right.

"You were right. I shouldn't blame this on myself, and I shouldn't have done what I used to do. But, I am better now and I just wanted to say, thanks for yelling at me and letting me see the truth, and that I'm sorry." She finished, as she slightly raised her head up and tried to smile at LIz. But, she just couldn't bring her lips to pull into a natural smile without seeming to be forced. Jordan then looked around the room they had entered, it was a kitchen and was greatly decorated. She then genuinly smiled and looked at Elizabeth.

"They're perfect! You did a great job!" Jordan told her as she continued to look around with awe. Just then the doorbell rang and Jordan looked to see who would get it. Considering it wasn't her house, all Jordan did was slide into a seat and popped a pretzel into her mouth.

Katie skipped into her friends house with a big smile on her face. She had a whole new side since she came out of her comma. "Owe pretty" Katie said looking at the decerations and smiling. Katie than looked at door as the bel rang yet again and she wondered who it was. With a sigh Katie looked at Jordan and smiled warmly at her sister. "I know I couldnt believe that happen... lets dance." Katie said grabbing her sisters arm and tugging her to the dance flour where a song was playing. Katie start to twirl and her brown hair folowing her and she looked graceful. It was always like Katie to be the hyper one at the party and sometimes the life of it.

Still twirling gracfully around with her brown hair following. It was her place on the dance flour and Katie wonted to be a famous singer but she knew that would never happne. Katie than open her eyes and noticed that Justin came into the house as well. She squealed and ran over towards him and Liz and grab both of their arms and pulled them to the dance flour where Jordan stodd stunned at Katie. With a sweet smiled towards the two people who she had tugged she let go, "Come on lets dance, Liz I am happy you invited me." Katie said hugging Liz and walking back to Jordan and started to dance again.

Jordan laughed as Katie began to dance, she then looked at the stereo...they needed different music. She left the dance floor and searched through the tunes, sighed as she found nothing. And went to her shoulderbag. Pulling out her CD case she sifted through it. Tossing CD's over her shoulder as she entered the room once again, she suddenly stopped on Maroon 5.

"GOT IT! HEY KATIE! COME ON! YOU KNOW THIS SONG!" Jordan yelled as she ran and stuck Songs About Jane in. She turned to the correct number and tilted her head, waiting for the music to flow through the speakers and out into the room in which Jordan was waiting anxiously to dance to.

"Beauty Queen of only 18, she had some trouble with herself...." Jordan sang with the voice as she made her way to the dance floor. She flipped her hair over her shoulder and started to move her hips to the beat. Just then Justin entered and she smiled at him. She waved and ran over with Katie.

"Hey!" She said over the loud music. She was then pulled back onto the dance floor, she shrugged and continued to dance.

Justin was greeted by Liz's mom at the door and he said " Hi Ms. Sky ,I'm Justin Lionheart ,a friend of Elizabeth. May I come in?" Ms.Sky let him come in and led him to where Liz and the girls were. Justin did'nt see what happened ,but suddenly he heard squealing and felt someone grab his arm and lead him to the dance floor. He realised that it was Katie and smile. He then saw that Liz was right there with him and Jordan had walked over." He said " Hey guys ,I mean girls ,oh I give up." He then felt that he was expected to dance. He could dance to slow dances so he said " No ,no ,no ,no I cai'nt dance." He headed over to sit down and waited for the song to end.

Jordan shook her head and pulled him back up. She hated when people said they couldn't dance.

"Okay, first, listen to the music. Then move your feet side to side. It's really simple. See?" Jordan said, as she moved her feet side to side and smiled. She thought that this might not be helping much and though of somehting else.

"Okay, just, put one foot here," she said picking up his leg and putting it down,"then the other one here" she picked up his other leg and put that down on the next o the first leg.

"Okay, now you step to your right, feet together, step to your left, feet together. Simple. It's a two beat step." She smiled and stepped back as she did the step.

Jasmine sat on her bed and looked up at Vanessa as she held out a nice jean skirt and a pair of jeans that had strips on them. She also had out a baby blue shirt with a white shirt that said Keeper on it. Jasmine could know what to wear and she decied to head with the jean skirt and baby tee shirt. She looked at herself in the mirror and smiled at her refelction and he looked really pretty. Jasmine sighed and cumbed her hair out and applied lip gloss and some eye shadow and she looked amazing. Jasmine blushed in the mirror and turned towards her best friend who was siting on her bed waiting for Jasmine. "Sorry I am just like a weck when I go to parties." Jasmine said and grabbed her friends arm and they walked down the hallway. Her arm contented to Vanessas as they went up to Lena laughing. Lena looked at them and put her hands on her hips.

"Hmm picture..." Lena was about ot say but she was interuped by Jasmine. "No pictures please!" Jasmine pleaded and giggled. Lena gave up and walked out of the door and open the door to the turck and Jasmine open it up and she sat in the middle and let Vanessa sit on the side by the window. Jasmine knew her proper manners and she felt excited. "Vanessa I think I am forgeting the lyrics already." Jasmine said in a nervous tone and she gulped. She than turned around and picked up the guitar case Katie had asked her to bring. She held it in her arms and looked out the window and her long dark brown hair moving as they rode down the long path to Elizabeths house.

When they apparch the long drive way Jasmine took a deep breathe and the car stopped and she ingored Lena words. As Vanessa opened the door she pilled out and closed it behind her and linked arms with her friend and they bother walked up to the front door and she rang the doorbell waiting for some one to open it.

Justin let Jordan lead him back on the dance floor and try to teach him a two step move. Justin shook his head and said "No ,no ,no I can only dance like a country person and to slow music. That two step move you just did ,I'd end up turning it into the boot scoot boogie." He then started walking back wards slowly and said " Well that was a fun two step." Suddenly the song ended and he said " Yes saved ,hah." He then back to where he was sitting and thought , 'Please no country songs or slow songs ,so I do'nt have to dance.'

Vanessa sighed and looked in the mirror at her casual outfit. Nothing big, just her light blue jeans and her black Ramones t-shirt. She smiled and tied the rubber band around the one hlaf of her hair, then another around the other half. She then pulled the bangs out and looked at Jasmine ready to go. They rushed out of the house, no pictures, or at least Nessa hoped not and into a truck. She got the window seat, yay! They reached a house, and ran up to the front porch. Vanessa bit her lip as someone opened the door. She took it as the person to be Elizabeth's mom. She said hello and entered the area in which everyone was.

Vanessa wasn't one to dance, singing and dancing were different things, and she did not enjoy the latter. Looking around, she spotted Justin sitting down, not dancing either. She turned to Jasmine and smiled. She didn't know if Jasmine was the type of girl who liked to dance, but she fiured she was.

"Hey, the words. You'll do good. We'll do great. BUt, I am NOT dancing." Vanessa said with a smile as she walked backwards toward Justin. She then turned on her heel and nearly ran over there, so Jasmine couldn't grab her. She sat down and watched as Jasmine went off somewhere. Vanessa let out a sigh of relief and hid her face.

"Why did I come? Oh yeah, I was staying with Jasmine. Hey, Justin, why did you come?" She asked as she smiled and turned to face him. Maybe he was friends with Elizabeth, that would explain it. Vanessa surveyed the crowd, and her eyes stopped at Jordan.

"Oh God." She muttered. Why did she have to be here at that exact moment? Why did Jordan have to be in the same room as her? This party was NOT going to end well. This was somethng Vanessa was sure of.

Jasmine walked into the house and looked at the dance flour where everyone seemed to be. Her hazel eyes looked the crowds of people wondering if she knew them but she only knew Katie and Vanesaa. Jasmine sighed and turned the other way of Vanessa as she went over towards Justin. Jasmine looked at her friend as she left her side and she wondered to the other side of the room still holding the guitar case in her hands. She started to hum to herself and walking around dreamy look on her face. She didnt notice that she was walking into the speackers and the sound blasted at her. She than stepped back and covered her ears and ran away towards Vanessa and sat down next to Justin. "Owe that really hurt stupit speackers." Jasmine said still covering her ears and she than was fully woken up. She than put the guitar under the seat and looked up at Katie who seemed more hyper than usual.

Elizabeth had only just served Jordan and katie something to eat when the doorbell rang a third time. "I'll get it Sweetie." Karen called from the hallway. "Muuuum please don't call me sweetie in font of my friends!" Elizabeth complained, she hated it when her mum called her embarrasing names in public. It was Justin who came into the kitchen next. "Hello Justin, so good to see you!" Elizabeth ran over and hugged him like a little girl greeting her older brother. They all sat down together until Katie decided to dance and pulled Jordan, Justin, and herself onto the dance floor in the living room, which had been cleared out with the help of her father who had come over in spite of the fact that her mother had a scowl on her face the whole time her EX - husband was there. Elizabeth loved dancing, it was the one thing that she was really good at.

The song stopped and Elizabeth sat back down. They talked for a little while when the doorbell rang again. This time it was two girls that came in that Elizabeth had never seen before. Elizabeth leande towards Katie "Who are they? I've never seen them before . . ." Elizabeth stared at the two girls wonderingly and shrugged. "Hello i'm Elizabeth, welcome to my home." Elizabeth said to the girls and showed them to the living room.

Justin saw Jasmine Anderson and Vanessa Link enter the room. He sa wthat Jasmine was carrying a guitar case and grinned ,maybe he could do something useful at this party ,other than be the only guy there of course. Just then he noticed that Vanessa was walking backwards torwards him. She sat down beside him and asked why he was here. He replied with " Well one I'm Lizs friend ,two what's a party without me ,oh and third uhh oh yeah I thought it would be cool. Did'nt know I'd be the only guy here though. Oh well ,why are you here ,are you a friend of Lizs?" He suddenly heard the music and said "Dang it." it was a slow song and one of the only type of dances he could do as he had already told Jordan and the others. He then sat waiting for Vanessas answer and hummed the song.

[Ivy Tunstall]

Ivy woke up at about her usual sort of time. Not early, not late. She stretched in bed, and thought about what she was supposed to be doing today. Ah yes. Elizabeth's party. She presumed that she would be able to see Jordan and Katie there, since she hadn't seen them since... whatever it was had happened. All that Ivy knew was that Katie had been left in a coma, and that... something had happened with Jordan too. Still, Ivy wasn't going to probe into that. She doubted that it would be wanted. Apparently Katie had made a miraculous recovery, which was just as well. Ivy knew that Katie's father had not been the nicest of characters, and it was just as well that in the end Katie had been OK. Ivy tried to find the best in people, but from the accounts she had heard of Katie's father, she couldn't find that he really had any good qualities. Except for wealth, which wasn't really a quality.

Ivy had travelled by train to try to be there for Katie as soon as she had heard, but by the time delays had been accounted for it was past the time when the hospital would admit new visitors except in emergencies. They wanted Katie to have rest, so Ivy had gone to find lodgings in a nearby hotel. Earlier that morning she'd been disturbed by an owl, inviting her to come to Elizabeth's party. Elizabeth wouldn't be partying if her best friend was still ill.

Once Ivy had breakfasted, she gathered up the things she thought she would need for the day and packed them into her shoulder bag. She took a taxi to Elizabeth's house, and rang on the doorbell. She didn't know any of Elizabeth's family, although she vaguely thought that Elizabeth might have a younger sister. Anyway, she would just have to wait and see how it went. She had been touched to receive an invitation, and wondered how many people would be there. Probably quite a few, since she didn't know Elizabeth all that well.

Vanessa looked at Justin and couldn't help but, smile as he gave his reasons as to why he was at the party. She lowered her head as he asked her the same question. Then, looking back up she thought of the easiest reply.

"Well, I am a friend of Jasmine's and I was staying at her house, Jasmine is a friend of Katie's who is a friend of Elizabeth's. And if you want to get really complicated, I am the ex-best friend of Jordan who is friends with Elizabeth and Jasmine. So some way, I am connected to Elizabeth, one way or another around here." Vanessa answered with a small smile as she started to confuse even herself. She then brushed the bangs out of her eyes and looked up.

"I'm also part of the entertainment, Jasmine and I are planning to sing. Which, shall be the most humiliating experience of my lifetime." She added with a slight sigh and a nervous shudder. Stage fright always came back and haunted her, and she knew tonight would be no different then all the others. Just then a slow song came over the speakers, and Vanessa groaned as she slid farther down in her seat...

Justin smiled at Vanessas explanation and said " Well I'm the other part of your entertainment ,I'm playing the guitar tonight." Het hen saw that she had slid lower in her seat and said "Hey you have nothing to worry about ,I'm the one that's worried. I'm the only guy here." He then stood up and stretched. He stood behind his chair so noone could drag him onto the dance floor.

Vanessa laughed lightly and nodded her head, it was true. But, that was only half the reason why she slid down in her seat. Lowering her head, Vanessa sighed and closed her eyes to try and forget the thought that was running around in her mind like a time bomb with legs.

"Well, you never know with those two," Vanessa said pointing at Jordan and Katie as she looked back up and smiled,"For all I know they could have invited Kyle or something and not even tell me. I mean, they invited Jasmine and I without telling Elizabeth."

Vanessa then looked to where Jasmine had sat down and smiled as she suddenly thought of something. Her voice was hoarse, but that really didn't bother her at all. With a michevious eyebrow raise, she looked at Jasmine and smiled.

"I have an idea, okay we will sing the duet thing. But, maybe we can each sing a different song. I'm in the mood for Everywhere, but...I need to sing the duet to warm my voice up, what do you say Jasmine?" She asked with a hint of anxiety in her soft voice. Her dark eyes sparkled with delight and she waited patiently for her best-friend's answer.
