let the healing begin (friends)

(This post is for any one that posted with Maria. I made it becuase I am conpletly utterly bored and have no life. ;D)

It was a clear spring day and the winds were blowing lightly. Maria was driving down a dusty road in her blue pick up truck. She was going to see how Heartland was doing since she had been gone. Her hair was up in a messy pony tail and she was wearing a white tank top with a blue and white plaid shirt along with an old pair of jeans. Her jeans were ripped by the knees and were quite dusty and worn out by age. Looking up from her jeans to the read she turned the corner and drove down towards her home. The grass was green and many white fences were all a lined in groups forming many paddocks. All kinds of horses were grazing and swashing their tails to shoe away the flies. Mia smiled and stooped her truck and put it in park and turned off the imagination. The stereo that was on before was turned off and she swung open the car door carrying a large bag of feed and new herbs. A large smile was on her face as she walked down the dusty path to the house that was in between the barns. The door was dark blue and the windows had yellow shutters. This had been her home for a long time and learned to love it.

"Maria!" said a voice openings the sliding door and running outside. A form of an older girl was running towards Mia with her arms out. "Lou!" she called out and dropped the bag of barley and ran towards her sister. The two finally met and gave each other warm hugs. Lou was crying into Mia's shoulder and Mia patted her sisters back. "Whets wrong?" Maria asked in a concern voice and pulled away from her older sister. "Did Scout break up with you? What happen!?" Mia said almost shaking her sister’s shoulders. "Mia you have to listen to this and don't get mad at me..." Lou voice said almost very scared and she was shaking. "Lou you know you can tell me anything what happen". "I am pregnant" Lou finally said after a long silence. Mia looked at her sister wide eyed and shocked. She had gotten pregnant just a month before the wedding. "Lou have you told Scout about this and how long have you known?" Mia said in a concern voice. She was really scared that Scout wouldn’t won’t to Mary her sister now that she is pregnant. "No I just found out today.... But I will tell him soon I promise tonight after dinner." Lou said hugging her sister one more time and taking her bags. "What do you think in the hell are you doing?" Mia said looking at her sister with an angry look. "Taking you bags what’s wrong with that?” "No you are not now that you are pregnant Ty and Grand pa will have to do the lifting for you. I well take my own bags in." Mia said taking out her wand and looking around to make sure no one was looking. "Leguardien Lavosa!" she said and her trunk flew in the air and fat Louie jumped out of the truck to chase a mouse. "Honest to Betsy that cat will eat anything." Lou said walking into the house and sitting down a chair exhausted.

Mia looked at her sister and handed her a glass of water. "I still can’t believe you are pregnant and just a month before your wedding.... Lou how could you let this happen!?" Mia said putting her hands on her hips and looking at her sister with a deadly look. She was not happy with a new baby coming in since she would be leaving the muggle world soon. "I don’t know Mia don’t be mad....." Lou said taking a sip of her water and looked up at her younger sister, "I am going to take a nap been up all night long thinking about this." she told her and walked up the stairs to her room. Maria felt like hitting some thing but controlled her anger. Everything was going wrong at the moment and she couldn’t deal with it. Leaving her trunk in the kitchen flour she walked outside and towards the barns.

Entering the second barn she walked down the isle way and was greeted with the neighs of the horses. Mia finally was home and felt so happy at the moment. Coming towards a stall she picked up a halter and led rope and pushed open the heavy door to reveal a black through breed stallion looking at her wide eyed. Mia could see the whites of his eyes and edged into the stall slowly and talked to the frighten horse. "Shhh now calm down..." She said in a soothing voice and the horse relaxed a little and walked over towards her and nudged her pockets. Mia laughed at West and rubbed his face lightly. "I missed you so much." Mia said kissing him on her noise and pulled the halter over his head and led him out of the stall. West hoofs were clunking on the pavement as she brought him into the outdoor ring. Looking up into the sky she thought she could work on some join up at the moment. A smile came on her face as she led West into the ring and uncliped the lead robe and hit him on the rump lightly to let him take off. West than gallop around the ring kicking out his legs into the air and neighing loudly. Mia walked to the center of the ring and watched as her horse went around the ring faster and faster.

The country rolled by as Elina drove to Heartland. Mia had invited her to come and visit, and Elina had agreed. Elina wasn't a country girl, she was a city girl, so her sleek dark blue convertible sort of stood out as she drove through a small town. The top was down, for it was a spring day, and her brown hair was flying out of its upside down french braid. As she came to a stop sign, Elina took out her wand, and tapped her leg, changing the dark blue mini skirt into a pair of jeans. Her heels stayed the same though, she figured it wouldn't matter. Turning right, Elina put her sunglasses on to shield her eyes from the sun. The blasted red and orange rays that beat down on her. The radio station played a song Elina knew, and she tapped her fingers on the steering wheel as she neared a house that was extravagant. It sat in between two barns, and she knew it was Heartland. Cutting the radio off, Elina drove in and parked next to a blue pick-up truck, thinking it might've been Mia's. Turning the engine off, she opened the door and stepped out onto the dusty path way, dirt getting into her open heels. The dust made her foot itch, and she wriggeld her foot to get the dust out, but it never came, "Bloody hell.." She muttered in annoyance. She shoved her sunglasses on top of her head and made her way to the front door, wondering if Mia was there or if she would have to stand an awkwardness among Mia's family.

As she rang the doorbell, Elina waited in impatience. She was edgy today, she had been studying since she had woken up at 4 in the morning until she had decided to visit Mia at noon. That was nearly 8 hours of studying, no food or drink in between. Just books and books. N.E.W.T.s were the worst thing since, well, since ever. She didn't mind O.W.L.s, those were simple! But, N.E.W.T.s?! Elina often found herself thinking there was no way she could pass them and go into a seventh year. She admired Mia for the capability to pass seventh year and still have time for everything, Elina sacrificed a lot of social things to do well on her N.E.W.T.s and Mia still had time for herself. Elina was certain that even during her visit with Mia, she would be thinking of spells and potions. That ws just the way Elina's mind worked, she couldn't help it. Her mind was always a buzz with school work and things that required reading, never about boys or dates or dances. In fact the dance that the school had for Valentines day, Elina had run out on. She just couldn't handle the socializing. She just, couldn't. She had always been the reliable one. She even dreamt herself in college in a sorority being the 'sober sister.' She would be the one the other sister's called if they had gotten too drunk at the party. She just knew it was destined to happen.

Seeing as no one answered her, Elina rang the doorbell again, hoping that at least someone would answer the door. 10 minutes went by, and no one came. She sighed and turned to face the road, wondering if she should just leave. When she heard the whinny of a horse, Elina knew it was a horse, for a cat doesn't whinny. She put her sunglasses back over her eyes and stepped gingerly back in the dirt, getting some more in her shoes. Making her way to the sound, she smiled as she saw a horse and Mia in a ring. Elina crossed her arms and walked over, carefully stepping so she wouldn't get her heel stuck in the dirt, and smiled at Mia, watching her work. Elina had never liked horses, they were always too big for her, she always was afraid that they would trample her. She was extrememly overwhelmed in she realized Mia lived with horses, she wondered if the girl would make Elina ride. She prayed she wouldn't, "You really need to put a sign on the front door stating 'Out in ring, come on by!' I was ringing that doorbell for 15 minutes." Elina greeted in a warm smile and lucid tone. She leaned on the fence and continued to watch Mia and the horse, wondering why Mia was doing this. Once again, Elina's mind wanted to learn something new.

[Mia]

The wind blew at Mia making some of the dust pick up in the air and throw West mane in the wind. The strong through breed continued down the long stretch with his powerful muscles showing and a smooth canter. It was a site to die for and Mia felt proud of West. The two had been through so much and he was the only thing she had close to her mother. West was the horse that survived the fall that took her mother away. An image of her mother came to mind and Mia felt hot tears form in her eyes but hide them and continued to lead the black stallion around the ring. Her shoulders were in line with his and she went in a circle trying to match his pace. Stepping back he went into a small circle at a trot and picked up the speed as Maria moved her shoulders forward. She had learned join up from her mother a way to connect with your horse and gain their trust.

Maria than noticed some one speak and she looked at west who was looking at the girl. He snorted and pawed the ground and flared his nostrils and swished his tail in the air angrily. "Elina steep back from the railing!" Mia said as West showed his teeth and came after her. She ran over towards him and stroked his arching neck to calm him down. "Shh boy calm down now..... It’s alright." Mia said in a soothing voice. It was a voice on how a mother would calm her child down after a bad dream. Clipping the lead rope back on his halter she touched his chest to wonder if he was hot or not. Taking her hand back she noticed she had to cool him down a little. "Sorry about that. West isn't used to new people and is still traumatized." Maria said with a faint smile and rubbed West behind the ears and sang lightly to him. The horse responded by pricking his ears forward and relaxing his muscles.

As Mia finished she opened the gate and noticed Elina was wearing high heeled shoes. "Girl you are going to have a hard time riding in those." Mia said with a smile and grabbed Elina arm and lead both her and West back to second barn. Handing Elina the lead rope she went up the door and pushed as hard as she could to open it up. "We really need to get new barn doors." Mia said and than Fat Louie came running chasing a mouse under West. The horse that reared and the air and Mia grabbed Elina and pushed her to the ground lightly before she could get hit in the head. Taking the lead rope she pulled on it lightly and went to her knees and kept on pulling. "Shh..... boy..... Calm it..." Mia said in her soothing voice and West calmed down and Mia sighed with relief. Wiping off a band of sweat on her forehead she smiled at Elina and helped her up. "Sorry again. West here had a bad past and I can't really talk about it. Too much pain in my heart to even think about it." Mia said and lead West inside and put him in his stall.

"Good evening girls want me to give West a nice brush down Mia?" Said a slim figure walking over there way. "Hey Ty this is Elina my friend from boarding school." Mia said with a smile and nodding her head over towards Elina. "We are going to use Sugar foot for the next part of the show. West freaked out a little too much and I don't won’t Elina to get hurt." Mia told Elina and walked into a stall carrying a halter over her shoulder. Inside standing was a 14. Hand pony that was chestnut colored. Sugar foot had a long blondish colored man and was quite sweet. He neighed at the girl and pranced over towards Elina and nudged her pockets. "Sugar foot wants some carrots here you can feed it to him." Mia said taking out a carrot and handing it over towards Elina.

Elina jumped quickly away from the railing, her surprise clearly shown on her face. She put her hand to her heart, feeling it flutter inside her chest, and blinked as she watched the horse be calmed down by Mia. Mia explained that the horse, West, was weird around new people, and Elina nodded understandingly; for she was in fact the same way. As she watched Mia lead West out of the ring, she laughed at Mia's remark about her shoes, "I figured that, heels do no good in dusty roads but, they do quite well in cities. I'll just transfigure them into a different form of shoes." She shrugged this off as if it were no big deal and followed Mia into the barn. Watching her struggle with the door, Elina nodded her head in agreement, those doors did look horrible. Eyeing the horse, which was fairly close to her, he seemed to be relaxed but, Elina wasn't. Her muscles were tight, he was so big! Quickly handing the rope bag to Mia, she followed her friend into the barn.

"I-" Elina began, but she was cut off by a male voice. Jumping slightly, Elina turned around to see who had spoken, as Mia introduced Elina to him, she gave a curt nod and a small smile. Knowing that she shouldn't say anything for the risk of mentioning Hogwarts, by the way Mia said 'boarding school' she knew that this, Ty, didn't know about Hogwarts. She grabbed at her long brown hair and pulled it in a pony tail out of her eyes, waiting for Mia to return. And she did, with another horse, Elina tilted her head and sighed. She wasn't going to ride, it was bad enough the horse was tall, it was worse that Elina had just been hated by one automatically. As Mia brought another horse, though this one Elina immediately liked, she froze in her spot as he came towards her. Giggled lightly when he nudged her pockets, he wanted food. All she had in there was money.

Taking the carrot from Mia, Elina pet the horse as she fed the carrot to him, "I like carrots too..." She told him softly, the horse neighed, and Elina laughed as it nudged her cheek. She was liking this horse and figured that this horse liked her as well. She smiled at Mia, but her smile faded when she looked deep into Mia's eyes. Something was bothering the girl, and Elina wanted to know what, "Hey, why don't you teach me how to ride Sugarfoot? I want to learn something new today." Elina told her as she smiled a small smile and looked at where Ty had been before. He wasn't there anymore, and she took out her wand, pointed it at her shoes and muttered a few words. Soon she was in gym shoes. Petting Sugarfoot once more, she made her way towards Mia, her blue eyes telling her best-friend that she knew something was wrong.

Maria smiled as Elina fed Sugar foot the carrots. He licked her hands and neighed happily at her. Mia smiled and walked more into the stall and put him in cross ties. When ever anyone wanted to groom a horse you most use cross ties so it can prevent them for injuring you, epically with these types of horses that have been through a lot. Taking out a two soft brushes she handed one towards her friend and began to work on the other side. The brush went over the pony’s body and he stood there pointing his ears back towards them. Mia could tell that Sugar foot only wanted to know what was happening behind him. Since horses aren’t build like people they depend on their ears and sense of smell to help them get away. Looking up at Elina with a rather curious look on her face. "What’s wrong?" She asked turning her head to the right slightly and looking at her friend with a questioning look. Was there something on her face?

Touching her hair she didn’t notice anything wrong and handed Elina a saddle. "Were going riding so I would change those shoes again to riding shoes. I am giving you a little a mini lesson on how to ride and I need to work out summer." Mia said smiling and tacking up Sugar foot. First she made sure his hoofs were all cleaned out and than put the saddle over his back and tighten the girths. Walking to the front of his head she smiled and took off the halter and slipped on the bridle and fastened all the ends together. Making sure he was fine and dandy she handed the reins towards Elina. "Take him out to the front and towards that mounting block. I have to get Sundance ready." Mia said walking out of the stall and pushing the door open all the way. Ty was outside by the mounting block waiting for Elina to get on.

Walking into the tack room Mia was greeted with the smells of hay and fresh clean tack. Oh how it smelled so good that she could just stay in there all day. But there was work to be done and people to entertain. Picking up a bridle she flooded it over her arm and wondered to ride bare back or not. If she rode bare back than it would seem like she was a know it all. If she rode with a saddle she would still seem like a know it all. What a hard choice. Picking up the saddle she swung the girth over it and walked down the isle further. After upon reaching the right stall she opened it up reveling a tall black stallion looking at her with a happy look and neighed loudly and trotted over towards her. Summer nudged at her side almost sending her to the ground but she stood her ground. Dropping the tack from her arms she flinged herself forward and wrapped her arms around his strong neck. "Are you ready for a ride?" She asked whispering into his ear and stroking his elegant neck. He neighed loudly again and bobbed his head. All Mia did was laugh and started to get him ready.

After getting all tacked up Mia lead Sundance out of his stall and walked down the isle once again. All the horses that were in their stalls peeked their head out the window and watched her leave. Mia smiled and walked over towards the mounting block. Already seeing Elina was all ready she smiled and mounted from the ground. Swinging her leg over the saddle she put her heels towards the ground and made sure the struips were all fine. They were and she was ready to head out on the trails. Gathering the reins in her hands she tisked her tongue and squeezed her legs while moving her body back and forth to get him into a trot. Sundance threw his head up in the air and picked up his legs and trotted gracefully down the long path towards the shed where West was locked up. Mia did not notice at all but concentrated on Elina barking orders at her. "Keep your heels down and hands above the withers. Good now squeeze with your legs and let’s get this going!" Mia said posting up and down and leaning her shoulders forward almost ready to canter or jump one of the jumps.
