Yorkshire for the Holidays. ((Kim and Cassie.))

It was eight thirty in the morning on a Wednesday, and Sethia Wagner was making the final touches to her room. She was cleaning up for her friends were coming to stay with her for a while at her farm in Yorkshire. “You almost done in there Seth?” her aunt Hetty called from down stairs. “Just.” She shouted back, and placed the last pillow on the bed, “Great,” she said to herself and let the room, closing the door behind her. Sethia was fifteen now, and she was ‘growing up’ and ‘maturing’ as he aunt said, because she was filling out into her woman’s curves. A statement she disliked. Sethia walked down the two flights to the kitchen, “I’m ready,” she told her aunt. “Good, I thought you weren’t coming, you were taking so long.” “I just wanted to make sure everything was perfect for my friends,” she said with a timid smile. “I know dear. It’s the first time you have ever had friends over and I know you want it to be perfect.” Hetty gave her an encouraging smile and placed a hand on her face, she was looking so much like her mother, “Come on lets go.”<br>
Sethia and Hetty, climbed into their car and started off for a nearby town where they were to meet Kimberley and Cassie and bring them back to the farm. Since Hetty’s house was not part of the Floo Network they couldn’t use it to get there, but there was a wizard pub in town, on the outskirts, and they were to meet them there. “Nervous Seth?” Hetty asked her niece, “No, not really. Why? Should I be?” Hetty gave her a smile, “No dear. It’s just that you have never had real friends before and now you have them and they are coming to spend time with you on the farm. It’s a big step for you. You are really changing. I’m so proud of you Seth.” Sethia smiled, she was very happy to make her aunt proud. Sethia was now honing her social skills and this was the first she had had the courage to invite her friends to her home. “Over there aunt,” she said pointing to a back street to the left. Hetty made the turn and parked the car, “Wait for me here. I’ll be right back.” Hetty followed Sethia with her eyes, though she still could not see the place she was talking about, till suddenly Sethia had vanished.

The wizard pub had a charm on it and only wizards and witches could see the building and the door. Inside, Sethia looked around to see if the girls were there yet, but they weren’t. She looked at her watch, she had another minute or so till they were due to arrive, so she walked over to the fireplace, took and seat and waited for them. Sethia hadn’t been waiting long before the popping of someone arriving through the Floo Network got her attention. “Hi,” she said cheerfully as she friends appeared.

'Cassie Dear, wake up.' An adult woman's voice rang though Cassie's drowsy head. "But mom.. its early." she growned as she rolled on her side putting her back towards her mother. 'Dear, You are going to your friends house this morning. You are going to be late.' she said in a cool calm and collective tone. Jumping up from her laying down position, her eyes wide she looked at her clock. "7:45! GRRr!" she roared as she threw her blankets off of her and dashed into the bathroom.

Taking a shower, a very quick one at that, she emerged from the bathroom 10 minutes later. Bolting into her bed room she stopped at the door. Her mom had a suitcase already full of clothes set on her bed ready to be taken away. "Thank You So Much mom!" she went to her mom and gave her a hug. "You are a Lifesaver!" she said with a smile as she dashed to her changing closet and closed it behind herself. Nearly 10 minutes after she emerged. She was wearing a neon green short sleeve shirt with a blue thin jacket over top, and lastly light blue jean shorts. Going to her dresser she looked over her options. 'glasses, or no glasses, glasses.. um glasses!" she thought as she grabbed her brown glasses and went down the stairs to her kitchen.

"Glasses? Since when did you not want to wear your contacts?" her father said as he put down the paper to look at her. "Well I decided that if im going to be with my friends i dont need to worry about my contacts and changing them and cleaning them. I will do fine!" she said with her normal smile and kissed her father on the cheek. Sitting down at the table her mom put a plate infront of her full of food. With a hungry smile, she dug in.

Up in her room the time was 8:20. "Mom I need to get going. Im meeting Sethia and Kim around 8:30!" her voice shouted down the stairs. Turning around to her bed room full of flowers and pastell colors, Cassie grabbed her suit case and went down stairs. Reaching the living room she put her bag at the fireplace. Walking into the Kitchen she hugged her mom and Dad goodbye. "If you need me I'll be at Sethia's at her Farm in Yorkshire." she said with a smile as she petted her kitten Shell and walked toward the fireplace. Grabbing a hand full of floo powder she went off with a boom.

With her bag n hand she held herself steady as she reached a fireplace in a wizarding pub, far from home. Rubbing her arm, nerviously she crept out of the fireplace scanning the room. "Sethia!" she said with a smile as she walked up to her and gave her a hug. 'How are you?" she asked as she brought he bag to her and they stood waiting for Kim to arrive.

"No! Hey! Stop him! No!! Get him!!! NOoooooo! Ahhh man!!!!! Stupid Beckham!!" Came the shouts from the den that caused Lisa Sullivan to walk over and peer in. "KIM!" She shouted, "Have you been up all night playing that video game!?" Pausing the game, Kim looked at the doorway, "no mom I just started 30 minutes ago, is breakfast ready?" Walking over to the TV, Lisa turned it off. "Kimberly Jessica Sullivan! It's 8:15 in the morning! Just because you are on vacation doesn't mean you get to sit around in your pajamas all day playing games and watching TV!"

Kim sulked for a bit and turned off her video game while her mom left and returned to the kitchen. "MOM!!!!" Kim yelled from the den, "Is breakfast ready yet!?" Getting up off the couch took a lot of effort but Kim headed into the kitchen and sat at the table only to find one plate of food, not hers. "Mom where's my breakfast?" she asked curiously. Lisa sighed, "Kim you're not eating here remember, you're going to your friend's house, in fact you should get going soon."

Kim's eye immediately went big, "Oh yeah! I forgot about Sethia! She lives on a farm! A Farm! I bet they have lots of ducks! I want to pet a duck! I don't want to pet any pigs though they smell and they live in the dirt and the mud they're smelly too I bet. Not like that pig Babe in the movie, remember that one, that pig could talk but real pigs can't talk and they aren't that nice and clean either. Umm, mom where is my trunk I need to go soon I'm suppose to be there at 8:30." Sitting down at the table, Lisa looked at her daughter as she shook her head. "Kim you packed all your stuff into a suitcase two days ago, remember I told you to so you wouldn't forget and wait till the last minute?" Kim simply shook her head, "Oh... well where is it?" "Kim! Honestly you have got to start paying attention! It's by the couch in the living room right by the fireplace! Now hurry up, you'll be late, and please Kim, try not to ask your friend's parents too many questions"

Getting up from the table Kim ran to the living room and dragged her suitcase over to the fireplace, then stopped and dragged it to the kitchen. "Mom! This is too heavy, can you shrink it so I can carry it in my pocket?" Lisa sighed heavily as she got up from her seat. "Kim, your friend's parents are muggles, how are they supposed to unshrink it then? Or do you plan on wearing that outfit the entire time you're there? Really Kim, pull the handle up! Use the wheels! Why do you think it has wheels and a handle! Roll it! Now hurry up or you won't be going!"

Pulling up on the handle popped two wheels out from the bottom of the suitcase. "ooh!" Kim replied as she wheeled her suitcase around to the fireplace. Wheeling it into the fireplace she took some floo powder, dropped it into the fire and was gone. Soon Kim appeared in a wizarding pub. Rolling out her suitcase she saw Cassie and Sethia were already here. "Hey Sethia do you have any ducks on your farm?" Kim said as she walked over to them. "I want to pet some ducks, I like them! I don't like those big white birds though that make lots of noise and they honk and they sometimes chase you and they try to peck or bite you, I don't know what you call it. One time we went to an arboretum and this big white bird started to chase me. I didn't do anything to it either, I thought it was hungry so I threw some bread at it. So the bird was chasing me and it kept going HONK HONK HONK! That was annoying, it was too loud." Kim stopped for a moment and looked around the pub and several people eating breakfast. "Hey Sethia are we eating here? I'm hungry"

Sethia jumped out of her seat when she saw Cassie appear out of the flames of the fireplace, “Cassie!” the two embraced and Sethia was happy that her friend was there at last, “I’m great Cassie. How are you? Was the trip okay? I know how the Floo Network can be.” Sethia mused. “Have you heard Kim today? I thought…” but Sethia was unable to finish her sentence as another pop from the fireplace announced the arrival of someone else. Sethia stepped back a little from the flames as Kim appeared. Kim didn’t even say hello when she arrived, she immediately started with questions in a typical Kim manner. Sethia smiled and chuckled, “Yes we have ducks and many other animals Kim. You’ll see for yourself in a little while. I was just asking Cassie about her trip. How as yours?” Sethia laughed, “those big white bird that honk are called geese Kim, and we have those too, but you don’t have to go around them if you don’t want to.”

Kim changed the subject so quickly that most people would have gotten lost, but not Sethia, she was used to Kim’s ability to change the subject of any conversation at will and with no link between the two. “Umm,” she said looking around, “I suppose we could eat here if you want. I’d have to let aunt Hetty know. She’s in the car outside, she can’t come in here, she can’t see the door.” She looked at Cassie, “Are you hungry Cassie?” Sethia had grabbed a quick bite at home before she had finished their rooms, so she wasn’t hungry at that moment, but if her friends were, she’d let them eat before the left for her home.

“YAY!” Kim exclaimed when Sethia in fact confirmed the presence of ducks on her farm. “I love duckies! They’re so cute! I like the little baby ones the best you can pick them up and they try to waddle away on your hands!” She then immediately frowned when Sethia then confirmed the presence of geese. “Eeeuck! That’s what they are, geese, yuck I don’t like them! They’re big, they’re mean, and they are always making noise! I don’t like them.”

As Sethia mentioned Hetty Kim looked puzzled. “Who’s Hetty? How come she can’t come in? Is the door broken? How are we supposed to get out if the door is broken! This is a rotten pub, how can you have a pub where people can’t even get in and out?” Looking around the pub Kim tried to find the owner or a worker. “Hey where are all the workers? Someone should tell them to fix the door. Maybe that’s the owner over there?” Kim said while pointing to a large man by the bar. “Hey guys watch my suitcase while I go tell him to fix the door.” Kim then turned towards the large man, then spun around again. “Oh hey I forgot be careful with my bag huh? It’s got wheels!” Kim then pulled the handle of her suitcase out which triggered the wheels to fall out. “See!” She said while rolling her suitcase back and forth. “It’s cool! You don’t have to carry it!” She then stopped and looked at Sethia and Cassie and asked “So, are we going now?” She had by now completely forgotten about the broken door and the large man by the bar.

Smiling broadly Cassie was just starting a conversation with Sethia when Kim showed up. "Hi There Kim!" Cassie sounded as she waved. Kim walked toward her and Sethia as she started to talk about ducks and such. "Umm.. ducks They are So cute!" she added as she knew listening to Kim ramble on. Sethia jumped in and told her about the geese and ducks at her farm. With a smile she listened to Kim go on again. Shaking her head Cassie thought, 'Never a dull moment with kim, eh?'

Soon Kim went on about no door so Sethia's aunt couldnt come in. "No.. Kim... No.. Wizarding pub.. No.." Cassie tryed to stop Kim as she turned around and begain to walk towards a guy, But she suddenly turned back around and warned her and Sethia about the wheels and soon Kim totally forgot about the door. Shaking her head again Cassie crossed her arms and turned to Sethia as she asked her a question. "I ate breakfast before I came here. Im actually quite dandy." she said with a smile. "What types of fun things do you do at a farm? I never went to one before, you know. I lived in the United states when I was younger but there wasnt any farms around. Very busy area. Thats all I remember." Cassie said with a shrugg and Grabbed the hinge on her suitcase. "Are we going to eat here or what, my legs hurt." Cassie said as she just didnt want to stand infront of all these people staring at them. She wanted to do something instead of dragg attention to themselves.

Sethia smiled at Kim, her excitement at the fact that they had ducks on her farm was so exuberant. “Yeah, they are cute, and we do have a few ducklings around right now. You’ll have them to take care of and play with. Don’t worry about the geese my aunt will take care of them, though the pretty much take care of themselves most of the time. Very true Cassie,” Sethia said when she told her there was never a dull moment with Kim. Sethia put a hand on Kim’s shoulder, “Kim, Hetty is my aunt, she’s a muggle that is why she can’t come in. she can’t see the door. Don’t worry about it, there is nothing wrong with the door, we can get out when we want to.” Sethia looked around, Kim’s talking had gotten a few people’s attention and they were staring at them now, but a few were busy with other things. Kim’s mind soon changed from her task at hand and she was once again on a new topic…leaving. “Your bag is really nice Kim. Maybe I should get one like it. It is convenient.”

Sethia looked at Cassie, “Well since you and I have both eaten, Cassie. Then we can take something with us for Kim and head back home.” Sethia called over a waiter so Kim could make her order while she told Cassie about the things on the farm. “Well, there are the ducks, but there are also, lambs, some cows and there are one or two calves. We have chickens, and doves, but if you aren’t about animals, there is the lake. It’s great really. We go fishing, and rowing and you can swim in it if you like.” Sethia smiled, “I don’t really remember the United States, I left there when I was four. Did you know I was born there? In Minnesota.”

After Kim made her order, Sethia took a seat, “We can sit here and wait a few minutes for them to bring it out. The food is good here, but it can take a bit if there are a few orders ahead of us.” Sethia waited for the others to sit.

Cassie and Sethia kept talking but Kim only heard the phrase yes she could get breakfast. Grabbing a menu she scanned it looking for something that could be eating quickly in a car. "Yea! Here!" Kim said as she pointed to something on the menu and found a waitress. "I want pigs in blankets to go" she said as she dug through her pocket and pulled out some coins to pay.

Returning to where Cassie and Sethia were sitting Kim heard Sethia mention ducks, chickens, lambs and cows. For once Kim didn't have anything to say, she instead sat down at the table and listened to Sethia. When the waitress brought her box, Kim opened it up. Inside were 5 sausages wrapped in pancakes! "Yea! OK I'm ready!" She said triumphantly and she grabbed her suitcase, pulled the handle and waited for Sethia to lead the way to the car.
