Grocery shopping. Again. There was nothing more boring...more muggle, that grocery shopping. Her mom had gone to get milk, leaving Nokomis to stare longingly at the candy aisle.
'I want a chocolate frog' she thought as she looked at the bags of miniture chocolate bars. 'at least then I can collect the cards.'
She sighed slightly. She found that she was missing Hogwarts more and more these days. She always felt like she was amisfit in the muggle world, and ever since she started Hogwarts, she felt like that was there she belonged. She looked down the aisle--there were a few other kids, staring at chocolate and sweets like she was--if only they knew what else the world had to offer.
She turned and started back--heading towards the dairy section so she could meet her mom. It was then that she saw another girl, not far from her own age walk by. She galnced over half heartedly, then stopped compleatly and spun around to get a better look. There was a wooden handle sticking out of the girls pocket. It had to be a wand.
Desprate for contact with another witch, she reached forward and tapped the girls shoulder, before reaching down and moving her shirt so that the handle of her own wand was exposed. She decided that was a much safer way to see if this girl was magical than just asking her out right.

Raven was wandering through the grocery store with her uncle Frank. Could this be any more boring? She wondered to herself. This seemed so mandane compared to Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. In the magical kingdom there were a sorts of exciting new things for her to do and see. Here there was, well, nothing. Of coarse she hadn't always thought this, but after seeing everything else, well.
She decided on getting some candy. Even with her grandmother lurking around to pounce on her if she dared take too many chocolate chip cookies, she still had a sweet tooth. She walked by a few other kids her age and sought a Herseys with white chocolate- her favorite.
On her way, though, she felt a gentle touch on her shoulder. She turned around to see if she recognized this person. It's probably another lost old woman trying to find the bread aisle like the one in row six, she thought. But when she turned around it was another young girl her age. The girl didn't say anything she simply moved her jacket back revealing the inside pocket. Raven didn't pay much attention till she saw a wand. She couldn't believe her eyes.
"Oh, is that a--," she noticed all the muggles standing around, "ya know?"

So her suspicions were right. It had been a wand that she saw. She was thrilled with the girls reaction too. It was as if the new girl was thinking the same thing she was. She grinned at the girls question and nodded in response.
"Second Year" she started, letting her jacket cover up her wand again as she leaned in so she could whisper the last part a little softer "Hufflepuff."
Once the more magical part of her answer was spoken she straightened again, still smiling at the fact taht she wasn't the only one having to suffer through muggle things, and that this girl looked happy to have spotted a witch as she was.
"I'm Nokomis by the way"

Raven was thrilled! So she wasn't the only witch in this miserable muggle world. She wouldn't have to bare it alone afterall. She was glad this girl had such good eyes. She wouldn't have noticed. She looked at the girl who looked about her age. Perhaps, she thought, e can be friends. It was too bad she was in Hufflepuff though. But it didn't matter.
"Raven Sheerwood, first year Ravenclaw," she smiled brilliantly. She grapsed the girl's hand and shook it firmly.
"So, you like shopping?"

"Nice to meet you Raven" she replied, remember her manners as she smiled brightly shook the girls hand. Raven seemed very nice...maybe she could have a friend to come to Hogwarts with...That thought made her smile widen.
She wrinkled her nose slightly at the question concerning shopping. With her mom, no....but if she could fet her hands on some floo powder and take off to Diagon Alley--that was a whole different story.
She shrugged slightly "Its okay...thought I prefer a less..." she glanced around the stoor at all the muggles, hoping that Raven would get the idea "approch. Once you have been to the Alley, there is no going back"
After a brief pause, she smiled again "So are you excited to start school again?" She assumed that was an honest enough question, even a muggle would find it harmless--even if they were suprised if the reply was yes.
