The scene was dark. Beneath them, a city webbed in lights of all sizes and colors sparkled in an almost picturesque fashion. One man stood, surrounded by three others. He was cloaked in black, melting so easily into the shadows to which he was accustomed. His eyes, like sockets of burning flame, gleamed beneath a mask of black as he surveyed the sleeping city. No one had any suspicion whatsoever of them at all, and here they were.
People, sleeping in their beds had no suspicion that they were about to be in for a very rude awakening. Avery, the man surveying the city, turned to his fellows. "This is it. Let's go, and don't forget where your loyalties lie," he muttered to the others, who nodded in agreement. There was a feeling of tension, waiting to be released.
And release it they would.

'I know where my loyalties are,' Jugson thought bitterly to himself. Nevertheless, he followed Avery and the others wordlessly, his eyes constantly sweeping the sleeping city. He noted, vaguely because his mind was occupied with thoughts of what would happen to him if he did not follow through, that the houses were all silent. The occupants of the neatly trimmed suburbs were probably well on their way to peaceful dreams. Occasionally, he caught the glimmer of a television screen from the homes of late night wanderers. Muggles and their inventions.
When they reached the end of the street, Avery did an about face. "On the count of three, do you understand?" he hissed, as if daring the others to object. They all nodded. "One ..." they lowered their wands to the ground. "Two ..." Jugson could feel the warmth of magic coursing beneath his fingertips as he gripped his wand, preparing himself for the power that would unleash at Avery's command of "Three."
A burst of blue light erupted from the wand tips of four Death Eaters at the same moment. At first, the spell branched out over the street, but it soon covered the houses as well. In a deafening roar, the entire street was reduced to ashes.

Macnair felt the power erupting from his wand. A feeling of satisfaction washed over him as he witnessed an entire street of Muggles reduced to ashes, the road looking as if an earthquake with a reading of 5 or 6 on the richter scale had hit it. Macnair laughed, the terrible sound ringing through the night. "Yes, let's see them deny our Lord now," he drawled.
"I'm going to have a bit of fun in all of this. Any with me may join in," Avery informed his companions. Macnair's stomach did a sort of somersault, as Avery summoned a few Muggles from their beds. He began to twirl them about like puppets, waking them to see their anguished looks before he used the Killing Curse on them. Macnair pointed his wand at a house.
"Maximus Inflamare!" he bellowed, as an orange blast of light caught several houses at once on fire. Five minutes, and chaos would run rampant. They would have every Auror in the Ministry on them.

Troy Barrington sat in the large room surrounded by desks. Each desk was occupied by a person and each person had in front of them a sizeable stack of files to be read, analyzed and dealt with. With a sudden fluttering of wings the silence that once filled the room was shattered. Untying the roll of parchment from the owl's leg, Troy read the note.
-----------------------
Cornwall has been attacked. Quick Response Team 2nd squad is to proceed to Cornwall immediately. The rest of the team will follow when assembled.
Cornelius Fudge Minister of Magic
-----------------------
Troy quickly got to his feet, grabbed his wand and then with the rest of the Aurors in the room, they all one by one apparated out of the office and re-apparated in a small wizarding pub in Cornwall England. "Over there! You see the fire! They're over there!" Cried the pub keeper as he frantically pointed out the window while patrons ran to and fro seeking cover.
Out the window a small inferno could be seen as nearly an entire city block. "Daniels, Peterson, go back to the ministry, tell them we'll need everyone they can send. We're going to have to deal with a lot of muggles tonight, we need every memory charm we can get!" Two aurors then apparated away leaving the others in the pub.
The rest of the aurors then proceeded outside into the dark street heading towards the fiery glow. Once they reached the corner of the block they stopped. "Wilson, Bennington, Olimareis, Kjelbery, Saltene, you go up the left side of the street. Hinely, Emmerson, Braton, and Livingstone you come with me up the right side." Then slowly they walked up the street, wands at the ready towards what appeared to be several individuals dressed in black robes.

Cornwall, the city that had been chosen for their attack, an attack that Peter Pettigrew, or Wormtail as he was also known as, was not to keen about being sent on. Peter Pettigrew would have been much happier to be seated by his master’s side like he had been for the past two, almost three years since he was discovered posing as a rat by Sirius Black. He crept out of the shadows, he kept adjusting the mask on his face for it did not fit him well, “Silly thing won’t stay,” she said to himself. He snuck up to the others, if you could call his clumsy gait capable of sneaking, “So what’s first?” he asked as quietly as he could, but before he could get a response, or someone to notice him for that matter there was a sudden flash and several houses were in flames. “Ohh..” he cried unintentionally, “very well done there Macnair.”<br>

Kingsley Shacklebolt raced down the Ministry of Magic's halls, clutched in his hand was a roll of parchment. Entering his office he found it packed with people, some of whom appeared to have just apparated as they were in their nightgowns. The noise in the office was incredible, such that it took him a while to finally get everyone calmed down enough to listen. "OK We don't have much time, one QRT team is already on scene, we need to get there fast! Towler! Take your squad now!" Kenneth Towler, a young auror quickly turned and motioned for his team to follow. Quickly a dozen aurors left the room and several loud popping noises were heard as they apparated away. "OK OK, listen up, we're going to need a LOT of muggle memories to be altered, all of you I know you aren't field workers, but you will have to be tonight. Use basic memory charms for now, keep the muggles together and hold them until the memory teams get there.
Soon several dozen more loud BANGS filled the halls of the Ministry and dozens more workers apparated away to Cornwall. That left a handful of aurors from the 1st and 4th squads left. "Dawlish, I want you to wait here for 5 more minutes, inform the Ministry workers to use basic memory charms, then you take any aurors taht come in to Cornwall." Kingsley then turned to the half dozen aurors that were left, "You all , come with me! Lets go!" With several more loud BANGS they apparated away.
----------------
Kenneth Towler and the rest of his team apparated into the small wizarding pub which was now buzzing with excitement as patrons were scrambling out of the way of the ever increasing number of Ministry workers. Immediately they took off running out of the pub and onto the street. The direction to the attack was obvious as a nearby block was engulfed in flames. "Lets go! Wands at the ready!" Towler instructed his team as they set off at a dead run. In less than two minutes they reached the scene of chaos, Ministry workers were scrambling around rounding up muggles while up ahead the silhouette of another team of aurors could be seen advancing up the street. "Come on! Lets get going!" Towler yelled as they ran up the middle of the street with wands ready.
----------------
Kingsley Shacklebolt and 4 other aurors apparated into the pub and saw flames raging a few blocks away. Running out into the street they quickly arrived at the inferno. Up the street two other teams of aurors could be seen advancing towards the far end. "We need to get over to the other side fast! Apparate to that far corner, by that muggle Poor-lease car!" Kingsley said as he pointed to a police car on the opposite side of end of the block. Several loud bangs followed and Kingsley and his small group appeared at the far end of the street. There, just a few feet away from them stood four figures dressed in black. "Get them!" He yelled as they began to run towards the Death Eaters.

Slowly making their way up the block, Troy Barrington's aurors began to make out several figures standing at the corner. "Hurry up!" Troy said to the others as they all began to jog towards the corner. From behind they could hear the shouts as more Ministry workers arrived on scene, including another team of aurors that was running behind them to lend aide.
Loud popping noises from ahead then flashes showed five additional aurors apparate right next to the figures. Running toward the corner it became clear that these were Death Eaters. One appeared to be the leader of the group, and there also was a shorter fatter one in their mix. "Get them!" came a shout that was clearly Kingsley Shacklebolt. "Come on!" Troy yelled to his team as they took off at a full run the last few meters to the Death Eaters. In the next few seconds dozens of spell flew around the inferno of a block as some 30 aurors swarmed the Death Eaters.
Within seconds one of the Death Eaters was down, stunned. The little fat Death Eater then apparated away and was soon followed by the apparent leader. One last barrage of spells saw the last Death Eater get hit by no less than a dozen red flashes and he fell to the ground unconscious. Approaching the bodies the aurors bound them up then set off to assist the other Ministry workers in dealing with the muggles.
