Early-morning swim (anyone)

The wolves were chasing after him. He could feel them gaining speed. There was not much he could do. He was already running as fast as he could. He was running blindly in the dark, with nothing but his instinct directing him. His face had been scraped by tiny branches protruding from the surrounding trees. He didn't know how he got there and he didn't know how to get out. Suddenly he felt himself fall forwards. Screaming, he extended his arms, trying to prevent the fall. As he hit the ground, he turned around and looked up to see a large, hairy creature with piercing yellow eyes jump on top of him. "Noooooo!!"

Alex woke up with a start. He turned to the tiny clock by his bedside and saw it was only 6.30 am. He heard the snores of other Ravenclaw boys in the beds around his. "It's still early," he thought, leaning back and closing his eyes. After a few seconds, he sat up straight again. "It's no use. I can't get any sleep after that nasty nightmare," he said to himself. Getting out of bed, he headed to the wash basin, splashing some cold water on his face. Looking up at mirror, he saw his face was still pale and quite sweaty. He went towards the window and looked out. He could see the lake in the distance. It was calm and quiet. "Maybe I should go for a swim," he thought. Walking back to his bed, he quickly put on his swimming trunks, grabbed a towel and ran downstairs.

When he reached the lake, he took a look around. There was not a single person within sight. The only creatures around were the birds, chirping in the distance. Shrugging he jumped into the water. It was warmer than he had expected. Looking at his watch, he realised it was 6.50 AM. Soon the sun would be out. At the moment it was still quite dark, the sky being a dark blue colour.

Raidon looked around the common room, he had ended up pulling an all nighter, 'working' on behind classwork which was all do either today or tomorrow, or a week ago for that matter. It wasn't that the papers were hard to do or took much time he just wasn't interested which was why he was still awake. Raidon looked back down at the last paper he had to do and smiled when he realized he was done. Finishing up he folded it up and took the rest of his stuff up stairs Raidon looked around and let out an exasperated sigh/yawn when he noted the time, he would end up being more tired by the time he woke up again if he bothered with going asleep now.

So the only thing left to do was keep himself awake somehow, which was much easier a couple hours ago! Looking around he noted he had nothing at all to do! Thinking as best he could he tried to think of something that would keep him awake while hopefully making him more awake. Checking off things in his minbd he reasoned a shower would work probably would wake him but he might wake others then the thought hit him, a swim! Moving Raidon changed into swimming trunks then put on a pair of pants and a t-shirt over that and grabbed a towel and quickly made his way down to the lake.

Raidon through off his clothes and dove into the lake without a second glance and almost hit Alex. "Ah?! Jeeze SORRY 'bout that!"

Israel lay in a fitful asleep, she had had a long day, Potions took forever and then there was trouble with Saski, which she'd bailed her out of. Her eyes opened slowly, she couldn't help it, there was no way she could sleep anymore, though her body was fatigued. She lay there staring at her clock, a quarter passed six, an ungodly hour. She turned on her back and stared at the canopy over her head, its green material looked black in the dark. After several minutes of trying to decide what to do with herself, she decided that laying there wasn’t helping and the sound of some girl snoring was beginning to aggravate her. She slid out of bed and went down to the common room in her pyjama pants and top, an emerald green or course.

The Slytherin common room was completely deserted, every soul was fast asleep, probably lost in some fantastical dream, but she was there, seated on the couch staring at the fire. There was more on Israel’s mind than just the events of the previous day, school was coming to an end and the thought of going home to her father and her ‘stepmonster’ was almost unbearable. Israel was the last child her parents’ had, her older sisters were off with lives of their own and she was stuck with the stepmother who hated her guts, and just happened to be just around her sister’s age. Israel hated it when her father remarried, and to make it worse since then her father never listened to her, not even when she tried to explain what his wife was like when he wasn’t around.

The thought of the grief she was in for when she got home was getting to her, she needed to cool off, clear her head and there was only one place to go…the lake. “A swim is just what I need,” she said and ran for the stairs, taking them two at a time. In her dorm she changed into a black tankini and bottom, threw a robe over it, grabbed a towel and left. She left the Slytherin common room and crept up the dungeon stairs, the last thing she needed was to get caught by Filch, or his cat Mrs. Norris. Once clear of the dungeons and the halls, she slipped out the front door and ran as stealthily as she could for the lake. The sun wasn’t quite up yet when she reached; she could hear birds chirping a distance away; but there was still some cover to avoid prying eyes.

She rested her towel on the grass, and was taking off her robe when she heard a splash coming from her left, she picked up her towel and went to investigate. She held her wand in her hand ready for any eventuality, but put it away when she saw who it was. She smirked at the two boys, “Well, it seems I wasn’t the only one with this idea.”<br>

Justin woke up wearily. I t was about six in the morning and he had been out allnight. His 'exploring' as he put it, was paying off. H ealready had most of the secret passages found and he was ready to use them if ever need be. His first thought was to just lie back down ,but he really just wanted to go sit in the big comfortable chairs by the fire. He stood up and put on his robes and grabbed his wand. As he walked down the boys dormitories stairs he found himself thinking about quidditch. I t had been Bulgaria against England and Bulgaria had won 300-20. England had been horrible and they we're just lucky to get in two goals. At last he walked into the common room.

As he walked to one of the chairs he noticed ,for the first time since he woke up that it was very quiet in Gryffindor tower. He knew that he was probablly the only one awake so he ran back up to the dormitories and grabbed his DATDA book and ran back down to the common room. He needed to studie and he really liked DATDA. He looked inside and read and looked over many hexes and curses. He read for forty minutes and then decided that he wanted to go for a swim or to fly around outside. So he ranup to his room and put his DATDA book up and put on his faviorite shirt and some swimming trunks. He put his robes back on and picked his wand up. He then headed down the stairs and out through the portrait hole and headed down the many stairs.

He was going down the stairs when Peeves came up behind him and pushed him down the rest of the way. Justin got up and brushed himself off saying thanks alot Peeves ,just what I needed to do ,fall down a bunch of stairs and break my neck. He walked down the stairs and saw Nearly Headless Nick talking to the Fat Friar. He waved at them and said hi as he passed. Finally he reached the Entrance Hall and went out the doors torwards the lake where he saw three figures , two in the lake and one standing near the lake. As he walked further he saw that the two boys we're Alex Bluewick and Raidon Nikko. Then suddenly he saw the girl and he realised that it was none other thatn Israel Moon. He walked up and said " Hi Alex ,hi Raidon , and hi Israel. What brings all of you out here?" in a cheerful yet quizzical voice.

Israel stood looking at the two boys when a voice behind her made her jump, but she wasn’t startled for long. She turned to face Justin Lionheart, a fifth year Gryffindor, if she wasn’t mistaken. “I could ask you the same question.” She said to him and then to a look back at Raidon and Alex, “I don’t know about these guys but I just needed to clear my head. So why are you here Lionheart?” she asked with a raised eyebrow. Israel was hoping to find the lake empty as it should be at this hour of the morning, but it seemed there was a regular convention there this morning. “Look any of you expecting anyone else? The more people out here the more likely it is that we’ll get caught, and I am really not about dealing with the likes of McGonagall or one of them. No what? It doesn’t even matter, a little detention never hurt anyone and besides I need this.”<br>
Israel walked away from the boys, and once a reasonable distance away, she disrobed and dove into the lake. A few minutes later she resurfaced pulling her hair out of her face and taking a deep breath. The water was cool and calm, perfectly relaxing and she needed it, boy did she ever need it. She swam out a few feet and then back again, she had temporarily blocked out the boys and was busy relieving her mind of its stress. “No stepmonster, no going home, just me and the water. No stress, no work, just me and the water. I am here alone,” she thought, but opened her eyes knowing the latter statement not to be true. Israel had relaxed a great deal now, she usually calmed right down once she hit the water, she waded for a bit and then got a little closer to the boys but not too close, “So why are you two here?” she asked Raidon and Alex, “You two haven’t said much.” She said with a grin.

Israel couldn’t help her behaviour, she had a reputation to uphold, but truthfully she wanted to laugh at the situation. What were the odds of the four of them having the same idea that very morning? Israel was not as bad as she portrayed herself to be, but it was a necessary evil if she were to survive Slytherin. Though the houses had their own things against each other, Slytherin was worse, they held grudges against their own house members, and you didn’t want to be on the wrong side of it.

Raidon gave the Slytherin girl a grin and when she started talking, "nope it appears we all had the same idea, hey a swim by ones self can be great and all but being with others while doing something so relaxing is also great, if not greater!" Raidon laughed when yet another person joined them, this time a Gryffindor, "hehe so now we have one of everything, a Raven, a Huffy, a Snake, and Gryffy...eh that sounded corny to my own ears, deffinitaly need to snap out of it..." With that Raidon disapeared under the water, reapearing in water almost up to his waist as the Israel entered the water.

"Where have my manners gone dear maiden," Raidon cracked another large grin as he bowed his face nearly touching the water infront of him as he went on in a mock air of olden times. "It is a great honor that you deam us worthy enough to swim with you dear lovely Lady Israel!" Raidon let out a little laugh before sinking into the water and disapearing once again to reapear behind Alex to promptly dunk him.

Raidon tride to move away from the now dunked Alex before he got his just deserts, as some would put it, for dunking Alex. "To answer both of your guys' questions I came down cause I stayed up all night and I would just be more exhausted by the time I woke up then if I didn't get any sleep at all. Don't know why Alex is hear though, he beat me. Hey aren't yeh gonna join in the swimming Justin, it's Justin right? anyway are yeh gonna just stand there or are yeh gonna swim?" Raidon had yet another of his grins plastered across his lively face, his to long hair somewhat in his shining eyes.

((fyi: I know the hole 'I stayed up all night and I would just be more exhausted by the time I woke up then if I didn't get any sleep at all.' is pretty true I've tested that a lot. Heck that's how I am at the moment, *points to self* haven't slept since 8 something yesturday morning and I've been working which makes people more tired then if they just sit around, anyways that was my useless and unneeded ramble for the day/night.))

Israel looked at Raidon as he said they had one of everything, and called her a snake, “Yes well you best be careful Raidon Nikko, snakes bite,” she said with a smirk, “And yeah it was corny.” When Raidon began to act like this was the old days when men were chivalrous, “Why good sir,” she said and gave a mock curtsey, “What made you think I deemed you worthy of my company and not as a simple distraction for I have nothing better to do?” she said in the same air as he did. Israel was being snide she knew but truly what he said didn’t phase her, she thought him rather funny actually, but she was not about to say so. Alex Bluewick on the other hand was still as silent as ever, and she wondered why he didn’t say something, but she supposed everyone has their moments and moods, she didn’t always feel like talking either, not even to her best friend Saski.

Israel giggled unintentionally under her breath and Raidon dunked Alex and then attempted to get away before he could retaliate. Israel waded through the water as Raidon explained why he was at the lake at that hour, she was listening but acting as if she wasn’t. Israel decided to take a turn at Justin, “Yeah Lionheart you came to swim didn’t you? So swim, we all are, besides the water’s great. Isn’t it Nikko? Bluewick?”

((You speak the truth. I know exactly what you mean, I have done that when I had work I had to finish for school and it was imperative to complete. I stayed up all night, till I was so tired I couldn’t sleep if I wanted to and stayed up all day long as well. Just an aside.))

Justin looked at Israel as she addressed him and he said "Well I'm out here to swim of course and to clear my head with a long swim." He was hoping to go ahead and jump in ,but he waited for a while. He listened to Raidon talking to Israel then he listened to her as she addressed him back. Then she asked Justin another and this time he said " Well of course I'm coming in." he took off his robe and put it closer to the shore. With that he jumped in and made a huge splash. He dove down under the water then came back up. He then saw Raidon swimming torwards him ,so he dove back down and waited until he saw Raidon's feet. He grabbed Raidon and pulled him down under the water. Justin then came back up and started swimming torwards Alex.

Raidon laughed as the girl retaliated his mockery of a gentlemen speaking to a gentlewomen. He then continued. "You break my heart with your bitter words, was that not bite enough dear lady?" Raidon laughed again, he deffinitly was not allowed to stay up all night again!

Raidon continued to swim around and let out a small yelp of surprise when he was pulled under. Resurfasing Raidon shook his head and looked around spotting Justin. "Sir Lion I'll get you back for that one!" With that Raidon dove under the water and quickly caught up to Justin who was swimming towards Alex. Shooting up from under the water he promptly dunked Justin.

Justin was sure he could get away ,when he felt someone push underwater. He came back up sputtering and coughing. " Bleagh," He said aloud " lake water." He then dived quickly and looked around and saw Israel's legs , the Alex's. He decided to go after Alex this time and devised a plan. He rose and went over to Raidon and whispered his plan. " I'll start talking to him while you come up behind him and pull him under ,ok."

[Evelyn]

Evelyn walked around the school grounds not thinking of much only of where she was going to spend the summer. "Gosh, Ralida why do you support You-Know-Who?" Evelyn asked silently, she heard a voice comming from the mirrior she was holding, "Because You-Know-Who is very strong and evil, that is why darling" "My goodness Ralida are you going to have my room ready when I come over then?" Evelyn retorted back at the mirror, the mirror replied, "of course, darling, your uncle is gone though, he wanted to go study giants so he just got up and left, dear I hope your not mad or anything", "No", evelyn replied "just dissapointed thats all," then evelyn heard people talking, she then said, "Ralida, i must bit you a fond farewell untill school is out." Evelyn waked up slowly to the lake watching as the students played.

Just as Justin was about to start a conversation with Alex he sw a shape behind him and realised that it was Evelyn. He said " Hey Evelyn ,what are you doing here? I did'nt notice anyone else in the Gryffindor tower when I left." he had not seen anyone at all so he wondered how she was out here.

[Evelyn]

"Hello Justin",Evelyn said, then answering his question she said, "I was out here before you were wandering around aimlessly" Evelyn then looked him straight in the eyes wondering what was going through his mind at that moment
