Why students insisted on putting themselves in such dangerous situations was beyond Julius – not a day went by when there was news in the paper to scare the bravest of the brave, but it seemed the temptation to do what they were forbidden was just too much – or was it simply that they felt unnecessary boundaries and limitations were imposed on them? It was from there that Julius came up with his idea to punish Annabella; perhaps what he had in mind would make her understand why it was simply unacceptable from them to be found out of bounds at that time of night.
Julius wanted to smile at the girl as she entered but did not – this was, after all, detention. Julius hardly ever put any of his students in detention, if anything happened in his class he took away points, it was a harsher punishment in his opinion because the offender always got told off by his or her housemates. Not that he meant to be excessively harsh, but he really didn’t think lines was any form of punishment and he never knew what to give his students as a punishment to do in the one or two hours they spent being punished – besides, he didn’t think wasting a students time was benefitting to anyone. And so for Annabella he had chosen something in between what he would give as a punishment and what the more traditional form of punishment was at Hogwarts, she was going to be doing some writing certainly, but not lines.
The girl arrived and Julius pointed at where she was to sit and then sat down at his own desk. "Good morning. You have a few books before you, I want a summary on the most fearsome creatures that lurk in the dark, and then the ones that you think you might find at Hogwarts. If you have enough time, I'd also like you to write a summary of why security measures at this time are so important and the ones we are currently imposing at Hogwarts. Please ask me if you want anything explained about the things you find in the books before you and the pamphlet regarding security measures on magical schools," said Julius.
