((Your character is expected to have a copy of the book Practical Transfiguration. You can acquire this book by viewing it in the thread on the class board. This level of class should be familiar with chapters 1-4, and chapter 5 will be the new information they will cover this year of class.))
Minerva closed all of the books on her desk and with a flick of her wand sent them air-bound toward the bookshelf on the other side of the room. The students would be arriving soon, and she had some last minute preparation to do before the lesson. Knowing that the lazy summer days had done their job of numbing the students minds, she planned their first lesson to be somewhat of a review, but at the same time, she wanted to challenge them with something new. After all, she did need to prepare them for their O.W.L.S. that they would be taking later in the year.
As always, there would probably be students who either forgot their text-books or were unable to get them for one reason or another. Thus, Minerva found five extra copies of Practical Transfiguration for those who might need to borrow them. She felt like being kind today, and she might not even take house points from those who lacked the responsibility to come to class prepared.
After putting the extra books on the front table, she opened the cupboard on the left side of the room, and levitated twenty some odd shaped glass beakers to the students' desks. The glass containers were each full of a random liquid. She had acquired them earlier in the week from Professor Snape, under strict order to make sure that none of them contained anything that would be harmful for the students to swallow. Today's lesson would include the students actually testing their success by drinking the liquid that they were to be trying to turn to water. Everything was ready. All she had to do now was sit and wait for the students to come
((This post is a bit early, but I will be busy all day tomorrow.))

Celia looked at her timetable as she picked up her bag from her dormitory. According to it, her next lesson was Transfiguration, which she couldn't help smiling about. Transfiguration happened to be one of her favourite subjects, along with Ancient Runes, Charms and Muggle Studies. So she packed her textbooks, quills, ink, and the all-important pachment into her bag, not wishing to make a bad impression on her first day.
Arriving in the classroom, she found that on the desks were some odd-looking beakers, filled with a 'mystery liquid' of sorts. Otherwise, apart from the usual furniture, and McGonagall, the room was empty, so she decided to sit down at one of the front desks. She decided pretty soon that this lesson would involve turning this liquid into another, most likely water, seeing as the spell was in the Practical Transfigurations textbook. She had a feeling that this lesson was going to be rather fun...

Kennedy let out a sigh. He hated going to class. Why couldn't they just read the book on their own and then be tested on the material? He hated the fact that sometimes the lectures were so pointless and boring that he had a hard time staying awake. But he couldn't skip. Plus, as long as she didn't skip, he would see Fiona there as well.
He walked through the crowded hall toward McGonagall's room. At least Transfiguration was one of the more interesting subjects. The hands on experience that McGonagall allowed was usually enough to keep him alert and focused on the material. It was one of his better subjects as well. Hopefully today wouldn't be too full of the usual first day of class things. Kennedy wasn't in the mood to just sit and listen
Surprisingly, he was the second person in the room. He scrunched his eyebrows. Usually he wasn't the type to be early. He came just on time. It only made sense to use every little bit of time in the day. He drug himself to a desk toward the back of the room and swung his bag off of his shoulder, letting it fall loudly on the ground. He took a seat, leaned back in his chair and examined the desk in front of him. Sitting on it was a glass container with a thick yellowish liquid. It was rather disgusting. Kennedy flipped through his book and found the list of intermediate spells. Apparently, he would be turning the murky liquid into water. He wasn't going to drink it though, that was for sure!

Alexis raced back to her dorm. She forgot her Transfiguration Book. She was glad however that she did have a bit of time before class started. Alexis sighed calmly jumping on her bed. She reached under the bed and pulled the book out. She had placed it there since the dorm was lacking in space. Alexis opened the book in her lap. She smiled flipping through the pages. She liked Transfiguration so this would be a fun day for her. Even though Lexis was not sure yet which career she would choose, she was certain that she wanted to take NEWTS Transfiguration her sixth year. She already had a bunch of classes in mind for her NEWTS years just like Ciaran did. What could they say? Ciaran and Alexis had been friends since third year and they were both book nerds in a way. Actually, Ciaran liked to read in general more than he liked classes. It didn’t matter they both liked classes. Alexis closed her book and jumped from her bed. She has a good bit before the class would begin, but she did like to be a little early. Lexis ran out of her dorm and slammed the dorm. She smiled at her friends as she left the Ravenclaw Common Room. Alexis heard someone say something and she put her hands on her hips at the sight before her.
Alexis walked over to Ciaran. “Switched houses did you? Because this isn’t the Gryffindor Common Room smart one.” Alexis said joking. “No, I just had to give you this.” Ciaran said giving a casual smile and placing something in Lexis’s hand. “What is it?” She asked unfolding the crimpled up paper. “From Finnea.” He said calmly. Alexis opened the paper and began reading and chuckling at the letter from Ciaran’s sister. Ciaran gave her a look. “Is she saying embarrassing stories about me again?” He asked. Alexis nodded. “Yes.” She said. Ciaran sighed. After a moment, Lexis put the letter down and looked at Ciaran. “I miss her.” She said sighing. “Me too.” He commented. Alexis laughed. “And to think, I was friends with Finn before I was friends with you.” She smiled lightly. “She’s like my sister.” Alexis said smiling. “Then, what am I?” He asked eyeing her. “An annoying cousin.” She laughed. Ciaran poked her head playfully. Alexis and Ciaran acted like brothers and sisters. Some people thought they could be more. However, Lexis and Ciaran thought that was ridiculous. Could they not have a friends of the opposite sex without people thinking something more was going on? Childish as Lexis would say. Besides, Lexis and Ciaran both had their own crushes and they weren’t each other. “So, what do you think today’s lesson is?” She asked. Ciaran shrugged. Both Ciaran and Alexis love Transfiguration. “Hopefully it isn’t too much review.” He commented. Ciaran just wanted to learn something new and not go over old stuff, but he knew it was necessary. “Yes.” Alexis agreed. Suddenly, Alexis looked down at her watch. “Hey, we are going to be late.” She said walking from their spot. Ciaran looked at his watch. “No we aren’t.” He said following her. “We will be late for being early.” Alexis said quickening her pace. Minutes later, the two arrived outside the Transfiguration Classroom. Alexis peered in. The only people in there were Professor McGonagall, Celia, and a Slytherin Alexis knew to be named Kennedy. Alexis had met Celia a month before when she was injured, but she had never met this Slytherin. Alexis smiled walking in the door without a glance back at Ciaran. Alexis walked up to the Professor. “Morning.” She said calmly before taking a seat in a row somewhere in the middle. Ciaran followed her and took a seat near by Lexis. “Where is everyone?” She asked. They were not early as Alexis had hoped, but still there were few people in the classroom. Alexis raised an eyebrow looking around at the class full of empty seats ready to be claim. She then noticed the beakers in front of her and inched a bit closer wondering exactly what they would be doing. She put her book on her desk without letting it near the beaker.

Ciaran opened his dorm window. He smiled seeing his owl Niamh. “Whatcha got?” He asked his owl as he took the letter. Niamh hooted and then flew into Ciaran’s room. She perched herself on the top of her cage in the corner. Ciaran looked at the letter. On the envelope, it had in big, capital letters. CIA DON’T READ. GIVE THIS TO LEX. I’LL WRITE YOU LATER. Ciaran smirked throwing the letter onto his bed. He wouldn’t dare try and open it seeing at Finnea probably put a few charms on it. No, Ciaran would give it to Alexis. Alexis of course was a friend of Ciaran and one of Finnea’s very best friends. Even though Finnea was two years older than Alexis, they still were good friends. Ciaran laughed at Finnea for a brief moment and then picked up the letter and put it in his pocket. Finnea called Alexis Lex while Ciaran often called her plain Lexis. Most people called Alexis, Lexis just because it was easier. Ciaran picked up his Transfiguration Book and headed out of his dorm.
Five minutes later, Ciaran was standing near the Ravenclaw Common Room. Really, the dorms were supposed to be secrets, but really everyone basically knew in which directions the different common rooms were in. It was easily figured out that the Slytherins were in the dungeons. Ciaran didn’t know where the Hufflepuff Common Room was located, but Alexis had showed him where her common room was years before. Ciaran waited for Lexis. He gave her a casual smile when she came out. They made light chit chat when Ciaran handed her the letter. “Yea, and Finnea put charms on it against me, I think.” He commented. Lexis laughed. “Ha, yea. That sounds like Finn.” She said still reading the letter. After a minute, Lexis finished the letter and stuffed it into her pocket. She then began to follow her down the hall. Minutes later, the two arrived outside of the Transfiguration Classroom. Ciaran looked at his watch. “I think we’ve past the being early mark.” He commented. “Ahh.” Lexis said sighed as she walked into to the room. Only two other students were there. Ciaran followed Lexis to Professor McGonagall. “Hello, Professor.” He said lightly before turning to take a seat by Lexis. Ciaran eyed the beakers in front of him and put his book by a beaker. Ciaran looked t Alexis. He shook his head. “No clue.” Ciaran said shrugging. He then turned to the front and waited for the class to begin.
((Since Alexis and Ciaran are both my characters, all god-moding is approved by me))

Post by todd on Sept 15, 2006 2:03:00 GMT
Todd Koley woke up later than ever before. He was used to those lazy summer days that seemed to drone on forever, until school started, of course, and then it felt like everything had gone by too fast. It had taken him a bit to actual get out of the comfort of his warm blankets, and when he did he instantly regretted it. The air was so crisp and cool it was chilling, especially when he was only dressed in his thin pajamas. Shivering, Todd began to dress, though he still looked like he was half-asleep. It was so hard to get up early, especially for the sole-purpose of classes. Who needed 'em? Todd just wanted sleep, for after all, that was very important, wasn't it? Ah well. Teachers didn't understand, they only wanted to work their student's brain to the point of exhaustion. Yes, that was the goal, all year and it certainly worked on Todd. Some people enjoyed classes though, like Ravens. Ravens loved classes. How, Todd wasn't sure. He'd rather be anywhere else. Except home.
Rubbing his eyes with growing frustration when he couldn't wake from his sleepiness, Todd realized with a groan that he had put his shirt on backward. Rolling his eyes at his own stupidity, he took it off and put it on right before glancing a look in the mirror. He looked his normal charming self - or so he liked to think. One could always have self-confidence, right? What was wrong with thinking you looked good? Nothing, obviously! He did however brush through his blond hair a few times and splashed water on his face, though for two reasons. One, to wake him up. Two... to wake him up. Yeah.... He moved toward his books, all strewn in a pile from carelessness last night. He groaned when he bent over, making his head spin nauseously. Todd grabbed up all the books he could and threw them hap-hazardly into his bag, not really looking at what was there, or what he was putting in. When his bag looked appropriately heavy, he stopped tossing books and threw it over his shoulder.
As it turned out, he was relatively early. How ironic. All that rushing for nothing, and he could have gotten some more sleep. Sighing with resignation, he opened the door to Transfiguration and looked around. All of the people there were in his year, surprise surprise. One of them he recognized immediately as Ciaran, one of his dorm mates, and then there were two Ravenclaws and one Slythie. Todd mockingly called them Slythies, for they weren't his favorite people, and he let them know that too on occasion. Swaggering up to Ciaran - his feet sort of dragged in the process; he couldn't help that he was so damn tired! - he came right up to his side. A girl sat on his other side, and Todd quickly scanned his memory for her name. She looked all too familiar, for Ciaran often hung out with her, so he managed to get it - people called her Lexis. He gave her a smile and collapsed beside Ciaran.
"Hey," he greeted, letting his bag fall to the floor with an obnoxious thump. He nodded at the Professor with a smile and began to unpack his things. "Damn it!" he muttered under his breath when he couldn't find his Transfiguration book in the messy pile full of bent pages. "Sorry," he added toward Ciaran and Lexis, in case they took offense to swearing. Todd couldn't help it and he honorably blamed it on his parents, who didn't care what he did and often swore themselves. No, more than often. Every second of every day. He looked up at Professor McGonagall with a tired, frustrated sort of look and signaled to her with a little wave. "Um, Professor?" he asked, wondering if she could guess what he was going to say. He could see about five copies of the Transfiguration book on her desk, so she must have seen ahead of time what would happen when it came to people like Todd. "Professor, can I please use one of your books for the lesson? I must have left mine in the dorm..." He looked at her apologetically, hoping she would take pity on his case. He didn't want to lose Points already.

Sophia yawned loudly that morning, while rubbing her eyes. She finally fully awaked to find that it was pretty late, and that the rest of her dorm mates had already woken up at least. she hurried as she put her uniform and Hufflepuff robes on, and quickly ate her breakfast when she finally made her way up to the great hall. She settled on a goblet of pumpkin juice, some buttered toast with blackcurrant jam and a bowl of one of her favourite cereals.
After she had eaten, she went to pick up her stuff from the common room, after brushing and tieing up her hair and washing. She remembered from her timetable that her first lesson of the day was Transfiguration-the first lesson of the year, and thus of her OWL years. She had decided to work extra hard in the coming months, as they were probably going to be some of the most important of her life. So she packed her Transfiguration books, along with the usual stuff...quills, ink, parchment etc., and made her way to the classroom.
When she got there, she was disappointed to find that there was nobody she knew there. Nobody from her year, and nobody from Hufflepuff either. There were 3 people sitting together-a Ravenclaw girl with 2 Gryffindor boys, a Slytherin boy, and another Ravenclaw girl. She also noticed that on the desks were beakers ful of odd looking liquids, and she finally settled on sitting by one that was a royal blue colour, somewhere towards the middle-back of the room.

A new year. A new House Cup to win! Hopefully at any rate... especially since Ivy was now a Prefect! She fingered the badge she was obliged to wear thoughtfully. Prefects had so much responsibility... she wasn't exactly sure why they'd chosen her as one. Well - she was of course prepared to accept the responsibility and she'd do her utmost to make a good job of it but... she was so shy! Quite shy anyway; she was fairly quiet even amongst her friends and they were the only people she talked freely to. But she musn't let it be a barrier; no, it wasn't a barrier anyway and hadn't been for a while now - just she still remained naturally quiet. And Prefects had always seemed like such confident knowledgeable people when she was a small first year... but maybe she seemed like that to them now. She didn't know.
She didn't really want to wear this badge so prominently... she'd rather just pin it on her jumper. But the first years could do with knowing who she was - she'd already guided a few to their lessons - so it was pinned on the robes which would've covered it on her jumper, just underneath the Hufflepuff crest. Usually she omitted wearing her robes and took her jumper as enough uniform, but today it was drizzling and slightly miserable, so she'd gone for the option of slightly heavier clothing: she had Herbology later on today. Right now she was hurrying towards Transfiguration, unwilling to be late even though she had been taking a lost first year separated from their peers to the right room - being a Prefect was expected on top of being a good student.
As it happened she was well on time to class. None of her close friends were there but there was one girl in Hufflepuff she'd talked to. Ivy could hardly forget that situation. She could hardly believe it either. Ivy nodded to Professor McGonagall as she made her way over to Sophia and sat in the desk in front of her. "Hello there," she said in hushed tones but with an accompanying smile; even though class hadn't started the teacher was in the room so some level of quietness had to be kept. "How was your summer?" she asked politely as she searched for her books... where was it... not that one, not that one... yes! There it was. Ivy pulled the textbook out triumphantly and put it on her desk along with her other books as she turned back to the fourth year Hufflepuff, leaning her elbow on the other girl's desk. "I hope it improved after the start of it."

Maryn walked down an empty corridor. Class time. She was too excited actually. Well, Maryn was glad she was out of Beginner Classes, but she just wasn't too excited about the school year in general. What was there to be excited for? Her brother was sick and one of Maryn's good friends recently died. Maryn just didn't see the upcoming year as anything special. She wasn't too excited and Maryn really didn't think Hogwarts was too safe anymore. Not after all the attacks on the school. Maryn really just wanted to be at home, but she knew that wasn't an option. No, she might not have been too happy, but Maryn would get through the year. She had to, it wasn't an option. Maryn turned the corner. Transfiguration was starting in a few minutes. She really didn't know if any of her other friends would be present, but Maryn hoped so. Maryn had always liked Transfiguration, but Charms was her favorite. She then passed a group of Slytherins. Maryn winced. She wasn't in the condition to face a group of mean Slytherin. So, she just looked at the group and walked as fast as her feet could move. She heard a few laughs at her, but Maryn just tried to get away. After a few moments, she had cleared the group of Slyths and Maryn sighed. Now it was time for class.
Minutes, later Maryn had made her way to the Transfiguration Classroom.S he peered her head inside and walked in. Maryn said a brief hello to Professor McGonagall and then turned to take a seat. She chose on in the very back of the room. Maryn didn't see any friends so she just decided to get away from everyone if possible. Maryn took a seat and then looked around the room. A few fifth year Gryffindors, Ravenclaws, and one Slytherin and Hufflepuff were in the room. The only other fourth was Sophia and Maryn offered her a brief smile. Maryn put her text book on her desk>S eh avoided the glass beakers in front of her. Maryn peered in at the liquid. They would transforming it into something, most likely. Maryn sighed as she leaned back slightly in her chair and looked at Professor McGonagall. She would get through this class easily. Well, hopefully. Maryn sighed waiting for the class to begin.

Post by Kitty Swann on Sept 15, 2006 21:36:03 GMT
Had Kitty been at home, her mom would have dragged her out of bed or dumped ice cold water on her. This time, no one was there to do that. Only her practicing at home (yes, she practiced getting up early) made her wake up with just enough time to make it to class. Jumping out of bed, Kitty quickly threw on a short sleeved yellow and black striped shirt (some early Hufflepuff pride!) and jeans. She then wiggled into her formal Hogwarts robes, rolling up the sleeves to her elbow. She was going to put her hair up, but decided against it because of lack of time. She just put some water on it to keep the frizz down. With that all figured out, she raced through the dorm, whizzed out of the common room, and made her way through the crowds in the halls, glad to see people in general not in class yet. That meant she wasn't nearly as late as she had expected.
Smiling with satisfaction, Kitty let the door shut close behind her on its own accord. She looked about the room, frowning upon seeing not nearly as many people as there should. Apparently some might be late or others had decided to skip. Not very smart of them, nope. Kitty scanned the room for people she knew and her trained eyes landed on Ivy Tunstall, one of her dorm mates. Kitty knew her fairly well - after all, they had shared the same common room for four years now. She felt like challenging herself today in this class though, so when she saw bunches of people she didn't know, she veered that way. She always liked getting to know new people - it was like a hobby of hers. Weaving her way through the desks, Kitty sat down by a girl who was alone so far. She was sitting in the very back and looked around Kitty's age - maybe a tad younger. She put on a friendly smile and slid into the desk beside her.
"Hi!" she greeted, not at all bothering to keep her voice down. She gave the Professor a merry wave in greeting, feeling her hyperness seep through her limbs. She could hardly keep her legs still, let alone her whole body. "Name's Kitty," she said, thinking a proper introduction would do fine in this scenario. "Who are you?" she asked, but quickly went back on it. "Wait... no... I know.... argh! I know it!" she sighed in frustration. "Mary... no... Ma... Maryn! Maryn, right?" she smiled. "I'm not really good at last names so I'm not even going to try to guess, but it either starts with a T or a L, right?" While saying this, Kitty had gotten out her text book and noticed the strange beaker sitting in front of her desk. She leaned over and took a whiff of its contents, though she didn't try to drink it. It didn't look too tasty. "Wonder what that's for," she muttered thoughtfully.

Xadrian looked over his checklist he had prepared. All of his books were tucked neatly into his bag, along with plenty of parchment, quills, and anything else he could possibly need for class. His mother had taught him well about being prepared.
Glancing at his watch as he walked to class, he saw that he was a little later than he had hoped, but there was still plenty of time before he would be considered late. Keeping a steady pace, he smiled kindly to those he passed, pausing for brief hello's to those he knew.
Opening the door to the classroom, he noticed it was a little less than half full. There was a pretty balanced mix between years and houses, but nobody he recognized too well. With a nod and a polite smile, he glanced at Professor McGonnagall on his way by, and then took a seat toward the front. He made it a point to show his teachers that he was serious about his studies. Some might consider him a 'brown-noser', but Xadrian simply viewed it as being responsible. He knew the value of doing his best and learning as much as he could, and he wasn't afraid to be considered nerdy.

Alexandra woke up from her peaceful sleep with a yawn and a cough. She had a slight cold from the impending fall season and it was taking a toll on her poor little nose. She sniffled a bit as she got out of bed, a sneeze coming to her nose. She stood, shivering and hurried into a bath robe for her morning bath. After was all clean and her hair was dry, she dressed into her school robes and took hold of her books. Knowing her first class that day was Transfiguration, she grabbed her text book and shoved it into her bag, coughing loudly.
All was ready. She took some tissues, shoving those into her pocket, and hurried off to breakfast. She sat down and enjoyed a nice meal of hot cereal and toast. Alexandra coughed and sneezed and blew her nose all through breakfast. When she was full of food and her head was spinning, she stood and walked to the Transfiguration classroom.
She entered the classroom, seeing students had already arrived. Kennedy Valek was one of those students who had arrived already. She waved and quietly made her way to an empty seat next to Kennedy and sat down.
She smiled and said, "Hi Kennedy," which sounded nasally and showed just how sick she was. Alexandra placed her bag next her and started rummaging through it for her text book, which she laid on her desk top next to a beaker full of some sort of liquid. She smelled it, curious, but remembered that she could no smell thanks to her cold. She sighed, coughing a bit and settled down in her seat. A few seconds went by when suddenly an odd sort of tickling in the top of her nose. She breathed in and the tickling got worse. She wiggled her nose, but it didn't help. Suddenly, her head fell back as her whole body fell into the largest sneeze of the day.
"ACHOOOOOO!!!" She screamed, burying her nose in a tissue.

Post by Professor Minerva McGonagall on Sept 19, 2006 2:53:48 GMT
The students began filing into the classroom, and Minerva nodded to those who acknowledged her. A few of the students she recognized right away. Whether it was because they were good students or total opposite, it always seemed that the best and worst stood out. She did however remember all of her students, it just took a little more to remember some of the more laid back and quiet ones.
Almost as she might have guessed one of the students whom was in her house seemed to be needing a text book. "Yes Mr. Koley," she said in almost an annoyed voice. She really wasn't too bothered since she was in a good mood, but she wanted to make sure he knew that this wouldn't always be acceptable. "For today, you may borrow a copy of one of my books, mind you though, next class you had better have your own copy, or else it will be points from Gryffindor. You know that we don't want that, now do we?" She stood up and took a book to his desk, noticing a seemingly sick Slytherin girl as she walked by.
"Dear, dear," she said, looking at the sneezing girl. "Would you like to go see Madame Pompfrey in the hospital wing," she asked in a concerned voice. "I daresay we want the whole class getting sick now. However this would be a rather important lesson to miss. If you think you can stick it out, I recommend going to the hospital wing as soon as class is over."
She walked back up toward the front of the class, and scanned the room. Most of the students seemed to be there, so she decided it would be a good time to get class started. It was still a few minutes early, but they had a lot to accomplish.
"I trust you all had eventful summer breaks. I'm sure you all did plenty of reading and review," she smiled slightly. She knew that she would be lucky if five or so of the students had even touched a book over the summer. "So, shall we begin with a quick review before starting with the lesson for today? Who can name me the five Main Characteristics of Transfiguration? And then, after that, someone please tell me the difference between a Similar and Dissimilar Transfiguration. And finally, could someone explain how Complex and Simple Transfigurations differ from one another." She smiled again- bigger than her last smile. Scanning the room, Minerva looked for three intelligent, or at least brave, students to provide the class with the answers.

Celia raised her hand, eagerly. She was lucky-the 5 characteristics was the bit in the book which she had looked at last night. She sat and hoped that McGonnagall would choose her to answer-she always liked to be seen as a keen and able student, living up to her reputation as an intelligent Ravenclaw.

Well, it was an insinuation all teachers made wasn't it? That their students could go without any rest and spent their entire summer holidays memorising the textbooks. Ivy's hand glided over her textbook's leather cover subconciously; it hadn't been opened. She stared at Professor McGonagall for a moment as she asked her question, and then lowered her eyes as she tried to organise her understanding of the concept into something intelligible. Falteringly, she raised her hand in the air as she bit her lip and looked to the front of the classroom again.

I can't be late, I can't be late. The words repeated in her head as she ran down the halls toward the transfiguration room. How would it look to be late to your first day of class? Well, it wouldn't be good thats for sure. Somehow though in the rush of getting started nd trying to organize her quidditch schedule she had misplaced her book, and it took a long time to find it again. She was still searching when Ivy an the erst of her house left for class. Thankfully though, the book was found and now her task was to make it to transfiguration before class started.
Noko slid to a walk just before the door and entered it at a slower pace to hopefully not draw too much attention to herself, and thankfully reached a chair near Ivy just before Professor McGonagall started to speak. She didn't hear clearly what was being said though, still too flustered from her dash down the hallway. She tried to focus though, and she laid her book, parchment and quill on the desk in front of her before smiling at Ivy.

Alexandra wipped her nose after her large sneeze and blushed a bit as Professor McGonagall asked if she needed to go see Madam Pomphry. Alexandra sniffed and shook her head.
"No ma'me, I'll be fine," Again her voice sounded nasely and Alexandra was reminded of how much she hated colds. She hated missing Transfiguration, however, and didn't want to leave. Besides, she didn't want the whole class staring at her as she got up to leave. That would be too much attention and Alexandra hated attention.
The class soon began. Professor McGonagall started with some review questions which Alexandra knew the answer of, but didn't raise her hand. She seldom answered questions in class and when she did, her answers were short and very specific. She hated speaking and her one or two word answers pleased her.

Cassandra Blackfire scrutinized her appearance in the mirror one last time and smiled. Finally deciding she looked okay, she left the Gryffindor Dorm merrily. Glad that it was time for Transfiguration again, she couldn't help humming to herself. It would only be a little bit longer before her Animagi classes would begin, and she would be one step closer in becoming an animagus. As she walked down the familiar hallway, she waved and giggled as several students flagged down her attention. A few moments later, she walked confidently into McGonogall's classroom right before the professor began to speak.
Pulling out her transfiguration book, she began to thumb through the well worn pages. She must of read this book a million times over the summer so she could impress the teacher with her knowledge. Sure enough, when the teacher announced her first question, Cass smuggly put her hand in the air. It was an easy question and she was confident in her answer.

It wasn't too long after Minerva had spouted out the three review questions before three young ladies had raised their hands, apparently confident enough with their answers.
"Miss Richmond, if you could start us off, that would be great. And then Miss Tunstall, followed by Miss Blackfire." Minerva was confident in each of their abilities, and so she was quite sure she would receive adequate answers. However, summer tended to dull the minds a bit, so she listened closely nonetheless.
((For convenience sake, the three of you may answer in any order. I don't see any problem as long as you each answer the question that you had in the order they were asked- Celia answer the 1st question, Ivy the 2nd, and Cass the 3rd. I will then reply once each of you have answered in whatever order.))

Celia smiled. "The five characteristics are Size, shape, color, texture and function. Size refers to the physical size of the object, and is affected if the final object is less than half the size of the original, or more than double the size of the original. Shape refers to the appearance of the object. The shape could be a line, or a square, or something else, even a mixture of a few. If the shape of the final object is basically the same as that of the original, it is not changed. Color, as expected, refers to the colour and is only changed if the colour is greatly changed. Texture/material refers to what the objects are made of...whether fur, or metal, wood or something else, it doesn't matter and is only considered changed if the final object has a different texture to the original. Finally, function, refers to what the objects do. If the exordium, the end object, has a different function to the eventium, then it is changed, and this is the characteristic most often changed." Celia sat and waited for the other students to answer their questions, so she could get a reply from McGonagall.
