Thunder struck outside the castle as Cass studied her potions book by fire light. It was late, and the embers were beginning to burn low. Sleet pounded against the windows as the rain threatened to turn into a heavy snow. Fondly thinking back to last year, Cass remember the snowball fight that ended with her meeting her cousin. It seemed so innocent at the time, two young people teasing one another under a winter sun, but it became much more. Cass truly wonder what would of happened if she had never met Pyro Blackfire. Would she still just be just plain muggle born Cassandra Logton from Birmingham, or would she be something entirely different? She would never know.
To her left, she heard a familiar purring. Turning, she saw her old cat, Ringo, begging for her attention. Closing the black hard bound book, she emptied her lap. Jumping up, the snaggle toothed feline stretched his rear up into the air and yawned. While the feline curled up on top of her legs, Cass lazily scratched behind his ears. It was so peaceful in the common room late a night. Right now, her dorm was filled with a bunch of gaggling girls discussing everything from makeup to Death Eaters. It was hardly a relaxing atmosphere, and she was craving alone time. Still, her eyes would dart to the steps leading up to the dormitories, hoping to see Liam come down those stairs. Her boyfriend had been scarce since they had returned from the holidays. She had hardly seen him at all. Sighing, she put her head back against the red arm chair and stared up at the ceiling. She began to hear light footsteps coming down the stairs. Without moving her head, she uttered a greeting as she heard the feet hit the marble floor of the common room. " Isn't it a little late for you to be up? We do have class tomorrow, you know?"
