Kyra stepped from the carriage. She sighed. She didn’t want to be doing this. She didn’t want to be anywhere near this place. Kyra looked back at the carriage as she excited. This was her last chance to bail. She sighed. She couldn’t. She had to go. After talking with Celia earlier that day, she decided that she defiantly didn’t want to go, but this wasn’t really a choice. It wasn’t a choice if Kyra wanted to see Layne again which of course she did. Kyra eyed the village around her. She had never liked this place. The whole thing had always seemed so dirty to her when others thought that the village was lovely. But then again, not everyone had lived in Hogsmeade their whole lives as Kyra had. She was even born in the stupid village. Kyra sighed. Why was it that she was destined for this place? Kyra believed in destiny. But, why did Hogsmeade seem to be included in hers? She rolled her eyes at the stares from everyone. All the locals knew her and basically her whole life story. Poor Kyra, she had heard an old lady say once. They all knew that Clarissa was her grand-mother and Delaine was her mother. They all knew that the only decent person in her family was Chloe. Kyra sighed. She hated people judging her, but with Blade as a step-father, the judging came with the package.
Kyra walked silently. She could feel the stares that she was getting. Kyra was pretty sure that half of the village had heard about her troubles with Blade a week before. She sighed. Blade probably told people when he was drunk and then some people probably heard the arguments from the streets. People knew that the Thomas-Stone house-hold was full of drama and conflict. Kyra was pretty sure the whole thing was like a soap-opera to the village citizens. But to Kyra, it wasn’t a soap-opera . No, it was life. Kyra paused as she came upon her house. She sighed. Why did her house have to be on the outskirts? She sighed and then kept walking. Kyra wasn’t ready to go home just yet. No, there was one stop that she needed to make first. Kyra nodded to herself feeling as if this was a good decision. Yes, it was. She needed to talk with someone before she spoke with her mother and Blade. And there was only one person Kyra could talk to.
Knock, knock. Kyra waited. Silence. Knock, knock. “Chloe, it’s me. Let me in.” She persisted. There was another pause of silence and then Kyra heard the locks being removed. She smiled as the door opened. Kyra sighed as the door opened. “Hey. What was that for.” Chloe didn’t even smile. “Get in.” She said pulling Kyra inside. Kyra didn’t resist. Chloe bolted the doors closed after Kyra was settled. Then, Chloe looked at Kyra. She smiled. “Hey.” Chloe said hugging her niece. Kyra raised an eyebrow. “What was that for?” She asked. Chloe sighed. “Blade has come by here everyday this week. He knows Kyra and he isn’t happy that I know.” Kyra sighed. “That’s my fault. I’m sorry.” Chloe shook her head. “You’ve done nothing wrong.” She said confidently. Kyra eyed Chloe. “Not according to Blade.” She said shaking her head. Chloe grabbed Kyra’s shoulder. “Don’t you listen to him, Kyra. You’re better than him. You’re better than this place” Chloe said steadily. Kyra nodded.
“So, what do I do? About Layne, I mean? Should I go back for her?” Kyra asked. Chloe nodded. “Like I told you, you have to. Just until we figure out how to get Layne out and how to keep Blade away.” Kyra nodded. “You need to talk sense into Delaine.” Kyra said surely. Chloe sighed. “You mean your mum?” She asked. Kyra nodded. “I can’t call her that. Not anymore.” Kyra announced. Kyra thought that Chloe would get angry, but she didn’t. She just nodded. “I understand. I’ve been there before.” Kyra eyed Chloe as to say that she was confused, but she just nodded. “You, have. Haven’t you?” Kyra asked remembering. Chloe nodded as she took a seat in the living room. “All mum used to do was drink. I had five siblings and she would act as if she had none. I didn’t call her mum because she wasn’t and I don’t call her that now.” Chloe paused. Kyra sighed looking at Chloe with her small green eyes. “But, I want you to know, I regret the first time I called her Clarissa.” Chloe said surely. Kyra nodded. “Go home. It will work out.” Chloe announced. Kyra nodded and then slipped out of the house silently.
Kyra walked the murky streets as she neared her house. She winced as she walked up the path to the stupid, little shack. Kyra took in a deep breath. She walked up the steps with a grimace on her face. Kyra sighed as she pulled the door handle and opened the door. As she closed the door, there before her very eyes was Blade. “Hey.” Kyra said shortly. Blade glared at her. “Welcome back.” He said without any personality in his voice at all. Kyra walked across the room and stared at him. “Thanks, Blade.” She said gingerly. Blade eyed her. Kyra looked around the room. “Umm, should I just go to my room then?” She asked. Blade nodded. “Yes.” He said simply. Kyra nodded and then walked down the hall to the tiny room. She closed the door and instantly looked it. Kyra walked over to her blue painted, wooden desk. She sat down in her little painted chair. Kyra tore out a page from her pagebook. Well, there was nothing else to do.
Kyra looked up from her parchment as she finished. It was then that she noticed something. She didn’t hear screaming and she didn’t hear the cries of a scared Layne. Kyra didn’t hear anything at all but Blade listening to some music in the living space. Kyra eyed her door. Still, it didn’t move. Blade wasn’t coming in and he wasn’t trying to. What was wrong with this picture? Kyra hadn’t seen Layne or Delaine all day. Usually, Blade kept one of them at home at all times. Kyra sighed and left her chair. She unlocked her door calmly and stepped into the living space. Blade was listening to music and reading the paper. Kyra walked closer. “Blade, umm, where’s mum and Layne?” She didn’t say Delaine because that would upset Blade. Blade looked up at Kyra and then put his paper down. He had a smug, sly grin on his face. Kyra eyed him with her little green eyes. “Gone.” He said simply. Kyra sighed. “To the village? When are they coming back?” She asked simply. Blade stood up. “They’re not coming back. They’re away, in hiding from you. Kyra, you won’t see them again.” He said with a look of satisfaction on his face. Kyra’s stopped breathing for a minute. She eyed him with a look of despair on her face. “What?”

Gone
If I could disappear for just a little while. I’d go far away. I’d laugh cause I was gone. I’d try not to look back, but remember the few good times. Because I was gone. Because I was gone.
I wish things were easier. I wish I could leave like that. But, life is too complicated. Life is too hard. I stay here for them. They need me now more than ever. But, I wish I was that girl, gone. I wish that I was gone forever. I have to stay here. It’s like I’m destined to be here. As sad as it is, this is the place for me. But, not because I want it to be. How much I would pay to be gone. I’d give anything. But, it’s not enough. The three people I need most are here. And they can’t be alone. So, I’ll give up my gone dream for now, but only for the time being. Because, one day I’ll be gone. And no one will remember me. And I’ll think back and smile. Because no one remembers me. That’s what I need. To be gone and forgotten. I wish I was gone and forgotten. Help me be gone and forgotten. Gone
