Anna walked into the room looking for a place to sit. She saw a nice leather couch in the corner of the room, a perfect place to start on her Potions essay since it was nice and quiet. Even though, Anna had hardly any friends and she was quite content to herself she still wished she had friends. "Why doesn't anyone like me?" she thought to herself. She started on her essay, still thinking(and wishing) about friends and what it would be like to have friends.

Xad whistled a tune as he marched toward the student lounge. He had just received word from home. Nikka and Sanli both wrote about how much they missed him. After scribbling a quick reply, he tied the parchment to Kip's leg and sent him back to his sisters. He normally would have felt somewhat sad, knowing that they missed him so much, but he decided it was a good thing. Sure, they wished he were at home so that things could be like they used to be, but he sensed that their strong bond was still there, and that made him happy. Plus, Christmas was quickly approaching, and he would get to see them then.
With his bag packed full of plenty of homework, Xadrian was in his element. Sure, there were some homework assignments he despised, but for the most part, he still enjoyed learning more and more about magic every day. Many thought he was crazy, but he just always had loved learning.
He walked into the student lounge which was pretty deserted. There were some students already assembled in groups, working together on their homework. Often, he would work alone, however, he found that working with someone was always helpful for the more hands on magic. It was easy to watch others and learn from them. Noticing a younger girl sitting in the corner alone, he figured he might see if she too was doing homework.
"Hi there," he said cheerfully as he approached the girl. "My name's Xadrian, you can call me Xad. Mind if I join you?" He watched the girl and waited for an answer. If she preferred to be alone, there were plenty other places Xad saw that he could unpack his stuff and get to work, even if it meant working alone, he was used to it for the most part.

"Um, hi. My name is Anna Chancy," she said curiously, was he really being nice, or was he going to turn out mean like everyone else? She decided he wasn't so she went on.
"No I don't mind at all if you join me, maybe you could help me on this essay, you know you being a year older than me. It's my potions essay on the uses on Moonstone, and it has to be two feet long, and I hardly know all of the uses! Would you please help me? Maybe I could help you on your homework? I'm so glad someone is actually talking to me hardly anyone ever does!"
Anna was waiting for his answer, she was hoping he would sit with her and not think her a freak as everyone else did. Maybe, just maybe she would make a new friend.

The girl kindly introduced herself and allowed Xad to join her. She mentioned that she was doing some homework for potions as he took a seat and unloaded his books, parchment, other supplied. "Nice to meet you Anna," he replied. When she mentioned that nobody ever talked to her, Xad found it kind of odd. Unless she was some ruddy little brat after you got to know her, he couldn't see why else nobody would talk to her. But, he left it go and decided that maybe she just wasn't very social. He understood how that worked sometimes. During his first few years, he was a lot more introverted than he was now- not that he was overly outgoing, but he knew that he had to be less shy if he wanted to make friends. There weren't too many people who would just come up to you if you stayed alone all the time.
"I could definitely help you out a bit," he said, happy to be able to provide his experience. He remembered the same essay that Snape had assigned them when he was in the class just a year ago. There was a book he remembered that had helped a lot, if he could only think of the name. Then it came to him. "Here you go," he said, rummaging for a piece of scrap parchment. He scribbled the title of a book down and handed it to Anna. "This book helped me a lot. You should stop by the library later and check it out. But be careful not to be too detailed. Snape docked me points because he said I was too worried about unimportant aspects of the Moonstone. But of course, you never can win with him, now can you?" he said with a grin.
Xadrian pulled out his Arithmancy book. It was one of his favorite subjects that didn't require a wand. The reason he liked it so much was that it dealt with numbers. Xad loved numbers just because he found them to be so dependable. Unlike a lot of other forms of magic, numbers were subjective. They never changed. Twirling his pen in his hand, he scanned the previous lesson and started his homework. After a few seconds, he looked up at Anna again, realizing he needed to at least try to make conversation since he had been the one who asked to join her and not the other way around. "So what's your favorite subject?" he asked. It was a simple question, but Xadrian never got tired of talking about school.

I still have Hogwarts, which is now more of a home than my actual home is. I don't think I can continue to live in a house with the man who had nothing to do with my life for the past 9 years. Yue Li seems to be okay with it, so I suppose I should be as well. But what does she know? She's only 9. Mei sighed as she finished writing in her journal. She wrote in it in Chinese so no one else could read it, well, except for those who could read Chinese. Mei closd the leather bound book and flipped so her head was hanging off the bed. She lifted the mattress a bit and slid her journal underneath it. She knew it was a rather stupid hiding place, but there was no where else she could place it. Scooting up so she was sitting on her legs, Mei looked around her empty dormitory. It was so dull in here after classes. Usually there was a group gaggling girls in there, but not today. Mei whistled and then got off her bed, grabbed her bag, and left the dorm.
She walked down the corridors until she came upon the Student Lounge, hoping that there would be a bit of people in there at least. Maybe she wasn't in the mood to be in a huge group of friends, but she wanted to at least have company. When she opened the door, she realized her hopes of finding a few people to chat with were gone. Mei pouted slightly and then noticed two students sitting on a couch in the corner of the room. A smile appeared on her face as she made her way over. She was never a shy girl, and she liked company even if it was just sitting and doing homework together. There didn't need to be a huge conversation going on, although sometimes that was nice too. She looked oddly out of place, being in jeans and a t-shirt she had bought at Hogsmeade whereas the few people that were inside the room were wearing their uniforms.
"Where did everybody disappear to? Usually this room is bustling with activity." Mei said in greeting, she took an empty seat and smiled at both of them, "I'm Mei Yu Kim. Just call me Mei, Mei Yu is my full name only my mo-" She stopped, "Just call me Mei."

"Oh thank you so much for volunteering to help me on this essay," Anna said happily. She was so grateful that someone was talking to her, she didn't care if she did homework or just sat there talking to someone.
"Maybe I should be more social, I might make more friends,"Anna thought.
" I will definitely check this book out, if it helped you then it will certainly help me! I would love to help you on your homework, but I'm not taking Arithmancy, and I probably wouldn't understand a thing." Anna did wish she could help, but the entire subject would have to be explained to her before she could.
Oh, my favorite subject is Defense Against the Dark Arts, that is almost everyone's favorite subject, but even if some don't like it, I still always will."
Anna looked around the room, she and Xad were the only ones in the room. Then a girl came thought the door. She looked at least a year older than Xad and she was a Ravenclaw. She introduced herself kindly, and Anna replied " Hi, I'm Anna Chancy, and I have no idea where everyone is, we were to busy chatting to notice."

"No problem," Xad replied as Anna thanked him. He listened as she spoke a bit more. Kindly, he smiled and listened to what she had to say. "Oh, that's fine," he explained, "I didn't expect any help, I just figured it is always nice to have company when doing some work. It seems to make it more interesting, at least for me. Shortly after Xad had joined Anna, he saw a girl that he recognized from his house approach. He had never met her though, despite both being Ravenclaw. She began to introduce herself in a rather complicated way, and when she was done, Xad introduced himself back. "Nice to meet you Mei, I'm Xadrian, and you can call me Xad. I think that I've seen you a few times in the common room and such." He looked back down at his work and wrote a few more lines. "So are you working on homework?" Xadrian asked Mei. "Anna is working on Potions, and I have my Arithmancy here." He didn't want to seem rude if Mei had wanted to socialize rather than do work. Xad often tried to accommodate everyone if it was possible. ((sorry for the delay and short post ))

"Yes, it is nice to be able to have company, it makes the work go so much faster," Anna replied to his comment, " I'm actually kind of grateful you don't need any help, your homework looks complicated to me and it would probably make me loose my mind if you even tried to explain it to me."
To Anna what she just said sounded stupid, but hopefully it would not seem that way to Xad.
Then Anna realized that Mei probably had no idea what she was talking about since she had just walked in. So she decided to change the subject to something Mei could join in on.
Anna repeated the question Xad just asked, " Yes are you doing homework as well as us or are you here to just chat with some friends because we are sort of doing both?"
"Why does everything I say not make sense, it makes since to me but surely not to anyone else, I always say things in that way, I really need to work on that," Anna pondered.
(( Even though my user-name is different it still is the actual Anna Chancy, I had to create a new user-name because my friend and I were on this site signed in as hpfan1 and my friend was messing with my bio and my email, and she entered one of my email addresses and accidentally pressed enter and well when you change your email address it has to send you a new access code and I never got it so I decided to just change my user-name. Sorry about that. Oh, and it is no big deal about the delay, I don't mind at all.))

((Um. You know you could just... login on the account and it'll ask for the activation code and it says something like "if you haven't received an activation code click here..." and it will re email one to the entered email address?))
"Too busy chatting to notice? You two are the only ones in here." Mei smiled a small smile and became more comfortable in her seat. Her eyes wandered around the room and then refocused on the two she was talking to. The girl had introduced herself as Anna and the boy had introduced himself as Xadrian but told her to call him Xad. "Hai, most likely. I've seen you thre as well, so at one point in time both of us had to be in the common room at the same time." She grinned again as she said this.
He asked if she was working on homework, Anna asking her the same thing as well, and Mei shook her head, "No. I've already finished all my homework. But if you two don't want any distractions, I understand. I can go grab something to eat in the Great Hall. I just needed to get out of the dorms and common room. Being in there for two long always makes me go insane." Mei found herself rambling and gracefully stopped talking. It wasn't abrupt or anything, it was a smooth change and she just grew quiet.

((Well my friend accidentally changed my password too, I called her today to ask her what it is but she can't remember, so I had the password sent to me and well I never got it. So no I can't even log on. I'm never letting her get on again.))
"Well, we were talking and I guess we weren't paying attention to our surroundings. So we didn't notice anything," Anna answered.
"I don't think you will be a distraction at all. You can leave if you want to, that is if you don't want to watch us do homework, unless you are willing to help me look up the uses of moonstone in this book Xad gave me the title of, we could run to the library really fast, um if you wouldn't mind." Anna said.
Anna shifted in her seat, she was suffocating for some reason and wished she could just whisk out her wand and extinguish the fire, but Xad and Mei might be cold. She hoped she wasn't getting sick, because she was planning on going to the next Hogsmeade visit soon.
"You know I am getting kind of hungry, what about you Xad, are you? We could all run down to dinner together." Anna suggested.

((Hey you guys where are you all? Did you guys go on vacation or something? I have no one to post with, so please reply back!!!!))
Anna was still waiting for Xad's reply as she was starting to get VERY hungry. Maybe she shouldn't have skipped lunch. But she had to, she had to finish that essay before History of Magic otherwise Professor Binns would have been very angry and she would probably get a T for Troll as her grade and she couldn't bear to have one of those grades, especially since she wanted to do fairly well in her studies. Well, she decided, I just won't put things off from now on.
((Sorry it's so short I couldn't think of anything else to put.))

Rachel sauntered into The Student Lounge, laughing quietly at the letter her cousin had sent her. Glancing around the room she noticed a group of three talking in the corner. She stared at them curiously, wondering who they were. "They're in the other houses," she thought, re-positioning herself. Flicking her long hair, Rachel took out her journal, and attempted to write. "I am so very bored. Incredibly bored, even," she wrote before snapping the book shut again. Glancing back at the group, she wondered if she could talk to them. "But they look so...socially awkward," she murmured, and then, realising she had actually talked to herself, looked around the room cautiously. Luckily no one seemed to have noticed.
"They do look smart, though," she pondered after a moment, staring intently at them. Perhaps if she was nice she could get one of them to do her homework sometime. Or, they might be amusing company for a while, with their ridiculous lower class ways. They probably would get tongue tied just looking at her. After all, she was practically a royal. Her father was the cousin of the Prince, after all. And she deserved a bit of entertainment and admiration.
Getting up, Rachel smiled as she walked over to the group. "Hi, I'm Rachel Mason," she said politely, taking a seat next to them. "What are you guys doing?" She asked, staring pointedly at the guy. "Hmmm...older guy," she thought mischeviously. Too bad he was a boring Ravenclaw. But when had a little thing like that ever stopped her?

As Anna was sitting there listening to Xad and Mei talk, she noticed a girl in her year, but in Slytherin,oh, great, she thought. Slytherins were always so rude and proud of being pureblood and all that. The girl sat down, and got out a journal of some sort and wrote something short, then said something to herself. Apparently she didn't want anyone to notice that she had talked to herself, so she looked around the room.
Anna was wondering if the girl would come over, and when she did and introduced herself.
"Oh, hi, I'm Anna Chancy, this is Xadrian Kwan, and Mei Yu Kim," Anna said

"Hi Anna, Xadriean, Mei," she said, nodding at each of them in greeting. A moment passed where she just stared at the four before she leant back in the chair.
"So...what are you guys all up to?" She asked, desperately searching for something to say. One of the girls seemed so dull, and the other was so common it was almost funny. In a ridiculous, horrifying way. Xadrian seemed a bit better. A bit more outgoing, and more interesting. Before anyone could say anything Rachel continued. "I hope you don't mind me barging in like this, but I'm a bit bored and was hoping for someone to talk to," Rachel said, smiling at them. She wasn't sure how long she could keep this nice-girl act on. It was becoming boring. In fact, this whole situation was becoming boring. If somebody didn't do something quickly she was going to give up on Xadrian altogether. "So, tell me about yourselves," she said, smiling at Xadrian.

Temperance walked down the corridor. She was headed for the Student Lounge, as she had lots of homework to do. She had thought that a little company would be just what she needed right now, since today was the anniversary of her parents' disappearance three years ago. She didn't want anybody to feel sorry for her, all she wanted was her friends.
When she reached the door to the lounge, she flung it open to reveal the contents inside: lots of students, couches and chairs, the big stone fireplace, parchment, quills, and people's rubbish. Her eyes scanned the room for people she knew. She saw Anna, one of her best friends, who was in Gryffindor, a few Ravenclaws, one girl she knew was in her year and dorm, her name was Mei, a boy a year younger than her. The boy, Mei, and Anna were all chatting together, then she saw it: Anna was chatting with a Slytherin! In all the time Tempe knew Anna, she had never seen her chatting with a Slytherin. As far as Tempe thought, Slytherins were downright mean, but some were okay, though. Maybe this one was one of the good ones, but from the way the girl was acting like she was some kind of royal, Tempe thought not.
"Hi, Anna, Mei, and sorry but I forgot your name," Tempe said to Anna, Mei, and the boy, she kind of ignored the Slytherin, but then she thought it was rude, and asked, " Hello, what's your name, are you one of Anna's friends?"
As she waited for the girl's reply, she thought of her parents and suddenly she wanted to cry, but I mustn't do that, not in front of everybody, she thought.

"I'm Rachel," she said coolly, looking the new girl up and down before turning back to the group. Rachel didn't care for this new girl at all. At first the girl had practically ignored her, then added her as an afterthought. This would not do at all. All thoughts of Xadrian disappeared as she stared at the new girl. "What's your name?" She asked after a pause, faking a smile.

Anna stared into space, the girl who had said her name was Rachel was flirting with Xad and she was becoming very bored. The door opened and she saw her best friend, Tempe, come through the door. That cheered her day up greatly.
Then she realized that today was the day Tempe's parents had disappeared, no wonder Tempe was looking so sad. Tempe looked around the room and then noticed Anna, and walked over to them. She greeted them in her I'm-trying-to-not-sound-sad voice.
"Oh, hey Tempe, how's it going?" as Anna said that she realized it was the wrong thing to say, because the second she said it Tempe started to look even more gloomy than she originally was.
"Tempe," in an atempt to cheer her up, " this is Rachel, Xad, and I think you know Mei."

Rachel looked around and rolled her eyes at the group. They had barely said two words, and this new girl just looked depressed. If she didn't get out of there in two seconds she'd scream. "Well, I hope to see you guys around!" She said, trying to make her voice sound excited. "Maybe I'll see you guys at lunch," she said, before turning around and walking out of the room. She couldn't stand boring people, and there was no fun to be had with that group.

"Oh, hello everyone, again," she said.
The new girl was flirting with Xadrian, oh well, most girls flirt with guys if there around, Tempe just wasn't the type. Tempe was staring at Anna, who was looking incredibly bored. It was only when Rachel got up and said her goodbyes and just walked straight out of the room. Tempe got the feeling the girl didn't like her, nor Anna. Well if she didn't want to make friends, fine by me. Personally, Tempe thought it was downright rude to just walk out on people.
"What was that all about?" Tempe asked the group.

Rachel paused before the doorway as she heard Tempe ask the group, "What was that all about?" Turning around and pasting on a big grin she started walking towards Tempe and the group. "I'm sorry, did you say something?" Sitting back down in her chair she looked up at Tempe expectantly.
