It was Beltane. Jamison was glad a celebration was finally upon Hogwarts again. It had been too long since they had a fun event to go to and a break for classes. OWLS were soon and Jamison knew he was close to ready, but he still needed something to lighten the mood. There had been too much talk lately with everything with the kidnappings. Beltane was the perfect time to foget about all of that and just have fun with friends and family. Jamison knew that soon his sixth year would be upon him. There was only so much time he had to spend as a fifth year. Jamison decided that for once he would have fun and try not to be concered for anything or anyone else. He did feel a bit guilty, yes this was true, but Jamison needed to fun day to spend with Meyghan. He just needed time to spend with her and some spring fun. Maybe then, he could relax a bit. Beltane was all Jamison needed to get into the true spring spirit.
Jamison was alone in his dorm getting dressed. What did he wear to this? Jamison really didn't have the slightest idea. True, he did know how to dress. This was one of the many areas of life he was raised on, but he just didn't know what kind of a celebration Beltane was. He knew that girls wore dresses and things like that, but what about the guys? Jamison hated thinking he was like his little sister putting every item of clothing he own on his bed and pondering for an hour. But, this was the position he was placed with. Thankfully, it only took a few moe moments for Jamison to pcik out an outfit. He decided to his dressy kaki pants, a brown classy belt, a pale yellow dress shirt, and some nice brown shoes. Jamison usually just wore Ravenclaw colors, but what the heck. It was Beltane and Jamison did want to look atleast a little bit in the spring spirit.
Jamison was glad he had asked Meyghan to this event. She was the only girl Jamison could ever remember really liking. Well, there was one. Jamison was five years old when he laid eyes on Tammi Birkly. She was actually seven years old and thought that boys were icky. Tammi was about three inches taller than Jamison and had a lot of moxi, but Jamison liked her in an innocent five year old kind of way. But, Tammi thought of Jamison as an icky boy destined to live a life in girls' sadows. However, what Jamison felt for Meyghan wasn't anythnig like what he felt for Tammi. He liked Meyghan because yes, she was pretty, but she was very funny, smart, and sweet and for Jamison that's what made her so different in his mind then Tammi. Jamison adjusted his shirt before exiting for the celebration. He deided to go a few minutes early to pick Meyghan some flowers as was accustomed. So, with that, Jamison left his dorm.
The grounds were bright with beautiful flowers everywhere. Couple were walking hand in hand and first years were skipping merrily. Some people were eating, other dancing, and some were enjoying the maypole. Jamison smile at everyone while walking over to the lake. He started picking flowevers by the shore. There were all sorts of colors and he just picked one of every. True, Jamison wasn't a wild flower expert, but he knew what looked okay. It took about ten mintues for Jamison to get a good handful. He reached in his pocket for some ribben he had placed in there earlier. Jamison then tied a red ribbon around the flowers hoping they looked okay. He then turned towards the castle going to find Meyghan.
It was naering the time they agreed to meet. Jamison sat near the Castle Doors as they agreed upon. He hoped that they would have a good time and could talk some more. Jamison liked Meyghan's company better than any girl he knew. Well, except for Wendi, but of course they were totally different things. Jamison smiled at every single person that passed. It was a good day. Jamison was glad to forget about everything else and have some worry free fun even if it killed him. This was all Jamison needed for the moment. Jamison stood calmly waiting for Meyghan.

Meyghan was once again rushing around the dorms, looking for the perfect thing to wear. She had agreed to join Jamison at the Beltane Celebration, and couldn’t believe that she didn’t already have a dress picked out. She didn’t understand what it was about the thoughts of meeting Jamison that made her so nervous, because once she was around him; she relaxed and became her usual half shy half flirty self. That was Meyghan’s way, to be shy, but in the same manner flirt just so that it was barely noticeable. Digging through her closet, Meyghan began wondering how everyone else would be dressing. Surely this isn’t a completely formal event. She thought, as she come across a beautiful pink chiffon print halter dress that her father had bought her for a family dinner the last summer. It was fitted around her waist, and came slightly above the knee in a type of bubble hem. Meyghan thought it would be perfect for the night. She decided on a pair of taupe thong style sandals that had cute pink bows tied around the spot where the straps met. She dug through her jewelry box, after a quick change of clothes to find a matching set of earrings and necklace, which had been left to her by her mother. She had never worn it whimsically unless she was at home with her father, but she thought that it was a special enough occasion tonight. Meyghan pulled the silver heart and pearl necklace out of its silver polished box, and carefully clasped it around her neck, followed carefully by the earrings looping through her ears. She walked over to the mirror to try to decide what to do with her hair. That was a decision that didn’t take as long as she expected. Grabbing a pink and taupe ribbon that matched her dress and shoes, she quickly French braided the ribbon through her hair, ending it with a tiny but perfect bow. Meyghan glanced at herself once more in the window, and was pleased. She couldn’t have done better for herself. Her only thought now, was if she might be over dressed. She shook the thought from her mind, knowing that it didn’t matter how everyone else was dressed, people weren’t to be judged by how they were dressed but how they acted. Sliding on her watch, and grabbing a wrap that matched her dress, she made sure that MeyMey was tucked safely under her pillow, and left the dorm.
Meyghan knew that getting dressed had taken her forever, and it was getting far too close to time for her to meet with Jamison, for her to take the time to dawdle around. She ran from the dorm to the Common Room, hoping that no one would stop her and ask her why she was in such a rush. She knew that most were already out enjoying the celebration, but she didn’t have time for any of the stragglers questions. She didn’t want to be late for her meeting with Jamison. Meyghan thought as she walked from Ravenclaw Tower, toward the castle doors, what it was about Jamison that made her feel the way she did. Of course, there was the fact that he was cute, but that wasn’t entirely it. She thought about all of Jamison’s wonderful traits, he was charming, and intelligent, but it was his gentleness that had originally made Meyghan start thinking about him almost constantly. She hadn’t met very many others who were gentlemen to all that they met, unless provoked otherwise. Some of the guys that she had gotten to know were just themselves to everyone, be it if they were pranksters, or even snobby little prats. It never mattered. Meyghan thought about this all the way to the castle doors. There was something different about Jamison that had attracted her to him more than anyone else that she had ever met. She just wasn’t able to figure out exactly what it had been. She liked the bit of mystery though, but knew that if the occasion ever arose where she would have to admit what attracted her to him, she wouldn’t be able to fully answer for even she wasn’t sure.
Before Meyghan realized it, she was already at the castle doors, and if she had snapped out of her trance a moment later, she would have bumped into the doors, from lack of attention. She had been so wrapped up in her thoughts that she hadn’t noticed that she was even still walking, until she raised her hand to reach for the handle on the door to push it open. Stepping out into the fresh air, she remembered what she had been thinking of, and that she was meeting Jamison at these very doors that she know stood outside of. She hadn’t realized that one could get so lost in thought, that they forgot everything they were doing, and even their reason for the journey they were on. Meyghan was glad to have remembered what she was doing outside the castle. It was Beltane. What a better reason to be with someone you really liked. Spring was in the air, and so was love. You could tell it, just by looking around and breathing the air. It was almost as if it were a later type of Valentine’s Day. Turning slightly toward her left, she noticed Jamison standing, waiting on her. Walking over to him, she smiled gently. “Happy Beltane.” She stated a bit shyly. Her thoughts had her realizing that she really liked Jamison, and where she was usually flirty, she decided not to be so open with it this time. Shyness might work for one night. She thought to herself.
((sorry if it's horrible. I don't remember writing such a long post, and Meyghan decided to be a bit shy about it.))

Jamison smiled as Meyghan approached him. He took a few steps towards her with his calm grin placed firmly on his face as always. She greeted him with a happy Beltane. "Happy Beltane to you too." He replied. Jamison then realized that the flowers he had picked for her were at his side. He pulled his hand up and held them in front of them. "These are for you." He said calmly. During Beltane, it was accustomed that young gentlemen gave the young girls flowers. They were nothing fancy, but Jamison hoped Meyghan liked them all the same. "I can hold them for you until later." Jamison offered not wanting her to have to carry his gift around all day. Well, not unless she wanted to. Jamison's grin continued as the flowers fell to his side once again. "You look lovely." Jamison offered with a bit of a shy grin on his face. Jamison was a gentlemen, it was something had had been raised to. Sometimes, being a gentlemen made him shy. A weird, unwanted sort of shy, though.
Today was Jamison's day. The whole celebration was just a good idea. Being near the end of the term, the students had the chance to have fun without stress. Examinations, classwork, and other such things weren't on anyone's minds. Each student was free to relax and enjoy the day, the moment. Every student needed this. Everyone needed a break now and then to forget the challenges of life. Jamison's challenge was in helping raise an eleven year old girl and then of course, was his life in general. He had school work, and studies to do. Beltane was a good to put this all aside. Just for a moment. It was a time for new experience and to live life to the fullest. For once, Jamison decided that this was good for him. The grounds continued to gleam with the glow of Beltane. The younger students skipped around holding flowers and chasing one another. The older couples were walking arm and arm not saying a word but enjoying the time.
Jamison glance at Meyghan and offered a smile. "So.." He said calming smiling at the students who passed. "Should we eat now, or would you rather take charge of the maypole, or dance or something?" Jamison asked chuckling as his words came out a bit jumbled. Jamison could take charge, but he was raised to let the lady make the decisions unless she wanted him to step up and decided. It was something Jamison's grandmother was rather keen on and Jamison wouldn't dare go against her wisdom. The wind blew over them shaking Jamison's hair a bit. Jamison merely smiled letting the wind cool him a bit. The spring weather was cool, but summer would be coming all too soon. This offered heat and it was apparent that it wouldn't take much time to reach Hogwarts. Jamison eyed Meyghan waiting for her to respond.

Meyghan smiled as Jamison replied with the same greeting, and offered her some wonderful flowers. Meyghan wondered how he knew that she loved flowers, no matter what type of flowers they were. “They are wonderful.” She said as she leaned over and gave him a quick thank you peck on the cheek. Meyghan had been so nervous just before walking out the door that it was a shock to her, how suddenly calm she was. “I don’t mind carrying them.” She said pulling one perfect small pink flower out of the bunch and adding it to her hair, “There, perfect.” She said smiling. Meyghan couldn’t help but to blush when Jamison told her that she looked lovely. “You look awesome, as well.” She said trying to shake off the pinkish color in her cheeks. She wasn’t one who blushed often and it was always very apparent when she did.
Meyghan looked at Jamison, and began thinking again. There was more than his gentle ways that had attracted her to him. She couldn’t figure it all out though. Could it be his responsibility for family, Meyghan too shared that feeling. She had answered many questions for Cleveland, even though he was only two years younger than she was. There were just some things that a child couldn’t ask a parent and a sibling was the best bet. Meyghan had always felt that closeness with her brother, even if they did get into arguments occasionally. Meyghan usually could tell when something was bothering Cleve even before he admitted it, or told anyone about it. It was always odd the way Meyghan was with her brother. Meyghan knew that was part of the attraction, but she wanted to know the rest. What was it in her sweet Jamison’s eyes that pulled her in so close? What was it that made Meyghan feel like an hour would be an eternity if she didn’t have a meeting with him to look forward to? She needed to know the answers to these questions before she could ever admit how deeply she cared for him.
As Jamison offered to let Meyghan decide the beginning of the date’s activities, she realized that she no longer wanted to make any decisions, but to give Jamison that pleasure. She trusted him, and it had already seemed as if there was a deeper connection there than just anyone could see. “You choose. I insist. I just plan on having a good time with you regardless how the evening begins or ends.” Meyghan smiled, not one of her usual just friendly smiles, but one with true feelings of happiness behind it. The smile made Meyghan’s face seem to glow and she knew it.
((Sorry it's a bit short. I'm not sure where Meyghan is going with the whole needing to know thing. But I have to let her let it work it's course.))

Jamison grinned as Meyghan excepted the flowers. He didn’t really know what type she wanted, but wildflowers seemed festive enough. Meyghan also gave Jamison a peck on the cheek which he grinned about on the inside. Jamison tried not to let it show too much on the outside, but that didn’t quite work. Meyghan said that she didn’t mind carrying them. Jamison would be more than happy to take them until the celebration was over, but if she wanted to hole them then that was fine. Jamison handed her the flowers and smiled as she put one in her hair. This would be a great day. Jamison already knew it. It was the perfect celebration for the perfect day. Jamison officially liked Beltane a lot. Jamison liked the pink shade Meyghan turned. It was so cute and made her seem so innocent even if for a moment. It always made him smile when she did it. Meyghan told Jamison he looked awesome as well. She did like that word didn’t she? In Jamison’s mind it was Meyghan’s word and it suited her well. For a moment, time stood still. Jamison knew this was Wendi’s wish. She had told him about a night where she wished on a shooting star that time would freeze. Jamison wished Wendi’s wish could come true. Wendi and Jamison both needed that. Maybe Wendi a bad more though. She was so innocent and yet she already knew the horrors of the world. Jamison didn’t know if he could ever fully understand how she made it through each day with a smile on her face.
“You can’t catch me!” One Hufflepuff first year girl screamed to a slightly older Gryffindor boy. “Watch me!” He called running over to her. The girl didn’t even have time to shriek as he gave a big kiss on the cheek. Jamison grinned at the two. The girl whipped her cheek and ran off as the boy chased after her. It was a funny situation. Much like one Jamison had experience as a young boy except that these two were older. Did the girl still think boys were icky? That was a stage Jamison knew Wendi had just grown out of months before entering Hogwarts. It was funny in a cute little kid sort of way. Sometimes being that young and innocent seemed like a pleasant alternative to growing older and having to go through more in life. Jamison had learned to grow up at so young of an age, that it was like he missed out on much of childhood. He lost his parents before he could even read; he learned to take care of his elderly grandparents at the age of ten. And Jamison was trying to give Wendi the fun life he never had. All of this took away from Jamison’s being a kid, and now those moments would never return to him.
Meyghan insisted that Jamison choose the activities of the day. Usually, he just gave the lady the choice as his grandmother insisted that this was the proper thing to do. But, if Meyghan wanted him to choose he would. He looked a around at what the other couples were doing. Most of them were just now arriving and picking flowers. Others were eating, but Jamison really wasn’t hungry at the moment. He smiled eyeing the dance floor not too far from where they stood. He gave a cute but mischievous smile and eyed Meyghan. “Okay..” He said calmly. “I know it is early, but may I have this dance my lady?” Jamison said in a funny way placing his hand out in front of her hoping she would grab it. The music was faster for the moment, but that would change soon enough. Jamison waited for Meyghan to answer.

Meyghan took no time accepting Jamison's offer to dance. She felt safe, and even though she had a deep need to know feeling, being with Jamison allowed her to ignore it for a time. She could always ponder on it later.
Meyghan allowed herself to get lost in the tone of the music, only noticing the joy that she was feeling as she danced with Jamison. Everything was going to be perfect, and Meyghan hoped that for one brief moment when everything was right, time would stand still. Meyghan was one to admit that her lack of fear of certain things always left her a bit insecure, but she didn't feel that at the moment. She felt as if no matter what happened, she would be safe. As if there had been a charm placed around her, stopping her from getting hurt. The only thing Meyghan allowed herself to fear, was the thoughts of things not going well with Jamison. She admitted to herself that she felt a deep closeness with him. It oddly made her comfortable with him, but uncomfortable with herself. She tried to remember the last time she had felt a closeness that remotely resemebled the same feelings as this. The only one she could think of was her mother, and that had not turned out well at all. Meyghan pushed the thoughts out of her mind, and just enjoyed the dance and the music.
((Jamison, I'm so sorry it has taken me so long to answer. I got severly sick this last week, and wasn't able to sit at my computer for very long. I do hope we can continue this))

Jamison smiled as Jamison took his hand. He liked to dance so dancing with Meyghan seemed like a good idea. Jamison had been sent to Ballroom Dance Classes at the age of twelve. His grandparents raised him as a gentlemen and that's what he was. Of course, it was awkward then. Dancing with a girl you didn't know at all was just weird at the time, but dancing with Meyghan wasn't. It just seemed so natural. As if he were meant to dance with her. Usually, Jamison was an awkward sort of person. He got nervous easily and his jokes were stupid, but now he just didn't feel like that. Meyghan made Jamison feel different than any other person ever had. Well, with the exception of Wendi who was like his best friend. Jamison's life was far from normal. He didn't have parents, he lived with his grandparents, and he was basically in charge of a twelve years old. But, now he felt normal. With Meyghan he felt like a normal Jamison and not like a kid with a weird home life. Meyghan was special and she made Jamison feel normal. No one had ever made Jamison feel like that. He smiled, Jamison didn't know what would happen, but he could hope for the best. The music was still fast. He wasn't the best dancer with that sort of music, but he was okay. Jamison smiled watching Meyghan. She seemed to be a better dancer then Jamison. But, then again dancing had never been his passion.
Jamison smiled as the music drifted to slow music. He didn't really know what to do for a moment there. Jamison held on to one of her hands and placed the other on her upper back as he thought that was what you were supposed. It wasn't in any was inappropriate for the occasion so Jamison hoped Meyghan would approve. He smiled at the music. It was good for the event and made the mood. Jamison very much approved. He was glad it wasn't anything dorky that you couldn't dance to. Jamison smiled at Meyghan. There was really a need for words, but after awhile Jamison felt as though he had to say something. "Having fun?" He asked calmly really not having anything else to day. He knew he was and Jamison hoped Meyghan felt the same. However, you never know. They continued to dance as Jamison awaited an answer from Meyghan.
