Harry was well aware that the ball was coming, but just he always thought he had time to get everything together. It wasn't until the ball was also here that he realized he hadn't found anyone to go with. Life was easier when he and Julie were together, things like dates for a ball weren't an issue. You always knew you had someone to go with when. Instead though, he had pushed Julie away, and he had no idea who to go with. The only person he could think of was Ginny. She was the only girl other than Hermione he knew he could have a good time with, and he could not believe when he asked her that she agreed. It was then that he realized he had a second problem though, as he had no idea who to go as. He had nothing to wear and no idea for a costume. Luckily though, with a bit of help form Hermione and some ideas from Ron, they managed to work his dress robes from a few years ago into a Robin Hood costume.
The night of the ball he was running late, and he ran down the stairs toward the Great Hall. He told Ginny that he would meet her there, by the doorway, and seeing as he was already nearly ten minutes late, he hoped that Ginny wasn't already there and had to wait for him.

Incongruous, odd, unusual: the list of words went on that described how Ginny Weasley was feeling at the moment, as she stood in front of a full length mirror examining her costume. Her reflection showed somebody who was entirely different. The person in the mirror looked like a true enchanted creature of the woods, not a Hogwarts student. Ginny was finding it hard to believe that the image in the mirror was actually what she looked like. She wore a long, light green sleeveless dress that flowed toward her knees. The fabric was made of a soft, light material, which made her feel like she wasn’t wearing anything but covered everything apparently. It appeared that Ginny looked barefoot but she wore clear slippers on her feet. Her long red hair that was usually worn down was all curled and puffy, almost as if she had just adventured off into the forest. To finish the costume a pair of bronze wings that shimmered under the light was placed on her back. Ginny wore barely any makeup or jewelry. After all Wood Nymphs didn't have any of those things.
Ginny started to have second thoughts as she sat down on her bed. Maybe this was too much for just a ball? An angel was the first idea Ginny wanted to be, but last year she dressed as an angel at the last Halloween Ball. So this year Ginny thought long and hard on what she wanted to be and a Wood Nymph came to mind. She had read in a book about the magical creature. They were said to be playful, tricky, and outgoing, which seemed to describe Ginny’s personality perfectly. Once she had the idea of what she was going to be all that was left was a date. Nobody had asked but soon later Harry had asked her. Ginny was slightly confused by his action. She thought that by now Harry would have probably gotten back together with Julie and go to the ball with her. But, Ginny was proven wrong, and now she was going to the ball with Harry.
A couple minutes had passed by and Ginny found her self heading toward The Great Hall where she was suppose to meet Harry. All different kinds of costumes floated around her as she caught a couple of eyes of some students. There were werewolves, fairies, vampires, mermaids, all kinds of different costumes students wore. Ginny still felt more out of place than ever, but tonight was Halloween and you were suppose to be something different. Well that’s what muggles did. They would parade around their neighborhoods and say, ‘Trick-or-treat’ and get candy. Ginny finally reached down the stairs and spotted the familiar messy jet black hair of Harry’s. Smiling to her self Ginny walked over toward him extending her arm to tap his shoulder. "Would it hurt to actually have your hair all neat and tidy instead of messy? But it's a good tool so I can spot you in crowds like these." Ginny said, a playful smile forming on her lips. She knew Harry wouldn't be offended on what she said.

He was there only for a minute or two when someone tapped his shoulder and he turned around to see Ginny, though it took him a moment to realize it was her. Ron's younger sister looked nothing like the young girl he always saw her as, and he couldn't decide if it was simply the costume or it took the costume to realize it. He was still a bit taken by the shock of the moment when he remembered that she maid a comment about his hair and almost instinctively he reached a hand up and tried to force down a few of the pieces that were sticking up. He smiled, slightly embarrassed, before it hit him that she was just being funny and the embarrassment faded. "I guess its good I didn't wear the hat that goes with the costume then, or else you wouldn't have been able to recognize me at all."
He glanced over Ginny's costume for a moment, trying to figure out exactly what she was, other than this suddenly grown up form of herself. "You look..." he tried to finish his sentence, but nothing would come. Every word that game to mind sounded worse than the next. Beautiful. Wonderful. "Great" he managed to choke out, and after wished he had gone with anything other than. Great didn't capture it at all.
He stood for a moment, trying to figure out exactly how he was suppose to go about asking her into the ball. He thought that he had gotten over this all last year, or the year before even, he had after all been going to balls since his fourth year, but it seemed every time there was a new girl he had to make a fool of himself all over again. He looked away from Ginny for a moment, and into the Great Hall where most of the school were already enjoying themselves. Going inside would be the next step. "So, do you want to go in now?"
