Maryn laughed at Leon's subject change. "I was a wreck my first day." She exclaimed. "I had no idea which house I would be sorted in. Except, I was sure it wasn't Slytherin. If I wasn't in Gryffindor, I would probably be in Ravenclaw." She said. Maryn had always loved to learn and read. She might seem like a nerd, but Maryn didn't care. She loved to learn interesting things that not many people knew. It made her feel smart and worth something. Even with her zest for knowledge, Maryn's parents still hated that she was in Gryffindor. They wanted her to be in Ravenclaw. "I remember, I was happy when I was sorted into Gryffindor." Maryn paused and looked and looked at Leon. "It might sound weird, but I just wanted to do something different and unexpected for once. My parents hated it, but I think that's why I love Gryffindor." She couldn't help but chuckle. "I guess I'm a little rebel. She smiled.
She laughed at Leon. "Oh, yes I've heard of those passages." Maryn laughed. "It is sort of scary seeing Filch pop out of places every now and then." She laughed again. "Maybe one day, we can go look for one." She said. Maryn loved finding new things. She loved the out of ordinary things. She looked at the big clock at the end of the room. It seemed the ball would be over in a little while. She looked at him curiously. "So, were you glad when you were sorted into Ravenclaw. Were you surprised?" She asked him nicely.

Maryn seemed so happy! Though Leon with a small smile. It was a great thing, and he could tell somehow that if he were ever down, she would be able to cheer him right up. She reminded him a little of Katie-May, his sister who could do just the same thing.
As she spoke Leon noticed the song changing, a new atmosphere set around the room. The song was fast and pretty at the same time, and several people had to sit down as they couldn’t keep the beat. As it went on a bit Leon began to slowly tap his fingers against the table top to the tune of the melody. He listened as Maryn spoke, smiling at her same view of Filch.
“Oh, I wasn’t all that surprised. My parents were both in Ravenclaw and I have been told so many times how it is ‘for me’. I suppose it is too! I love to learn, and blue is so my colour.” Leon grinned to himself at his own lame try at a joke. “I can see you’re made for Gryffindor, the colour looks great on you too!” Now Leon smiled. It was true what he said though. Maryn was bold and bouncy like Gryffies should be, and always happy of course. With a smile, Leon set his plate aside and spoke with a grin. “Shall we dance? I love this song- the tempo is excellent! I don’t mind if you don’t want to though; the beat is quite hard to keep.” He said it kindly, not meaning to offend. He knew many people who would take the words as an insult, though felt Maryn was not one of them.

Maryn laughed. "Yep, you seem to be an average Ravenclaw. Which would be smart, kind, and strong willed. Hmm. I'm that way too." She laughed. "My father was in Ravenclaw and my mother was in Hufflepuff. They would have preferred if I was in one of those houses. They don't particularly like the way Gryffindors live their lives." She sighed. Maryn would have to spend her entire Christmas holidays with people who didn't understand her. They didn't seem to want to. They knew how they wanted their daughter to be and Maryn was the exact opposite. She laughed again. "Yep, I love red. It's pretty much all I wear." She laughed. It was true Maryn had many pairs of jeans that she wore with her several red shirts. It was her favorite color and she just loved how it made her look and feel.
Maryn listened to the song change and asked if he wanted to dance. She laughed. "Sure, I can keep up with it. I'm a dancer." She explained. Maryn had been dancing since she was very young and she loved it dearly. Maryn smiled as she got up and was led onto the dance floor. Maryn loved the happy up-beat tempo and couldn't help but do a bit of her own moves. She laughed at herself so hard she tought she would burst. Maryn continued to dance her own little moves.

As they entered the misty floors and Maryn showed her skills, Leon laughed happily. Maryn was very fun to be around, and her dances were the funniest. Making a fool of himself Leon did the same, laughter bursting from his mouth as he danced. The floor was fairly empty now, and Leon did a couple of dances, not even caring that a few people were watching him, brow's raised.
Grinning, he slowed a little and caught hold of Maryn, spinning her round. He danced to the fast beat with smiling eyes, laughing with the speed and exhilaration of the dance. Several people he knew smiled at him, laughing along with him. He stopped spinning, standing close to Maryn but dancing all the while.
Now, Leon wasn't the worst dancer. He had had quite a few lessons and classes on the subject, and though he wasn't the best, he moved gracefully even with a fast dance like the current one playing in the hall. Although he felt he was making a fool of himself and dancing like a loon, he didn't look all that bad from the outside, and his non-caring way made him seem more confident than he was deep inside.
