Spencer didn't enjoy dressing up and looking pretty, in fact - it was one the many things that she greatly disliked. She was told that she had a natural beauty so she wore hardly any make-up, and she didn't try to look nice in clothes that would normally look like they were extremely old and ratty on any other person. It was just who she was and how she looked, there were times she really hated it because then it gave people the "right" to stare at her when she walked by them, or say things about her when she wasn't around. Spencer hated it every other day of the year, so she was certain it wasn't going to be any different tonight. The only difference tonight - was the fact that it was Halloween, and you didn't have to get all dressed up and pretty - you could just get dressed up. Then again, with who she wanted to be, just getting dressed up wouldn't work.
For this special night only - Spencer had done something magically to her hair. She had found a spell in a book that changed her hair a lighter shade of blond and added some silver highlights in it - so whichever way she turned her head, her hair would shine. Of course, it normally shined, but this made it look almost godly. Which was exactly what she was going for. Her skin had also been charmed to have silver glitter nearly painted on her - so she not only looked sparkley, but also a shade lighter. Her make-up, which she would normally not have on, consisted of light greys and blues. The eyeliner was heavy though, but covered up with lightly tinted grey eyeshadow and silver mascara. With her make-up and hair finished, she was just now working on her nails and jewelry. Her toenails were also a silvery colour with glittery stars on them, and her fingernails were artificial, giving her the look of sophistication. Her ears, which weren't normally pierced, had four holes in each ear. Each hole held a different type of earring. The first hole, the one in the lobe held a dangling earring that had many crystals in it, above that hole was a stud, that had a chain running up to the fourth earring, and third earring was just a moon.
With that finished, Spencer picked up her costume and held it up to her body as she looked in the mirror. The silverish grey blue fabric shined brilliantly in the light and she liked the feel of the soft fabric against her bare stomach. She gently slipped it on over her head - making sure not to mess anything up, and was soon fully clothed. The dress was off the shoulder, but it had sleeves that were nearly transparent but had moons crested in them. The gown was full length and seemed to frost at the ends. Stars and moonds were printed all over it, but lightly so unless you looked at it closely - you wouldn't notice them. She smiled at her reflection, she liked what she saw.
Next step was the silver tattoos of the crescent moon and a star. Over her heart on her left side, she skillfully drew the crescent moon - big enough for anyone to see. Then she took out her wand and magically made a star tattoo itself on her right shoulder blade. After that was through, Spencer lifted up her right foot and tapped it with her wand while muttering a spell that encased her foot in a transparent protective shielding so it would get neither trampled on nor dirty. She did the same to her left foot - and then stood up straight, "This year you've gone overboard, Spence." She told herself before breathing in and turning on her heel to leave the fifth year girl's dormitories. The common room was semi-busy with people making last minute arrangments, and dates blushing at each other. It sickened Spencer if only the least bit, and she rushed to get out of there.
She quickly climbed out of the portrait hole, and made her way down the hallways to the Great Hall where the Ball was held. Spencer slowed her pace after she was a good 3 minutes away from the common room, and began looking around the corridors at the portraits or the cabinets with things in them. Her feet were almost silent, except for the occasional scrape against her dress - which made a ruffling sound. BUt everything else was silent, and it sort of bothered Spencer but not too much. Finally she came to the last staircase and started down, when someone plowed into her - making her lose her balance having to grasp onto the railing which was rather large and hard to hold onto. She looked up at the person as she pulled herself up; "Are you running from something or do you normally knock into people like you just did?"
