Sipping, Sitting, Smiling... (absolutely anyone)

Perfect, Katie-May smiled as she looked deep into her mirror. Her outfit was perfect. Although she didn’t really have a ‘character’, she looked beautiful either way. Her entire body was swathed in pure white silk, which lay elegantly close to her skin. Her white-blonde long hair fell in glossy curls, ending in the centre of her back with stylish flicks. Her eyes were circled in sparkly silver shadow, and her lashes lined with blue mascara. The dress, which fell to her ankles, only just showed her shoes, which were pretty white sandals, the strap disappearing beside her biggest toe. Although she still looked her normal short self, she somehow seemed older and more mature. Beneath it all May was smiling happily, pleased with the outfit and her total image.

After a few more tweaks and twists, May turned away from her mirror and gazed around the room. Her dorm mates had already left, and May almost felt saddened. No one was there to see her amazing outfit! Smiling at the thought, she calmed herself and said in her mind; ‘they’ll see it later, don’t worry!’ and she bet they would. Once she had soothed her kitten back to sleep after sitting on her bed and waking him, May picked up her bag. It was gold and white, and hung on her shoulder with the main bag section by her hip. Inserting into it some coins, May left her dorm with a happy feeling.

She arrived at the doors of the Great Hall ten minutes later, having met a few friends on the way. Her face was flushed as she moved between the couples, a smile still set on her face. Stepping over the large threshold into the Hall, she gazed around in awe. The room was beautiful, absolutely beautiful. The floor was covered in a gorgeous white mist which caused a few people to stumble as they danced, as they couldn’t see their feet beneath the haze. Above the students heads, as high as the trees in the Forest outside, hung blazing jack-o-lanterns with glowing candles sparkling inside them and lighting the walls of the hall. Grinning as she noticed a few people, May slipped her slender hand out to a nearby tray, took a drink from the platter and sipped it as she walked to a ‘lounging’ area. Once there she sat down and watched people dance, waving and smiling at her brother and several others as she sat.

Mikayla was terribly nervous as she prepared for the ball. This would be her first dance. Even if she didn't have date she was nervous she didn't know if any of her friends were going. Mikayla started to put on her dress. It was a short dress. Not too short of course but it went to her knees. The dress was silky, light turquoise in color to bring out her eyes, and it had an earthy flow to it. She fastened the halter at the top. And placed her hair neatly on her shoulders. She had curled her hair in locks for the dance.

She slipped on her small strappy silver heels with a little diamond flower on the cross over on the toe. And she had to put on her make up. She was smart for her age and new not to apply too much make up with such a formal gown. She applied her light blue eyeshadow to her eyelids. And a glossy light pink finish to her lips. Mikayla didn't quite know what she was she just looked nice. "Before Mikayla left she got her silver mask with diamonds on the front that covered the out side of her eyes. "Ok, here we go..."Mikayla said to herself walking gracefully out the door.

She walked down the stairs to the ball. Apologizing to all the people she had to maneuver through. She was ready to get it over with. She just wanted to enter the room dance, and have fun. When she entered the room she saw a lot of people dancing and having fun. She couldn't really spot any of her friends. So she just looked around and waited. She didn't quite know if she was waiting to see her friends or if she was waiting for someone to talk to her.

After a while of waiting to even see some one Mikayla grew tired and thirsty. She walked over to a little table that had drink and snacks set up on it. Mikayla gently picked up a small glass of punch. She took a sip carefully as to not get anything on her dress. The drink was so refreshing. Mikayla now needed some where to sit and wait. She found a little area with chairs and tables and like two couches.

She then heard a slow song come on. She watched as all the couples headed out on to the dance floor and began dancing gracefully with big grins on their faces. It was enough to make Mikayla cry. It was so sweet. Mikayla imagined how one day it would be her up there dancing with her date. Mikayla looked away. She wanted to find some one to talk to. Then she spotted some one who looked so familiar.

She had a long white gown on. Mikayla looked closer. She had long white blond hair. Then Mikayla realized. "Katie- May!" Finally some one for Mikayla to talk to, that is if May didn't mind. Mikayla stood up and placed her cup on a nearby table and walked over to May. "Hey May!" Mikayla said excited to see her familiar face. "You look so gorgeous!" Mikayla said admiring her make up and gown. "Isn't this exciting!" Mikayla said referring to the dance. Mikayla sat down on a chair across from May and waited for a reply.

A voice behind her made May look round with an interested gaze. Her dress moved smoothly as she walked over to her friend and chose a seat nearer.
"Thanks Mikayla! You look beautiful. I love what you've done to your hair, same as me!" She smiled, flicking one of her white locks. "Almost, anyway. So, got a date?"

She questioned her friend with a friendly grin. Mikayla was in her house and year, and they got on well together. They ahd a lot in common- were both quite mad and random, and loved to just have fun. Keeping her smile, May gazed around the room again, sipping her drink. Several couples were dancing to the slow song, and Katie-May tried not to giggle as she noticed one step on his partner's toe, unable to see his feet in the mist. Setting her glass down as the couple retreating from the dance floor to the wall, so they could nurse to toe, May waited for Mikayla to answer.

May herself did not have a date- although her brother did, and she was very happy for him, as she knew the girl. Her smile staying, she thought about the dance. It was a very good idea- you got to meet so many new people, and May had a feeling almost everybody would be there. Watching the couple who had stepped aside from the floor hug and go back on, May smiled. Everyone was having fun!

Mikayla watched as May moved closer to her. "No, I don't have a date but its understandable this is my first dance and first year here at Hogwarts.." Mikayla said glancing over to watch as some of the younger couples were stumbling on their partners feet. "Isn't that a little dangerous?" Mikayla said referring to them not being able to see their feet. "Didn't your brother Leon bring Maryn as his date?" Mikayla asked because the new Maryn was quite infatuated with him. Mikayla new Maryn would have a good date because she is beautiful and outgoing. Mikayla looked back at May. "If you could've brought any guy to the ball who would it be?"


Mikayla watched May waiting for a response. She started to smile and giggle thinking about who Mikayla would want to bring. "Have you seen Danielle anywhere?" Mikayla said looking in a search for her friend. "She told me she was comming.." Mikayla said looking back once again at May.
