Oh, wish there really was a Kingdom of sweets Flo thought to herself as she got ready. She laced up her shoes, and looked in the mirror. She smiled and wondered if there was a kingdom of sweets. She couldn't think of any place that looked like it was made from candy. What was with all the candy anyway? Well, Flo was going to the Halloween ball, so there's something to do with candy. But, Flo was going as something else to do with candy. The Sugar Plum Fairy.
Flo loved her costume to pieces. He ballét shoes were very pretty and very delicious to look at. And her tutu was beautiful. A light pink one, which ended just to her knee. It had swirls and whirls, and colours to represent the candy. It was the same with her leotard. Flo had put her hair up in a bun, and had a silver crown, plastic of course. She wished it was real. Flo had also sprinkled glitter in her hair, and had put some on her face, just near the eyes. But who was Flo going with? Payton. Flo was very surprised when he asked her. She only knew him through his brother Dillon. Payton was supposed to go as the Toy Solder from Nutcracker. Flo thought of it. She had to admit, it was a really good idea, since Christmas was coming up, and Candy was basically what Halloween is for.
Flo smiled, and did a ballet move she was taught when she did Muggle classes. She grabbed her foot, and raised it to the air, making it look like she was doing the splits, but standing. She returned to both feet and smiled again, and ran to the Hufflepuff common room, waiting for the Solder to arrive.

He made his way down to the common room a bit before he was suppose to meet Flo, and me made himself comfortable leaning against one of the chairs near the fire. The last time they had spoken, they had picked this spot to meet, and also decided upon their costumes--she was going to be a Sugar Plum Fairy, and he was going to go as a Nutcracker. It had been her idea, but he had no reservations, so he wrote his sister that day and asked her to give him some ideas. He had to give Emma some credit, she figured out his costume exactly how the dancers in the play had theirs. He had a red jacket, complete with tails and brass buttons. He honestly liked the jackets, but the pants, which were white and far to tight for his comfort, took some getting use to. The staples, as Emma had called them, were paired with tall black boots, and a tall black hat. He also had a grey wig, thought he had opted against the beard and instead painted lines along his chin to mark where his a normal nutchackers mouth would have opened. He didn't really know the third year very well, but Dillion had come bounding back from their last quidditch practice saying that their captain had taken a new reserve player, and that during a chat about up up coming Halloween Ball, she said that she didn't have a date. As strange as it sounded, considering he hardly knew her name, he decided to offer to be her date for the dance. After all, Sethia had told him that she had to be away for that weekend to help her Aunt, so he didn't have a date either. He saw Flo coming into the common room not long after he got there and he walked over toward her. "Flo, you look enchanting." He flashed her a quick smile, both his eyebrows raising, a sure sign he was thinking something he had no intention of saying, and he gave her a very dramatic bow before pulling out a pink rose he had ticked up underneath his hat.

Flo looked at Payton. He looked amazing. Flo giggled at the lines on his chin. He really did look like the Nutcracker. His red jacket was exactly the Nutcrackers jacket. "Thank you." Flo said, as Payton said she looked enchanting. "You look amazing." Flo was still smiling as Payton made a bow. She giggled again, and curtsied. Flo looked t the rose that Payton gave her. It was very pretty, and matched her skirt perfectly."Shall we go?" Flo asked him.

He started to nod at her question before stopping and looking over her costume more closely. After a moment, his eyebrows raised, and a rather clever grin crossed his face. "I think there is one thing that should be done before we go...." The grin still on his face he reached into a pocket inside his jacket and pulled out his wand, and raised it, mumbling a short charm before, which caused her tiara to sparkle a soft pink. "Ah...much better. Now we are ready to go." Still grinning he turned to face the door, and held his arm our toward her.

Flo looked up at her now sparkling pink tiara. Well tried. She found it was very hard to look at something on top of her head. Flo raised her hand to the tiara, and took it off. She looked at it, and then looked at Payton. "Oh, it looks really pretty!! Thank you!" Flo said, then took his arm.
As they started to walk towards the Great Hall, Flo looked at Payton again. " You know,I actually know nothing about you." Flo told him. She then thought of something to ask him. "Do you have a favorite Quidditch team?" She asked finally.

He smiled at her question as they talked leisurely toward the Great Hall. He almost forgot that quidditch would be an obvious question. She had after all tried out for the reserve team. It was still, after seven years immersed int he wizarding world hard for him to imagine how important the game was to many witchs and wizards. But then his muggle brother was just as into football as their captain was into the game so perhaps he should just give up and fully embrace it.
"I'm afraid I'm a bit of a let down to the wizarding world when it comes to the game. I don't really follow it, other than the house team, but thats more house pride than anything. I think the main reason is because brooms and I don't get along in the slightest. The last time I had a run in with one, I found the ground to catch up with me very fast and it was not exactly an experience I wanted to give another go at." He grinned for a moment, his eyebrows raising at thoughts he was keeping to himself. "How about you though? Being a player yourself, there has to be a team you admire."

"Oh! Oh, i hope you weren't hurt," Flo said. The thought of someone plummeting towards the ground, was just horrifying. Flo was sorry to hear that he didn't like Qudditch very much. "Well, when I lived in Australia, The team I went for was the Thundelarra Thunderers, So i guess that I'm still a fan of theirs." Flo remembered the day she went to see a match, with her favorite team, and one of the chasers had gotten whacked in the head with a bludger. It was a very exciting day.
"Well then, If you don't like Quidditch, what sports do you like?" Flo asked Payton, still wanting to know a little more about him.

He let out an easy going laugh and shrugged at the through of him getting hurt. It hadn't been pleasant, but it had been far from all that painful. "Lets just say that Dillion tampered a bit with my broom in first year flying lessons. Ever since flying and I have not exactly gotten along. Its old news though. I follow the Huffie team from house pride and sibling loyalty, I follow football for the same reason. My eldest brother plays for his university. I have never been that focused on sports though. I'm afraid I lived directly in London, and my biggest sport was racing across the street with out colliding with a car." He grinned for a moment, then glanced over at her "So you lived in Australia? For how long? I ask because I lived there for a while too, when I was really young." His stride finally slowed, and he looked up to see that they reached the Great Hall, the entrance flowing with the light from inside, and music flooded the air. "I think were here."
Still grinning he stepped inside, and looked around at the colorfully dressed students. People seemed to have gone to some extremes with their costumes this year. Everyone's looked amazing. "Now...what first? Do you want a drink...to claim a table....we could jump right in and show these guys how one really dances." He contiued to work his way further into the room as he talked to Flo, who was till on his arm.

"You race across the street, without getting hit by a car.. sounds like fun!" Flo laughed. It sounded like something her brother would do. Come to think of it, where was her brother? Probably hiding in the common room Flo thought. " Yeah, I was born in Australia, but moved here when i was.." Flo thought. "Eight i think. I still go there to visit friends."
As they reached the Great Hall, Flo wondered what other students would be dressed as. They walked inside and Flo looked around. There were some students that had fabulous costumes, and others were...interesting. Payton asked what they should do, and Flo had no idea. "Hmm, lets.. look around, then we can decide on what to do." Flo looked at one of the students. A little first year, dressed as a hula girl. She looked so cute!

He smiled at she told him when she left Australia to move here and nodded. She spent much more time than he did there than he had. "I can understand why you go back to visit after living there so long. We moved there before Dillion and I turned one, we were born in the United States, and then, when Dillion and I were 5, after my Pop's wife passed away, we moved to London and we have been there ever since." He flashed her a bright smile after explaining his move to her, trying to tell her that she didn't need to worry about the fact one of his mum's had died of the fact he had spent part of his life on three different continents. Moving and new mom's were normal life in his family.
"Now, looking around seems to be a good idea. We can survey the territory." He flashed her another bright grin, his eyebrows lifting as he glanced around. "We can see who is here already."

Someone died? This was Flo's first thought when Payton explained why he was moving alot. But Flo was always like this. So cheery if everyone was ok and smiling, but crying with you, if you were sad, sometimes, even if she didn't know the person. But Flo cheered up as they looked around. The whole place looked perfect for Halloween. It was certainly spooky.
Flo looked around for anyone she knew. She saw someone she had met before, but they were busy dancing. "Hmm. See anyone you know?" Flo asked Payton. She looked at him and noticed he raised his eyebrows alot.

He glanced around the room when she asked if he saw anyone here that he knew. After being at Hogwarts as long as he had been, he knew most of the students, but there were a few inparticular that he was looking for. A grin broke out across his face when he saw the first person he had been looking for, and he leaned slightly toward Flo and pointed across the crowd at two people wearing very large green frog suits and crowns. "There, thats Dillion and Jordan. You know them both from Quidditch right? Or who they are at least. They are a frog prince and princess, or maybe king and queen. Anyway, something along those lines." He grinned again and glanced around again before he looked back a flow. "Do you see anyone?"

Flo smiled, and then giggled. "Theres a story or something like that isnt there? A muggle fairytale? I think I've read it." Flo wasn't sure if they had gone to the ball like that, but she guessed anyway, They were very good costumes. Flo looked around again. Then she spotted someone. In banages. Walking around with their arms raised half way through the air. Flo laughed again. "Well that, Is the one, the only, My brother, Tim." Flo laughed harder as she watched as he hit a wall. It didn't help if you put a bandage on front of your eyes. Flo could see he was knocking people over, and walking their way. Tim had pushed the bandage of his eye and onto his head. Flo knew that he had spotted her. Flo hid behind her hand still laughing. "Eugh!! Grr!!" Tim mumbled, and bumped into Flo. "Tim you idiot!" Flo cried at him. Tim grinned and started towards another person. Flo started to stop laughing as she turned towards Payton. "We are not related. Im telling you, he's adopted." Flo said, and started to laugh again.

He laughed and looked over at his brother for a moment, trying to recall all the muggle fairy tales his sisters still knew by heart. After a moment he glanced back at Flo. "I there there is one that involves a frog...but I think when you kissed him he turned into a handsome prince, or at least something alone those lines. I don't think Dillion wearing a frog costume and a crown counts as much of a handsome prince. He just likes frogs and wanted to wear a crown."
He laughed again, and looked in the direction Flo was referring to, as she pointed out her own brother. He smiled when he say that her brother was dressed as a mummy, and seemed less than careful when working his way around the room. He laughed again when he bumped into Flo and watched the boy leave them for a moment. "Siblings can be like that sometimes, can't they? You love them more than anything, and want to kill them with your own hands all at the same time."

Flo eyes lit up as Payton told her about how you love your siblings but want to kill them at the same time. It was excactly how Flo felt about her brother. "Yes!! Excactly!! I could kill him sometimes! but... He's my brother, and I have to love him, no matter what." Flo glanced over at her brother again, as he was about to bump into one of the Professors. "And yet, he still acts like an idiot!" Flo grinned. Then she looked over to Dillion again. "Well, Like I say, If the crown fits!" Flo looked around the room again. "So...now what?" She asked Payton. ((sorry it's short and that I took so long to reply. I hardly get to go on the computer anymore ))

He flashed her a bright smile when she eagerly agreed with his view on siblings. He considered himself an expert when it came to brothers and sisters, after all he had enough of them. "Only Dillion and I are wizards, but there are actually 11 of us...well, 11 who are actually blood related. My Mum and Pops took in a foster wizard, Rowen, not sure if you have fun into him at all. He is in Hufflepuff though."
He grinned again and glanced around when she asked him what he wanted to do. He thought for a moment, shifting his weight form foot to foot as he stood for a moment. "How about a drink?" Still grinning, he pulled out his wand and with a simple moving charm lifted two cups of punch off the refreshments table, which was a few meters away, and he caught them both in his hands and offered one to her. "We could dance after if you like. After all, Sugar Plum Fairies are quite the dancers."

"Wow, eleven? Your house must be really busy, living with eleven people. My house is noisy with just Tim and me. It's always, 'Mum she tripped me!' Or 'Dad, Tim let the oven on and now it's on fire!' But It never gets boring there." Flo smiled again. She watched as Payton get out his wand and brought up a couple of cups filled with punch. She took the cup that Payton had offered her, thanked him, and took a sip. It was really nice punch. Kind of fruity.
"Yes, Us Sugar Plum Fairies dance, But I thought that solders could only march?" She laughed a little and then adjusted her pink tiara. Flo looked at Payton, waiting for his explanation on why they marched. The Sugar Plum Fairies had beautiful long bendy legs, so they could dance perfectly. But Toy solders had wooden or tin legs, and didn't look like they could bend, or even sit down properly, without falling of the chair.
