Fiona stood on the platform alone. She looked at the other students saying goodbye to worried parents. She scoffed in disbelief. She thought it was ridiculous that the parents were so worried about their children. Besides most of them were probably half-breeds and mudbloods anyways. They certainly had what was coming to them. Fiona picked up Dottie's cat carrier and dragged her trunk behind her. She boarded the train and took off for her favorite compartment in the middle of the train. She quickly pulled the door open and bolted inside. She slammed the door behind her as she sat her cat down on the seat. She wasn't interested in dealing with half-breeds and mudbloods this year. Ever since her initiation into the Chosen she had begun to look on people with disrespect and she didn't care who they claimed to be they were never good enough for her.
Fiona picked up her trunk with difficulty and pushed it into the racks. She sighed with relief as she let go of it. Turning to Dottie she released her from the cage. The pureblood cat quickly exited the cage and ran the length of the compartment. Fiona smiled briefly as she placed the cage in the racks. She sat down and immediately her cat jumped on her lap. Fiona scratched Dottie behind the ears as she pulled out an old tattered book from her coat pocket. The book was small enough to fit in any space, but it was also delicate and so Fiona found herself hardly touching it in case she damaged it.
Fiona opened the book and looked at the familiar handwriting inside. The dates of over 30 years ago were written on the page and Fiona sighed as she looked at her father's old journal. After her meeting with Kadan she had flipped through his journal and realized that everything he had told her had been a lie. She shook her head of the thoughts as she began to read from where she left off last night.

"I'm going to be okay, Daddy. Really." Terra said breathlessly as he father squeezed her in a giant bear hug. She breathed freely when he let her down. "Of course. I forgot that my little girl has become quite the edicate....witch." he replied with a slight hesitation. He was a muggle and therefore never really understood how people could use sticks of wood for magic. He smiled down at her before stepping back to let Mother hug her. Her hug was short and she stepped back with glazed eyes, frosted over with hidden tears. "Be careful now. Promise?" she said softly so that Jerry, her husband, wouldn't hear the worry pulsing through her voice. "Of course. I promise." Terra said with a smile. She was direly worried about what Jennifer must be pining over too. The Death Eaters had attacked Diagon Alley and who knew what could be next? She shifted uneasily on the platform and watched her parents ease into the solid barrier. A sudden thought made a cold shiver run down her spine. Would she ever see them again? She refused to let such thoughts enter her mind but it kept coming back, slamming against the barriers she had set up around herself.
The compartments were filling by the time Terra had walked into the train. She looked around carefully before walking down, her anxiety rising as she found that most compartments were too full to allow her any entry. She was feeling particularly dreary and low, especially when she found the first empty compartment. A girl was inside whom Terra didn't know. That just added to the weight that was heavy on her small shoulders. Putting on a frozen smile, she walked into the compartment. Her trunk was so heavy that her arms were already felling quite heavy and leaden. She dragged it along behind her, entering far enough so she could reach back and close the door. She looked around slowly before shifting her brown eyes to the girl. She smiled again before tugging on her trunk and dropping it with a deafening thud on the ground.
"I'm Terra Carlson. I hope you don't mind if I sit. There's no more left open." she said with an apologetic smile. She tugged on her trunk once more but it proved very difficult to move. No matter how hard she tugged it would just feel like her arms were being ripped from their sockets. Why had she packed so much? Giving a small smile at the girls' way, she stopped with her struggle, letting her arms hang limply at her side. She turned to the girl again with a glare. Realizing that she wasn't about to help out, she whipped out her wand and waved it, muttering a spell to lift her trunk. "Wingardium Leviousa!" the trunk floated to the top and she directed it to the racks. Dropping it slowly, she sighed with satisfaction when it was safely out of her way.

Fiona raised her eyebrow at the girl that entered. She hadn't met her before, but she had seen her around. Fiona didn't smile or nod her head. She had been hoping to either run into friends or have the compartment to herself, but this girl had appeared out of no where. The girl introduced herself as Terra Carlson, Fiona slightly recognized the name, but not enough to figure out what house she was in. She wasn't even sure what year she was in. Fiona just sat and watched the girl who seemed angry at the fact that she wasn't going to help her with her trunk. It wasn't Fiona's fault that she had packed so much. Fiona had packed light enough so she could lift the trunk herself.
"I suppose you want my name?" Fiona asked with irritation as she scratched her cats ear. "Fiona O'Reilly," Fiona said as she looked the girl up and down. She was probably in the same year, but Fiona wasn't going to make any real guesses until she knew more about the girl. Fiona sat her father's journal next to her as she looked at the girl. She made sure the journal was out of sight, she didn't know what side this girl was on and she wasn't about to let information slip if the girl was fighting for the wrong side.

Terra bit her lip before sitting down in the seat beside the girl. She eyed her appearance carefully, looking at the red hair not unlike her own and her clothes. She seemed to be an irritable person. When she spoke her name it was with obvious annoyance. Was it really that tough for her to introduce herself to a stranger for the very first time? Although Terra had seen the girl in the vast corridors before, she had never quite put a name on her. She was like everyone else she saw, a face with no name. She had not been interested in her before until now. Her name, Fiona O'Reilly, sounded vaguely familiar but Terra didn't ask her what House she was in. It was rather apparent that they were in the same year but the Houses had to be different. Terra had always made a note to remember her House mates, mostly those in her year. She gave a slim smile but her eyes were etched with suspicion.
"That might explain why I told you my name," Terra replied coldly to Fiona. What did she think she was, acting so....uncaring? It didn't make a very good impression nor did it make Terra want to know her any better. Now that she had her trunk in here however, there was no real option of moving out again. She glared and crossed her arms over her stomach. Maybe Fiona was just have a bad day? She sighed when the silence continued. She spotted Fiona move a journal out of eye sight quickly. She raised and eyebrow and looked at Fiona with burrowed brows. It was positive that she didn't wish for her to see it but....curiousity kills the cat. Could it kill Terra too? She bit her lip and looked around for something to meet her eyes. The train jolted foreword and began moving quickly through the station, parents waving ecstatically. Terra watched until the flew out of sight before turning back to Fiona slowly.
"Do you mind telling me what that is?" Terra lifted her finger to point at the book but found that the girl must have moved it out of her sight. She let her hand down limply once more. "I mean, that notebook or journal? Whatever you had. I thought I saw something and....I'm just wondering....You don't have to tell me if you don't want." Terra added quickly, in case it was her secret journal or whatnot. Terra smiled hesitantly at her, careful not to show too much curiosity.

Fiona eyed the girl carefully. She obviously didn't recognize the name O'Reilly. It was an important name for those who knew the supporters of the Dark Lord. Of course there had been that article over summer break about the deaths of Fiona's parents. If the girl got the Daily Prophet she had to have read it. Fiona knew it had made front page news. The use of an unforgivable curse on her father by her mother and then her mothers suicide of the cliff next to her home. The Daily Prophet had a field day. They were heartless to the pain Fiona had been going through. They could barely be contained by the Ministry of Magic.
Fiona shook her head as she attempted to clear her mind of the tragic event. She had hated that day and the ones that had followed it. The train began to move and Fiona felt the familiar jerks as the train took off toward Hogwarts. Her eyes glanced to the window and she looked out at the buildings and homes that passed by in a blur. It was silent for a while before Terra spoke again. She was inquiring into the journal that Fiona had hid. "I don't know you well enough to tell you my personal life. Especially since you're not in my house and you're probably not even a pureblood," Fiona said harshly as she looked at the girl. Fiona had been like this her whole life. Always being mean and never accepting anyone. Not even other purebloods. Fiona had a heart of ice and only several people had gotten close enough to melt that heart. She didn't care if she hurt the girls feelings. If she would have asked anyone in proximity if she should sit with Fiona, they all would have probably told her 'no.' Fiona was known for her iciness to people and she didn't care. It made it so she was left alone. Alone in the dark was where she wanted to be and it was here that she would be able to find her power. Fiona glared at the girl before turning her eyes back to the window. At least the scenery was beautiful. She loved the aesthetics of England. So much nature and such beautiful landscape. Fiona's thoughts were interrupted again by a voice.

Terra shrugged at Fiona. "No, I'm not in you House, which I suppose is Slytherin? I'm in Ravenclaw, luckily. And, yes. I'm a half-blood, actually. My Mum's a witch and my Dad a muggle. It's not really that bad though." she eyed the girl with a glare. She felt the need to snap back at her..."It's probably better that I don't know about your personal life. I wouldn't want to drown in absolutely ridiculous problems that you sadistic folks dwell on." she instantly regretted what she had said to Fiona. That could hurt her and that was the last thing Terra wanted, although she had given it a shot. Her eyes widened slightly and she shook her head at Fiona wildly.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it. It just....slipped out." the apology came out quickly too, the words jumbling together slightly. Why was she apologizing to such a girl who had intentionally insulted her? She attempted to smile but it turned into a grimace. Why was she such an odd person? When she was with nice people, she was shy but with the mean and cruel....She would just snap back before even considering her thoughts. She had been considered for Hufflepuff by the Sorting Hat but with this attitude, did she really belong in any House? Terra looked away so Fiona wouldn't see her absolute confusion and regret. Instead, she busied herself with the window. Her curiosity, however, wasn't satisfied. It was like she was thirsty, so thirsty, and Fiona had given her a drop of water. Terra wanted more. The sensation of this crept up her neck and to her head, making her bite her lip in temptation. She trembled slightly before turning to the girl again.
"Sometimes it's better to talk about things that hurt," she said softly, her eyes glistening. What ever had happened to this girl made Terra feel pity for her. Maybe that was why she was so cold and heartless. Something had happened that had drastically changed her life as she knew it. Terra had never experienced something of the like but if this was the case for Fiona, maybe Terra could help her out some?

Fiona restrained a smile as Terra attempted an insult. The girl had some fire and Fiona liked that. She liked people who were able to fight back even if they weren't in the same league as her. This girl had a fiery spirit, but as soon as she apologized Fiona sulked inside. You never apologize and Fiona wasn't about to do it. She glared at the girl as she hid her thoughts from her. She was in Ravenclaw. The house of the extremely boring know-it-alls. Fiona thought they were all so boring and the only one she had even considered talking to had been a sixth year, who had a cousin in Slytherin that Fiona had met a couple times. She had a quick tongue as well and her insults were pretty good, that's why Fiona had liked her. That and the fact that it had been the day Fiona had finally be released from the Hospital Wing after the Diagon Alley attacks.
Fiona snapped back into reality and she eyed the girl. She seemed to be confused and Fiona wondered why. The girl hadn't said anything confusing unless her mind had been somewhere else rather than on the recent conversation. It wasn't long before Terra said something that Fiona nearly snarled at. "Sometimes it's better to talk about things that hurt," Terra said. Fiona realized that this girl was pitying her. She hated pity and this girl didn't even know her. "You don't know me. You know nothing about me. Don't pity me and for Merlin's sake don't ask me to share pain that you've never felt!" Fiona said with a growl. She was still hurting, but she would never share it with a complete stranger. She didn't know her and she couldn't trust her. There was no way she would let herself say anything about her past to a complete stranger. Fiona looked at the girl with eyes burning with rage. She wished she could do something, but she wouldn't risk it. Not with enemies all around her. Besides, the girl had potential. She just had to find the side that insulted people, rather than the side that apologizes. Fiona shook off the feeling of anger and looked at the girl. "Where do you live?" Fiona asked casually. She didn't really care, but if she was going to have company, she might as well get to know her enemies. 'Keep your friends close, your enemies closer,' Fiona thought to herself as she picked her cat up and placed her in the seat beside her. She then pulled her legs up onto the seat so she could sit cross-legged. She raised an eyebrow at the girl as she waited for her response.

Terra smiled slightly at Fiona, a hesitant and hopeful smile. What she said next, though, made the half-smile vanish. Fiona hadn't appreciated the apology. Instead, she seemed somewhat angry at her for it. It wasn't like she had been mean so why was she becoming so cold again? It was like she was closing herself away from the world but yet keeping her stride without stop. Terra slightly admired her for it. How could she just keep up with everything without showing the slightest emotion toward anything that bothered everyone else who was normal? This girl, Terra had realized with a fresh surge of pity, wasn't normal. She was without a heart. Moving her mind off the subject, Terra frowned as Fiona insulted her once again. When would she stop her tirade of insults and actually think about it?
"How do you know I never felt pain before? You shouldn't jump to conclusions, but I suppose it's in your blood?" Terra fired back. "Pure-bloods claim to be so good but they really are very nasty." she crossed her arms over her chest and glared at the wall above Fiona's head. She didn't feel like making any eye-contact at the moment, especially after what she had just said. Although the words had no heart in them, they could be cutting. She hadn't wanted to hurt Fiona so really the words had no edge to them. She wasn't like Slytherins, even if she was in a rage. It just wasn't Terra. She continued to glare until Fiona asked where she lives. Why was it that she wanted to know? After all, they were practically throwing insults at each other and now she was wondering where she lived. Terra's eyes narrowed suspiciously.
"I don't know you so why should I tell you?" she retorted, using the same phrase Fiona had used. She didn't feel like telling this girl where she lived. Maybe she would send someone on her family or something? She had heard horrible things about Slytherins but that didn't match anything that was said about their parents. She shivered at the thought. The lot of them mostly Death Eaters and the others, supporters of the dark cause. No one had been known to send someone after another but that could soon change, what with all the attacks and confusion. She looked at Fiona carefully, weighing whether or not to tell her. Finally, she decided to do something on a different track. "Where do you live?" she asked. After all, if the girl was going to ask her location, she should be willing to give Terra's hers'.

((Well since Maddie is a friend, right, and Fiona told me about this lovely thread, I decided that Maddie should make an appearance.))
Maddie took a look back at her mother, her father had been too busy with his work to come and wave his two daughters along to school. She smirked at her younger sister, as she struggled with her trunk. "Need some help there, little one?" she asked, raising her eyebrows at the girl, that was two years younger than herself. Paris shrugged, and gave a quick glare to her sister, before she hurried off. Maddie and Paris were sisters, of course, and they usually got along, but Maddie had been getting more and more annoyed with the girl lately, besides, it was the first day back to school, and she was feeling in more of a Slytherin mood than she usually was.
She carefully picked up her trunk, srtolling it up to the train. She looked up at the conductor, expectantly, with her eyebrows raised. The man finally realized what the girl was waiting for, and he took her trunk form her hands, and put it aboard the train. He then reached out his hand, for Madison to grab, so he could help her up. She pushed away his hand, while saying quite loudly, "I don't need your assistance anymore, you stupid man!" He looked a bit taken aback, but he probably dealed with many Slytherins like this, so he simply took his hand back, and waited for Madison to come aboard.
She gracefully picked herself up, onto the train, and she rejoined herself with her trunk, as she began to search for an empty compartment, or at least one that wasn't too crowded, and held worthy people to sit with. She came across many, that were already filled with cheerful little first years, and younger years, waiting and chatting for a quite exciting year. Maddie began to feel very mad at the younger children, and she finally came to a compartment, that she couldn't stand it anymore. She quickly slid open the door with a loud 'bang!' "Shut UP!" she yelled into the boys' and girls' faces. Making them all look stunned, as they watched as the older girl smirked with satisfaction, and headed out, making sure to close the door shut behind her, as hard as she possibly could, making the children jump with suprise.
She continued on, now, not hearing the sounds of excited chatter, from at least a few compartments. She finally came across one, that didn't seem too crowded. She peered inside and looked to see if she knew anyone inside. She noticed a friend of hers, Fion O'Rielly and a girl that she fantly reconized, and she had thought that she might have met the girl before. She slid open the compartment door, listening to the two girls talk and seem to be bickering a bit, for a few moments. "Hello there." she said casually, leaning herself against the wall of the compartment door, still holding it open with her other hand. "Hope I'm not interupted anything." she added, still in her casual tone, with a bit of a sarcastic hint.

Fiona watched as Terra took her insult to heart. The girl obviously needed a few lessons, but Fiona knew she would never master the skill of insults, especially since she was in Ravenclaw. They weren't worthy enough to be taught to insult, besides most probably wouldn't want to be taught anyway. Fiona smiled at Terra as she talked about feeling pain. "You don't know what real pain is. Try watching your parents die, then maybe you'd understand," Fiona said harshly. She didn't care if she had let some of her personal life slip. This girl didn't know what true pain was. "And about Slytherin's being nasty, I could have come up with a much better word than 'nasty.' Besides I take pride in my Slytherin nature. Knowing good and well that I am better than you; you should feel lucky you're still sitting here," Fiona said with a smirk. She couldn't help but torture the girl. She needed to take her mind off of the summer and she figured that this would be the perfect stress reliever. After all, she had walked right into the trap herself. Fiona had by no means seemed nice or willing to accept her company. Fiona was rather surprised that Terra had stayed this long. She figured the girl showed real resilience to her insults. Something that annoyed Fiona, but also intrigued her.
Fiona couldn't help but laugh when Terra used the same expression that she had been using earlier to block Terra's questions. "You're right I don't know you. You're probably lucky that I don't. But since I feel like answering your question, Ireland. It's where I grew up. And you?" Fiona asked with a half smile. She didn't really care where Terra lived, but it was a bit of conversation piece. Besides, they couldn't hurl insults at each other the entire time on this train ride. It would get old and Fiona wasn't in the mood for repetition. It seemed that if you make fun of one Ravenclaw, you make fun of all Ravenclaws. They were all alike and Fiona was tired of using the same insults over and over again. She eyed Terra quietly when she heard a voice at the compartment door.
Fiona quickly turned to see who it was and a smile crossed her face. "Maddie!" Fiona said brightly. Fiona hadn't even heard the compartment door slide open. It must have been when she had been insulting Terra. Fiona was glad that Maddie had been the one at the door. She didn't want it to be some Ravenclaw trying to get in on the insulting of a Slytherin. Fiona definitely wouldn't have been able to handle another one, but since it was Maddie, Fiona was quite pleased. Maddie had become a pretty good friend last school year and Fiona was interested to see how her summer had been. "You're not interrupting at all," Fiona said as she glanced back at Terra. 'This should make for an interesting trip,' Fiona thought to herself. Terra in the same compartment with two Slytherins. It would be somewhat challenging for Terra to get the best of them. "How was your break?" Fiona asked as she held on to her cat. She was afraid Dottie would bolt out of the compartment, however the cat was sitting quite still on the seat watching the girls. Fiona patted her cat on the head as she waited for Maddie's response, ignoring Terra almost completely.

Terra glared at Fiona but looked away as she said she didn't know what pain was. Maybe she didn't, but the girl had no right to accuse her of something! It had been the only thing she could have thought of and since Terra wasn't one to insult, it hadn't been very good either. She bit down on her lip and let the glare wash over her face when Fiona said quite frankly that her parents had died. Terra wanted to look at her, comfort her, but what would comfort a girl with no heart? Terra drew up a blank face instead and left it there, although Fiona's last comment made heat rush up around her neck and unto her face. She continued to look out the window at the beautiful scenery, not taking in any of it. Fiona then jumped to what Terra had said with a laugh. She still didn't look away from the window. She had no intention of looking at the girl.
"Dublin, Ireland. Hopefully we live across the country from one another." she said with a certain amount of anger. She bit her tongue, angry at herself for still insulting the girl. She had gone through so much pain and what was Terra doing? Insulting her! It was wrong and Terra knew it. But Slytherin didn't play by the rules, so why should she when surrounded by the likes? Terra frowned and made herself comfortable in the chair. It was silent for a few moments until a voice sounded somewhere near the compartment door. Terra recognized the voice, but only vaguely. She looked up to see a girl who Fiona called, Maddie. She watched the two and realized that they both had to be Slytherins; Fiona wouldn't look this happy with anyone else. Trying to remain calm, she looked away from the two of them. The site made her sick. Fiona was ignoring her, which was actually preferable then the insults. Terra remained quiet and waited to see if either one of them would talk to her. If not, she would ride silently for all she cared. But she wouldn't, however, move out of the compartment. That would be showing weakness and how Terra couldn't hold her own in front of two Slytherins. She felt like doing that but she knew that she would never be able to live with herself again. She would just sit here and hopefully ride out the storm.

Maddie raised her eyebrows at Fiona's rather cheerful greeting, but she shrugged soon after. Whether she liked to admit it or not, she was somewhat glad to be going back to Hogwarts. That meant getting away from her family, and even though her sister shared a common room with her, she didn't the dorm, and that was where Maddie usually hung around. She was also quite glad to be seeing her friends again, since she hadn't seem them in a while. Most of them she had seen over the summer, for a quick run-in, and then they would go about their seperate ways. Most importantly, to Maddie, was that she wouldn't be having endlessly dull days, like she had had during the summer. At least at Hogwarts, there was thing to do, classes to go to, children and other houses to pick on, and well, rather good feasts.
Going on the subject of feasts in her mind, she remember the Sorting Ceremony and beginning of the year feast. She wondered if the Slytherin pickings would actually be good this year, or those extremely unworthy children that were picked to be in the house of the great Salazar Slytherin. She drew herself out of her short thoughts, and turned to Fiona, still leaning against the compartment door. "Hello." she said again, this time to Fiona's greeting though. She picked her trunk up, from the hallway outside, since she had set it down, to open the door.
She silently strolled it into the compartment, and lifted it onto the luggage rack, with just a bit of diffeculty. She still wasn't used to doing that, since she only had to put her trunk up there twice each year. She sat down, looking up to the two girls, and replied to Fiona's question about her summer with, "Hmm... well extremely dull, you could say. That blasted sister of mine, doesn't seem to know her place yet." she said in a smug tone. "All in all though, I suppose it was OK. What about you?"
She had forgotten about the other girl for a couple of moments, and then turned back to her. "Madison Kenacheak, Slytherin fourth year." she introduced herself with her eyebrows raised. "And you are...?"

Fiona hid the conflicting emotions within her. Her summer had been hell. With her parents deaths and moving to London to being attacked by Death Eaters in Diagon Alley. Fiona didn't think there was anything worse than that, but she shrugged off her own thoughts. She wasn't going to let anyone see her as weak. She hated showing weakness and she was determined to fight it with everything she could. She was going to follow in her fathers footsteps and serve the Dark Lord someday; she needed every last ounce of strength she could muster. Fiona's face remained emotionless as she thought about her summer. She didn't want the others to think that she was depressed over the fact that her parents had died. She wanted them to see her as strong.
Fiona finally brought herself out of her own thoughts and looked at Maddie. As she shrugged she answered the question, "It could have been better." Fiona didn't want Terra to know about her summer, she wasn't to be trusted. A Ravenclaw could not possibly be trusted with what Fiona wanted to say. Terra seemed to be a goody goody and Fiona knew that those kind of people couldn't be trusted with anything. Besides, Terra was a half-breed. She wasn't worthy enough to have the company of Slytherins and she would realize that by the end of the train ride.
Fiona turned to look out the window while Maddie introduced herself to Terra. Fiona smiled to herself. Terra was in for a long ride. There was no way she would be able to handle two Slytherins, especially with her pathetic insults. Fiona had been doing those kind of insults when she was two years old. Her parents had been so proud. Fiona glanced at the trees that passed by the window. Everything was going by so quickly and Fiona couldn't wait until she was back at school. She wanted to start practicing magic again. She wished she was of age so she could use magic outside of school, but she had a few years to go.
Fiona shook her head as she realized that she had been day dreaming again. She tore her eyes away from the window and turned back to Maddie and Terra. Someone was talking and Fiona had barely registered the conversation. She forced her mind to listen instead of day dream and then she watched.

Terra continued to look out the window, hearing Fiona say something about her summer. She hadn't bothered to listen. It was like she was trying to distance herself from these two, although she was sitting across from them. She tried to keep her mind located on the scenery but it continued to wash past her thoughts that kept surfacing. She knew now, that Fiona's parents had died and she had watched. Even for someone so horribly sadistic, she must have been shocked and horrified. Terra was afraid to look Fiona in the eye now. Would she see that pity there and blow up again? Or would she do something worse? Something that involved more then words? She had no parents, no one to wait for her at the end of the year. Just these lustful friends who had their own problems on their hands and not anyone elses. That was what she got out of Slytherins and meeting these two hadn't changed anything a bit. Instead, it had made it possible worse. She would have to add no feelings to her list of Slytherins and their personalities. She looked up from the window when Maddie introduced herself as a Slytherin fourth year. Terra scoffed. Like she hadn't known that already.
"Terra Carlson, Ravenclaw fourth year. I would give you my hand to shake, but I wouldn't want you to be embarrassed in front of your friend here." Terra said with a smile that clearly showed she was not sincere. She watched the two of them for a moment before looking back at the window. She knew that she had a handful to deal with. Not just a handful though. Worse. She swallowed painfully hard but was determined not to show any of her fright to the girls'. That's just what they wanted to see and she was not going to fall for the trap. Instead she remained blank and pale, not really seeing anything with her glossy, dark brown eyes. She wondered why people like this actually had friends but didn't dwell too long on her thoughts. Fiona was oddly quiet too. It was odd. Terra would have been talking constantly if she was in Fiona's shoes. But she wasn't and she didn't want to be either. She was happy to just be Terra. She looked away from her for a long moment before turning back again. "You can go ahead and keep talking about the subject you lightly talked on. You know, your parents dying and all. I'm sure Madison won't tell anyone - if she doesn't already know. I'm sure you wouldn't make friends with people like that." Terra said with a note of smugness in her voice. "After all, you are perfect. It was too bad your parents could live up to your perfection, huh?" she snarled before realizing her insult. Instead of taking it back, though, she glared at Fiona, her eyes piercing hers.

Fiona's eyes blazed at Terra's comment. Standing quickly she ignored the cries of her cat and the scratches that were certainly bleeding. She pulled out her wand and pointed it at Terra. "I would not say such things if I were you!" Fiona said as she held her wand steady. She was furious on the inside. She wanted to curse the girl for her comment. "You obviously know nothing of pain and suffering, you filthy little half-breed! You should realize your place in society. You aren't even good enough to kiss the ground I walk on," Fiona said. She hoped the girl would give her another reason to curse her. She had so much built up aggression and she truly wanted to relieve some of it. She knew Terra was the perfect candidate, but she didn't want to get in trouble before school even started.
Fiona lowered her wand and sat back down. She had failed the test. She had risen to the girls pathetic attempts to insult her. Fiona eyed the girl as Dottie jumped back on her lap. "You're not worth my time or energy and certainly not my respect," Fiona said as a smile crossed her face. Whether she wanted to admit it or not the girl had done well on her last insult. She hadn't even apologized for it. It's probably what had made Fiona so angry, yet at the same time she couldn't help but start to like the girl on some level. She definitely was quick with her insults and that in itself did deserve some bases of respect, though Fiona would never show it.
Fiona eyed the girl with fire. She would have to duel her when she could. It would be interesting to see who was better. Fiona knew by all accounts that she probably knew worse spells than Terra did, but she didn't know how good Terra was at actual magic. If she was decent she would become a worthy enemy. Someone that Fiona would enjoy fighting with. She doubted it though. Not many could stand up against Fiona and those who did didn't know what they were getting themselves into.

Terra faced the girl with a face as white as parchment. She was always pale but now, she looked like a ghost. It was so unlike her to be doing this. Insulting others and then having a wand pointed at her very own face as a consequence. What had gotten into her, she was afraid to know. It was probably the fact that she was in a compartment with two rude and unfriendly Slytherins, and to protect dignity and pride from the flying insults, she had to retaliate someway. She knew this was the wrong way to retaliate but what is done is done, she reminded herself sternly, breathing freely when Fiona put her wand back down. Maddie had been unusually quiet through this all, but Terra felt no obligation to find out what was the reason. She kept her eyes on the floor, looking ashamed at herself. Being with Slytherins must have rubbed off on her somehow, which would make her feel contaminated for a long time. She felt the need to go wash but instead looked up at Fiona with the same blank eyes. Since Fiona didn't want to see pity, they showed none. Since she probably wouldn't welcome defiance they showed none. Instead, they remained blank and cold, with nothing sparkling their deep brown wells.
"You did use energy though," Terra pointed out before she could stop herself. "On my last comment, anyway." she mumbled, not looking at Fiona but instead at the ground that she was apparently too good to kiss. Not that she would want to kiss it. Terra wasn't a neat freak but kissing the compartment floor? Ugh! She pursed her lips but couldn't help but being slightly amused at Fiona. What she had said was amusing, however. How she thought Terra was like a rodent; disgusting, annoying and no better then something very low. She began to realize that it wasn't Fiona who was always like this. She had been brought up like this by her parents, who held these beliefs firm. But look where that got them? She wanted direly to point this out to her but held her tongue back. That would make things even worse. She was still not going to apologize but she wasn't going to add on to it either. That would make things even worse and Fiona might have used a curse this time. She sighed and tried to smile but it turned into a slight grimace. She decided that she had no desire to continue speaking so instead she looked back out the window for some interest or amusement. It seemed to her that the train was slowing down slightly but it might have just been her imagination. After all, she was hoping dearly that the ride would end soon.

Maddie watched, with raised eyebrows, in much amusement as Fiona and the girl went on. However, she felt it rather rude for Terra to say that Fiona hadn't experienced real pain before. Of course she had! Yes, Maddie knew about what happened, gossip goes around fast between Slytherins. Besides, Slytherins go through a lot of surrerfing and pain, the way it is, but they get used to it soon enough.
She watched as Fiona pulled her wand, and Maddie raised her eyebrows, unapprovingly. Really, she understood that Fiona was probably furious, and about ready to explode, with this girl's remarks, but as a Slytherin, she realy ought to contain herself. "Fiona, honestly, you know she's not worth it." she said, acting a bit as if she should know better, and she really should have. "If you curse or kill her, what are you going to gain from it? You might as well do it to somebody else, so it would actually be useful." she mused, looking from Terra, to Fiona, and laughing a bit to herself, inside at Terra's reaction to the wand being pointed at her. Honestly, she should have expected it. What else did she expect to get in exchange, while she was between two Slytherins, and insulting them for that fact, candy or something. I think not.
Maddie raised her eyebrows at Terra, as she still went on. "You know, I really wouldn't be talking right now. You know, I have a wand as well, and you know what they say, two wands are always better than one." she said, with a smirk, her eyebrows still raised. Really, she wouldn't have, and she was sure that the girl knew that she wouldn't either, because of Maddie's last statement. She would have loved to help Fiona curse the girl, but she knew that her comments on that were right, she wouldn't gain anything doing it, so there was really no point to.

Fiona nodded at Maddie's comment. "You're right. She's not worth it," Fiona sighed. It still didn't make her feel any better. Terra needed to be taught a lesson, but Fiona wasn't going to be the one to do it. Not yet at least. Fiona still held on tight to her wand as she sat in the seat. Her cat had already jumped back in her lap and was crying for attention. Fiona didn't even realize she was petting her cat as she stared out the window. Fiona was grateful that Maddie was on her side. She probably would have cursed the girl if Maddie hadn't really said anything. Of course, Fiona knew it would have been useless to do so. Somethings just weren't worth your time and this definitely wasn't.
Fiona turned back to look at the compartment. No one was talking and it seemed to have become rather uncomfortable. Fiona didn't mind it, but she didn't feel it was quite necessary either. She cleared her throat before she began to speak. "What classes are you taking?" Fiona asked no one is general. She didn't care who answered the question just as long as someone answered. Besides Terra was worth fighting. It was obvious the girl was weak and Fiona didn't feel Terra deserved to be placed on a level playing field. Only those who were truly worthy were placed on the field and on the same level as Fiona. There weren't too many that fell into that category.
Fiona continued to speak, because the silence was incredible. "I'll be taking the mandatory classes and probably Arithmecy or Ancient Runes," Fiona said with a shrug. She didn't really care which one it came down to. Either one was better than sitting in muggle studies. She didn't care to know anything about muggles and she definitely didn't want to take the class with mudbloods and half-breeds. She didn't know any pureblood to take the class. Besides it wasn't for Slytherins anyway. Fiona waited for Maddie or Terra to respond to her question about what classes they are taking.

Maddie looked up to Fiona, when she tried to break the endless silence the three were expeirciencing, by asking what classes they were planning on taking. Maddie raised her eyebrows, and shrugged, while replying, "Well for me, the mandatory classes, and probably only Ancient Runes. I was going to take Divination, because my mother is quite good at it, and she forced me to take it last year, but I personally hate that old bag, everybody knows she's a complete foony. Anyway, I slipped by this year, thankfully, so I'm not going to. And then, of course, I'm not going to take that Care of Magical Creatures, that oof is such a lousy professorm and I'd really rather not learn how to take care of creatures, since I really don't bloody darn care." she mused, making small talk with Fiona in pacticular.
She sighed, and turned to Terra. "So, what about you? Are you taking any classes that are worth knowing about?" she asked, with a smirk, and raised eyebrows.
((Sorry for the shortness on the post.))

Terra breathed freely and kept her eyes on the window, not taking in the different colors that were washing by. She tried to give an expression on her face but it didn't feel like she could even smile. Maddie then spoke up and with a smirk that Terra loathed with her entire heart. Trying to keep her cool, she paused from looking at the window to turn and glare at the girl. "I don't think two wands matter if they're held by the unable. My wand would amount much better then ten of yours or more. At least I can go through with my threats, when I do make them, instead of make threats just to scare and not to do. You Slytherins are like little mosquitoes that annoy people. One swat could squash them but if you leave them be, they'll just get to you even more. Maybe you two should try learning something besides insults in your lifetime." she commented with a satisfied smile. She shrugged it off and swiveled back to face the window with a smug look. Even if they thought it a small, stupid thing to say, to her it meant everything. It was exactly what she thought of them, except for the fact that this was a nice phrase of her thoughts. She didn't look away from the window when Fiona asked what classes they were taking and then Maddie asked the same thing. She raised an eyebrow; did they really have to say it twice?
"The mandatory, of course, and Care of Magical Creatures, Astronomy, Ancient Runes....I think that's it. Of course, Care of Magical Creatures is absolutely wonderful...." she said with emphasis. She just felt the need to say that, considering the Slytherins disagreed. She wanted to be unlike them in almost every way, and this was included. In Ravenclaw, though, Hagrid was more like a joke. He didn't teach very well and...well...what else was there to say? She looked away from the window quickly and looked straight ahead, not at Fiona but at the seat next to her. More like diagonally. "Is that worth your knowledge?" she spat, her face still as blank as a washboard. She didn't know why she was being so fool-hardy but it did something to you when you were in a compartment, alone, with two snarky Slytherins.
