Zeak was tired, both physically and mentally. He had never seen so much work in his life. The classes were getting harder and harder, with exam's on the way. Homework was becoming larger and larger and was taking more and more time to complete, and he was only in his first year. Imagine what this would be like in his seventh! On top of keeping up with all his classes Zeak also had one more challenge that the rest of the student's didn't even have to worry about. He was blind, and therefor also had to learn how to navigate the corridors based mostly on memory. Luckily he had a lot of experience with that and he managed to handle this quiet well, though he did lost from time to time. He sighed and tapped his finger on the table he was sitting at. He was inside the Gryffindor Common room. One of the windows was open, he could tell by the faint breeze that tickled his skin and the faint smell of fresh air. It smelt like it was a sunny and bright day outside, Spring was finally starting to rear its head. A day like this couldn't be spent just sitting there doing homework. It was time for a break.
Sliding back from the desk and standing up Zeak pawed for a second and soon located his walking stick leaning against the table and turned and exited the Common room. The hardest part about Hogwarts had always been the moving stairs. It had happened more than once that he had thought he was moving in the right direction only to get lost because the stairs had dropped him off in a completely different part of the castle. Once again, Zeak's experience had shown through and soon he had mastered the stairs. Tapping the stairs he nodded to himself, the stairs were pointed in the correct direction, for now. He began his way down. Once on the second floor stairs though they gave a bit of a lurch and began to move. Zeak sighed but remained calm. Feeling the shifting of air on his cheek he could tell the staircase was sliding to the right, which meant, he sighed, he'd have to backtrack to get back to the right path.
Once the stairs had been navigated it was easy for Zeak to traverse the corridor. It seemed most student's were either outside enjoying the day, or cooped up in their rooms doing homework. His stick tapped out in front, seeking out any obstacles that might be in his way. Like usual, there were none. Zeak found the door to the courtyard and pushed it opened and immediately felt the warm rays of the sun strike him and his spirits lifted immediately. Pausing at the door he allowed the sun to soak into him and let the fresh breeze of air blow past him. This wasn't a day to be stuck doing homework.
Stepping fully into the courtyard he allowed the door to swing shut behind him. A few steps and Zeak felt the hard concrete of a path beneath his shoes and knew exactly where it would lead. Following the path Zeak listened to the sounds around him. Birds chirping, the slight sound of the wind as it whistled around him. He loved nature, and always had. It was days like this that reminded exactly why and how much he loved it. His unseeing eyes closed themselves from behind his dark sunglasses as he enjoyed the smell and sound and feel of the surrounding scenery. Zeak's ears perched as a new sound hit his ears, the trickling sound of running water, the fountain. The fountain seemed like a perfect spot to sit and enjoy the afternoon. Stepping off the path Zeak followed the sound of the water and soon his stick tapped the edge of the fountain. Scanning with his hands he spotted a nice dry place to sit and sat down, leaning his stick against the fountain next to him and turning his face up to the sky, a smile splayed across his face as he allowed the sun's rays to soak into his face.

Sora walked outside into the bright sunshine. "Finaly done with that" he said loudly to himself. He pushed his brown hair behind an ear and ajusted his glasses. A small black cat meowed from around his feet.
"You want to see the sun to huh Luna?" he asked the cat grinning as she purred. He bent down and stroked her warm fur.
"Aha Luna your a spolied lump of fur but i love you" Sora scaned the grounds and say a face he didn't know. He looks kinda cute. Sora thought to himself as he walked down the steps and over to the fountain.
"Hi there" Sora said smiling his blue eyes twinkling "I'm Sora mind if I sit with you?" He asked flashing a cute little grin at him.

Zeak leaned back a little and allowed some of the spray coming from the fountain to sift onto his skin. The feel of the cool water on his warm skin felt like heaven in the bright and sunny day. Suddenly a new sound reached his ears and he straightened up once more and concentrated on it. Someone was walking toward him. The footsteps sounded quite clear in his mind. Zeak sat where he was and remained curious until the footsteps stopped right in front of him and a voice, not much older than himself sounded from in front of Zeak.
Zeak grinned, he definitely wouldn't mind a bit of company on a day like this. "Yea, of course you can." He said answering the boy and patting an open spot next to him. "My name is Zeak. Its nice to meet ya." Zeaks smile was warm and open as he followed the boy with his head. He wasn't able to see the boy, but he could follow his movements quite clearly. Just than a smaller sound hit sound. Zeak's ears perked and he strained to pick up the small sound.
It took him only a moment to recognize it. It was the sound of a cats purr. "It seems you have a follower." He said grinning and holding his hand out toward the cat. "Is it yours?"

Luna jumped up into Zeak's lap and curled up
"Ya it's my cat. Her names Luna" Sora said siting down next to Zeak.
"She seems to like you" Sora said smiling.
"I haven't seen you before what house are you in?" Sora asked as the water drifted down on his face

((Sorry about the delay. My computer was on the fritz))
Zeak jumped slightly as the cat leapt onto his lap and lay down. He eased down quickly though and grinned as he lay a hand across the feline and began to absently pet her. "Luna? Thats a cool name." Zeak said as he turned his face down toward the cat as he continued to pet it. His face turned back to face the boy next to him. "She seems like an affectionate animal."
Zeak was surprised by the boys next question. He was used to most people immediately figuring out his house by his dress. Something in the boys phrase struck Zeak as funny though and he began to chuckle. Zeak had something in common with this boy, for Zeak hadn't seen him around either. Although, Zeak really hadn't seen much of anyone around. After his chuckling fit died down Zeak again turned to the boy. "I'm a Gryffindor, first year. What about you?"

"I'm a hufflepuff First year" Sora said. He brushed some hair out of his eyes. "How are you like the school so far." Sora asked him. Luna jumped out of his lap and began to chase a butterfly around the court yard and begain running down to the lake. "LUNA" Sora yelled. "opps sorry. Hope i didn't hurt you ears. I know how importent they are since your blind. Come back here you silly cat" Sora called as luna walked back up and stared at him. "Oh ok here." Sora said grabing a treat from his pocket and putting it in Zeak's hand "Here you can feed her" Sora said smiling at him. "You're kinda cute" Sora said suddenly to Zeak.

Zeak grinned. "Fellow first year huh?" He leaned back slightly, stopping his petting of Luna to place his hands on the fountain to help balance him as he leaned back and turned his face up to the sky. He mulled over Sora's question for a few seconds. It had been a long year for him. With the ever pressing schoolwork, and attempting to find his way through the school. Zeak's year probably was a bit more difficult than others. "I'd have to say I've enjoyed my first year so far. This place is just so grand and magnificent. There have been some rough patches throughout the year. I've gotten lost many times in these halls, but I'm still here, and I will return next year, and the year after that, and the year after that." He laughed a little and kicked his legs a bit. "I'll prove that I can become a great wizard even though I'm blind, and I'll achieve it without any special treatment or special help."
He sighed and lowered his face toward the castle. "My only regret is that I'll never actually get to see the school. I always hear the other student's speak about how beautiful and magnificent the castle looks against the blue sky." Zeak grinned and chuckled a bit. "Thats one of my last memory's of sight. The blue sky. I've kept the memory fresh in my mind, its one of my favorites and I never want to loose it." Zeak drifted away for a moment until he realized what he was doing and shook his head clear of the depressing thoughts. "Sorry about that. I tend to ramble at times. How has your year been?"
Just than Zeak felt Luna leap from his lap. Zeak listened to her tiny footsteps disappear off into the distance but they were drowned out when Sora yelled after her. Normally the sound would have jarred his ears but not now. They were outside in a wide open space, not enclosed like inside the halls. Zeak grinned and waved his hand dismissively. "Don't worry about it. We are out in an open space. My ears are much more tolerant of loud noises outside." Zeak listened to the exchange curiously when he felt his hand being grabbed and something placed into his open palm. He turned his face curiously toward Sora but Sora quickly explained. Zeak grinned. "Oh, thanks." He leaned foreword and extended his hand toward Luna and soon felt her begin to eat the treat out of his hand.
Zeak chuckled at the feeling but turned a curious ear toward Sora at his next statement. He was surprised at the statement, having never really heard such a compliment from anyone, let alone another boy. Zeak straightened up once Luna was finished. "Thanks." He said to the Sora's statement. "I'm sure I can say the same for you, but...." Zeak pointed at his eyes and merely shrugged.

Sora giggled. "Thanks. Riku used to tell me i was cute." Sora said sadly shaking his head. "But ya the school looks nice but I'd rather rember the people here not the way the school looks." Sora said smiling. And if ya need it I can always help you. We may be from differnt classes but we still can help one an other." Sora said. His fingers keep touching the gold locket at his neck. "And being blinds not so bad but I know where your comeing from. If it's not to personal how did you become blind?" Sora asked curisole

Zeak grinned but did not the small tone of sadness in Sora's tone as he mentioned Riku. He knew there was some back story to this but Zeak did not want to pry. He nodded at Sora's next words for they were good ones. "Yea, me too. I hardly doubt that I'll ever forget the people I met here. The good and the bad ones." Zeak chuckled a bit. He sighed and shrugged, "But still, its a sight I would really like to see just once." Zeak realized he was turning back into depressing subjects and stopped himself before he started to rant once again.
Zeak smiled at Sora. "I'd appreciate any help. At least just for the little things. Until I get the hang of them myself." His mind couldn't help but travel to Potions. His worse and most feared class. Professor Snape cut him no slack at all in that class. The class also required precise measurements and cutting and grinding of the ingredients. Something Zeak wasn't so good at. Snape also seemed to enjoy making Zeak the demonstrator in all their activities.
Zeak cleared his mind off Potions class just in time to hear Sora's next question. Zeak turned his face up to the sky as his mind traveled back to that day. "I was about 3 years old when it happen. My older sister was 8 and my younger brother 1. We lived in America at the time. My father was an actor and was away on a movie. There was a fire, and through some electrical malfunction the detectors didn't go off. By the time my mom and sister woke up most of the house was on fire and they couldn't reach me or my brother." Zeak had only been three years old at the time, but he still could remember little bits of what happened in his life. He could never tell if it was because his memory was exceptionally good now that he was blind, or if everyone remembered things from that age.
"By the time the Firefighters reached me my body had already sustained much damage from the heat and smoke. The doctors managed to keep me alive and I suppose my will was strong enough to get me through alive, but in exchange I lost my vision. I guess my body just didn't have the strength to recover it." Zeak shrugged. That was the best way he could explain his blindness, he had just simply lost it.

"Wow. That's too bad. But you seem to get along just fine without it." Sora grined.
"Ya I'm in your potions class and you seem like you need a bit of help there. I'm not great at it but I'd like to help you. You seem like a nice kid." Sora said
"Your told me your story so i'll tell you mine. The reson i was sounded sad earlyer is that Riku was a boy i had a huge crush on. One day me and Riku were playing on the beach, i used to live on an island, and my sister Kairi was gathering fruit. Voldemorts men killed her and the rest of my village before they found me. Riku had gone to see what the yelling was about. The shot a spell at my heart and riku had come back and he pushed me out of the way and took the spell himself." Sora eyes begain to water and he held the neckless in his hand "After that there arms begain to burn i guess and they vanished. Riku was mortaly wonded. I held him as he died and he said that he loved me and asked that I kiss him so i did and he died in my arms as we kissed." Sora wiped his eyes. "That's all of my story." He said petting luna

Zeak smiled. "Thanks, I only need help with cutting and grinding the exact measurement of ingredients. Other than that I think I have the hang of it." He fell quiet and allowed Sora to tell him his story. Zeak turned his face toward the ground as Sora began and listened intently. It looked like Zeak wasn't the only one who had hardships early on in life. In fact it seemed like a lot of people here at Hogwarts had a sad story to tell. Once Sora's story was over Zeak remain quiet for a few moments as Sora's words fully sunk into him.
"I'm sorry that you had to go through something like that. I wish I could sympathize with you, but our stories are a bit to different for that." Zeak lifted his face to wards the sky and felt a soft breeze blow past. This breeze reminded him why he had come out here in the first place. It was time to stop dwelling on depressing subjects and enjoy the day for what it was. "Hey." Zeak said as he stood up, picking up his walking stick as he went.
"Lets stop dwelling on the past and dampening our spirits. Its a great day that doesn't deserve this." Zeak said all this with a smile to show he meant no insults in his words. "Lets go for a walk. What do ya say?"

"Sure I'd like that" Sora said standing up and strainging his cloths. He wiped his eyes with the back of his hand. "Luna go back and play in the castle please I'll be back at the dorm later" Sora told the cat. Luna meowed and rubed aginest his and Zeaks legs before running up the hill towreds the castle.
"Ya I'll help you grind and mesure ingretents if you'll help me with the rest. I'm not all that great at potions." Sora smiled at him.

Zeak grinned as Sora accepted his offer. He listened to the scraping sound of Sora's clothes as he stood up beside Zeak and waited patiently for him to give instructions to Luna. Zeak remarked Luna curiously as she rubbed against his legs and than ran off. It took her a moment to get out of earshot of Zeak. He couldn't help but chuckle. "Smart cat. I only wish my owl was that smart. He still hasn't figured out I'm blind so whenever he tries to land on my shoulder he only ends up scaring me and than colliding with my head." Zeak chuckled as he began to walk. He easily found the concrete of the path and began to walk along it, his stick tapping in front of him searching for any unseen obstacles.
"Thanks. Like I said I'll only need a little help. I'd prefer to do it myself. Its kind of a pet peeve of mine to be given special treatment just because I can't see." Zeak chuckled a little. "What people don't seem to understand is that with the loss of my eye's, I've gained a lot more. Better memory, better sense of smell, hearing, touch." Zeak sighed, breathing in a large lung full of the fresh air. "So I suppose applying simple logic, with my heightened senses, I believe I rank just about even with other people." Zeak laughed a little. The air suddenly grew a bit colder, this told Zeak that they were passing by a shadow, either a tree or a cloud covering up the sun. It took only a few more steps before the air warmed up once again.
"I'd be glad to help ya with anything you need help on. I may not be the best measurer." Zeak tapped his forehead. "But I am able to memorize most of the ingredients, instructions, and...." Zeak grinned. "My timing has never been off."

"You seem to have a funny owl. Luna's a pretty smart cat. I found her abondend in a gutter when she was small and I've trained her prtty well"
