“A la nanita nana nanita ella nanita ella, mi Niña tiene sueno bendito sea bendito sea.” Jordan sang lightly as she walked around the courtyard. It was night, the stars were shining, and her favourite Spanish lullaby reminded her of home so she figured she should sing it. It had snowed lightly, so her heeled boots dug into the snow softly. She wore a long black coat, a yellow scarf, and a white beret. It was snowing now and Jordan loved it. She held out her arms and lifted her head as she began to spin in a circle, “A la nanita nana nanita ella nanita ella, mi Niña tiene sueno bendito sea bendito sea.” A small smile was on her face and as Jordan broke out into the chorus, she dropped her arms and started into a slow tango. “Fuentecita que corre clara y Sonora. Ruiseñor que en la selva cantando llora. Calla mientras la cuna se balansea. A la nanita nana, nanita ella.” She continued to dance and sing on her own. Sure she had to improvise the dance steps a bit, but that wasn’t anything new. Jordan smiled to herself and kept her eyes closed as she danced. She liked to imagine she was someplace else, dancing with someone.
“A la nanita nana nanita ella nanita ella, mi Niña tiene sueno bendito sea bendito sea.” She figured she was alone, which was why she didn’t mind dancing and singing. Jordan wasn’t aware that a twelve year old was watching her. She didn’t become aware either. She continued to dance, that peaceful smile still on her face. Her beret had fallen off by now and she didn’t even realize it. Her brown hair spiraled around her as she twirled and stepped. When she stopped singing, she closed her dance and then sighed, breathing the fresh air. Jordan opened her eyes and did one last twirl before sitting down on the bench. She scooped up her beret and placed it back on her head. It was then she realized there was a twelve year old boy, for he confronted her. Jordan stifled a giggle, “Hello.”
((To the nanita grandma nanita she, nanita she
My girl has blessed sleep be, blessed be
To the nanita grandma nanita she, nanita she
My girl has blessed sleep be, blessed be
Fuentecita that covers egg white and it will sound
Nightingale that in the forest
Singing and it cries
He keeps silent meanwhile about the cradle balansea
To the nanita grandma nanita she
To the nanita grandma nanita she
Nanita she
My girl has blessed sleep
Be, blessed be))
