The sunset was approaching quickly. Kitty could tell because a faint pink was appearing on the horizon. Soon all the vibrant hues of orange, blue, purple, pink, red and others would mix, putting on a beautiful display. Kitty had every intention of being there when it happened, and she knew the perfect place to be at. The Courtyard. She had big plans for the place. Hopefully the water fountain would bubble and froth, making just enough noise to subtly remind her of where she was. Kitty liked the sound of water licking against the stone basin at the bottom of the fountain. It reminded her of home, for some odd reason. Plus, if she could somehow manage it, she could get it so that the sun rays reflected off the pool of water, making it gleam and dance. Yes, that would be wonderful! She brought a camera so she could capture the moment and show it off to all her friends. She would mail it too, straight to mum and dad. Dad would love to see it.
She had nearly jogged all the way to the Courtyard in her haste to make it there on time, and with relief she saw that she had plenty of time to prepare. Kitty tried kneeling down beside the fountain, but too many chairs and tables were in the way, not to mention people. She couldn't move it all at once, just for the sake of a picture, so with a heavy heart she retreated back to a chair. She tossed the picture on the table, letting it slide a little way across the smooth surface. She didn't need it anymore - who cares if it broke? Crossing her arms huffily, Kitty watched the crowd impassively. The noise was obnoxious but it proved to be just as contagious, and Kitty soon found herself wishing she could share her frustrations with someone else. She hadn't brought anyone with her though, being the greedy hogger that she was. She hadn't wanted to share the moment with anyone - just to show off her success. Sighing, she propped her elbow on the table, resting her head in her hand, and thought with a certain amount of sadness how much Dad would have liked that picture.
