Katy squeezed the ends of blond hair tight with a towel to keep from water hitting the floor. The yellow robe brushed against her soft skin as she took a seat down on the bed. The dorm room was pretty empty with the expectation with a few fifth years that were putting on last minutes ideas to their costumes. This Halloween Katy was going as Anthy Himemiya from Revolutionary Girl Uthena. Normally she went with a couple of friends who only talked about wanting to dance with boys the whole night. Katy never really minded it too much, but it still annoyed her that all they wanted to talk about was which girl was going out with which guy. These Halloween she wouldn’t be hanging out with them, but Myka. They were only going as friends and Katy knew that, but maybe she was already starting to get a crush on the older girl. She knew that nothing would happen between them. Myka wasn’t that kind of a girl and Katy didn’t want to do anything wrong to ruin the friendship they already had. She would rather be friends with the Ravenclaw than take it to the next level. After all, she had only just came out and wasn’t exactly ready for things like that. People were already starting to talk about her since she was hanging out with Myka. Katy really didn’t care what they thought anymore and people deserved to know the truth about her.
Shaking her head from side to side to chase the thoughts away, Katy opened up the advanced Charms book open. She needed the charm that changed hair color for the night. Over the past few weeks she had been reading the Magna that Myka had given her to read. It was quite interested and Himemiya seemed to be quite a bit like her. Expect for the whole Rose Bride thing. Picking up her wand from the beside table Katy stood up from the bed, not taking her eyes off from the book. With a flick of her wand, her blonde hair had dried instantly and was perfectly straight. That was a simple Charm she learned in class one day. The next challenge would be the coloring. Biting her lip, Katy flicked her wand in the circular motion and said the enchantments and before she knew it her hair turned a purple color. Smiling at the charm work she than turned the page again to one that change eye colors. Since Himemiya had green eyes and Katy had blue it wouldn’t work too well. Doing the same thing over from what she had done with the hair coloring, her eyes turned a beautiful shade of light green. Already Katy could see that she didn’t look anything like she had before. That was the point of Halloween though; to be someone who something that you weren’t.
Once Katy’s hair and eyes were done, she slipped off the robe and pulled on the gown over her body. The gown was a white color with red striped that went down both sides of the dress. It had a slit in the front which showed off Katy’s tan legs, but continued to flow out. This dress didn’t have any sleeves, and cut off at the top with a sort of royal tunic style. Katy loved how the dress made her body look. It fit perfectly and showed off all her best features. The last thing Katy needed to add was the crown. Setting it on top of her newly purple hair she picked her bangs to match Himemiya’s. Everything looked perfect. Pulling on nearby green hells, Katy added a little red sparkle to her forehead. With her outfit finally ready she left the common room to meet Myka. Katy’s hells clicked on the title floor as she made her way down the stairs. Turning the corner to the Great Hall, Katy already noticed that Myka was already waiting for her. Smiling, she made her way up to the older girl tapping her on the shoulder lightly. “Have you been waiting long my prince?” Katy teased her newly green eyes sparkling. This night was most defiantly going to be fun.

“My, my; is Mykaela Young actually going to a school function?” Myka spun on her heel, her half finished costume swirling out around her. The nerve of some people really rubbed her the wrong way. Leaning against the bathroom stall was a Slytherin sixth year, one Myka never cared to learn the name of. Myka was getting ready in the washroom, simply because she thought it would have caused less a commotion than if she got ready upstairs in the dormitories. Obviously, she was wrong. She forgot about the scum that could enter the bathroom. “Who are you going with Mykaela? Someone I know?” Myka glared fiercely at the Slytherin and kept a steady gaze on her as she walked around the wash basin, “I bet it’s that puppy dog Katy Hudson, a fifth year isn’t she? Going a bit below the well, are we now Myka?” OK, this girl was really starting to get on Myka’s last nerve. She really thought she could talk about people like they were the dirt beneath dirt when she really couldn’t. “It’s really pathetic, Mykaela. When you have to be the one to convert people into your…type of relationships.” Myka’s eyebrows rose so high they disappeared beneath her hair line.
“What would you know of relationships, Fillion? You can’t keep a guy to stay when you’re talking much less to do much more. Why don’t you go and bother someone who actually cares you’re in the room?” The girl stammered a bit and blinked, rather confused at Myka’s courage. Nevertheless, she backed off and walked out of the washroom with a ‘humph!’ Myka sighed and shook her head, how pathetic this school was. She pulled out her wand, charming her normally dark brown hair to be long and pink. She fixed her bangs into a heart shape, much like the manga image she was copying off of. Now her costume was complete. The black shirt flared at the bottom, having white ruffles underneath it. She wore a pair of red shorts that were rather short. The shirt was trimmed with gold and red, and on the shoulders there were pads and white slits, so when she twirled they flared out. She wore black boots, which was her own contribution, and had a rather real looking sword around her waist. She took one last look in the mirror and nodded, satisfied. Now that her costume was finished, she needed to work on Chu-Chu. The pink fluff ball waddled over to her and jumped. Myka laughed and waved her wand over it, charming it to be gray – have big ears with an earring through it, and a tail. She put a tie on it and called it Chu-Chu. Picking up Chu-Chu, she placed him on her shoulder and grabbed the white rose she had bought for Katy; who was going as Utena’s lover, Anthy Himemiya, the Rose Bride. Myka was Utena, one of her favourite manga heroines.
Myka made her way down to the giant double doors, where she was supposed to meet Katy. She wasn’t there long, however, when she felt a tap on her shoulder and heard a familiar voice asking her if she was waiting long. The word ‘prince’ was slipped in there and Myka couldn’t do anything but grin. “Not long at all,” she greeted, “I have two gifts for you, my Rose Bride.” And with a flourish – Myka produced the rose and bowed, making sure the pygmy puff was hidden by her hair. “Who am I challenging for your love tonight?”

Katy grinned as Myka bowed, holding out a beautiful white rose. Laughing softly she curtsied low, taking the flower in her hand. “Why thank you Ms. Uthena…” she began, twirling the stem between her thumb and pointer finger. The green stem glided smoothly between her fingers, leaving a rubbery feeling. “You really didn’t have to get me anything because now I feel bad for not getting a little gift for you.” Katy frowned briefly, her eyes not leaving the carnation that constantly keep moving between her fingers. Even if she did get Myka a gift, what would it be? Maybe it could one of those dueling rings that the duelist wore in the books. But where would she find a ring like that? An idea flashed through Katy’s mind as she looked up from the flower to Myka, her lips curling into a small smile. Snapping the rose stem in half, Katy took a step closer to Myka, pinning the rose to the small pocket on her costume. Perfect. “There. You can’t duel without the rose. After all, I think one of the house elves has been dropping hints,” Katy said her smile never leaving her lips. It wasn’t true. Katy stayed clear of the elves.
Laughing at her sudden outburst, Katy brushed aside a bang that was beginning to fall into her eyes. “Do you think that the maze will have anything too scary? I’m talking about full out people dressed up in scary costumes and coming after you with chain saws,” Katy gulped silently at the thought. She had only been in a haunted house when she was eight once and it scared the pants off of her. There would be people jumping out after a person whenever they walked by. That haunted house scarred her for life. Brushing one of the bangs aside again, Katy took a closer look at Myka’s costume. She truly did look like Uthena. Her hair was the right length and pink color with the adorable little heart shaped bangs that made Katy want to brush it aside. The black duelist outfit looked great on her friend. Her eyes glided across to the sword. Could that be real?
“But I’m serious. I’m very easily scared,” Katy finally got out her face turning slightly pink in color. She never really liked that side of her; the non-brave and heroine side. Myka fit that better than Katy could ever. “We should get going, but promise me you won’t ditch me once were inside…OK?”

Myka grinned and shook her head, the long pink hair still hiding the pygmy puff. Her eyes glittered as Katy said she hadn't gotten Myka anything. That was fine with her. She didn't like getting anything from people. She smiled again, "Don't worry about it, Katy-sama. 'Tis the prince who is to get the princess a gift, and not the other way around anyway." Her eyes sparkled once more and even more so when Katy pinned the rose in her pocket. When Myka had found that Katy had liked Utena, too, Myka was only moments away from planning her costume and the plans she had for the night. A small smile of secrecy crossed her lips and she looked away, so she wouldn't spill the events before they happened. When Katy started talking about the maze, Myka looked back at her and shrugged. She took the girl's arm and looped it through hers, leading the way down the halls to the dungeons.
"We don't have to go to the maze, you know, Katy-sama. We can go straight to the party." Myka looked sideways at Katy as she said this, wondering whether or not she would agree to it. Honestly, Myka didn't care whether or not they went through the maze first. She would rather not have to go through all those tasks, but it was a good way to earn house points and she had a feeling that seeing Katy frightened would be more amusing than just going to the after party. But Myka wouldn't do anything that Katy didn't feel like doing. And the sooner they got to the party, the sooner Myka could give Katy her next gift. They were silent for a bit and then they came upon the entrance to the maze. Myka turned to Katy, "So are we skipping the creepy maze, or are we going through?" She asked, anxious to get the evening started.

A soft smile began to curl on Katy's thin lips as Myka finished. The whole gift exchange thing was true. A handsome prince would always shower his beautiful princess in ravishing gifts. In return, the princess would give her love one a kiss on the check or maybe a gentle one on the lips. Either way both led to happiness for the couple. Was Katy ever going to get that? She was quite content on the status she was at already, but what would happen in the future? Her father’s plan of walking her down the isle with a man wasn't ever going to happen. Katy shook her head from side to side, her purple hair swing along. This was not the time to be having her hopeless romantic breakdown. She noticed a sly smile on Myka lips. It wasn't the kind of smile people gave when happy but when their up to something. With a raised eyebrow she was about to speak when the Ravenclaw linked elbows with her and headed down the hallway toward the Dudgeons.
When Myka broke the topic of the maze back up Katy felt a wave of relief rush through her. Thank goodness they didn't have to go through that maze. It probably wasn't all that scary to some people, but Katy was just this big old chicken. She could almost see herself with ugly grey feathers running around making that chicken shrieking noise. Easing the mental image from her mind, Katy turned back toward Myka. "I'm sure you would just love to see me scared out of my mind," she said, running her fingers through her hair. After all, Katy only did want to go to the party. When Myka said they could skip the maze completely she perked up calling out quickly, "Yes!" Realizing what she had done Katy cleared her throat. "I mean I want to skip the maze and go straight to the party. You wouldn't exactly want to be my friend if you saw me running around like a chicken with its head chopped off. Lead the way my dear prince."

Myka grinned, "Alright, you're wish is my command Rose Bride." She bowed once more, and then opened the door for Katy to enter before she did. The place was amazing. It was set up like a haunted house in the beginning, and there was a large door that led to the maze. Myka immediately fell in love with it. She loved the feeling she got once she stepped inside. She smiled softly at Katy as she looked around, and then seeing a sign that said "For those too chicken to enter the maze." Myka chuckled to herself as she led Katy over to the sign. They followed the path to the after party room and the moment they entered, Myka's eyes grew wide. It was a large ballroom, all decorated to be like a haunted house. There was music around them and it was nearly empty except for a few prefects here and there. Myka smiled and thought it was the perfect moment to do what she had planned. She didn't know how Katy would feel dancing with her with everyone there, but she figured the Prefects would keep it to themselves if they were the only ones who saw it.
"Katy-sama, would you give me the pleasure of this dance?" Myka held out her hand for Katy to take and then sent her a soft and happy smile. Hoping she would indeed accept the dance.

Katy’s lips turned into a smile as Myka held open the door for her. Mouthing a thank you to the older girl she stepped inside. The first thing she noticed was how the beginning of the maze was decorated. It looked exactly like a real haunted house. Nothing with fake blood on the walls or body parts, but had that scary, somber essence to it. It still goose bumps up her body, but it wasn’t just from how everything looked, but what would happen at the party. Katy turned her head around to look at Myka. She could tell that her friend was quite fascinated by how everything looked. Was Katy ruining this night for Myka by not going through the maze? Noticing the sign that read, “To those too chicken to enter,” Katy felt even bad with her self, but tried hard to not show it on her face. After all, Myka did say she didn’t mind skipping the whole maze. She followed next to Myka down the path, until they came upon a ballroom. A joyful grin came upon Katy’s lips as she looked around, her green eyes sparkling. Everything looked so great and real. Well it was magic and Hogwarts did go over the top with parties for its students
Hearing Myka ask her to dance, Katy snapped back to reality. Did she hear correctly? Watching as she held out her too her, Katy couldn’t help but grin. Nodding her head, Katy set her own hand on top of Myka’s. This was the first time she had ever danced with a girl period. “I would love a dance.”

Myka smiled wider and led Katy onto the dance floor, she twirled her around and then brought her to face her. Placing one hand on Katy's hip and the other holding up her right hand, Myka began to twirl her around the dance floor. But she stopped after three steps and feigned shock, "Oh, I almost forgot!" Myka pulled back her hair, and there stood the pygmy puff - sleeping. She scooped up the costumed Chu-Chu and set it on Katy's shoulder, "No Himemiya is complete without her Chu-Chu." As she said this, she flicked her wand , but out of sight so Katy couldn't see. And once more, she led Katy into a beautiful waltz. But this time they were dancing on a cloud of stars. It was a simple spell she had picked up her fifth year, and it was one she had thought would never come in handy. But tonight proved her wrong and she wondered how Katy would react to the sight. Maybe MYka was wrong in encouraging Katy, but she really did like hanging out with her and for some odd reason Katy's happiness was something that made Myka joyful.
"I thought you might appreciate the solitude of our dance before the crowd came in. When it starts getting crowded we can find a table and get some food if you wish." Myka smiled at her and continued to lead her across the starry dance floor.

Katy let Myka led her out to the dance floor net letting her eyes off of Myka’s. She knew there was nobody else around but prefects, and it was just a perfect time. If there were more people in the room she couldn’t probably have the courage to even dance. What is they whispered or assumed something false about them? Katy mentally sighed, was she ever going to be comfortable with being gay. Relaxing as Myka’s hand rested on her hip, Katy set her left hand on the girl’s shoulder. Her fingers went through the caresses of Myka’s and everything just seemed to be still. Katy didn’t think of anyone else, and for once she didn’t care what other people thought. They were only three steps into the waltz when Myka just stopped. Watching with curious eyes as Myka flipped her hair she gasped upon seeing the sleeping Chu-Chu. “It’s so adorable! All I want to do is just poke it little fat belly!” Katy squealed happily as the little pygmy puff was placed on her shoulder. Could this night get any better?
They resumed back into their positions for the waltz, but things around them started to change. Looking down at the ground, Katy’s breath almost stopped. On the ground was beginning to slowly become misty and was twinkling brightly. Were they really dancing on clouds of stars? Happiness surged through Katy’s body as she looked back up at Myka. “This night is just full of surprises,” she whispered, a smile never leaving her face. Why was Myka going through such extremes to make this night so special?
As they continued too dance more, and Katy was beginning to feel more and more comfortable. Dropping her hand from Myka’s shoulder, Katy twirled the older girl out from her than back so Myka’s back was facing her front. “I didn’t know you could dance so well,” she whispered slowly twirling the girl back out than back so they were both facing each other. “Now, are there any more surprises that I should be warned of?”

Myka merely smiled at Katy's happy words. When the girl twirled her out, Myka moved swiftly and returned into Katy's arms. She continued to hold her posture as she led Katy across the floor, their steps matching the beat of the music. Katy asked if there were any other surprises she had planned and Myka smiled, and then shrugged. "Well, I'm not sure. None that I have planned. But life is full of little surprises." Her eyes sparked as she said this and led Katy into the final steps of the dance. Finishing with a small dip, Myka looked up to see some students standing in the door. Myka smirked at them and pulled Katy back up and twirled her out. She bowed after she brought both of her feet together. She kissed Katy's hand gently and smiled, leading her over to the punch bowl. The starry dance floor had disappeared by now, the magic was gone. Just from the dance floor, though. The magic in the air still hung above them, it was thick and Myka could feel it when she breathed in. Myka dipped the ladel into the large crystal bowl that held a greenish liquid with fruit floating around in it. She filled a small punch glass for Katy and then one for herself.
Laughter reached Myka's ears and she looked up quickly, her gaze locking on a group of girls who were laughing and looking at them. Some were even whispering to each other's ears. Myka glared at them and cupped Katy's elbow in her hand, leading her to an empty table in a far corner. She wondered how Katy was feeling about everything. She thought she felt some discomfort coming from the younger girl, but Myka couldn't be sure. She sent Katy a reassuring smile and sat down at the table which had a lovely centerpiece in the center. It was a skull with a candle in it. The candle was burning brightly, and it sent an orange glow across the center of the table. She looked around the room and sighed, her attention slowly returning to Katy. "I'm getting rather hungry. I wonder if they'll have the food set out in a buffet style, or if it's like our meals at school where they just appear on your table." Myka rapped her knuckles on the table after she said that and the food appeared in front of them. She smiled, and wiggled her fingers, "I have magic in my hands."

Katy's blue eyes closed as Myka led her gracefully over the starry dance floor. She felt so comfortable around this girl. Myka was the only girl who could look past her disguise and see her she was. Normally, people were to busy wrapped up in their own lives to even notice. Not even her own father and brother. A smile curled onto Katy's lips as she heard Myka speak about life being filled with little surprises. Opening her eyes, Katy wondered if she should ask Myka why she made this night so special for her. After all, she was a year younger than her and of different blood background. When the song ended with Myka dipping her, Katy felt sad. She didn't want to stop dancing. Twirling back out and smiling as Myka kissed her hand, Katy curtsied politely, dropping her head. "We should dance more often where people can't just suddenly barge in and the stars are always shinning brightly."
She was soon led over toward the punch bowl where she was handed a cup. More and more students were pilling in, talking in rushed excited tunes about the mazes. Picking up the small Chu-Chu from her shoulders, Katy held the pygmy puff close as giggles could be heard from across the room. Looking in the direction of the sound she watched as a group of girl gossip. What were exactly saying about them? Katy wished she was the kind of person who really didn't care what others thought, but she wasn't. What other thought seemed to somewhat matter too her. Feeling a hand grab her elbow, Katy followed closely behind Myka toward a table and sat down. Putting the girls words in the back of her mind, Katy set the small pygmy puff on the table. "Can I ask you a question Myka?" Katy asked as she poked Chu-Chu's stomach lightly to stop it from snoring. "Why did you make this night so special for me? I mean....I love it....I'm just curious...You know what they say. Curiosity killed the cat."
Laughing as the Chu-Chu began to waddle toward Myka, Katy looked at Myka in the eye. "Another question I would like you to answer is about your home life. Parents…siblings…stuff like that.”

Myka picked up a weird looking meat thing and sniffed it before taking a tiny bite. She nodded her head in approval and took another bite, this time bigger. When Katy spoke, asking if she could ask a question. Myka raised her eyebrow and nodded before taking a gulp of her punch. It tasted like lime. Katy then went on to ask why Myka was making this night so special. Myka sat there a moment, contemplating the question. She wasn't quite sure herself. All she knew was she wanted this night to be magical for Katy. Maybe it was because she knew what was in store for the girl. She knew that from this moment on, Katy would have to deal with rumors, ridicule, bad looks, and judgement. That wouldn't be all either. But could that really be the reason? Or was there more to it? Myka sighed and nibbled on a biscuit while watching Chu-Chu waddle over toward her, "I figured you deserve one magical night in the midst of all the dull and mundane ones." So maybe it was a lie, but maybe it wasn't. Myka wasn't sure. She was sure that she didn't want to tell her the ridicule reason. She didn't want to frighten the poor girl.
"As for the next question, I'll tell you as much as I can. I'm an only child. And my parents are stuck up snobs. They're purebloods and they're very wealthy. They don't know I'm gay. They probably never will. They have no reason to know. I don't bring my girlfriends home to them and I probably never will. I don't think they'd understand... you know? As much as I'd like them to. I don't think they would. They don't get anything that isn't what they've been raised with. All they understand is what they want to understand. They were both Slytherins, you know. It came as a huge disappointment when I was sorted into Ravenclaw." Myka smirked sadly, "But I wouldn't want to be in any other house, and they didn't understand why I wasn't pissed off."

Katy looked back down at the table, her blue eyes staring at all the different kinds of food. There was silence between the two as Myka thought about how to respond. Scoping up something that seemed to look like green slim, she put a tiny bit on her plate. The food seemed to seem like mashed potatoes or even applesauce. Picking up the spoon next to he plate, she took a small taste, staring off into space expecting it to taste like some kind of nasty rotten old food. To Katy's surprise it tasted quite fine. Getting ready to pile more food on top of the plate, Katy looked up as Myka answered her first question. A small smile appeared on her face as she returned back to piling her plate up with food. It was almost a mound when she finally replied. "No one has really ever done anything like what you did for me...well I mean someone who was just only a friend," Katy spoke watching as the pygmy puff began to put its tongue in its nose. Chu-Chu never did that. Poking it in the stomach again so that it gave out a giggle, Katy laughed herself. "I think we should invent or find some real Chu-Chu. It would become the biggest fashion rave in the entire magical world. I can just see it now; everyone walking around in the streets with a fat blob on their shoulder eating their hair because it's hungry."
Poking at something on her plate that looked like a pair of eyeballs, Katy face wrinkled up in disgust. "What is half of this food suppose to resemble? It looks like were all zombies eating people alive," Katy said laughing as she began to dig in. She listened to everything Myka had to say about her life. Katy wanted to get to know this older girl more on a personal level than just, 'oh hey she's just another person like me' Taking a sip of the punch, Katy set the cup down on the table. "If you ever thought about telling your parents that you were gay...how would you? Would you just flat out tell them that you are gay or just write them something?" Katy asked watching as Chu-Chu began to waddle dangerously over the table's edge. "Next question. What kind of hobbies do you like?"
Gasping as Chu-Chu almost fell off the table, Katy quickly scoped the ball of fluff back up in her arms. "I think we need to get this fellow here a leash." Katy smiled as she set the pygmy puff back down on the table. "Would you rather dance in the pouring ran or in your bedroom in just your night clothes?" Katy asked with a smile.

Myka laughed at the idea of a Chu-chu on every shoulder eating the person’s hair. “No, because then it wouldn’t be as special.” She smiled wistfully, “Though it would be alright if we got one each and then there weren’t anymore. Because then it would still mean something to us. If it became a fashion statement, everyone would want just because they were fashionable.” Myka didn’t want something as cute as Chu-chu to become an item of fashion and greed. Again, she laughed out loud at something Katy said; this time about the food. She peered down at her own plate of food and shrugged before leaning over and whispering, “I think that’s the point.” She winked and then picked up a grape that resembled an eyeball and put it into her mouth.
Her question nearly struck Myka dumb. How would she tell her parents she was gay? Myka chewed on her tongue a bit and then shrugged, “I’d write them a song?” She smiled, trying to lighten the question and then seriously thought about an answer. “I think I would tell them straight out. There’s nothing better than just learning it straight out. My parents would appreciate my honesty, I’m sure.” At that, Myka smirked and took a sip of her punch while eying Katy who was watching Chu-chu. Myka tilted her head as Katy asked yet another question, and she thought about an answer to that as well. “Hobbies? I don’t think I have any. I guess I like to read. I like to read plays and dissect them, and find out the meanings behind them. I also like to read manga and watch anime that has meaning.” She smiled, knowing that Katy would understand what she meant by that.
“Rain.” Myka answered, her eyes locked on Katy’s. “Dancing in the rain is much more fun than dancing in your room. It makes for adventure. I love adventure.”
