Rayne sighed it was 2 am and she was still not remotely tired. It had been weeks since she'd had a proper nights sleep. Most people would be exhausted and have no troubles sleeping what so ever. Not Rayne she was just as awake as if she'd slept 12 hours the night before. She had tried everything she could think of she had gone walking she had tried laying down and counting sheep, she even tried drinking warm milk, which tasted disguting, and so far nothing had worked. So she had decided to do the only thing she could think of. She was going to the room of requirements.
Rayne peeked out around the corner. She would hate to get detention because she was caught by Filch and his cat sneaking around at 2 in the morning. No if she was going to get detention it was going to be because she had cursed Rachel to high heaven. Luckily for her it seemed like Filch and his cronie were off terrorizing some other lucky student. Rayne made her way to the Room of Requirement in relative peace. She'd bumped into one second year along the way but he was so scared of getting yelled at by her he'd run off before Rayne could say a word. Once at the room Rayne pushed open the door and entered.
There wasn't much to see in the room it was pretty bare. Along the walls there were comfy chairs and pillows and the sort as well as a table lined with beverages of all sorts. The middle of the floor was a hard wood floor completely bare. It looked like a room made for dancing and that's exactly what it was. Rayne smiled it was perfect.
Rayne opened her knapsack and took out a rectangular metal box. It was the best thing she'd ever recieved from her Grandfather. It was his version of a muggle radio. Only it was enchanted to play her favorite songs. She chose a song by a muggle band called Deceptions off of the album Music from the Succubus club. It was a very pretty song that combined American rock music with violins and other classical sounding instruments.
Rayne closed her eyes and let the music flow through her. She didn't open her eyes as she started to move. She started out slow just like the music. As it got techno she moved her body faster to the beat. She loved the sound of the music and how great she felt when she moved to the beat. Once the violin solo hit she let herself go. She forgot about everything she had been worrying about lately. She forgot about how tired she was and how much more tired she should be. She surrendered herself to the music and forgot about everything but the beat.

Rachel walked down the deserted halls, not caring if she was caught. She wasn't at all tired, and needed something to distract her from the thoughts kept her awake. The awful, disgusting thoughts that wouldn't leave her alone. Rachel kept walking, enjoying the sound of her shoes across the floor. They were predictable, and she found it comforting. Suddenly she thought she heard music coming from nowhere. Raising her eyebrows, she realised she must be near the Room of Requirements, and someone else was there. Glancing back down the hall, she quickly decided to enter. Nothing could be more boring than walking the halls.
As she entered, a smile formed across Rachel's lips as she watched a student move to the music. Her back was to Rachel, but she looked familiar. "Practising dance moves, are we?" She called sweetly, biting her lip in amusement. In her opinion, this girl wasn't a very good dancer. Then she suddenly realised who it was. She sighed, rolling her eyes. Of all the pathetic people... "Oh. It's you."

Vlads head turned to one side as it pressed against the hard top of the grand piano, he'd fallen asleep on it, again! Playing his fingers to the bone he must have dozed off from exhaustion, it must have been the middle of the night, Vlad loved the night.
He sat up on the small polished stool, and let out a small stretching groan, as someone recovering from a nap often does. Collecting himself and trying to make sure he remembered all the important things he'd been working on with his music, he slowly came around.
Almost like a ghost in the night, he heard the faint strains of a violin in the room next door, the room of requirements. The song was fairly melancholy, and it was soon accompanied by a more rock based line up, with some distorted guitars and a man singing. Vlad was a little scared, a little intrigued, and decided to go and investigate. As you know, he was fond of these types of random encounters, they made the place feel alive and were what life was all about, really great stuff happening that you couldn't have predicted in a million years. Ofcourse, it could also lead to him being dead, or in a lot of trouble, but he'd take his chances. He always took his chances.
He left the room and turned right, approached the room of requirements where the song grew louder and he could define more of it. It was kind of relaxing but with a pulse at the same time, it suited Hogwarts. Poking his head through the door he observed Rayne on her own in the centre of the room, on the wooden part of the floor. She looked lost in herself and the music, her eyes were closed and her hair draped her shoulders just as Vlad liked. She looked so relaxed on her own and he couldn't find a flaw about the scene, besides the fact that if she spotted him now he'd seem like a right old pervert just staring at her from the shadows. He decided to do the polite thing, which was to just exit and go to bed. She wasn't in any kind of trouble, and she might even be self conscious about being so expressive in other peoples company. Vlad never got that about girls, even the perfect ones were self conscious about something, and don't even bother trying to convince them otherwise, just don't.
He turned back into the corridor, as he did this his jacket tails caught the candlestick, which luckily wasnt lit, and he pulled it over along with the candle causing a huge 'thud'. He was hidden by the shadows, but he just sort of froze and closed his eyes with a grimace, since now he'd have some explaining to do.

Rayne heard someone speak before the song was ended but she refused to stop till she was ready. Finally the song ended and Rayne pushed the hair out of her eyes. Looking around to find the source of the disturbance her eyes fell on Rachel Mason. Her recent school enemy. She really wasn't sure what she had done to piss this girl off but apparently she had done something horrible as this was their third encounter and each encounter had ended badly. Rayne didn't want this or need it she decided she was just going to ignore her until Rachel either went away or pushed her into being agressive.
Rayne didn't even say anything to her as she turned back to her box. Suddenly she heard a thump. Rayne prayed to the goddess that either Rachel had left or died. Feeling bad for thinking the latter she revoked it and hoped she had just left. Even better then Rachel leaving she saw her friend and possible love interest Vlad trying to leave.
Rayne sighed and with a thought a bubble appeared virtually splitting the room in half. She was on one side of the room and Rachel on the other. Now no one could get in and bother her unless she wanted it. Almost immediately a door appeared and Rayne stepped out of the bubble. She walked past Rachel took Vlad's hand and lead him into the bubble. Before she sealed herself and Vlad in she turned to Rachel. "I don't want to fight with you love." She said then she walked in after Vlad and sealed it tight around them. She would deal with Rachel another day.

Rachel watched Rayne in amusement as she made a bubble to separate them, and led Vlad into her bubble. Rachel walked out of hers and faced them. "Oh my goodness, Rayne. Do you really think I came here because I thought you were in here, and wanted to fight with you? And you thought I was the arrogant one. I'm not in the mood for you or Vlad and your little dance party," she said, looking at Rayne sympathetically. She then sat down in her corner and took out her journal and wrote a quick entry. Rayne was so annoying, and just generally awful. But she wasn't going to leave - not even now that Vlad had entered. This was her school too, even more so than Rayne's, and she was not going to let a little pathetic girl like Rayne kick her out of her room.
"Don't mind me, kiddies," she called, going back into her bubble and settling down to make herself more comfortable.
((she says this before Vlad and Rayne actually reach the bubble, so I'm pretending they hear her lol))

The bubble was interesting and Vlad was just kind of running along with how things were going since he felt kind of silly about spying on Rayne, well.. accidentally. He hadn't noticed Rachel at all until the last minute.. she looked as foul as ever, behind a self righteous attitude of ego and vacant positive emotional outlet, found in a fair few Slytherin, it had become subconscious for Vlad to disregard such presences.
Besides, nothing outside the bubble could be heard, all he heard was the music which he was trying to absorb himself into now he was stood on the wooden floor with just Rayne. He wasn't much of a dancer as far as technicalities go, he probably looked a bit stupid, and he knew he did... but the song was so good and entrancing, and Rayne clearly wasn't judging him... so he found himself sort of slow dancing methodically to it, with his eyes closed openning every now and then to look at Rayne.
She seemed pleased that he was dancing with her, and didn't look at all angry... or even confused (oddly enough), about him even managing to be there. She wasn't bothered how he'd gotten there, why he was there, or any other explanation, she just wanted to dance and Vlad really liked that she was so easy-going in that aspect of her personality. He did think of Rachel being there, after a while.. he thought about offering her another chance to be friends and then he imagined her throwing it back in his face, as would probably be the case, he was pretty much bored with her stale attitude when there was so much more on offer. Is it possible to befriend a Slytherin?
He wondered to himself, as he was deep in thought the music possessed him, and his arm reached out and took Rayne's waist and he pulled her closer in time with the slow pulse of the music. He still had his eyes closed and wasn't really thinking as cautiously as usual, he was probably due a slap from Rayne for touching her so randomly.. he opened his eyes to see how she'd reacted.

Rachel continued writing in her journal, all her senses numb. If she could write a letter, she'd write it to her mother, she decided. She'd tell her what she thought of her, and what she thought of what she did to her. And then she'd write to her father, telling her she hated him. She was sick of both of them. They may love her, but they hadn't protected her. Rachel could see their faces clearly, gaping, shaking their heads, and she grit her teeth. Cowards.
If she could write another letter, she'd write it to her friends. She'd tell them she was sorry, and that she'd try harder. She'd tell them she didn't mean what she said, she just didn't want them too close. That way, she wouldn't expect them to protect her. And she wouldn't be betrayed when they stood there, gaping, shaking their heads.
Finally, if she could write another letter, she'd write it to herself as a seven year old. She'd say she was wasn't ashamed, and that she could get through it. She didn't need her parents, she didn't need her cronies. She would meet great people and she would reject them, but one day she would forgive herself.
Rachel looked up. Four letters lay before her, covered in her handwriting. She looked up through her bubble, and instantly saw Rayne and Vlad. They were together. She was glad. One day maybe she would feel that close to somebody, maybe with Ender. She thought back to Ender. She really liked him, but she knew he deserved better. It wasn't self pity, for once, she was just being honest.
Then suddenly she didn't feel numb anymore. The years of suppresion were over in one moment, and she hated it. She hated feeling like this - she hated feeling. Rachel touched the letters in front of her, and drew back when the ink ran. Why did it do that? She wondered, looking closer. And then she realised. She had begun to cry.

Dixie pressed her palm to her forehead again. Ever since her return to and from Kurr, Dixie had huge headaches. She kept trying to ignore them but it didn't work. So she was on her way to find solitude. Dixie didn't remember much from the day she had escaped earth and went back to Kurr, just that some young girl had been there when she had. Mack had been there, too, she had heard her. That kind of made Dixie sick to her stomach. Dixie sighed and continued to walk down the corridor, her heels clicking as she walked. She was out of uniform. She wore a flowy cream skirt and an off the shoulder silk top. Her hair was curled and pulled into a low pony tail. For once, she liked how she looked. It wasn't until she heard music that she stopped walking. She opened the door after standing outside it for a few moments. The music had turned off by then, so it wasn't as if she had missed much.
"Well," Dixie said upon entering. There were two bubbles. One held a boy and a girl, and the other held Rachel. Dixie put her hands on her hips and then pulled out her wand. There was no need to get rid of the boy and girl's bubble, but she did want to talk to Rachel. Waving her wand and muttering the encantation, the bubble disappeared with a 'pop!' "If this isn't a huge separation of the houses, pet, I'm not sure what is." Dixie tucked her wand away and walked gracefully beside Rachel. She sat down on the floor next to her, fanning out her skirt. "What are you up to?" It was then she noticed her crying. Concern riddled her face, "Are you crying? Or is it raining in here?" Her eyes looked up as if she were looking for a rain cloud, but then fell back down when she wanted Rachel's reply.

Rachel looked up in surprise when someone broke her bubble. Recognising Dixie, she felt another tear fall down her cheek. She hadn't thought of anybody being able to see her like this, and she felt sick. The only thing worse than feeling numb for years was suddenly feeling something and being seen. "Oh, I'm not crying. Allergies...I think...," she began feebly, before another wave of tears came. She slumped back, trying to control herself. "I'm sorry, really I am. I'm fine. Are you OK, though? I haven't seen you since that day in the corridor," she said, looking up and giving, what she hoped, was a bright smile. She really hoped Dixie was OK. Standing up and brushing herself off, she turned to Dixie. She left the letters on the floor - she could get them later. She wouldn't send them anyway, what would be the point? But she wanted to keep them. She smiled again at Dixie.

Rayne smiled when Vlad pulled her closer and began dancing to the music. She was happy to be there with him but she couldn't help but feel sorry for Rachel. She really didn't want to fight with this girl but she had been horrible to her. She turned to Vlad trying to concentrate on just the music and him. It really wasn't hard. He was a good dancer and she was enjoying every minute they were dancing together. At that moment it was just her and him and nothing but the music.
When she turned around and opened her eyes however she saw Rachel on the ground crying. She turned to Vlad. "I feel awful love. I should make this right." She stepped out of her bubble and saw that another girl had come an older girl by the look of it. Rachel and that girl were talking. A wave of her wand and her bubble came down. If she was going to try and be friends with this girl then the seperations shouldn't be up.
Tentatively she stepped closer to Rachel and the other girl. Apparently they hadn't seen her yet as they were both absorbed in conversation. Rayne tried to hide the worry she was feeling. She was worried that this new girl was going to curse her. She was worried Rachel wouldn't forgive her. She was worried Rachel would forgive her for now but throw it back in her face later. She was also worried Vlad would think this was another case of her using him. Regardless Rayne swallowed these fears as she made her way towards them.
Looking down Rayne noticed that Rachels papers were on the floor. She stooped down and gathered them up without looking at them. It wasn't her business to know what Rachel wrote when no one was around and she didn't plan on looking at them either. "Umm Rachel. I'm really sorry love." She said eyes down as she held the papers out towards Rachel.

Patricia, layed down on her bed…dozing off, trying to, at least, than flipped over on heR stomach. Still no use. She couldn’t sleep. It was hopeless. She had way too much on her mind. Of home, of her father. And worry for her sister. She flipped over on her back, and stared at the ceiling for a minute. Then she looked around the room. Everyone was asleep. She sat up and rubbed her head on the small bruise above her eyebrow “ouch…dad” she complained. Then she sat up and looked at her bed then at the door.
So she slipped on her robe and walked out of the common room to explore. As she watched, her feet Step. “One two, one two” she counted and stared at all the walls in the hallway in amazement of how big they looked at night. It was frightening her. She cringed and shook with fear. But she thought it off though, and began to walk again.
She walked down a lot off different halls as well. The she herd some music in the room of requirements. She opened the door quietly and spotted two students, A Ravenclaw and a Hufflepuff. “how pathetic” she thought to herself
She leaned against the door and smiled as she flipped her blonde hair from her face exposing her bruise without knowing it. “Wow a goody too shoes huffily puff and smarty pants Ravenclaw…. how original. When’s the wedding love?” She said with a mocking smile. Then she saw Rachel crying. She walked. “Great now what did you do to her?” she shoved right by Rayne to Rachel… “Are you ok?” she asked conserned.

Dixie raised an eyebrow and was about to answer her when another girl seemed to join them. She knew it was the girl from the other bubble. She seemed to be giving Rachel some pity and Dixie was about to say something more, but then another girl joined them. This time making some wise crack remark about the girl and boy who were dancing. This girl then continued to break through and throw a huge fit over Rachel. Dixie stood from her spot on the ground and laced her arm through Rachel's little one, "You," She said, her eyes on the first girl, "It's very nice of you to wonder if Rachel is okay, but I'm sure that boy over there is getting awfully lonely." Dixie offered a small smile. She then turned to the second girl, who Dixie knew was a Slytherin. "And you, I wouldn't make fun of that couple. I don't see you with anyone, thus you have no reason to make fun of. I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't get any guy to fawn over you." Dixie watched her a moment and then smiled at Rachel.
"Now, all of you, leave Rachel be. We were on our own and I liked to speak to her alone," She gave them all a quick look and then waited for someone to say something. Dixie didn't want any mouth from them and if they knew what was good for them, they wouldn't give her any. She wasn't in the mood. In fact, she could be off doing things with more important people, but she wanted to talk to Rachel and she did not need the golly lolly fan club tagging along!

Patricia was appalled at what Dixie said to her. Nobody speaks to her like that except for her father. Whom she wishes to forget right now. That is why she was wondering in the first place. To get away from thoughts of him. She walked over to chair and sat down. She looked up at Dixie. “Well you know it would be pretty easy to leave if somebody” she sent a glare to Vlad and Rayne “turned down that bloody music.” She stood up brushing her robes. “Now will everyone bloody well tell me what’s going all ready? Is this some sort of club or whatever that you people join on the holidays when your not with your family or what?” She crossed her arms and leaned on the wall waiting for a response

Rayne sent a glare at the newcomer. She was not a happy camper at all. She had come here to get away from all the drama and now that's all there was in the room with the exception of Vlad. And then when she had finally overcome her anger at Rachel and had decided she wanted to do the right thing and try to befriend her she was stopped by an older Slytherin and some nosey little girl who seemed to think the world owed her everything.
Rayne took a deep breath and counted to ten. She needed to calm down or she would say something she regretted. Ruining her chance to prove to Rachel she was sorry. Angering the older Slytherin who actually seemed pretty nice and the other girl. She could deal with getting in a fight with the other girl but she wasn't worth Vlad and the others anger at her so she'd leave her be. Rayne set the papers on the floor next to Rachel turning them upside down so that no one could see what was written on them. "I'm not sure about Vlad but when you have time I would like to talk to you relatively alone." She said to Rachel. She turned to Dixie. "Thanks" she said refering to her sticking up for Vald and herself. Then she added "Make her feel better k?" Rayne walked away from the trio completely ignoring the other girl she wasn't worth her time.
Rayne walked back over to where Vlad was standing and reconstructed her bubble. Just because she'd agreed to give Dixie and Rachel privacy didn't mean she would leave the room. She had been there first and she fully intended to stay there. Rayne changed the music with another wave of her wand and turned to Vlad. "Want to dance some more love?"

Patricia walked over to the window of the room and opened it. And then stood still stairing out the window, for a few seconds, and smiled a sweet smile, and her pale skin reflected of the moonlight while her curly blonde hair was practically white with shine. She looked so happy at that moment. She looked sweet and angelic. Butt then she turned around and her smile, it was a demonic smile, one that meant she is up to something, something that is not good, not good at all. She then put her head up and skipped back to the chair. And sat With here knee up holding it close to her heart.
She sent a sweet smile towards Rayne. Who looked at her in disgust. She bent her head down exposing the dark circles under her dark brown eyes. She looked evil and satanic. But yet sweet.
While she was doing so she thought of horrible things to do to Rayne at that very moment, during the year, everything raced through her head. All these fun things she was thinking made her send out a soft evil chuckle. While lifting up her head, showing that soft sweet smile once again “Oh what fun this will be” she said with a smile and stared at Rayne mostly because she was pissing her off the most, and nobody wants to get on here bad side at all. Plus she was just trying to be friendly tonight, but hey she was just trying to be friendly. After all

Rachel watched in silence, her mouth slightly open. First, Rayne had got rid of her bubble, and had shown her concern. After all Rachel had done to that girl, she had come over and even asked Dixie to make sure she was OK. Rachel couldn't even say thankyou, she just gave Rayne a watery smile, and a quick nod. She knew then that what she had done to Rayne, and Vlad, was despicable, and she was beyond sorry. Later, she would go and apologise to both of them, and she swore to herself she would never hurt either of them again. Her word only meant something when she meant it, and this time, she meant it. When Rachel saw Rayne leave her letters, face down, on the floor, that one gesture let her know that eventually everything would be alright. Gathering her thoughts, and with the risk Rayne couldn't even hear her, as she was going near her bubble again, Rachel raised her eyes. "Thankyou, Rayne."
Rachel also couldn't believe Dixie. After annoying her out of her mind that day, she was here to speak to her. Rachel knew she deserved more than this girl could give her, but she was just thankful she was protecting her right now. It felt good to be protected.
Another girl had arrived, and Rachel was touched by her concern. It was Patricia, she realised, the girl she had met after her fight with Cherokee. Rachel was happy to see her again, a little embarrassed that someone she didn't really know was seeing her like this, but thankful that she actually cared. But Rayne and Dixie didn't seem to want her around, and the last thing Rachel wanted was conflict. But she wasn't about to be rude either. "I"m OK, thankyou," she whispered to Patricia. She turned to Dixie. "Um...If you'll excuse me, I just have to talk to Dixie for a moment," she said, looking up at Dixie and smiling. Bending over, Rachel grabbed her letters and held them close. Glancing once more at Rayne and Vlad, she hoped they saw her smile at them.

Patricia smiled at Rachel sweetly. Then she jolted her head back on Rayne with anticipation. Waiting to see her reaction
She still had had a sweet angelic smile then. She turned her head to look at Vlad, with and innocent smile as well. She raised her right eyebrow, then she went back to Rayne. And waited

Looking up at Dixie, Rachel hoped Dixie would lead her somewhere more private. She wanted to talk to Dixie too, and wasn't really comfortable doing it in front of anyone else. "Do you want to go out into the hall?" She asked Dixie, tucking the letters into her pocket. Lowering her head, she quickly walked out of the room, smiling at Patrica before entering the hall.
