Rachel paced the halls, biting her lip. She'd asked Patrica to meet her here, and was hoping she wouldn't be too late. Rachel had to talk to her. What she was going to say was still unknown to her, but she had to talk to Patrica. Just to make sure things were OK, to ensure Rachel was still OK.
She leant against the wall, closing her eyes and wondering if she should tell Patrica the truth. It seemed hopeless, and unreasonable, but Rachel couldn't see another way out of feeling guilty. She heard some footsteps and jumped up, scanning the halls for her friend. "Trish?" She called.

Patricia turned an spotted Rachel. "Oh there you are love?" Patricia waved to wards her. She ran up. "So what is up? What did you want to tell me" Patricia saw Rachel's expression. It didn't look so well. "What is wrong?" she asked with worry. "Are you OK?"
She hoped that something wasn't that bad. What if she was in trouble, or Richard? That would be horrible "Tell me Rachel.....we are best friends, after all. You can trust me"

Rachel felt a mixture of relief and something less favourable as Patrica walked up, and asked her what was wrong. It was the perfect opening, but Rachel just couldn't take it. She couldn't right now. Ten minutes, she promised herself, just ten minutes and then she'd tell her. Grinning broadly, she walked towards her friend. "Nothing's the matter, Trish. Just a bit tired. How are you? What have you been doing?" She asked conversationally, making a concious effort to not look stressed or tense. She leant against the wall. This was going to be a long ten minutes.

"Oh I haven't been up to much" Patrica said with smile. "Richard and I had a wonderful Dinner." Patrcia scratched her head. "Actually it was rather boring. All he did was talk about-" Patrcia stopped. "Oh never mind." Patrcia shook her head trying to lose the memory of Richard who wouldn't shut up about Rachel that night. She still liked Richard alot, but didn't think he liked her the same way.
"Oh I alomost forgot to tell you" Patrcia said with excitment. " I met this boy in my History of Magic Class. His name is Blake" she siad with smile. "We hung out a little bit today."She said with a smile She raised her eyebrows. "He is rather obsessed with pudding" Patricia said with a chuckle. "He is in Slytherin as well. You might have seen him before. Tall, brown hair. I have seen him around a couple of times."

Rachel widened her eyes as Patrica talked about her first date with Richard. "I'm so sorry to hear that," she said genuinely. And she was, she didnt' want her friends to break up. "Did he just talk about writing?" She asked sympathetically. Rachel knew how boring she could be when she just talked about dancing or singing, and made a vow to talk to Richard. He obviously didn't know. "And you're wrong, Trish. He really likes you. I mean, really, really likes you," she said, even though it really, really hurt her to say. Rachel sighed, and tried to raise a smile at her joke, but couldn't.
Rachel listened distractedly as Patrica talked, lost in thought, but suddenly jerked back when she heard what Trish was actually saying. "Blake? Of course I know Blake! You didn't hang out with him did you?" She asked sharply. Blake was a Slytherin, who everyone knew was a bit of a player. Once Rachel might have been interested in that, but not now. And she definately didn't think it was a good idea for Trish to hang out with him. Not meaning to be critical, she tried to keep her tone light. "Seriously, Trish, that's not a good idea. All he's after is one thing," she said slowly. Rachel didn't like how close Patrica sounded to him. "I think you should back off him a little bit. For Richard's sake," she said after a pause.

Patricia turned her head to the side confused. Blake wasn't a player. He was obsessed with pudding. How is that being a player
"Rach relax . If Blake was player. He would have made a move on me while we were swimming." Patricia smiled and rolled her eyes. "Besides were just friends. I am sure Richard won't mind. It is like, you and Richard. How you guys are friends." She smiled. "Besides, I care about Blake the same you care about Richard. It is not a big deal. I am sure Richard is fine with it. Besides he knows I like him." She said sympathetically.

Rachel grimaced. If Patrica felt the same way about Blake that she did about Richard, they were all in trouble. "OK, I believe you," she said after a pause, trying not to wince. Rachel knew of Blake's reputation, and was a bit worried. Trying to remember what Harmony had told her, she straightened up. Eight minutes had gone by. She still had two free minutes. "So...are you going out with Richard again?" She asked trepidously.

Patricia smiled. "Well I want to. But I haven't seen him since last night" Patricia's smiled dropped.

"Oh. OK. Well, I hope you catch up with him," Rachel said, looking away. Ten minutes had passed. Moment of truth. She toyed with idea of making it 15 minutes, but she knew it would just make it harder. "Trish, you have no idea how hard this is for me to tell you, but I have to do it. I have to know that you don't hate me for it. I am really sorry, and I never, ever meant for this to happen. I don't want anything at all to change between anybody. So, I'm just going to tell you. It's not big deal," she babbled, and then stopped. She wasn't acting at all like herself. She took a shaky breath in. "I like Richard."
Ten seconds passed. Rachel wondered how ten seconds could pass and feel longer than the ten minutes she had procrastinated in. She waited for Patrica's response, holding her breath. It's no big deal, it's no big deal, she thought nervously.

Patrcia stood there wide eyed. With one blink, two.

Rachel continued to wait as Patrica just blinked. "Please, say something, Trish. I never meant to do this, it just happened. And nothing's going to change. It's not big deal," she began, finally realising the power of silence.

"I knew it" Patricia mumbled. "I knew you guys weren't just good friends. There was something more. I knew it." Patricia's leaned against the wall. She slid down to the floor. A tear trickled down her face. She banged her head against the wall hard.
I knew they were closer. Rachel my best friend liked my boyfriend. And he defiantly liked her as well. With how much he talked about her. They even had nick names for each other. Patricia you're so stupid. BLOODY HELL. Your daft girl.
She banged her head even harder. She then got really dizzy and fell over on her side.
"Ow"

Rachel gasped as Patrica banged her head against the wall and rushed over to help Trish up. "Are you stupid, Patrica? Why would you do that?" She asked angrily, her worry and guilt coming combining so she was almost yelling. She stood up and walked backwards. "Anyway, what are you talking about? I like him, he doesn't like me! There is nothing more. We are just best friends, he would never, ever do anything to hurt you, Patrica. And I hoped I wouldn't either. That's why I'm telling you. I just...I just wanted you to know so that I wouldn't be lying to you," she snapped, and then instanlty regretted it. Placing her face in her hands she leant against the wall. "I'm sorry, Trish. I'm so sorry," she said softly. What had she done?

Patricia looked at Rachel. "But he does like you" she snapped. She stood up and looked at Rachel. "You want to know what he talked about on our Date HM" she looked at her with hurt in her eyes. "He talked about you. How wonderful YOU are, How great YOU are. " She ran her fingers through her hair.
"IT DROVE ME INSANE" she yelled through clenched teeth. "How wonderful you danced, how wonderful you sang, how funny you were" She looked down in tears of anger and frustration. "I didn't even knew you sang or danced." She looked down and paced. She then turned to Rachel in Sadness. "YOUR MY BEST FRIEND RACHEL. My boyfriend knows more about my best friend then I do?" she turned away from Rachel, and slammed her hands on the wall leaning against it. "How do you think that makes me feel" she said through clenched teeth.

"I'm sorry, Trish. I'm sorry. I didn't know, I really didn't know," Rachel said, trying not to cry herself. She tried to grab one of Patrica's hands, but caught herself. The last thing Patrica would want was to be touched by her. "Patrica, you have to believe me. He doesn't love me, he loves you. And I'm sorry I've been neglecting you lately, I didn't mean to. I've just felt so guilty about this all that I've been trying to avoid you. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," she tried to say, her voice cracking. She turned away and faced the wall, her back to Patrica. "Do you know what he talks about when he's with me? He talks about you," she said softly. It was true, he did talk about Trish. And it broke her heart, but she loved to see him happy.

Patricia turned and looked at Rachel then sighed. She sat down on the floor. "I don't care that you like him" she said trying not to cry. The truth is she did care. She cared alot. "I care that He likes you. Your all he talks about." Patricia hugged her knees. "Plus I am angry at myself.....but I don't want to get into that" she mumbled.

Rachel frowned, and felt her heartbeat quicken. "He doesn't! Don't you ever say he does, again!" She snapped. "Maybe he only talks about me because maybe I'm a common ground. I don't know. But he likes you," she hissed, trying to get Patrica to believe her. Rachel knew she wasn't doing a very good job, but Patrica refused to believe her. Richard didn't like her, he liked Trish.
Closing her eyes, she tried to understand how Patrica could possibly believe that Richard didn't like her. "Why don't you believe me, Trish?" She asked sadly. Then, she stared at Patrica. "And why on earth would you be angry at yourself?"

Patricia frowned. She new Richard liked her. She could see it. When he talked about her he lit up. "AHUgh" Patricia moaned. This wasn't going so well. "I- I like Richard alot. But obviously he likes you. You like him....adn well"Patrica bit her lip. "I um well I.... was having lots of fun with Blake" she whined. She acted like she was five. She hated this predicament

Rachel gasped. "What? You can't do that! You like Richard, and he likes you. If you leave, it'll break his heart, Patrica. It will honestly break his heart. You can't do this to him," she said, her cheeks turning pink in anger. She knew what would happen if Patrica broke up with Richard. He would be devastated. He would become a recluse, where all he could think about would be his poetry about the girl he loved who left him for Blake. "Trish, if you like him, you have to stay with him. Because if you don't...he...he wouldn't cope, Trish. He really likes you," she said, trying to regain her composure. She had to ensure Patrica and Richard stayed together. There was no way she was going to be responsible for breaking her two best friend's hearts. Nobody meant more in the world to her than Richard and Patrica.

Patrcia gulped, "I like Richard so much....You don't know how much I like him." Patricia looked down as her blonde hair fell in her face. "But he likes you,.... sure I guess he likes me. But is you he wants." She looked up at Rachel. "You should see his face when he says your name. It is like, nothing is wrong in life, that it is perfect."
She put her blonde hair behind her ear, expoing her wet cheeks. Her pale white, face was a pink shade. "And I can't go through with that. Going on saying he is my boyfriend. When he is clearly into someone else. my best friedn to say the least. But Blake seemed to like me" she said in a crack. She looked down once again at her feet and whipped her hand against her cheek, brushing away the tears.
