Hogwarts wasn't as fun anymore, it seemed. The dazzling sparkle coating newly-discovered magic had worn off shortly before the end of her first year, but her friends had kept her occupied. Then. over the summer, Myn had to adjust to the arrival of a seven year old cousin and an overbearing aunt who seemed to love her too much for someone who had only just met her. But Kerry and Mark were part of the family now. Myn had been counting on her friends to keep her from dwelling on the serious side of her nature but Zach was gone, May was still grieving for Leon, and quite rightly so, and Wendi...Wendi was acting weird and Myn hadn't probed to find out why. Some things just couldn't be shared, even between friends. She respected that, especially considering that she hadn't told anyone the full details of her life, or even the full range of her emotions at times. It just wasn't in her nature to share things without being pressed by people she trusted, and those few people rarely did press her enough for her to be completely honest. It wasn't that they didn't care - at least Myn hoped not - but rather that they presumed she would tell all in her own time. But when had she ever willingly shared her thoughts, feelings or anything else close to the heart?
However strong her resolution not to bother either Wendi or May, she really needed some help, Myn admitted silently. What was the difference between the bow used to greet the family of a friend or acquaintance and the bow used to greet an important pureblood? And why did it matter? More to the point, what on earth had possessed her to think that she could, in one year, learn what pureblood children her age had learnt over the span of twelve years? Wendi and May, being purebloods themselves, would surely know but was the wrath of Kerry - her self-appointed tutor for the pureblood etiquette that she would've learnt if her father 'had had as better choice in wives', as Kerry had worded it - really worth disturbing her friends? Could she really disturb May from her grief or Wendi from her thoughts, even in the name of her studies? Yes, yes, she could, Myn decided hastily after a quick glance at the assignment her aunt had bestowed upon her. Kerrys wrath was a fearful thing and the first thing Mark had warned her about, shortly before cheekily informing her that he would probably wake her up very early over the summer, just to annoy her.
Wendi or May? Myn mused thoughtfully. The decision was made for her when she couldn't find May in the common room. Wendi it was. Where could she find her? Hufflepuff common room, student lounge or wandering around Hogwarts somewhere. Myn closed her eyes and concentrated on her breathing, sorting through the possible places to find her Hufflepuff friend before picking out the most likely. The Huffle common room, of course. Myn knew where it was but would have to camp outside for a while, since she didn't know the password. It didn't take long for Myn to reach the common room and she sat outside the portrait calmly, ready to wait for as long as it took. Not for over an hour, though. Her patience had its limits.
