It was evening and there was a warmth to Hogwarts, christmas had pased and the place seemed less dead and deserted then in the biting heart of winter. Soon enough it would be spring.
It was still pretty dank in the Hufflepuff quarters though, Vlad had picked up a sickness that had been going around he was normally great to not get ill but this was really bad, he hadn't felt so weak in a long time. Every time he would stand up the room would spin, lying down made him nautious and his head was just generally attached to an invisible anchor.
After lying in bed tossing and turning he seriously couldn't get to sleep, he was the only one around he didn't even know where other people were not that he cared, he decided to go and look for Rayne since she was the only person whos company he knew would cheer him up right now, and maybe even make him feel better. He rose to his feet from the bed, the room span as before and he had to rest a palm on the wall to steady himself before walking out into the corridors. It was very dark but not too so late as he shouldn't be out, they were still in the period of getting early sunsets.
He walked almost like a zombie down hallways and staircases his eye lids half shut, he hadn't really planned to go anywhere specifically but after a while the air became much thinner than the stuffy heat of the dorm. This felt good and cleared his lungs a little, though he still coughed regularly, a hacking cough.
He eventually reached the courtyard where he saw a bench which meant a lot to him, he decided to sit there since he was about to faint but also because he knew Rayne would often come and sit here, he was probably contageous but he didn't care, he was really damn lonely. Heck, even Rachel's company would probably be better than this torture, though she had seemed a little less of a bad person lately.
So he waited, and waited, and waited, he could hear crickets around him it was clearly getting later in the evening, he was angry, not because noone would come and keep him company, he wasn't blaming anyone, but he just felt so enraged because he hated being on his own, and he was starting to think people didn't want to know him again, and he'd just been played by all the people he'd met over christmas as a holiday friend, a convenient friend who they no longer needed.
Vlad stood up and decided to leave, as he was walking off the bench caught on his trousers and he tripped a little, he started to kick the bench and this eventually inspired into quite a violent outburst, and punch after punch and kick after kick he broke the bench in two, and then stopped and growled. He was never usually so angry... it must be the sickness, he hated everyone right now. As he turned to finally leave, clutching his right fist in a nursing manner, he heard footsteps behind him he swooshed round to see the silhouette of a girl.

Patricia walked and smiled, she even hummed a toon she never did that, as she skipped down the hallway, thinking of most miraculous day she had with Richard then she spotted boy, she has seen him before but never really caught his name. She looked at him curiously as he was hitting the bench, “What are you doing?” she a little concerned for the boy.

Vlad looked at Patricia in the darkness and noticed her features, he'd seen her around but he wasn't sure what she was like. Oh well, as he was standing there he involuntarily leaned onto the archway he was now standing in, his back was hunched and he began to cough like an angry dog.
He didn't say anything to her at first, he was suffering too much but didn't want to seem impolite, he just literally couldn't focus.
'It doesn't concern you' he said, not angrily but because he'd just broken school property and it felt like te right thing to say. He composed himself a little and approached her, he extended his sickly hand towards her in a friendly gesture, it was also a bit bloody and bruised, 'i'm Vlad'. He wasn't smiling.

Rachel walked through the courtyard, humming. She couldn't decide whether what mood she was in. Melancholy? Maybe, she thought. Wrapped up in her own thoughts she didn't see anybody in front of her until she heard a boy speaking. Rachel looked around and saw Vlad, not smiling, talking to somebody. And he looked terrible "Vlad? Is that you?" She asked, walking closer. She spotted Patrica and gave her a quick smile before turning back to Vlad. "Are you OK?" She asked. She didn't want to butt in, since she knew what Vlad thought of her, but she was really trying to be better, and didn't want to walk off and leave him when he looked like this.

Patricia looked at his arm and backed away a little terrified. Than reached for with caution. He looked rather ill to say the least. “Patricia” she shook his hand. She then noticed Rachel and returned her smile. “I don’t mean to be forward, but are you ill by any chance?” She asked a little scared for the boy

As another figure loomed out of the shadows Vlad peered the other way, as he gripped Patricia's hand and was gentle so he didn't scare her she already looked a little off colour.
His dark eyes met Rachels and he turned to face off disregarding Patricia for a second, he didn't really know how much trouble he was in now and it was kind of ironic that he'd wait around all day for company then two people show up at once! Just like buses he thought, gulping and trying to clear his head which wanted to smack the ground and collapse.
'Hello Rachel, i really don't have time today' he said surprisingly calmly he was trying to put up atleast some defence incase she was going to exploit him, she could totally blackmail him right now into doing pretty much anything she wanted, because if he got in trouble, he would probably not be allowed to perform his music piece later this year, nor have access to any of the numerous grand piano's.
As all this crossed his mind he felt faint again, and like a complete idiot his hunched body walked over to the bench and he sat down... forgetting th damn thing was broke in half, it fell under his weight and he was just a pile on the floor, oh well, it was where his body wanted to be. He hated people seeing him like this.

Patricia looked at him in dismay. As he fell to the floor, she bit her lip trying not to giggle.“Are you ok” She asked with an akward face, she went over to help him up “Is he ok Rachel” She asked, hinting Rachel to help her with him “You don’t look well, Vlad is your name?”

"Oh my goodnes, Vlad!" Rachel cried as he fell through the chair. "Yes, he'll be fine. Just help me pull him up," she said to Patrica, as she tried to get Vlad to stand. "Are you out of your mind? You already broke the stupid thing. Why did you think you could sit on it?" She demanded, rolling her eyes. She looked over at Patrica. Knowing how wanted she was at the moment, especially by Vlad, she decided she'd better make an exit. She didn't want to pose more problems for Vlad - she'd done enough damage. "Well, I suppose you guys have it under control. I'll see you around, Patrica. You too Vlad. Um...just before I go, I am sorry, Vlad. About that lunch. And the thing with Ender. Just so you know," she said before turning around. Trying to make her exit as graceful as possible, she began to walk away.

Patricia helped Rachel pull Vlad up. And then after Rachel left. Patricia turned and put her hand up “Wait Rachel.. I” she was gone. She then turned to Vlad “ Wha--- Hi…..she does that a lot from time to time.“ Patricia starred off and put her finger down “Wait…yeah she does.” She said nodding. “But once again are you ok?” she asked with a strange smile.

Rayne got up from the side of the lake. She'd been more and more introverted lately and had been spending way to much time in the cliffs above the lake. She couldn't hide forever she knew this but it was so tempting to just keep to herself and not have to see her sister or Vlad. It was unfair to both of them that she was avoiding them they didn't know that she had her condition. Avoiding her newly found sister Rayne could stomach but she felt really horrible that she'd been going out of her way not to see Vlad. It wasn't his fault he had stumbled upon her while she was in a seizuring state. It wasn't his fault her parents and grandparents and pretty much everyone close to her had out and out lied to her. And it definately was not his fault she had been feeling so down lately. No if anything he was her savior. She was just too weak and scared to face him after everything that had happened in the past week. Rayne brushed the dirt off her skirt as she began to make her way to her tree. She was going to make everything right again and since she was outside she might as well check the one place outside Vlad might be. If he wasn't there she would continue on into the Student Lounge and then the Room of Requirements. She would even find her way into the Hufflepuff Common room if it would help her find him.
Once at her tree she found him and surrounding him was Patricia a Slytherin she really didn't get along with the two times they'd met and Rachel who she had just made up with and was hopefully now friends with. Vlad looked really bad he was now laying on a broken bench. She was sad to see it was her favorite bench but she was more worried about the boy lying in front of her. Rayne heard Rachel try to help Vlad before deciding she'd rather leave. From the looks of things Vlad would need all the help he could get she would rather have Rachel stay and help her then leave.
Rayne walked up to the trio. "Hey Rachel love could you help me help him?" She asked as she grabbed one of Vlads hands and began to pull him up off the ground. "Love you really should watch what you're doing when you're sick."

Rachel turned around when she heard Rayne's voice. Smiling, she walked back to Vlad. "Hey, Rayne," she said, nodding a greeting. She then turned to Vlad and grabbed one of his hands. "Come on Vlad," she said softly, trying to pull him up. Motioning for Patrica to help them, she got a better grip of Vlad's wrist and tried to get him up.

Patricia, Noticed Rayne run up to Vlad, “oh great” she thought. Thanh Rachel came back all of a sudden, all this so many people togather was confusing her. She knew Rayne didn’t like Patricia. And she was waiting for an argument to befall upon them. But Patricia thought about it, she was after all turning over a new leaf. She wasn’t going to pick a fight, and she still was confused with Vlad, was he sick, if so wat was wrong? What did he have, Was it deadly? “If you don’t mind me asking once again what is wrong with the poor boy?” she turned to Rayne expecting an answer... At least she hopped for an answer

Vlad felt the sting of his hand as it was grabbed, the grip soon felt softer and he came to his senses with blurry vision which slowly focused on Rayne's face which was almost too good to be true, he thought he must have been imagining or something, like he sometimes did. He noticed her talking to Rachel kindly, beckoning her to come back and there was no malice in her voice. Rayne pretty much confirmed that Rachel was worth some respect now, and he didn't want her to leave uncomfortably.
He hadn't seen Rayne as much lately and there was definitely a distance or some void of confusion and he wasn't sure if she was having any second thoughts about wanting to be with him. She seemed the same as ever, and he almost hated how his mind would drive him crazy when she wasn't around, and make him think paranoid and negative things. He had figured she needed some space for herself, and he wasn't really going to start acting clingy as that nearly always ends up messing things up, he's seen clingy and paranoid people lose everything. He smiled at her though his face must have been as white as a ghost, which conflicted the black sleepless bags under his eyes.
'Yeah i'm ok now' he said to Patricia, he sounded kind of serious since she was still a stranger to him. As Rachel came back and took a hold of him, he began to cough and his throat was ripping itself out it felt like, he squeezed Rayne's hand painfully tight, then extended his arms willingly accepting them pulling him up.

Patricia was now extremily worried at this. “You really look ill, are you sure you are ok, do we need to take you to Hospital wing?” Patricia was worried this boy really looked ill, like deadly ill, very pale, she was naturally pale, but nobody was this pale. He looked dead mind you.

Rayne didn't pay much attention to Patricia at first she was the least of her problems at the moment. No they didn't get along yes they would probably have a fight later on if Patricia provoked it. However in the here and now the only thing that mattered was her boyfriend who really didn't look well. So Rayne was surprised to see, out of the corner of her eye, Patricia turn towards her and ask what was wrong with Vlad. "He's really sick." Was all she said to Patricia. Right now reassuring the girl wasn't her top priority. She needed to get Vlad up off the broken bench and onto a new one before he fell down again. She wasn't very strong and Rachel didn't seem very strong either so them getting him up this time would be a minor miracle. She doubted very much that they would be able to get him up without magic a second time. "
Once Rachel and Rayne had a firm grip on Vlads own arms he said something to Patricia before coughing violently and squeezing Raynes hand painfully tight. Rayne winced unnoticably and guided him with Rachels help to another bench a few feet away. "Thanks." She said to Rachel as she knelt down so that she was face to face with Vlad. "Alright love what's wrong?" She asked Vlad then she turned to face the other two. "Any idea how long he's been like this? Was anyone with him when he first came out?" She asked she knew she sounded commanding and normally she didn't like being in charge right now she really didn't care. She needed to know these things so she could find out what exactly was wrong with Vlad.

Patricia looked at Rayne. “Well I cam out hear and, he was beating the bench, like a looney. It was already broken. And well I cam out hear, and I asked him what was wrong. He didn’t tell me, then Rachel came and he sat down on the broken Bench mind you and fell on his bum.” She sat down on her knees and had a precariously look on her face then felt his forehead. She pulled away her hand and then nodded. “We need to get him to the hospital wing… he is not well?” She then stood up acknowledging them. “He has a very high fever. Not normal?” She said with a concerned look to the other girls

Vlad leant on Rayne as she helped him hobble over to the bench, it really wasn't dramatically terrible where he couldn't walk or anything, but the support was much appreciated, she gave him stability.
The courtyard was a different place now, but he wasn't angry anymore, he knew this was completely out of character than what Rayne knew to be the normal Vlad, so he had some explaining to do. 'Erm.. ~coughing~ he waited for himself to stop, Rayne patiently waited he loved how understanding she was, 'so incase you haven't noticed i've made a complete pratt of myself'. He looked back over at the bench which was the one she loved to sit with... he'd completely wrecked it. Her eyes followed his and they both glanced over at it, then he looked back at her. His eyes slumped around the edges, almost wincing with sorrow. 'Rayne i'm sorry i wrecked your bench, i was alone and i got angry, i even thought you didn't want to know me anymore.' He let out another round of painful coughs, and prushed his fingers into his shut eyes to numb the headache. 'But i shouldn't have done it, if you hate me now i understand, and thanks for helping me out i'm just a bit sick... noting to worry about'. Yeah right.
'Can i ask where you've been lately?' He stared at her like the others weren't there, and he was really quite anxious to take the dramatic spotlight off of himself, he'd just wanted some company, and now he had it.. sort of!

Rayne sighed as Patricia confirmed what she already knew. He was burning up Rayne just wasn't sure how bad the fever was. Rayne ignored Vlads ramblings as she reached up and felt his forehead. He was worse off then she originally thought. If this fever kept up his brain would be fried in a matter of hours. What she really needed to do was get the fever down and fairly fast. "Don't worry about it love my bench can be fixed easily. Right now you have a fever a pretty bad one we need to get it down and get you better." She said skipping his question about where she'd been and digging through her bag. She knew he'd probably ask it again and she'd rather wait a bit before touching on that subject at least long enough to get him better and away from the ears of the other two girls.
Vlad was extremely lucky that she had been through so many tests and been to over seven hospitals. She knew a lot about medicine as a result. Another good thing for Vlad is they still didn't know what was wrong with her so she had a ton of medication for a bunch of different symptoms. One of the bottles she carried with her was a muggle bottle of Ibuprofin. Magic worked wonders on headaches and fevers however Rayne didn't know the spells to cure those things so she'd taken to carrying her own brand of medicine around.
Rayne shook 2 tablets of Ibuprophin out of the bottle and handed it to him along with a bottle of water she generally kept with her. "Take these and drink this love. It'll help your fever while we get you to a place to rest." Rayne was confident after hearing him talk and feeling his head that he wasn't deathly ill. In fact he had the common cold and fluids and rest would do the trick for sure.

Patricia paced as she saw, Rayne give him something. “Are you daft boy… what are you doing out of bed when you feel like this?” She asked with an angery tone as her blonde hair fell in her face, she hated when that happened. She the shoved it behind her ear. And bit her lip. She looked at rayne “we should get him to the hospital wing”

'No i'm fine' He said sternly at Patricia. His ears were really set on Rayne's reponse to his question, which didn't arrive, he knew not to be persistent as the way she was acting was like it may have been something personal.
He swallowed back the two pills Rayne had handed him, tipping the bottle up pouring straight down his throat. He exhaled in a gesture of 'ahh that felt good' and handed Rayne the water bottle back, wiping the clumsily spilt water from the sides of his mouth. Why was he so undignified tonight, who knows.
'Thanks' He glanced at the pills and supplies she was carrying with her, 'you seem to have quite a stash there, you can nurse me back to full health if you want'. Vlad smiled and laughed a bit at his own joke, then started to get up and as he did the world span, the sky shifted and his balance went crooked, he took his seat again and sighed with a palm on his forehead rubbing it with unease.
The night had moved on and it was clearly late, he held out the better of his hands towards Rayne and said 'so you want to go grab some food before i get in a world of trouble?', waiting to see what she had to say. He nodded at Patricia and Rachel too, as if to say, everything's alright now, and thanks for sticking around.
