Wendi brushed through her hair with her fingernails just as she felt someone tap her shoulder. Already knowing who it was, Wendi shrugged him off. “Not now McDuff. I actually have finals to study for.” She said brushing her hand to the air as she flipped the page in her Beginner Potions book. Carr laughed as her moved around her and held on to her shoulders. “C’mon Parson. Five minutes.” He persisted. Wendi bit her lip thinking about it. “Finally, she snapped her head. “No, no. Now go away!” She pushed him away playfully as she read over the page about Love Potions. “You don’t want me to fail my finals, now do you?” She asked not really meaning her words as failed to actually concentrate on her studies. “No because then you couldn’t come stay at my castle in Birmingham for a month.” Wendi’s head snapped over to Carr for the first time since he had approached her. “Really?” She asked her eyes bright with hope. He nodded. “The triplets already love you and Henri and Lori are dying to leave school and meet you.” He said smiling. Wendi laughed. “Umm, I’ll think about it, kay?” She asked. He nodded. “Study twiddle dee.” He joked running away. “Hey!” She protested, but too late, Carr had already vanished into thin air.
Half an hour later, Wendi was clumsily walking the castle, Transfiguration book in hand. She was already tired of Potions and decided to move on to the next subject, and leave it to Wendi to study while walking. Wendi tried to flip the page as she walked, but ended up just hitting the corner of the wall. She gave out a grunt as she hit the wall and then fell to the floor. Wendi rolled her eyes at the snickers from some Slytherin first years that were walking by. Earlier in the year, Wendi would have been more upset by this. But, she had grown so much since December. Now, Wendi could stand on her own two feet. She could. Wendi also didn’t care much what people thought about her. Well, besides Carr and Jami and even then, Wendi hadn’t spoken to Jami since December. Wendi wanted to talk to him, she did. It was just so hard now. How could she tell him that in a way, she wanted to believe Keith. Jami would never understand. Wendi just didn’t know what to say to him, but she was trying to figure it out. She was and Carr was helping a lot. He had always had a natural talent for cheering her up. He just had.
Wendi pulled was about to pull herself up from the floor when she felt a hand on hers pulling her up. At first, Wendi was so stunned to see who it was. She leaned back down to pick up her book as the hand pulled away from her. “Thank you so..” She started and then she stared the person in the face. Jami was the last person Wendi would have expected to see. She hadn’t so much as seen him in the hall since January. “Thanks Jami.” She said softly still stunned that it was her big brother that had come to her rescue as always. Wendi eyed the ground and then looked at Jamison. “Look, Jami. I’ve wanted to talk to you, really. It has just been hard. I mean, that letter scared me and..” She paused. “We really need to talk about it okay?” She rambled. “I miss you Jami.” She said simply as she smiled at her big brother. “And as much as I want to take care of myself, I need you. I really, really do. I can’t run forever” She finished as she eyed Jamison with so much meaning in her eyes. Wendi paused and waited for him to answer.
