It was a beautiful Valentine’s Day in Hogsmeade! The sun was shining and throughout the village many people were busily going about their daily lives. Belle’s work had received special permission to take a cart to Hogsmeade and sell their merchandise today. Although their main shop would be a bit hectic today with one less employee, the amount of extra profit they’d reap from being here this day was far more appealing to all the workers. As she walked down the streets with a large wagon behind her she soon found her way to the spot they’d been assigned, right between Madam Puddifoot’s and a stationary shop.
Placing the wheel clamps on the wagon’s wheels, Belle waved her wand and the wagon swelled to it’s normal size. One by one she took off the extra boxes that were on the wagon and moved them to the little alleyway behind her and slowly began to open them and place her merchandise in the wagon’s display bins. In very short time she had proudly displayed several heart shaped boxes of candy, small, medium and large sized, white chocolates, dark chocolates and milk chocolates. Neatly stacked next to the candies were two dozen various Valentine’s Day cards ranging from best friends, to boy/girl friends, to husband/wife. Along the sides of the wagon Belle neatly arranged her assortment of flowers, again she had a wide range to suit anyone’s spending budget. Simple carnations sat next to elegant roses. In the final bins of the wagon sat teddy bears and an assortment of other Valentine’s stuffed animals.
Now that her shop was set up, Belle took off her warm overcoat to reveal her bright red dress, which matched her red hair perfectly on this great day, this Valentine’s Day. Now that she was open for business, she waved at all those who passed by and in no time had sold several items. This was going to be a great day for the business! Spotting a few Hogwarts’ students coming her way, she waved happily at them “I’ve got all your Valentine’s Day items right here! Come on over and see what all we have! You won’t be disappointed I guarantee!”

Kim was in Hogsmeade and loving every minute of if! Her parents had given her the permission to go by herself and she was taking full advantage of that! She had already visited the Quidditch shop, Honey Dukes, the pet shop and the toy shop! Of course Kim didn’t have that much money to spend but she didn’t have to spend, she simply ran around looking at all the wonderful things! In the pet shop she spent close to an hour playing with the animals. The toy shop was just as fun as she got to play with some of the new games on the display rack! Her next stop was to be Zonkos! Of course Kim didn’t really care for the gags but she loved those little poppers! As she entered the store her eyes lit up as she saw a whole rack of poppers!
Kim soon found herself standing look up at the tall rack and she read all the wonderful names. “Oooooh!!!” She said as she grabbed a bag of “dragon fire” poppers. Turning the bag over she read about it and she kept it firmly in her hands! They were simply too good and she had to buy it! The rest of the poppers though enticing, were just not enough to make Kim give up the dragon ones. As she paid for them she took her bag and headed outside when right before her she saw a little cart! “Ooooh Valentines!” She happily said as she skipped over to the cart and started to pick up the teddy bears. “Oooh Miss I like teddy bears! They are soft and cuddly and then you can take them with you to bed and then you sleep with them and then if you roll onto them they are soft so you don’t hurt yourself with them. One time I had like seven bears in my bed, this was like a few weeks ago not when I was little when I was little I had lots of bears and stuff but I don’t remember them all but like last week I had seven bears and I woke up in the morning and I was laying on my red bear his name is Mr. Floppy, I call him that because he is a rabbit not a bear but he kind of looks like a bear because he has short ears that rabbits don’t have but he is really a rabbit. Well so I woke up and I was laying on him but he’s really soft so I didn’t hurt myself, do you like rabbits?” Kim then began to look at the rest of the animals and found a little white bear that she liked. “oooh I want this bear!” Kim then dug into her pocket and pulled out her coins and gave them to the woman before she put the bear into her Zonko’s bag.
Kim then turned and ran back towards the castle, she’d flat out spent her last bit of money and now had to get back to the castle. “I’m going to name you snowflake because you look like snow you know that?” Kim said to the bear as she walked with him in her arms. “I have some more bears in my dorm room I think you will be friends with them because they are nice, they don’t like new bears but they will get to like you soon enough…” Kim continued talking to her bear all the way to the Hufflepuff Common Room.

Twirling around outside in the snow Mary danced around sticking out her tongue to catch snowflakes. She hummed to herself as she made her way to a carriage. She pressed her forehead to the window and sang gently to herself as she made her way into Hogsmead. When the carriage finally stopped she pet the spot she assumed the weird horse thing’s side was and stepped out onto the street. She was immediately assailed by noise but one voice carried over the others. It was a woman promoting her cart selling Valentines things. Considering that was just what she was shopping for Mary made her way over. “Hello” she said warmly to the woman “I really like your dress; big plans for tonight?” Mary asked remembering the party her friend Dana was holding.
Walking around the cart Mary picked up this and that. She grabbed a dozen roses. “Excuse me; can I have these wrapped please?” she asked. She then picked up a number of general cards figuring she could figure out whom to give them to later and she would need a few extras in case someone she hadn’t planned on gives her one. She also picked out one specific card with a rose on the front and added it to the stack. “Awwww those are so cute” she said looking at the stuffed animals “I think I will get one for Dana. Its not good to give guys stuffed animals is it?” she asked the woman with a bit of a laugh “Insult to their masculinity. Chocolates are alright though right?” She asked picking up five boxes of those as well, even if she didn’t really need that many you could never have enough chocolate. “How much will all this be?” she asked placing the objects on an empty space on the counter and opening her purse to get her wallet.

Belle cringed as the little girl kept right on talking and gave thanks to every god she could think of when she at last took her bear and headed back home. When she returned to the shop she would definitely have to ask the boss for a raise if she was to come back here again next year. Soon another girl came to the stand and this one proceeded to buy quite a bit. Looking over the items Belle added them up. “Tell you what, since you are buying so much I’ll give you a discount, we’ll call all this 8 galleons.” Behind the girl Belle could see several more students making their way over, happily she waved them on over, “come on over I’ve got just what you need for your special Valentines!”

Today is wonderful. Harry is wonderful. Life is wonderful.
It was one of those days that everything was absolutely perfect, that nothing could spoil the mood you were in, where all she wanted to do was spend more time with Harry her hand in his and the sound of his voice and laugh the only thing she could really hear. She had had a great time with him, every word and confidence exchanged strengthening the bond between them. The Protection Charm they had cast had brought them closer to each other, but Julie knew inside her heart that it would not have worked had it not been for the real feeling they had for each other. Today had been magical and enchanting, one of those times she would treasure and remember for all her life.
But sadly, as with all happy times in life, the time had passed them by too quickly. Harry had to get back to Hogwarts and had now left Julie who had wanted to spend a few more minutes in the beautiful town before leaving. She leaned into him for a quick kiss before he left, and she smiled at him when he looked back at her for a moment and waved as he walked away, and then decided to take a look at the merchandise in the cart they had been standing in front of before he left.
Julie could see at once that there were no items that could really catch her eye. She and Harry had already exchanged their Valentine's Day presents - a present she liked much more than any of the things she could see here. Julie played with her bracelet for a minute, watching it shine as the light reflected on it. So many pink things and so many things covered in hearts – were these items really a real expression of one's love for another? In the end she decided she would just buy a packet of candy as the woman in charge of the cart was looking at her so expectantly that she could not possibly leave without buying anything. "I'll take this please," she said, taking her money out of her robe's pocket, and waiting for the woman to tell her how much she had to pay.

Money! Money! Money! Belle was certainly racking in the cash today which would be useful but she still had gathered very little valuable information. From idle chit chat she'd gathered that the boy has some girlfriend now, some wench from Ravenclaw. As the day drew on she learned very little else, this girl's name was Jennifer, or Jamie or Jessica, no one really seemed to know for sure. More and more students stopped by and though they emptied their pockets to buy stuff which would make the boss happy, they had given her little new information to make HER boss happy.
Around 4PM a large swarm of students flocked her cart and she busily listened to them all but their talk was nothing useful, they all seemed to have a crush on some boy name David. Over the top of the girls a couple caught her eye. Squinting she saw a boy with hideous ruffled hair and a girl. As she stared she felt a tapping on her arm as some little kid, maybe 12 was touching her, asking how much the roses were. "Get your hands off me you little brat!" She snapped at the girl and shoved her away, drawing the looks from the girl's friends. "All of you, beat it! NOW! This shop is closed!" She then took out her wand and pointed it squarely at the face of one of the frightened kids, causing the whole lot of them to run away.
Now with no one around to bother her, she watched the two and confirmed that it wasthe boy, and that was the girl, the kiss confirmed it. As the two parted the girl made her way over to the stand and bought a pack of candy. "Oh dear, such a lovely young woman you are, and I bet that handsome .." Belle paused and shivered at the thought of complementing the boy, "that boy must be your boyfriend? Candy is nice, but I've got something even better. I only brought three of them, I sold one earlier but I still have two, these are special gifts I have but I didn't put them on display. I saved them for special couples like you. Come with me its just over here in these boxes." Belle walked back into the alley and motioned for the girl to follow her over. "There dear, in that big red box, if you could bend over and open it, I'm sure you'll love them, I have a blue one and one red one left. I'd do it, but I hurt my back the other day." Belle then slowly drew her wand from her pocket and hid it against the side of her body and waited for the girl to kneel down.

Julie really didn't want to appear impolite, and after all Valentine's Day was the only day the shop managed to make a lot of profit, so she smiled at the lady and bent down to open the box to see what was inside. There had something strange about the way she said the word handsome… no she was just imagining things. Maybe it was because Harry's looks were the last thing that had attracted her to him, though now of course that was a different story; she always felt a thrill of excitement when she looked into Harry's dark green eyes and saw the adventure and determination inside them. She was not really curious about what the woman had for a 'special' couple, for she was probably just saying that to try and sell something at the last minute. Julie's long hair covered the side of her face as she bent down, completely unaware of what the older woman was up to.

“Stupid girl” Belle thought as the girl knelt down and opened the box and looked inside. In less than a second she had raised her wand and jabbed the tip into the back of the girl’s head. “Reducto!” She yelled and blasted the girl headfirst into the wall only inches from her head. A cruel laugh escaped Belle’s lips as she watched the girl slump down unconscious. Quickly she returned to the wagon to see if anyone had witnessed what had just transpired but none had. The cash drawer was her next target and she readily emptied the contents into her pockets before returning to the downed girl.
Once more she raised her wand, this time at the wagon itself, “Incendio!” Within seconds the entire wagon was engulfed in flames and the smoke hid Belle’s actions. Kneeling next to the girl, she grabbed her by the wrist and in a loud BANG! Both Belle and the girl were gone.
