Belle emerged from the Floo network in a brilliant flash of green light. The shop in Knockturn Alley was empty save for the shopkeeper who paid no attention to Belle. Walking out of the shop into the busy afternoon sunshine, Belle quickly made her way to the exit of Diagon Alley and ventured out into the world of muggles. The muggle world was always a pathetic place to go. Thousands of people walking around believing they were on top of the world and the whole planet revolved around them. It was in the muggle world that Belle liked to go for entertainment, muggles always were such good victims.
The busy streets of London were packed with muggles in the sidewalks and many of the automobiles that muggles had grown so fond of. Down two blocks Belle walked, brushing past muggles and elbowing those who didn't move out of her way. As she reached the end of the second block, she found all the muggles had stopped walking and were standing looking around stupidly at the red light. There were no automobiles coming so there was no point in stopped, so Belle ventured forth across the street. As she was halfway across the street, an automobile came rushing around the corner and stopped suddenly while the driver screamed at Belle and extended two fingers on his hand. Belle returned the man's look with her icy glare and extended her two fingers right back at the man, she didn't know it's meaning, but assumed it was some sort of muggle insult.
Midway down the next block, Belle reached her destination, a small jewelry shop. Pulling a worn parchment from her purse she looked it over carefully once more before pushing open the door to the shop and entering. The shop was larger than one would imagine from seeing it on the outside, of course this had to do with the fact that the family who owned the shop were wizards and had used their magic to increase it's size. These people were some of the most disgusting wizarding people, those who treated muggles as equals and sold merchandise to them, and even went so far as to employee some muggles.
"Good afternoon miss, may I help you?" A pleasant voice came to the side of Belle almost as soon as she entered the shop, turning to face the woman, Belle was soon face to face with a rather young looking teenage girl who had to be of Hogwarts age. "You can tell me your house girl" Belle replied but was greeting only with a confused look, "My house? What do you mean?" The girl asked. Giving the girl a disgusted sigh, Belle looked around the shop for another worker and found an middle aged man sitting at the counter polishing rings and Belle soon was standing in front of him while the teenage girl went into the back of the shop.
Without looking up at Belle, the man spoke, "Yes, may I help you?" "Where is it?" Belle replied as she slipped her hand into her purse and took hold of her wand. "Where is what?" The man asked still working on a silver ring. "THIS!" Belle exclaimed as she slammed down the parchment she had gotten off the dead witch a few weeks ago. The man, startled by the sudden outburst dropped the ring to the floor and looked at the parchment with a drawing before stammering a response, "I, er, well we don't sell, that's private, and, how did you find me?" Belle grinned at the man and removed her wand, tapping it on the glass counter she continued to smile at the man. "Know who I am don't you?" She said as she rolled her wand between her index finger and thumb. "Good, I'm glad, now, if you want to live, you'll hand over Valanduria's jewel." "No, you can't have it, I promised I would keep it safe!" The man's eyes widened as he responded and peered off to his right to the end of the counter where his wand rested.
"Awww, you want your wand don't you? You'd like to use it against me wouldn't you? Go on then, go get it, I'll let you." The man gave Belle a confused expression and once more gave a quick glance at his wand before slowly getting to his feet, all the while he continued to watch Belle's wand. Then in a sudden wave of motion, he dove for his wand. "Accio!" Belle said half a second before the man reached his wand and as his eyes followed his wand, Belle grabbed it and snapped it in half against the glass counter. "Fool! Do you really think I'd let you get your wand!?" Belle laughed and aimed her wand squarely at the man's face. "Silencio!" Belle hit the man square in the face with the silencing charm but before he even realized what had happened she hit him square in the face with a second hex, "Crucio!"
For a couple of seconds, Belle watched the man writhing in agony on the floor, unable to scream or make any noises the man simply flopped around on the tile floor. Canceling the hex, Belle knelt down next to the man, "now will you tell me where Valanduria's jewel is, or would you like another taste?" The man rolled over to his side and pointed a finger to the bottom shelf where several boxes were. Stepping over the man, Belle grabbed the first box which contained a pair of diamond ear rings, "not what I'm after but they're nice, thank you" and she put them into her purse. As she continued to open boxes, her collection in her purse of expensive jewelry quickly accumulated until there were only two boxes left. Picking up the small brown one, she slowly opened it and smiled at what she saw. "Valanduria's Jewel!" She said more to herself than the man and she held the golden jewel up to the sunlight and there upon the ruby were several symbols that were barely visible. "With enough heat, I'll be able to copy these symbols and decipher the code...." Belle said before turning her attention to the last box which she quickly picked up and put in her purse without opening it.
She then walked back to the man who by now had staggered to his feet, "I suppose you think you're going to go free now? Not bloody likely! You should have given this to me when I first asked! Avada Kedavra!" A green light hit the man square in the chest and he slumped over the counter dead, knocking the cash bin to the ground. "What was that?!" Came the surprised voice of the teenage girl, she had returned from the backroom and was now standing there staring at the shop owner and Belle who was standing over him. "Shut up or you'll be next!" Belle yelled at the girl as she took a few steps towards her then stopped. "You know your boss is a dirty old man, you know he is a criminal right? Well I've just seen to him, now a nice young lady like you wouldn't want her name associated with a criminal now would you? So I'll make you a deal, you keep your mouth shut and I let you live!" Belle then pointed her wand at the girl's face. "No! Don't shoot me!" The girl screamed and cowered in fear, "I won't tell anyone, please don't shoot me!" Belle looked at the girl and laughed, "Get out of here, and keep your mouth shut or you will be dead too!" After the girl had run out of the door, Belle helped herself to several other pieces of jewelry in the store before she disappeared in a loud *BANG* with Valanduria's Jewel now in her posession....
