((Psh, like I remember what they’ve talked about. We’ll just pretend they haven’t talked about it.))
Rae felt a smirk cross her face at Adam’s words, but she didn’t say anything about them. Instead she just walked with him toward the castle, her hand still in his and her sketchbook in her other hand down by her side. They walked in silence a moment, and then just when she was about to say something – Adam spoke about how soon the end of the school year was. She thought about this a moment, and then felt her jaw drop. It was so close to being done with. Life without Hogwarts, without school, what was it? It would feel empty, most definitely. She chewed on her bottom lip a moment and then looked over at him when he spoke about working in the ministry. “I think you might have mentioned it, but I don’t think you’ve ever talked in depth about it.” Rae smiled brightly over at Adam, “I think it’s a great idea. You’d be great at it, I’m sure.” She tucked brought her sketchbook to her chest as she thought about what she wanted to do, what she had planned on doing. What had she planned on doing? Where had she planned on going? What were her plans for the future? She pulled herself from her reverie a moment to hear Adam ask that particular question.
“Something with art,” was her immediate response, “I dunno, it might be silly, but I want to open my own art gallery. I haven’t got many other talents, and my intelligence is limited although I was placed in Ravenclaw.” Rae had always wondered why she was placed in Ravenclaw, because the house’s description of those who were placed in it did not match her at all. Or maybe it did and she didn’t know it just yet. If that were the case, Rae would be sitting at the edge of her seat wondering whether or not the characteristics would burst forth at any given moment. Her smile brightened, “I’ve always been good at decorating my room, maybe I could become an interior decorator. Or… oh! You’ve seen a mural of mine, granted, I loathed doing that mural – but… maybe I could start my own mural painting business.” She smirked to herself and at her stupid ideas. “I guess I’m just… doomed to the life of an artist, moving from career to career – living off my art.” Without her feet steadily on the ground, with her head in the clouds; she would get no where by herself. It didn’t matter, though. She had her art and that was what kept her living.
Rae finally shrugged and smiled brightly at Adam again, “I guess I’ll just go where life takes me. Seize the day, that type of thing.”
