Solaro ran as fast as she could... up the steps... through the door, OWWW. Solaro fell flat on her face, slipped on a pile of owl poo... Never mind she thought, this was not a moment to feel sorry for herself or to bother stopping the flow of blood coming out of her nose. SHE HAD LOST TUFTY, her little beloved pet owl. 'TUFTY' she shouted, deperate to find her him.. her mum had said just before she left in an overly menacing voice.."see you solaro, if you loose even a feather of that bird you will spend the rest of your life in the ward next to mine"... the thought of spending the rest of her life in st. mungoes was a scary one (especially if it allowed her mum to be her healer). Solaro ran out the door slipping on the same poo and landing splat on her face "dammit" she cursed as she opened her eyes to see a glistening pair of shoes. She laghed at the ridiculousness of the situation. Oh well I suppose I can't get anymore embarassed..

Ash was walking toward the owlery, she wanted to send a letter to a new "correspondent" by her magnificent eagle owl but it would then be obvious it was her sending the letter. Instead she was going to use a barn owl she had bought for just that purpose, an owl she could use for secret things. To avoid people realizing it was hers when she gave it messages she sometimes said she was sending it for someone else but mostly hid herself or went when no one was there.
Ash noticed a runaway owl, "Impedimenta, Stupefy" she said instinctively, she picked up the owl and continued down toward the other owls. She knew whoever owned the owl probably wouldn't be happy with what she'd done, but that was their problem. She noticed a girl and decided to ask if it was her owl, even if she was flat on her flace,
"is this your owl?" she asked politely then realized who it probably was, "Solaro?"

Solaro was mortified, for the second time in 2 days she had been caught flat on her face by a girl named Ash... a girl that she had only just made friends with. "Hi" she said as she got to her feet. She looked down at her clothes, she was covered in bird poo with blood spurting out of her nose. "hold on" she said, her face getting redder by the second. "imaculous" she pointed her wand at her robes, it exploded, setting a bit of her robes on fire. "oh shoot," she looked up "I've lost my owl... tufty... I was just about to send a letter to Olivander's to order a new wand, this one got snapped by a Slytherin" she said pointing to the spellotape.. "'spose not all Slytherins are as nice as you...." Solaro couldn't believe how cheesy that had been, she had never had many friends. She looked down at her feet she could feel her face getting redder... "Eh.. I have to find tufty... I have to get going" she said not looking up once. She tried to get passed but Ash wasn't letting her go... why not?

Ash was quite amused when Solaro tried to get past her,
"i have your owl you know," she said sounding as amused as she felt, "oh by the way, I'm only nice to you, I even snapped someones wand in half" she was lost in recollections for a moment then admitted "I found it funny at the time, the girl had to use Dumbledores PRIVATE money because the fund was empty" Ash looked away for a second then finding she was admitting to much but still continuing said "that was why i broke it in the first place, to cause her embarrassment." Ash looked away again but straitened up and shook herself out of recollections, not physically though.

Solaro stopped... shocked by the news that her new and only friend was the kind of person she hated. Why was she being nice to her... "thanks" she said taking tufty back... she looked at her owl... it wasn't moving... then she thought... maby.. just maby Ash wasn't be nice to her she was just trying to take the mickey... this had happened so many times before... but why with Ash.. she thought Ash was differen't. "you're horrible you know, why do you spend your whole lives making others horrible" the words slipped out before she could stop them. She ran past Ash before she could catch up tears streaming out of her eyes. She rounded the corner and hid in a deep window where she didn't think Ash could see her. Head down, face in her hands she started to cry... the one friend she thought she had had in 3 whole years and she turned out to be just like all the others.

Ash was stricken, this was wrong, what should she say? She ran after Solaro and cornered her, she shoved a chocalate frog in the other girl's mouth,
"okay" Ash began "number one-i am now REALLY sorry for what i did, i now realise i was horrible, number two- i cast impedmenta and stupefy on your owl because i had to catch it somehow and i've been trained all my life to sometimes go for the not-so-nice approach if it's easier, number three- i'm not trying to be your friend then be nasty to you i'm just trying to be your friend, any questions?"

Solaro looked up, now she felt stupid... acting up like that... "s..so..sorry I've just never really well.... been friends with anyone.. they all just end up backstabing... so is that... a good enough reson for me to have jumped to the wrong conclusions.." she hoped it would work... She felt so stupid. She wiped her eyes on her t-shirt and sniffed. Now she could add tears to the list of junk splattered down her school robes.

"let me lend you some money," Ash said taking out one galleon and giving it to Solarus, "here, oh, who broke your wand?"
Ash started to walk again, this time toward the student lounge, then she remembered her "corespondent". "Oh" she said casualy, "I just have to send this letter to someone, it's the letter i came down for."
She walked toward the owlery without waiting for a response from Solaro.

"right OK" Solaro shouted after her... " I will See you in the lounge"... she walked off in her usual geeky fasion, clutching a book with her head down. She headed to the library, her favourite place, the place she went when she needed answers, even to some of the silliest question like how do you make friends... but where theres a question there's a book.
