How did the moon appear in the evening sky? Did it rise like the sun or did it just pop into the sky? Weetzie had never payed attention. She was always too busy to pay any attention. Which was weird, because Weetzie was never busy. Tonight, however, she had cleared her schedulein order to watch the moon rise or pop into the sky. Luckily the days were shorter now, so Weetzie wouldn't be out past curfew for the third time that week. She hadn't been caught the two times she was out before, but she didn't want to push her luck. Weetzie slid off her bed onto the floor and reached underneath the four poster, grabbing her white lace up boots. She pulled them on her feet and stood from the ground. Her eyes traveled down to her skirt and picked off a fuzz ball. It was Weetzie favourite skirt. A plaid one that reached a little bit further than her mid thigh, and continued down with black lace; all in all the length was briefly above her knee. She wore a white tank top with black lace and a studded belt. Her regular jean jacket covered her bare arms although her legs would probably continue to be cold.
Weetzie ran a quick hand through her long brown hair and grabbed her black backpack purse. She slipped her arms through the holes and left her dorm. She pushed past people in the common room and then made her way up all the flights of stairs to the entrance hall where she pushed open the grand double doors and exited the school. She enjoyed the cool rush of air. Weetzie was always warmer than usual, so she welcomed the cold air that engulfed her once she stepped outside. She walked down to the lake and looked at the steady water. It was like glass, nothing was disturbing it. Weetzie picked up a smooth pebble and skipped it across the glassy lake. It skipped four times and then sank into the water. Smiling, she turned and started to climb up the cliff that overlooked the lake. After a few moments, Weetzie reached the top. The sight was breathtaking and Weetz admired it for a few moments before opening her arms and spinning around in a complete circle, her face upturned to the sky. Another breeze blew by and it was as if she were drawing the wind into a circle, because the snow around her began to funnel. It fell again and Weetzie stopped spinning. Her eyes on the setting sun. It would be awhile until it was complete set and the moon was in the sky.
There was nothing but silence and Weetzie was enjoying it. She was enjoying the beauty and letting her mind wander. It wandered to her mother, who she missed dearly, and it wandered to her father, who she had never met before. She couldn't help but wonder if she'd ever meet him. If she did, what would she say or do? How would he act? Her mind kept whirring with thoughts, and her eyes stayed glued on the setting sun's reflection in the lake water.
