Sadie felt as if she had been stuck in the castle a whole year already, and wasn't able to escape it. She needed to get herself back outside so that she could concentrate and clear her mind. She had gotten nothing done over the summer, except make a couple of new friends, and while that was always fun, there were other things that she should have went home to do. Home That was a thought that rarely crossed Sadie's mind anymore. She didn't have much of a home now, and had spent most of her summer in Diagon Alley, not wanting to go back to the place she had once called home.
Sadie wondered through the grounds in search for her favorite tree on the far side of the lake. She had shared her tree with many others, but tended to enjoy it the most when it was just she and the tree. Sadie felt that it was her sanctuary a place she could hide far up in the branches and leaves whenever she felt the world was going to collapse around her. This wasn't one of those days though. This was just an ordinary get out of the dorm kind of day. She had brought with her a sketch pad and a muggle pencil. Sketching was something that she had started to try her hand at during the summer when there was no one to talk to, since most of her friends didn't stay at the Leaky Cauldron like she had done.
As she looked out over the lake, she discovered that it was indeed a beautiful thing to attempt to draw with the way that the sunshine and clouds reflected off of it. Sadie put her pencil to her paper and closed her eyes, letting her hand and mind do the rest of it. Sadie was unsure of what the drawing would turn out to look like but she didn't want to see it until her mind told her she was done with it.

It's weird how these things happen isn't it? You grow up to a pureblood family only to find out that you aren't really pureblood. You are just some mistake, a stupid idea, an eighteen year old's accident on prom night. You were never meant to be. Your magical father isn't your's anymore. You have filth running in your veins. (Or at least that was what you thought half-bloods were before you found out your real father is some muggle!)
That was what was running through Aurora Augustine's head as she sat under the shade of a large tree trying to get her mind off her family long enough to draw a picture. No such luck. She just couldn't get the word "mudblood" out of her mind. Finally, Aurora gave up her attempt to draw and decided to walk around the grounds in hopes it would take her mind off things. That idea didn't work well either. The thoughts of her long-lost father haunted her, but yet it comforted her. She was now one of the "filth" she had once despised. Then she realized they are all just like me! Aurora had accomplished a certain respect toward muggle borns, something she couldn't accomplish in twelve years.
Suddenly, Auroa noticed a Hufflepuff girl sitting on the other side of the tree drawing a beautiful picture of the lake. But there was something odd, the girl's eyes were shut tight! How could she possibly draw without looking at the paper in front of her? Maybe she had performed a spell. Auroa became curious and decided to ask the girl how she had accomplished such a spell.
"Hey, how are you doing that?" Aurora asked the girl. The girl answered her without opening her eyes- this was good for Aurora because if she had, she would probably think of Aurora as a stuck up spoiled Slytherin teenager who only cared for herself. Sure she did put herself first in some situations, but she didn't want to be judged that way.

Sadie couldn't open her eyes just yet, the picture wasn't done. She had to keep her eyes close until the picture was done. She couldn't interrupt. She heard someone come up to her as she continued to draw the lake. "Hello" she said with her eyes still closed. The picture must be finished. It's almost done. Sadie's mind only thought about the picture, not about anyone around her. Finally, she opened her eyes. Looking at the picture it was exactly as she had seen the lake just before closing her eyes. She had heard the girl ask how she had been drawing without looking. "It's a technique I learned over the summer, while I was practicing. I discovered that I could draw the subject better from my memory than trying to capture a picture that was still moving and changing."
Sadie looked up ath the girl to see her response and noticed that she was a Slytherin. Sadie prepared herself for the usual attack that she had come to expect from the Slytherin house. Hopefully this girl would be different, Sadie had been lucky enough to come across a few that were. "So what brings you out to the lake?" Sadie said with the most polite tone she could muster up in the presences of what she expected to be a battle of wits. Although the girl seemed to Sadie to look like she wasn't up for a huge battle.
((Sorry for the short post, but I knew I needed to get something up. Hope my next one will be a bit longer.))

Aurora watched as the girl's expression changed from peaceful, to surprised, to polite all at once. Through her dazed thoughts, she heard the girl ask what she was doing at the lake.
"Oh, I like to draw too, but I'm not all that good." Aurora paused to look at the girl's beautiful drawing. "Definitely not as good as you. I would never be able to do that."
She noticed the girl was a Hufflepuff. They were mainly friendly people. Aurora stopped herself at this thought. She shouldn't label this girl by her house, or anything else for that matter. After all, Aurora barely knew the girl, and the girl barely knew her, yet she appeared to be doing her the honor of not stereotyping Aurora by her house, so Aurora should follow her example by treating her with the same respect. The girl's voice came piercing into her thoughts about labeling and stereotyping. Aurora seemed to be be caught by some sort of trance, so she really couldn't make out exactly what the girl was saying.
